Ray Stevenson's Deep:

In an interview with IGN Ray Stevenson [the new Punisher] says this about vigilantism:

Quote:

The state can still kill people, but we can't license individuals to kill people. We've advanced, as it were. Yet if somebody harmed my son, I would absolutely stop their seed. I don't think I'd be big enough, or magnanimous enough, to allow due process. And if they got off, how would I feel then? But where is the advancement if we constantly revert back to eye-for-an-eye, to the ancient law of retribution? Are you happy that he's out there, knowing full well that you'll never be a target? But what if you transgress? Where does he draw his line? And if we entertain, and at the same time hold up a mirror, then we're in…

Rammsteinmad 02-29-2008 02:37 AM

Wow, this Wolverine movie is looking to be awesome. Hugh Jackson is the coolest/luckiest guy in the world being able to play this character.

This looks amazing. I think its gonna be the first Marvel movie I'm going to see in theaters for a long time.

Little Wolvie Recast:

That kid from a bunch of posts ago? He's out. The new shooting schedule has him working on another film. The new kid to play as a young Logan will be Troye Mellet, appearently a hometown child celeb in a spot called Perth. Virtually unknown internationally, his casting mirrors Hugh Jackman's casting into the role of Wolverine. Fate isn't without a sense of irony.

Heros Welcome 03-13-2008 03:28 AM

Really enjoyed the Hulk trailer, def checking it out.

Rammsteinmad 03-13-2008 03:42 AM

This Hulk movie looks really different than the last one. I enjoyed the last one, so this one should be pretty cool.

Also just watched the trailer for Hellboy 2 and The Dark Knight. Hellboy looked awesome, Batman looked ok which is quite surprising. Considering how excited most people are for this film, the trailer didn't make it look so great to be honest. Still looks good though. :y:

Kane Knight 03-14-2008 01:53 PM

I'm not big on what they've done with Hulk in terms of animation, but I saw that trailer in High Def, and it was sweet otherwise. And I can put up with a shiny Hulk if the movie's good otherwise.

Kalyx triaD 04-21-2008 10:45 AM

Tony Stark Appears in Hulk:

Tony Stark will appear in the upcoming Hulk movie in a short cameo, presumely taking place sometime after the events of his own film.

Yes: He will be in a bar, and he will have a drink.

- If you're wondering why Tim Roth's character is commiting suicide in the middle of the trailer, let's just say he should have bought a circular shield to go with his drink. -

I see. I knew you were referencing Cap, but I couldn't figure out what you were getting at. I thought you were saying that this character was gonna turn into Cap, which wouldn't have made sense as he's the Abomination. Cool. :y:

Yet Another One...:

In the world of Marvel Comics, a new Spider-Man villain debuts this Summer. His origin is pretty vague other than... well he wants to kill Spidey. Meet Anti-Venom!

http://comicsmedia.ign.com/comics/im...1090028356.jpg

Is he Symbiote based? If so who's under that suit? Note that Eddie Brock also returns in the Spidey books. Whether or not he'll return as Venom is anybody's guess.

Hey, every now and then I gotta report on comic going-ons. Today's comic plots are the future's movie sequels.

Avengers in 2011! May. 5, 2008

http://joblo.com/avengers-in-2011

Source: Yahoo! Finance by: Mike Sampson

Marvel Entertainment held its shareholder webcast this morning where they announced some pretty interesting information regarding their upcoming slate. Included is confirmation that IRON MAN 2 is on the fast track for an April 30, 2010 release (summer officially begins in April now!) and THE AVENGERS in July, 2011. Also on the release schedule are THOR (June 4, 2010) and THE FIRST AVENGER: CAPTAIN AMERICAN (May 6, 2011). While Zak Penn is writing THE AVENGERS and Matthew Vaughn is developing THOR, there is no talent attached yet to CAPTAIN AMERICA though you can expect that to change soon enough. The announcement comes just three days after IRON MAN opened and has already pulled in over $200 million worldwide to the 2nd highest non-sequel opening in history. Also came news of plenty of other properties including video games, direct-to-DVD and animated TV series. ANT MAN was also confirmed as being in development (with Edgar Wright attached to write and direct) but no release date was announced. You can read a full summary of the webcast at Yahoo! Finance. So what Avengers line-up can we expect to see in the series?

Rammsteinmad 05-05-2008 02:59 PM

That Anti-Venom looks sick! Though UK continuity is about 2 years behind America. We're currently going throught the "Other" storyline, with Civil War coming up fairly soon. Can't wait to see this guy though. Been reading about current storylines on Wikipedia, not liking the sounds of the whole reality change thing... but sooner or later you know it'll go back to the way it was. :y:

Indifferent Clox 05-05-2008 03:09 PM

civil war is so amazing.

Kalyx triaD 05-05-2008 05:31 PM

You will love Civil War.

U-Warrior 05-05-2008 06:36 PM

As awesome as Civil War is, secret invasion looks to be the best of all.

I guess Bendis has been planting the seeds for this since Avengers Dissassembled, and every crossover since, has been leading to this.

Lock Jaw 05-05-2008 06:42 PM

Civil War was meh. Annihilation was so much better.

Danny Electric 05-05-2008 08:07 PM

Civil War already came out in the UK. About a year ago or less.

Indifferent Clox 05-05-2008 08:34 PM

whoa wait? what? Secret Invasion?

U-Warrior 05-05-2008 11:30 PM

Buy Secret Invasion #1, clox. It's out now.

Just as a set up, in a recent New Avengers issue, it was revealed that Electra was a skrull. No one knows how long, but at the time she controlled the japanese underworld.

In the final issue of the illumanati mini series, Black Bolt was also revealed to be a skrull. Seems its been a huge plan that started after the kree-skrull war in the 70's.

Thats the set up.

First issue will blow your mind.

U-Warrior 05-05-2008 11:33 PM

Like I said, Avengers Dissassembled, Secret War(modern one), House of M, and Civil War, are all connected, and Secret Invasion is the finale that puts all the pieces together.

The entire new avengers run, with hydra and shield rotting from the inside, is also a big part I'm guessing. Probably skrulls responible for the sabotage.

Indifferent Clox 05-06-2008 01:05 AM

do i need to read any mighty avengers or captain marvel to understand this secret invasion?

also I read civil war a while back can you give me a rundown of the end of it (might as well do the whole thing but in spoilers for those who haven't read it) and what happened since?

Indifferent Clox 05-06-2008 01:14 AM

can you also explain the whole skrull thing in detail again?

Could the Skrulls have something to do with Cap's death? Doesn't seem like Red Skull's style.

Rammsteinmad 05-06-2008 10:35 AM

I dunno how things are in the US at the moment (Cap hasn't been killed here in the UK yet), but I imagine they'll discover the "Cap" who died was also a Scrull. The real Cap was being held captive somewhere... just an idea.

Unlikely, unless Marvel really want to invalidate the whole of Ed Brubaker's run on Captain America, which would be stupid.

Highly unlikely that Rogers was a Skrull though, as we already know that they revert back to Skrull form when they die, which he didn't.

Although based on some recent issues and some forthcoming issues, there's at least one other Captain America (if not 2 or 3) running about somewhere, but with the exception of one of them, it's currently unknown who any of them are.

Lock Jaw 05-06-2008 01:30 PM

Well, Steve Rogers is gonna be part of the Avengers/Invaders crossover.

The Destroyer 05-06-2008 01:33 PM

Yeah, but that's Steve Rogers from the 1940s, along with his Invaders team mates.

So he's still dead.

BigDaddyCool 05-06-2008 01:45 PM

The new Hulk movie that is coming out...does it have anything to do with the hulk movie that came out a few years ago?

The Destroyer 05-06-2008 01:52 PM

Think it's a pretty much a "let's pretend it didn't happen" type one.

It's kind of a sequel in that it's not an origin story, so Banner is already the Hulk etc. but I don't think it's designed as a direct follow on from the first one.

Indifferent Clox 05-06-2008 02:28 PM

Ok so i read secret invasion and I have like 3 questions

what is this 'he loves you' stuff?

[black]what was up with all the different versions is this crisis on multiple marvels?[/black]

Rammsteinmad 05-06-2008 02:34 PM

More Marvel movies on the way!

Just thought I'd throw this into this thread. My girlfriend got me the "Spider-Man: The Icon" book for Christmas last year. Anyone who's a fan of Spider-Man should definitely get this book. It covers everything from the comics, toys, films, cartoons... everything!!!

Anyways, there's a little piece that says about current Marvel films being planned, which release dates. Obviously don't take these dates too seriously, but none-the-less here's what it says:

Iron Man (2008)
The Incredible Hulk (2008)
Ant-Man (2009)
Captain America (2009)
Nick Fury (2010)
Thor (2010)
The Avengers (2011)
Black Panther (To Be Determined)
Doctor Strange (TBD)
Hawkeye (TBD)
Shang Chi - Master of Kung Fu (TBD)
Cloak and Dagger (TBD)
Power Packl (TBD)

If this is correct then everything will fall into place for an Avengers film in 2011.

So... the big question, for possibly the biggest role to fill... who does everyone want to see play Captain America? I don't know about unknowns etc, but big name-wise I'd like to see Mark Wahlberg.

Rammsteinmad 05-06-2008 02:34 PM

Edit: Double post.

Kalyx triaD 05-06-2008 02:36 PM

LOL, Power Pack?!

I'm so there...

Rammsteinmad 05-06-2008 02:45 PM

Isn't Power Pack the one with the kids? Be interesting to see if Marvel did that as a kiddies film or not. Especially when compared to all the other Marvel films over the last 10 years.

1) One theory is it's some sort of activation signal - some of the Skrulls are possibly sleeper agents. But no-one really knows.
2) I'm assuming it's been caused by the same "alien virus" that caused most of his company to grind to a halt - no doubt planted by a certain someone close to him revealed to be a Skrull.
3) I'd assume that the only people that know work for Marvel. Just have to keep on reading...

Kalyx triaD 05-06-2008 02:48 PM

Yeah, the bargin kid's comic. They're 'loosely' within continuity of the 616. Basically whenever something big happens the comics kinda parodies it with a E+ perspective. They even had an Invasion tie-in.

So sad to know all that.

http://www.earth-2.net/images/news/2...wer-pack01.jpg

Once upon a time the series was actually kinda serious, but they redesigned for the Maguzi/Toonami crowd some time ago. I admit there's a certain charm about them. A Spy-Kids-type movie that kids and adults could dig would work.

Lock Jaw 05-06-2008 03:51 PM

Power Pack used to be an actual group within the 616-stuff, though... I think...

Because that girl who flies and leaves a rainbow trail is all not a teenager/kid anymore and showed up in The Loners.

1. Dunno exactly. The skrulls who are behind all this are the religous type, their leader being skrull royalty. They were banished after the skree-krull war by pro-technology skrulls. After Galactus consumed their homeworld (as the religious sect prophesized) the survivors came to them to lead. That was the opening scene of SI #1. "He loves you" has something to do with their faith. Not just a code word. We don't know what yet.

2. Did you not see a certain Iron Man accompliss saying "he loves you" and inserting a virus into everything stark related?

3. Nobody knows yet. Wait til issue 2. Maybe further. Nice Black spoilers btw.

For the record, I liked Hulk.

I'm betting Incredible Hulk will be fun but Hulk will ultimately be the better film overall.

Reavant 05-07-2008 10:30 AM

ummm.... do you know where you are right now?

Kalyx triaD 05-07-2008 10:41 AM

Wolverine and the X-Men Trailer:

<object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/0MBDpRiOi9M&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/0MBDpRiOi9M&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

Though the art seems like X-Men Evolution fanart, the animation is slick and the story is interesting. I'm loving Steve Burton channeling the 90's 'Fox Kids' Wolverine (though his X-Men Legends gruff would've been cool, too). Magneto seems to be modeled after Ian's portrayal, and White Queen getting to have her cleavage is something to note for the supposed Nicktoons show. I don't know what kinetically charged playing cards are supposed to sound like when they're charging, but I'm guessing the sound effect used in Gambit's clip was meant to be throw-back to the 90's show as well. Domino, Lady Deathstrike... but no Victor Creed? Sabertooth better be on a show starring Wolverine.

Anyway... I like it.

Rammsteinmad 05-07-2008 11:25 AM

I like it! So is this a new X-Men series? Coz that clipped made it look like an animated movie. It'd be awesome if they could make another X-Men series that had the success of the original. X-Men Evolution didn't seem to have that same effect (I enjoyed that cartoon for the record).

Kalyx triaD 05-07-2008 11:27 AM

Yeah that's the new series. It's a really cool approach that plays with continuity in a good way...

...Unlike Spider-Man Unlimited.

Lock Jaw 05-07-2008 01:07 PM

Yeah, that trailer actually looks good... its not trying to be Japanese, its not trying to "reinvent" the characters for a younger audience...

My only complaint is the name. Frickin' Wolverine and his top billing and apparent leadership status....

The Destroyer 05-07-2008 02:09 PM

I can't say I'm too keen on the voices for Xavier and Magneto, but otherwise looks like it could be quite good.

Looks like they might be including some more modern characters too, I'm sure I spotted Dust from New X-Men in there.

Rammsteinmad 05-07-2008 03:02 PM

I gotta say I like Magneto's voice. Sounds like Ian Whatshisname. Overall looks very good. Though I have to agree with Lock Jaw about the whole "Wolverine and the X-Men" thing... why not just call it "X-Men"?

The Destroyer 05-07-2008 05:24 PM

Because as Marvel themselves know, Wolverine = a draw.

The movies were pretty much centered around him, he's getting a spin off film and he also manages to be involved in loads of comic series (his solo book, Wolverine Origins, New Avengers, whichever X-Men book he happens to be appearing in these days and whatever else he guest stars in).

I'd still say it's a stupid idea, as he's really not bigger than the X-Men in my opinion, but hey.

Indifferent Clox 05-07-2008 07:01 PM

It might be because he will have solo adventures in the show or something?

Lock Jaw 05-07-2008 07:29 PM

Nah, its just the whole "name value" thing. Though, as stated, I'm not sure why they need to tack it on since "X-Men" is a big enough name, and most people put Wolverine and the X-Men together anyways.

I'm just tired of Wolverine being everywhere.

As of right now he has two solo series, and is a part of no less than three teams (New Avengers, X-Men (Which has multiple books), and X-Force). The only logical explanation is that there are several Wolverines running about (Skrulls) and no one has noticed. They just accept the fact that he's everywhere at once.

Impact! 05-08-2008 12:15 AM

There is Wolverine, Woolvereen, and Wolverene, but since it all sounds the same no one has noticed.

Rammsteinmad 05-10-2008 04:08 AM

Kalyx triaD 05-13-2008 05:56 PM

It seems despite my better efforts we have a load or Marvel threads popping up; even though we could clean up the place by posting in a thread dedicated to both Marvel and Film. Hey, I only remember alot of fuss over 'flooding' the forums... but I'm not bitter.

Who Will Assemble?:

With hints of Captain America in Iron Man and the upcoming Hulk, Marvel Films is moving ahead with their most ambitious project (Cap sets off the long awaited Avengers film). Marvel is looking for a star for the title role in "Captain America: The First Avenger". Meanwhile, they're checking out Brad Pitt to portray Thor! Will we see Edward Norton and Brad Pitt together again in Avengers? Joined by Robert Downey Jr.?!? Don't tease us Marvel...

Also, will the Spidey 4 franchise revamp join the current 'one-universe' Marvel movies? He was never a part of the classic Avengers, but I wouldn't mind at all. Hell, he was a New Avenger (Pre-Civil War) along with Wolverine. Hey, Hugh Jackman doesn't seem ready to give up the character that made his carreer. With talks of the X-Men franchise getting a reboot as well, should Logan join the new Marvel Film-verse as well?

We can only imagine.

Spidey 4... And 5:

Well the idea now is that Spidey's next adventure may be big enough to span two movies, so they may film the next two back to back (like they should have done Spidey 3 IMO). They're talking about bringing back the core cast, but I wouldn't mind a reboot; a reboot that fuses the film with the current Marvel movie universe.

Boondock Saint 05-18-2008 05:26 PM

What villains are left that could span two movies? Lizard? Electro? Sinister Six?

I'd through Carnage in there but after the Venom disaster I worry.

jcmoorehead 05-18-2008 05:32 PM

Carnage would be interesting but I don't know if it'd work. There is the rest of the symbiote bollocks they could have those running around. I'd rather them just stick to one movie and stick to one villain. Spiderman 3 was an incredible clusterfuck of a movie.

Boondock Saint 05-18-2008 05:32 PM

BTW, anyone been watching the Spiderman cartoon on Saturday mornings? I love it.

Rey?

Rammsteinmad 05-19-2008 02:39 AM

I think the Avengers movie will suck because the hype going into it would be so huge, and comic fans bitch about everything that doesn't go their way.

Has splitting a movie into two EVER worked? The last two Pirates of the Carribean and Matrix movies were terrible. Kill Bill volume 1 was terrible, with volume 2 only having a few saving points.

Can't really think of any others.

Down with the splitting of movies.

Few times did I ever disagree with every point in a single post.

First time for everything, I guess.

Mr Regal 05-19-2008 04:07 PM

I agree the two matrix sequels were poor in relation to the first, but they did work. And the Pirate follow ups were pretty much the same. Not as good as the first but still good value.

I would love to see an avengers movie....it would be the most expensive film ever created though...the actors wages alone would be ridiculous.

Indifferent Clox 05-19-2008 04:24 PM

You shut the fuck up about kill bill volume 1 being terrible or I will cut your winky off with a samurai sword.

that's right I called it a winky.

Runaways

Is being made into a movie. Brian K. Vaughan to be writing the adaptation. Hopefully it doesn't suck.

Indifferent Clox 05-25-2008 02:36 AM

if brian K Vaughn is writing it's gonna be hard for it to suck

I'm posting this here since the last time I saw the bitch she was fighting Wolverine. Already looking much better than that TBS garbage years back.

What? Shut up with that bull shit.

Lock Jaw 05-27-2008 06:50 PM

Yeah, I've found very few people who agree with me on that one.

Still, down with splitting movies in two.

Cute. And look, the only two old Avengers with them are the guys starring in the recent movies. I wonder if this ties in the same universe as the two earlier animated Avengers movies (guessing not).
