Rate the Game: Week 54
Welcome to another week, ladies and gentlemen. Last week we delved into one of the Dark Knight's most well-known entries in his video game career. It was generally well-received if not incredibly loved but it all comes down to the overall score. So where does this title fall in regards to our great leaderboard? It's incredibly long HTML code time!

I pegged this one as a possible top ten but what can one do? Maybe Arkham City and the rest of the sequels will have better luck...if they're in the pot. Heck, one of them might be this week's game! YOUR game to rate this week is Capcom's first entry in another zombie-killing franchise of theirs, Dead Rising! Does Frank West have a better game than those S.T.A.R.S. members? Is it a memorable classic? What say you, good people of TPWW? Rate this game and discuss and all that good stuff that makes you...well, you! Until next week! |
i mean its fun but not WOW. I give it a 3. very creative
I played the demo like 15 minutes and couldn't get into it. The weapons available like the golf club firing golf balls was neat.
I guess a 2 from me. |
Played the Wii version for about 15 mins and it was garbage. But I think that version was significantly different than the others so I will vote 0.
May I just interject here and express my disappointment in my personal favorite, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, getting pushed further and further down the list. :(
Also Frank West has to be a more enjoyable character than most of the Resident Evil guys. He's covered wars, you know.
PLayed the demo - never paid for the game.

But anyway, back to Dead Rising. This was the one that had that "7 Day Survivor" achievement that grabbed a lot of people's goats, right?
never heard of it
Was going to give this a 3, but then I remembered the time limit. And time limits suck balls. So this gets a 2 from me.
4. Great mindless fun.

This cannot be overstated enough. Fuck time limits.:fu::fu::fu::fu: |
2 as fuck. Almost a 1. The first dead rising was garbage compared to the follow ups. Also fuck the timer; however it didn't feel as bad in part 3, which is the peak of the series imo.
3.
On one hand, I've always hated the timer thing. Especially when you have *just* enough time to get shit done without any sidetracks or deviations, but the game simultaneously wants you to go exploring. I also didn't appreciate the first one made me *have* to buy a new TV to even read shit... though that's more of a dubious distinction of being first in a trend than a specific indictment against this particular game. On the other hand, creatively smashing zombies is hardly ever not fun, and you have to do a special kind of fuckup to screw that concept up (side-eyes Metal Gear Survive) |
Yup, I knew it; 7 Day Survivor was that achievement where you had to basically stay alive for 14 hours straight in that one mode. I think that helped contribute to a lot of Red Rings of Death.
I suppose it's fine enough but the pinnacle of zombie killing for me will always be Left 4 Dead. I wanted to give Dead Island a shot but from what my friend told me about it I think I saved myself a load of headaches.
Oof, just noticed the results. We've got ourselves a contender for the bottom of the pile.
