Let's give Vince McMahon credit

This guy has now signed a few billion dollar contracts with NBC and FOX. On the surface you might think " WWE is big business now " and sure they made a lot of money.

WHat this is really about is Vince keeping control of Pro Wrestling. The WWE product stinks. Vince sold these companies an average batch that he probably advertised as an elite batch of success. WWE will not live up to or be worth these contracts and what does that do?

That simply makes it harder for AEW to ever gain a big contract deal with anyone. These companies are too dense to know what's really solid and what is washed up. They see WWE and think " oooo shiney gotta have it ! ". WWE is really bad right now.

After Vince is done collecting money from these big broadcast companies and leaving them with crappy returns, no big company will want to give another wrestling organization a monster deal again.

Vince is burning the entire industry down and cashing out at the same time.

slik 02-01-2021 09:31 PM

Apparently Vince wasn't at the Royal Rumble and HHH was running the show, w/ Vince on the phone giving feedback

Good, if Vince burns wrestling bridges for AEW then AEW will finally be able to blame Vince for hurting them. They have shown great restraint in not blaming Vince for everything thusfar...

Vince McMahon > Tony Khan

Vince needs money and says "Damnit Pal, I'll sign a new Billion $ deal!"
Tony Khan needs money and says "DAAAAAAAAAAAAAADDDDY"

I could care less if WWE is making billions of dollars the product is intolerable. The wrestling is absolutely shit and the stories matter less than ever imaginable. WWE may be making billions but none of that is coming from my bank account. WWE's financial success only makes it more likely for AEW to be picked up by a rival platform in a similar deal at some point. And yes the world at large thinks of WWE when they think of wrestling. A year or two of AEW won't change that. WWE has decades head start in the game. WWE and AEW are only rivals in the eyes of fans. WWE dwarfs AEW in many ways. AEW's advantage is they have mostly put out a product that respects the fandom of it's viewers. WWE is offensively bad, I haven't sat through more than 10 minutes of it in almost a year without feeling embarrassed for subjecting myself to the type of entertainment that only the lowest of mental intelligence can enjoy.

Mr. Nerfect 02-02-2021 03:29 AM

Vince has done what is best for his business. What is amazing is that it’s so lucrative yet only one billionaire has tried to get into it and Vince locked him down almost instantly.

AEW could smoke WWE in the ratings for 5 years and likely never be a true competitor or rival. I’m not really concerned about that, I just care that a somewhat amusing and entertaining wrestling product exist regardless of who the hell is watching it.

This. I don't really care how successful it is in comparison to other companies. The goal is to enjoy the product. If I enjoy it, I don't see what else is supposed to matter to me.

He bought his dad and his partners out, and if he missed a single payment he agreed to give back control to his dad and parents. You should ignore the part where the WWF was printing money and there was zero chance of that happening. I mean, I guess the Soviet Union could have nuked the east coast or something.

The same way every other rich, white person with a famous last name who even gets a sniff of success: picking themselves up by the bootstraps.

He didn't wait for his daddy to be worth $8 billion, then cry to him that he had no friends but if he could have some money he could give it to cool wrestler and they could become his friends.

The only point your making is Vince sr wasn’t as successful as Khan sr.

screech 02-02-2021 01:49 PM

I wish xrod was actually a funny troll. But

He wasn't, you are very correct. Shad Khan > Vincent McMahon Sr.

But that is NOT the actual point. 1 son took a regional wrestling company and turned it into a behemoth. The other son asked his rich daddy for money. That is the point.

First, sorry to hear your namesake passed away.

Second, like always, you are awesome at waiting for somebody else to make a point, then replying you agree and so and so is dumb.

You contribute absolutely nothing to the actual discussions. You are like the little brother in The Sandlot that just repeats what his older brother said, albeit with more grown-up words, because it is all you are capable of.

Serious question, are you an actual bot?

Gerard 02-02-2021 03:47 PM

But but, Vince doesn't do "pro wrestling". :nono::nono::(

What you’re saying then is that one guy took the most successful regional promotion in the country, and in spite of the promises made by his father to other promoters that his son, Vince, would never compete in their markets, turned around and did just that, all while raiding the same promoters for their top talent.

The other guy started his own company from scratch all while being forced to compete with the aforementioned evil empire.

I think you’re stanning for Khan junior, but I can’t tell.

screech 02-02-2021 05:54 PM

xrod still has not realized that I don't see his dumb posts unless someone quotes him.

It's remarkable how low his IQ is.

Started from scratch, by using his dad's money to pay WWE and NJPW guys way more than they are worth. He sure out in a lot of hard work huh?

rez 02-02-2021 06:23 PM

I still say Creature of the Night would smoke xrod in a wrestling debate and that's absolutely a diss.

screech 02-02-2021 06:25 PM

Creature of the Night. What happened to that guy?

Haven't looked at the front page in a bit. He still leaving comments?

rez 02-02-2021 06:26 PM

He's still posting in news comments.

screech 02-02-2021 06:27 PM

The other thing this guy does, replies to everything I say, and AS SOON as I call him on it, "oh oh I don't even read your post".

Sure you don't Screech, sure you don't ;)

Also, learn to write a legible sentence.

" I only see posts unless somebody quotes him. "

I think you are trying to say you see them when somebody else quotes me, but I digress.

You HAVE to laugh when this level of genius questions another person's intelligence.

How many holes have you punched in your walls after getting too angry when you do not understand something and that is the only recourse you have?

IC Champion 02-02-2021 06:45 PM

Okay, okay. Let’s all just take a second to calm down now ladies.

Supreme Olajuwon 02-02-2021 07:19 PM

I think it really speaks to xrod’s love and admiration for Tony Khan that he thinks Tony, who has 2 years experience in the wrestling business, should be compared equally to Vince, who has 50 years experience in the wrestling business. You’ve got to think really highly of a person to hold them to those expectations.

screech 02-02-2021 07:19 PM

Did Creature of the Night ever join the boards? I know someone made a thread dedicated to him.

rez 02-02-2021 07:23 PM

xrod sad VM never invited him to the "Kiss My Ass" Club

Sounds like you are overcompensating for never getting to join the "Suck Tony Khan's Dick" club there Rez

rez 02-02-2021 07:36 PM

What does the size (or lack there of) my peenis have to do with my ability to suck on some Khan dick?

Not really a comparison saying one person is greater than (the > symbol) another person.

Comparison - a consideration or estimate of the similarities or dissimilarities between two things or people.

What I think you are confusing is comparison vs statement.

Statement - a definite or clear expression of something in speech or writing.

There is no comparison, Vince McMahon is definitively a better wrestling promoter than a rich kid wasting his father's money to play wrestling.

Supreme Olajuwon 02-02-2021 07:52 PM

Vince was in the wrestling business for 18 years when he put on Wrestlemania 2, one of the worst things to ever happen to wrestling. So we’ve got another 16 years at least to wait

Tony Khan will be as heavily mocked as Dixie Carter in a few years, and all of you are going to pretend you were in on it the whole time.
