Could see him going to Japan or Mexico first since he mentioned before about wanting to check those off his bucket list before retiring for good.

Evil Vito 03-21-2021 12:27 PM

I don't think he's going anywhere. All the talk about where he'd go last time and he simply re-upped with WWE. Part of it was because he didn't want to jeopardize anything for his wife with Total Bellas.

But also, I think WWE gave him the closest he could find to doing a world tour in one place. He's wrestled Shinsuke. He said in so many interviews that he really badly wanted to wrestle Metalik. He's name dropped so many guys in NXT he eventually wants to mix it up with.

I've given up hope of him working anywhere else, he's settled into a role with creative and he'll wrestle different guys now and then and that'll be that.

Evil Vito 03-21-2021 03:46 PM

Rumors were going around for a few days that Batista might not be able to make the ceremony and he’s now been removed from the HOF list on the roster page.

Think he is like Cena filming a movie in another Country, so flying and quarantining is not cost effective for the studios.

Evil Vito 03-22-2021 03:31 PM

Nope, would be a valid reason to miss the ceremony for sure. By next year when the world is hopefully normal the schedule would line up.

That said, he was meant to be this year's headliner. Undertaker is the obvious headliner that should be available but I'd have to think the hope was him going in next year in Texas, with a full crowd on hand.

Evil Vito 03-22-2021 03:32 PM

nWo can probably just headline since they were a big enough deal plus it's Hogan.

GD 03-22-2021 04:02 PM

Wait a minute...I just realized that Big E is not officially a member of The New Day anymore. I thought he was just the lone New Day member on Smackdown. This is a bummer.

he probably hoped trump would induct him during a second term, too

Rammsteinmad 03-24-2021 10:01 AM

Within the span of about two weeks, The Miz became WWE champion, lost it, and has just kinda moved on. It's this sort of writing and lack of consistancy that makes me unable to watch WWE at the moment. :(

GD 03-24-2021 10:27 AM

WWE has done far worse in terms of consistency. At least, The Miz got his rematch which is something Kofi Kingston was never afforded.

Evil Vito 03-24-2021 02:05 PM

Roddy Piper vs. Bad News Brown from WrestleMania 6 (best known for Piper painting himself half black) has been edited out on Peacock.

Vince McMahon dropping the N-word has been edited out on Peacock.

A big reason they didn't just port the entire library over on day one is because Peacock wants to scrub anything they deem unsuitable. If you didn't do a full ECW or Attitude Era watch through on the Network yet, you're likely shit out of luck.

screech 03-24-2021 02:16 PM

Bummer. I'd rather they put a disclaimer at the beginning of the shows that are deemed offensive rather than scrubbing stuff entirely.

#1-norm-fan 03-24-2021 04:05 PM

I’m surprised WWE didn’t edit those things out already.

Yeah a disclaimer would be more reasonable and save NBC a ton of time with their work porting over WWE Network content to Peacock.

If they have to scrub or bleep out stuff, it should be reserved for the really bad stuff where just having a disclaimer wouldn't fix the issue like Vince uttering the N word since that wasn't okay for him to do even back then.

They had disclaimers before certain events, didn't they?

Jordan 03-24-2021 05:00 PM

Do they have matches with Crispin Wagh?

Apparently that's not enough to stop the constantly offended on someone else's behalf to be offended on someone else's behalf.

#1-norm-fan 03-24-2021 06:35 PM

Yeah, I didn’t watch stuff on the network enough to know but even with disclaimers, I’m surprised they didn’t play it as safe as possible. All it would have taken is one member of the PC Police to stumble upon Piper in half-blackface and get attention on Twitter and it would have been a mess.

yeah i say they will cut alot of piper out, what he said does not age well. he could be a race heel.

Emperor Smeat 03-24-2021 07:22 PM

Wonder how NBC are going to handle the Triple H vs. Booker T feud that lead up to Mania 19 since that leaned towards borderline racist at times, especially Triple H's infamous promo against Booker T's ethnicity.

Also doesn't help that Triple H was a big focal point and hogged up a lot of screen time during the early brand split era on RAW so any scrubs or edits are going to be more noticeable than a simple scrub of Vince uttering the N word.

yeah that whole feud like the trips sting feud was bad all the way around best forgotten.

erickman 03-24-2021 07:57 PM

talking about booker-t guess we won't get his 1st apperence in wcw with stevie ray as the chain gang with col tom parker.

xrodmuc316 03-24-2021 09:37 PM

I'm wondering where the line is though. Blackface has to be less offensive than Katie Vick, right? What about Heidenreich and Michael Cole?

Emperor Smeat 03-24-2021 10:46 PM

I'd assume its a hard line and mainly stuff that would get any other company in a lot of real hot water had they done the same or been involved with it.

Very questionable and potentially tasteless stuff probably won't get the cut treatment unless it was really that bad or indefensible. Something like the Katie Vick angle leaned a lot more towards the dumb and comical side than the offensive side although the real story of the shooting of that scene is very messed up.

Something like any WWE Network footage involving Col. DeBeers from AWA probably is getting the hard scrub treatment since that character was based on being an open racist and saying racist stuff to his opponents and others.

Emperor Smeat 03-25-2021 05:57 PM

According to Post Wrestling, an episode of RAW from 2009 also got the scrubbing treatment except in this case its the whole episode that got axed at least for now.

lol isn't that when shareholders freaked out because they thought it was legit?

Emperor Smeat 03-25-2021 08:04 PM

Yeup.

Think WWE did have plans for Trump to legit become the new owner of WWE but only until the end of that storyline. Vince would still keep his actual controlling shares in the company so Trump's ownership would have been more in name only but with some genuineness to it.

The shareholders freaking out and WWE's stocks tanking afterwards ended up pulling a plug on those plans.

According to a report from AdWeek, the Old Spice ad that aired during Fastlane is actually a 6-part ad series with the remaining parts to air during future WWE shows.

Rik Bugez/Eric Bugenhagen's "Joe Average" character is going to be a recurring role in this ad series as well.

As noted, Fastlane featured a backstage segment where Average, the delivery guy for WWE sponsor Old Spice, ended up winning the WWE 24/7 Title from R-Truth. Average pinned Truth while trying to clean up a display that was knocked over. The segment, which saw Truth immediately roll Average back up to re-take the title, also featured Akira Tozawa and Drew Gulak.

In an update, the story of Joseph Average will play out across 5 more WWE vignettes, according to AdWeek. There’s no word on exactly when these vignettes will air, but they should premiere in the next several weeks. AdWeek noted that this is a multi-week content series and storyline integration to support the launch of Old Spice’s new NightPanther deodorant scent.

It was also revealed that the NightPanther storyline will also play out during Night One and Night Two of WrestleMania 37 next month.

In addition to the 6 vignettes, WWE’s new Old Spice ad campaign also features 4 custom commercials and a robust social media campaign. The social media campaign will include a YouTube playlist and organized online support from Superstars.

In a bit of a spoiler for future vignettes, it was revealed that WWE producer Shane Helms will bring back his Hurricane Helms gimmick for at least one of the vignettes ...

It was noted by AdWeek that Old Spice decided to go big for the rollout of their newest scent, so they turned to WWE for help. Classic Old Spice ads from the past have featured high energy, eccentricity and over-the-top personalities, and Old Spice went to WWE as the one place that could match its supercharged ethos.

And he'll debut on the post-mania RAW

Emperor Smeat 03-26-2021 03:32 PM

According to the Observer Newsletter, this year's Mania is currently planned to be longer than last year's show in terms of runtime for both nights.

WWE currently looking at around 3.5 to 4 hours for each night this year. For some comparisons, WrestleMania 36 was 3 hours & 15 minutes for Night 1 and 3 hours for Night 2.

According to the Yuengling Center, WWE will be staying there for their ThunderDome tapings from April 2nd to August 3rd.

Also just like with their ThunderDome tapings at the Amway Center and Tropicana Field, WWE won't have live crowds for RAW and SD at the Yuengling Center.

Damian Rey 2.0 03-28-2021 11:27 PM

Are they locked in that long? I can see live crowds coming back in the next month or so if not by mid year. Hard to imagine Vince would pass up the chance to get people in the building if and when venues start allowing live attendance.

Evil Vito 03-28-2021 11:32 PM

I don't think Vince particularly minds running shows in front of an environment where he can control everybody's reactions tbh. It's not like the revenue loss from a gate is hurting them at all.

That said, wouldn't surprise me if SummerSlam ends up being the return of a live crowd for an indoor show.

Funny thing is that WWE is probably nixing house shows since they weren't really making them any money.....but I COULD see them possibly doing a few loops once the country is properly reopened just because people are going to be craving going to any sort of live event again, they might do really good gates for a few months.

Yeah they are locked in till that date. After that is when they start to run into potential problems since the University of South Florida uses it for their college basketball and other sporting events.

The venue is a lot smaller in size than Tropicana Field and Amway Center for capacity since its only around 10k for sports and entertainment events.
