I wasn't aware of this. Pretty neat.

Lock Jaw 08-22-2020 04:42 PM

Looks cool.... hopefully they can market the F out of it in a way that will make people forget the first one

Seanny One Ball 08-22-2020 05:06 PM

I didn't mind the first one too badly. It was probably a 2/4 film but I liked Will Smith in it.
Shit baddie though and it was too damned cheesy.

Fignuts 08-22-2020 05:29 PM

The first one was paced weirdly and had a one dimensional villain, but I still enjoyed it for what it was, and thought it got more hate than it deserved.

Did they recast deadshot or is Idris playing a different character? Because Idris doesn’t seem like a good fit for the character.

Lock Jaw 08-22-2020 05:33 PM

Idris playing Bloodsport

Who originally was a white supremacist gun-nut who could teleport whatever gun he wanted into his hands.

There was a black one after, who I dont believe was a white supremacist. Forget his origin now. I remember he fought the white one, though.

Lots of cannon-fodder to be had in this one I think

Fignuts 08-22-2020 05:37 PM

Ya know I’m actually surprised that in today’s PC obsessed culture, the name “suicide squad” hasn’t been called out as being insensitive.

Seanny One Ball 08-22-2020 05:39 PM

Bloodsport is the dumbest name I have heard yet

El Vaquero de Infierno 08-22-2020 05:42 PM

The first film is two hours of my life I wish I could have back. I will not be going near this one.

Jean Claude Van Damme would like a word

Seanny One Ball 08-22-2020 06:05 PM

That's why it's a dumb name for a guy though.

Nobody thinks beyond Van Damme's seminal masterpiece when they hear "Bloodsport".
It's one of those pieces of pop culture so strong that it will take generations to replace.

Pretty much when Van Damme's is relegated to pub quiz status in 200 years.

Fignuts 08-22-2020 07:17 PM

Blood sport is pretty much every c-list 90’s comic character name

Never mind, got this backwards.... the black Bloodsport was the original, and he was some crazy Vietnam vet who got powered up by Lex Luthor to try to kill Superman. White supremacist one came after..... they would later box each other in prison because the warden thought it would be a good idea

Fignuts 08-23-2020 07:06 PM

Fuck I hope this doesn’t mean the upcoming suicide squad game is movie based. I want rocksteady’s take on the comic.

Lock Jaw 08-23-2020 07:16 PM

Haven't paid attention to much about it, but it does seem completely separate (other than sharing some characters obviously).

Damian Rey 2.0 08-23-2020 08:47 PM

Completely it's own thing. Still has Deadshot in it (the game), and a tattoo'd King Shark.

Figgy and LJ are right in conjunction; it's so 90s, they used the name twice! Surprised there wasn't a Marvel Bloodsport.

I wonder if they're going to find a way for him to teleport in weaponry, or if they somehow make it a super power, or just try to change him into "totally not Will Smith Deadshot" and hope nobody notices?

Seanny One Ball 08-26-2020 04:04 PM

Does he have a car called Motorsport, a wife called Watersports and some kids he never sees called No Contact Sports?

Lock Jaw 09-23-2020 02:48 PM

John Cena's Peacemaker getting his own HBO Max show.

Guess he survives.

slik 09-23-2020 03:17 PM

or it could be a prequel

Lock Jaw 09-23-2020 06:41 PM

True I guess

Lock Jaw 09-23-2020 08:10 PM

Guess I should have actually read the whole article, def a prequel:

"Oh f*ck, it’s Peacemaker! HBO Max is set to explore the origins of the Peacemaker character, the master of weapons from the highly anticipated upcoming The Suicide Squad film, in the new Max Original action-adventure-comedy series"

El Vaquero de Infierno 09-24-2020 05:24 AM

I somehow doubt that the new Suicide Squad film is "highly anticipated".

El Vaquero de Infierno 03-27-2021 05:19 AM

I'll admit it; that new trailer is better than the original Suicide Squad film. But given how much of shitfest the last one was, that does not take much.

Destor 03-27-2021 07:07 PM

the 1st suicide squad had a great trailer

Lock Jaw 03-27-2021 07:27 PM

Yeah.... they really "Guardians of the Galaxy"d the trailer for the first one because it was big at the time.... then because the reception to the trailer was so great they reshot bits and re-edited the movie to try to be more in-line with the tone of the trailer and ended up a bit of a mess....

This time around they just went out and got the Guardians of the Galaxy dude and had that be the tone from the start, so I've got hopes for this movie! F yeah, Starro.

Destor 03-27-2021 08:18 PM

i do think it will be better...but its important to remmeber the trailer was super hype and the film was a fucking dumpster fire

Lock Jaw 03-27-2021 08:40 PM

To be fair, Suicide Squad wasn't the first and won't be the last movie to not be as good as its trailer. So, not like that was a unique "Suicide Squad"-specific occurrence.

Destor 03-27-2021 09:16 PM

hopefully 2 will be the most improved sequel of all time

Lock Jaw 03-27-2021 11:08 PM

I mean, usually sequels are disappointing because the original sets the bar high..... when the original sets the bar low... probably going to be easy to be better.

Damian Rey 2.0 03-28-2021 12:33 AM

The Harley Quinn movie was way better than suicide squad and was a quasi sequel to that movie. I have hopes James Gunn can save this and make at the very least entertaining. King Shark looks like he’ll steal the show.

mitchables 03-28-2021 06:12 AM

great trailer. i'm on board. pretty sure boomerang, mongal, savant, whoever pete davidson is playing, tdk, weasel and the rest of "team 1" except for flagg are going to die immediately—hence the need for "team 2", who seem to actually be the focus of the film

Sixx 03-28-2021 06:23 AM

We will finally get to see the Polka-Dot Man! My life makes sense again!

Destor 03-28-2021 08:57 AM

birds of prey was terrible

Lock Jaw 03-28-2021 11:31 AM

I quite enjoyed Birds of Prey aside from calling that character Cassandra Cain for no good reason.

Here's a good question:

With which films were the sequel (or sequels) better than the original?

Sixx 03-30-2021 09:53 AM

Terminator 2.

Destor 03-30-2021 10:17 AM

i think T1 is better. T2 is unquestionably more loved so i know thats a "hot take" but T2 is a summer action flick. T1 is a really good piece of scifi. imaginative. the "horror" aspect (using that loosely) is much more compelling. Arnold hunting. them being on the run. the terror when he shows up. it all has more weight. its a more intense film where as the stakes feel very low in T2 since at its core the film is just an excuse for explosions and the audience knows it.

Fignuts 03-30-2021 10:24 AM

I feel the same about Alien over the generally more popular Aliens.

El Vaquero de Infierno 03-30-2021 10:26 AM

Godfather 2

WELL PLAYED

Big Vic 03-30-2021 10:50 AM

Indiana Jones: Last Crusade was my fav of the original 3

Destor 03-30-2021 11:16 AM

i prefer raiders but crusade > doom

El Vaquero de Infierno 03-30-2021 11:40 AM

There is never any love for Temple of Doom, though granted it is the darkest of the films.

Fignuts 03-30-2021 12:14 PM

Captain America Winter Soldier

GD 03-30-2021 01:58 PM

That was a really action movie. Loved it.

Seanny One Ball 03-30-2021 03:59 PM

"Thor: Ragnarok" which proved that a sequel can actually vastly improve upon and make up for its predecessors.

GD 03-30-2021 04:58 PM

Love me some Taika Waikiki

McLegend 03-30-2021 09:39 PM

The Dark Knight

Big Vic 04-01-2021 08:17 AM

Spiderman 2

Seanny One Ball 04-01-2021 05:14 PM

Spiderman 2 was a really great cinema trip for me.
TDK was also amazing in the cinema.

Hmmm, don't think I have seen any other superhero films in the cinema...
Genuinely wracking my brain now...
Pretty good streak going if true.

Damian Rey 2.0 04-01-2021 09:16 PM

The Winter Soldier is definitely the best Captain America film IMO. Also, Infinity War and End Game are better than Age of Ultron.

The Dark Knight was excellent.

Godzilla v Kong was better than King of the Monsters

Lock Jaw 04-02-2021 02:28 AM

Non-Red-Band Trailer pretty good too:

I was going to post almost this exact same thing, but yes....I pretty much agree with this sentiment. Suicide Squad 1, Batman vs. Superman, and even Avengers just didn’t do it for me. Dark Knight trilogies and X-men are the only things that I really got behind and even with X-men, it was pretty much only First Class, Days of Future Past, Wolverine origins, Apocalypse (kind of), Logan, and the original X-men I and II. The one where Wolverine acted with the gooks wasn’t too bad either. This will sound odd but I think watching Logan and Professor X die in Logan took too much out of me as far as superhero movies go. I haven’t enjoyed a superhero movie since Logan, although the new Batman that will come out will likely change that.

Zeeboe 07-01-2021 01:03 PM

It looks like shit. It’s a sequel and pretty much all sequels are made because the first movie made money, but the sequels are always trash. “Harley Quinn” is outdated. She’s 2016. She should have stayed there.

T2 is a much, much better film than Terminator is. Terminator is a slick, stripped down horror style sci fi film, a lot like Alien with less in the way of fantastic dialogue and plot development. It is a great film but it is a high concept derivative. T2 is both a tremendously original film in terms of style and innovation, as well as being more broadly enjoyable. There is a far higher production value with an aesthetic and sound that have influenced pop culture ever since.

Seanny One Ball 08-02-2021 01:07 PM

Terminator evolving to T2 is like when Rap went from Sugarhill Gang to NWA

drave 08-02-2021 01:42 PM

Man, I remember when it hit the Blockbuster shelves. I remember being sick as hell and my mom inviting like 10 people over to watch it in the apartment we lived in. Also remember it feeling like "forever" because it was a long movie, but also the weird time distortion that happens when being sick.

Damn good movie.

M-A-G 08-02-2021 01:43 PM

drave giving me them flashbacks to video rental places dedicating an entire wall to a new release.

drave 08-02-2021 01:51 PM

Right? And they would usually have red tags instead of the standard blue because they were a 24 or 48 hour rental.

I remember moving to the East side and discovering Red Giraffe Video. Their rentals for movies and SNES games was 7 days, standard. That was where I discovered this strategy game called "Gemfire". Dunno why I liked that game so much, as its the only one of it's genre I've ever played, but I rented that game for a month straight.

Mmmmeeeemmoooorrrriiieeeesssssssss.

Seanny One Ball 08-02-2021 02:08 PM

Yeah Terminator 2: Judgement Day was so good my dad let me watch it when I was 7 or 8.
It coloured my imagination permanently.
James Cameron turned out to be a huge weirdo but I guess that’s the thin end of the wedge in Hollywood. Plus he’s smart enough to leave Terminator alone now. If he directs another Terminator then it’s because Avatar turns out to be a Ponzi scheme he wasn’t in on.

Fignuts 08-02-2021 03:43 PM

T2 is unquestionably a better made film. That said, the first film has a level of tension that, while not absent in T2, is severely lessened by the the sole fact that the protagonists have their own walking killing machine protecting this time around. So I can totally see people who lean more towards horror and suspense preferring the first film.

Seanny One Ball 08-02-2021 06:41 PM

There’s no argument to be made over which is the better film.

Lock Jaw 08-02-2021 06:42 PM

Not objectively, but subjectively somebody could like the first one better.

Anyways, I'm very excited to see The Suicide Squad.

Seanny One Ball 08-02-2021 06:45 PM

Yeah, what's the deal with a "totally different" movie anyway? Just two director's with different visions or whatever?

Damian Rey 2.0 08-03-2021 05:30 PM

The first director delivered a turd that the studio appears to have butchered due to meddling and wanting it to be more guardians of the galaxy. Then Gunn got canned from Disney for a bit and WB ran and gave him this franchise to go ape shit work and apparently it’s paid off.

I’m interested to see Ayer’s cut but I’m not trying to pretend he’s some grade A filmmaker. He’s very hit or miss, critically.

Fignuts 08-05-2021 11:14 PM

Like 5 minutes in and I'm already cracking up.

Fignuts 08-06-2021 01:33 AM

This was fantastic. Really enjoyed it.

Cena has definitely improved as an actor. He has some really good moments in this moments in this movie. He might actually be my favorite character in the movie.

Margo did a much better job with Harvey's accent this time. Feel like it was barely there in the first one.

SPOILER: show
Only thing I didn't like was Boomerang getting axed so soon. He was one of the few bright spots in the first film and I was disappointed we didn't get more from him in this one. Feel like he would have had great chemistry with the other team.

El Vaquero de Infierno 08-06-2021 05:17 PM

I actually liked this film; I'd say it is probably the best of the recent DC films, which isn't saying much, given how low the bar was to begin with, but Gunn definitely undid the clusterfuck of the first film.

I look forward to GotG 3.
