Anyone watching Wandavision ?

The first X-man has crossed over to the MCU

SPOILER: show
Evan Peters showed up in WandaVision episode 5 as Quicksilver. Not super shocking because Quicksilver is her brother, but the fact that it was the Evan Peters ( Fox- X-Men ) Quicksilver is pretty awesome.

RP 02-09-2021 12:11 AM

Oh ya, the show is FANTASTIC so far.

Made funnier because they said that she had "recast her brother"
and his reveal was met with the 80s sitcom "WOOO!" special guest star applause track at the reveal.

RP 02-09-2021 12:52 AM

ya the whole show is a hilarious mind fuck.

mitchables 02-09-2021 01:42 AM

loving wandavision, great first entry for the disney+ marvel shows

SPOILER: show
i am not 100% sold on the idea that evan peters is playing the actual sony/x-men pietro/peter maximoff... like i'm kinda of the mind that marvel is just being meta about it, in that we, the audience, know that evan peters is quicksilver from another continuity, but in the MCU he's probably mephisto/woo's missing person/agnes' husband 'ralph' or... something 'recast' as pietro? but not actually the x-men quicksilver, if you get my meaning

like i know that wanda is going to play a role in dr strange 2 and that film has "multiverse" straight in the title, so it's not necessarily unlikely that he's playing the same character across two universes but... i dunno, something in me just feels like maybe not everything is what it seems with this casting

SPOILER: show
def think monica's aerospace engineer is probably a nod to reed richards though/the entire build-up of SWORD as a thing is making way for the fantastic four, which i'm keen for

i reckon it'd be super sweet for the FF film to be set in like peak space-age america, like the late '60s, and their accident/exposure to cosmic radiation (which also gets a mention in WV) is what causes SWORD to stay clandestine about what they've been up to for the past several decades/why they haven't been a big presence until now. like maybe the four astronauts went up, disappeared, SWORD goes to ground, and then they come out the other side of a quantum/time vortex in the 21st century; 50 years have passed on earth but all of 50 seconds for them

yeah, it's a little bit "cap gets defrosted 70 years later" but it'd still be a cool way to bring the FF in without worrying about continuity too much

RP 02-09-2021 01:46 AM

SPOILER: show
The whole multiverse aspect makes Chris Evans being in talks to rejoin the MCU make sense if you think he may be coming back as The Human Torch

M-A-G 02-09-2021 05:48 AM

It's the Marvel fix I've been looking for.

Shadow 02-09-2021 09:22 AM

A lot of people hate this show because it doesn't "fit in with their notions of what an MCU show should be". To them I say, fuck you. Enjoy the ride.

It's almost as if the universe Marvel created in its comic books is varied and filled with different ways of telling their stories or something. I laughed at people who would claim they can't buy the Netflix Daredevil existing in the same world as The Avengers. Well then those people shouldn't buy the Marvel comics universe as a whole.

Destor 02-09-2021 11:04 AM

im waiting for all eps to be out before i watch it

Seanny One Ball 02-09-2021 11:42 AM

You didn't wait too long to see "Cuties" though, did you?

Hmmmm?!

Seanny One Ball 02-09-2021 11:43 AM

I googled it there and the RT score is like 87% and the public score is 6% lol.

The best indictment of Rotten Tomatoes ever.

The only part that was understandably fucky about the Netflix continuity is that all five of those shows existed in an unspecified time perpetually between the first Avengers movie and Infinity War. That's a lot of high-level shit to be happening in a concentrated area of New York that doesn't get any attention from anywhere in the outside world, especially right after an alien invasion. But people suspend disbelief for a lot less elsewhere, so it's not all that bad.

How did you get on?
I'm still seeing 87% on RT and 6% Google user rating.

Rotten Tomatoes has 93% for WandaVision and 79% audience score.

Vision
SPOILER: show
I suspect vision is either actor Simon Williams and/or the missing person Woo is after

Shadow 02-10-2021 11:29 PM

Soooooooooooooooooo, I take it you missed Episode's 4 and 5 then? Cause um, if not...

SPOILER: show
Wanda stole Vision's corpse from SWORD and has reanimated said corpse.

Lock Jaw 02-10-2021 11:45 PM

SPOILER: show
She stole the corpse but it is never clear that she has reanimated it.

Also, F using spoiler tags.... you enter this thread you should expect spoilers from the latest episode

rez 02-11-2021 12:07 AM

is this show keeping RP and Seanny from wacking off each other? I'm fine with it.

XL 02-11-2021 08:07 AM

I’ve been enjoying it. My wife, who is usually a big fan of pretty much everything Marvel, dropped off after episode 2. I think the format could be a little “off putting” if you’re not aware of the setup.

I’m probably looking forward to Falcon and The Winter Soldier (FATWS?) a little more.

no i got that. And Wanda reanimating a dead Vision seemed like a good idea to me as well but the idea that she can't bring back anything dead and the arrival of "Peter" instead of Pietro made me wonder if perhaps Vision is something "borrowed" as well.

I have heard that technically the Winter Soldier and Falcon were supposed to air first so i hope we are not missing something that is supposed to be obvious,,]

Looking forward to more hints tomorrow night

Ruien 02-12-2021 05:06 PM

What was the opening from this week? Couldn't figure it out.

Blonde Moment 02-12-2021 08:18 PM

Malcom in the middle?
looks like my vision idea is a no go and I am not sure what to make with Peters needling of Wanda. I do wonder if this force field is making Mutants..

Seanny One Ball 02-12-2021 08:27 PM

Is it as bad as it sounds?
Is Elizabeth Olsen still beautiful at least?

Blonde Moment 02-12-2021 09:19 PM

It's great and well worth the sub

Seanny One Ball 02-12-2021 09:51 PM

So she's ugly now?!

weather vane 02-12-2021 10:06 PM

No I am not.

Lock Jaw 02-12-2021 11:39 PM

lol at Malcolm in the Middle style/references this week.

Also, hot episode... show started off slow first two episodes but feels like "business" continues to pick up every episode since....

Don't be a dick.

M-A-G 02-13-2021 11:09 AM

Not going to lie, Olsen looked damn fine in that costume. :o

mitchables 02-13-2021 06:46 PM

SPOILER: show
increasingly think i am right about pietro not being from the x-verse. real big mephisto vibes in the latest episode, not least of all (accurately) referring to billy and tommy as "demon spawn" and needling wanda for info about her powers

mitchables 02-13-2021 06:48 PM

also saw an interesting theory that
SPOILER: show
hayward is actually ultron in disguise on account of his evident vision obsession and a couple other parallels with a v similar character in an animated avengers show but i dunno if i'm totally sold on that one yet

Whedon, in addition to be a raging misogynist, was an idiot telling her she'd never wear the classic costume.

rez 02-18-2021 10:22 PM

I was about to give up on it but then the end of ep 3 happened...digging it now.

rez 02-19-2021 07:11 PM

I'm all caught up...can't believe there's only 2 eps left.

M-A-G 02-19-2021 09:00 PM

Called it! (re: the ending of the latest episode)

Lock Jaw 02-19-2021 09:45 PM

Think a lot of people did....

Shadow 02-20-2021 11:21 PM

When she wasn't IDed in Ep. 4, people had an inkling. Now is she truly evil or is she still playing a role that's the question.

RP 02-21-2021 02:38 PM

I know he's dead, but i'm getting major Kilgrave vibes after watching this last episode. The dark purple, the mind control stuff. Agatha looking to bring someone back from the nexus that she lost.

Does Agatha have any ties to Kilgrave?

Paul Betnay said the one thing that hasnt been leaked about the show is a actor that makes an appearance that he's been wanting to work with forever. Maybe David Tennant?

If anything she has more ties to the Fantastic Four than Kilgrave.

RP 02-21-2021 02:53 PM

But the MCU hasnt always gone by the comics. And this could be a way to bring Kilgrave back which I would fucking love because I love David Tennant.

Lock Jaw 02-21-2021 03:16 PM

Ralph Kilgrave

XL 02-21-2021 05:09 PM

Def think she’s using Wanda to use her powers to bring “Ralph” back/across/whatever. The question will be who is Ralph? Mephisto? Nightmare? Killgrave would be interesting though.

rez 02-26-2021 05:25 PM

Episode 8. Nuts

Lock Jaw 02-26-2021 09:54 PM

Walnuts

M-A-G 02-26-2021 10:19 PM

It's definitely putting a smile on my face. A bit of an awkward way to work in the name at the end but what can you do?

XL 02-27-2021 04:23 PM

I felt quite emotional watching this episode.

Shadow 02-27-2021 11:19 PM

But what is grief but love persevering?

FUCK YOU WANDAVISION! FUCK YOU SO HARD RIGHT NOW!

Gray 02-28-2021 06:04 AM

I imagine this is only a 1 season goer? So my question would be if this is going to conclude entirely at Episode 10 for WandaVision, will this then lead in to the Falcon TV series as that is going to be starting around the time that WandaVision ends?

M-A-G 02-28-2021 07:18 AM

Doubtful considering that they each are dealing with their own stories and Falcon and Winter Soldier was supposed to be the first show to premiere before WandaVision.

Lock Jaw 02-28-2021 07:55 AM

Wanda is going to be part of the next Doctor Strange movie, so probably going to lead into that. Still predicting that the Doc himself shows up in the last episode.

mitchables 02-28-2021 05:58 PM

i love this show a lot but man it feels like there's a lot to wrap up/answer in just one more episode... feels like this could/should have been a 10-ep season instead of the decidedly odd run of nine

it'll probably leave a few threads dangling for doctor strange 2 to pick up i guess -- looks like mephisto/nightmare might not appear here after all, though i really thought there would be a puppet master beyond agatha :\

Lock Jaw 02-28-2021 06:58 PM

Didn't really like the 8th episode too much... is Agatha even a puppet master? Seems like after making a big deal about it being "Agatha all along", they were like "Nah, it was Wanda" and Agatha just showed up and was trying to manipulate Wanda a bit to figure out how she did it and how she is so powerful

M-A-G 03-01-2021 09:09 AM

RP 03-01-2021 05:20 PM

I think with all the hype, the big bad might be underwhelming.

RP 03-01-2021 05:22 PM

I really was convinced it would be Professor Xavier and this would be a House of M type scenario.

M-A-G 03-05-2021 10:00 AM

Damn...Elizabeth Olsen! I mean...DAMN!!! :eek::drool:

rez 03-05-2021 12:05 PM

Just wrapped up the show. There's 2 bonus credit scenes...stick through the entire credits for the 2nd one.

Damian Rey 2.0 03-05-2021 10:35 PM

Welp that was excellent. Couple of really great standout scenes. One with the 2 Visions, and a scene with Wanda that pissed me off because it led me to wanting to see more.

Lock Jaw 03-06-2021 12:13 AM

Show was ok I guess... Probably could have made a "tighter" movie with the same "effect".

Excited to see Wanda again in Dr. Strange..... Wonder where we will see White Vision next....

Lock Jaw 03-06-2021 12:14 AM

Not quite sure what Hayward's whole deal was and why he would get arrested....

I for sure thought white vision would show up at the end and give Wanda a happy ending to the show but I guess they're saving him for later.

Elizabeth Olson: Man I'm so glad I've signed on to play the Scarlet Witch. So I know a comic's accurate costume is probably too much to ask for but can I at least get something?

Joss Whedon: Lol. Here's a dark red leather trenchcoat. Take it and be happy.

WandaVision: Hold my beer you pretentious pretend feminist fuck

mitchables 03-07-2021 07:35 PM

i really enjoyed this whole thing on balance and thought the finale was v good but i do think the balance of stuff left unresolved (for dr strange 2 to pick up or whatever) vs swift wrap-ups because they had to wrap stuff up was a bit off?

- who was jimmy woo's missing person?
- dottie was really hyped up as an important character early on then just... disappeared for five episodes and came back for like three lines
- we last saw darcy getting ditched by vision at the crossroads then she right-place-right-times it two episodes later to be there to T-bone hayward?
- what was hayward's actual goal?
- so the residents of westview are just going to do their grocery shopping next to a mind-controlled agatha and not feel weird about it?
- what was with the eastview cops?
- monica is just like "ha ha, i forgive you for holding a town psychologically hostage. anyway, see you later"?
- i guess white vision will come back later as the 'real' vision again? but override his programming imperative to destroy the vison bc of the ship of theseus paradox maybe?

ANYWAY GOOD TIMES

Blonde Moment 03-07-2021 07:47 PM

Haywards goal was to activate and test his Vision and probably market it

Lock Jaw 03-07-2021 09:24 PM

Seems to me that his plan was to rebuild Vision and use him as a sentient weapon, and was more interested in using the situation in WestView to figure out how Wanda brought Vision back...... and for that he got arrested I guess.

Fignuts 03-07-2021 09:31 PM

that's clearly going to be settled later. aalmost certainly in phase 4 but id imagine in a film.

Lock Jaw 03-08-2021 12:31 AM

Maybe White Vision will be the bad guy in Black Panther 2

Shadow 03-12-2021 09:39 AM

So this thing ended and I gotta say, I'm impressed. The last half was obviously done during lockdown and the story kinda suffered for it. But hey, it wasn't a bad final. What they do next with Wanda, that's gonna be interesting.

Also I love her MCU costume. It's flat out perfect.

El Vaquero de Infierno 03-12-2021 11:01 AM

The show did give me that MCU fix that I had been missing, and I'm interested where they will take the Scarlet Witch character in the future. I'm not versed in Marvel lore, but are they gearing up to make her a big bad, either in Dr Strange 2, or further down the line?

Probably not a big bad but just owning a larger role and learning from Doctor Strange. Her biggest act that you could claim was disastrous and bad, Brotherhood membership aside, was the whole House of M storyline where she basically broke down and then went on to fuck over mutantkind. I doubt that's where they're going.

GD 02-22-2022 03:29 AM

Started watching it yesterday. Pretty solid so far.

GD 02-22-2022 04:07 AM

Yikes! That was a very painful ending. Holy shit.
