Mr. Nerfect 01-12-2021 01:20 PM

Adam Pearce is so fucking good.

GD 01-13-2021 02:32 AM

Is anyone still following 205 Live? Does it serve a purpose now that the Cruiserweight title is a part of the NXT brand?

GD 01-13-2021 02:36 AM

Also, (not that it matters) I won't be making PPV threads anymore. Feel like other posters should get the chance to create them...dunno.

They're apparently putting Dusty Classic tag matches on 205, so that means that I might tune in, maybe.

Mr. Nerfect 01-13-2021 04:23 AM

Shinsuke Nakamura is a better worker than anyone in AEW.

This is truly one of the worst gimmicks on the board. Has no redeeming quality.

GD 01-13-2021 04:42 AM

According to a post on /r/SquaredCircle, during a recent Twitch stream, Lita revealed that WWE threatened to fire her if she did not go along with the "Live Sex Celebration" segment.

Noid has admitted to not watching AEW, but can't stop telling people how bad it is.

Watched last week's SD yesterday. With how the gauntlet ended, it could set up his feud with Roman. I think that would be a really good program.

But with how WWE has used Nakamura, this will probably never be mentioned again.

XL 01-13-2021 12:11 PM

Yeah it could. Seemingly an out of the blue face turn in there too. All signs pointed to them setting up Daniel Bryan for Roman and that could very well some down the line despite him losing to an already tired Nakamura.

If anything they’ll swap Pearce out for Naks for the Rumble or put him in there with Roman at one of the shows between Rumble and Mania.

Does booking him well for a few weeks cancel out the indifferent booking he’s received for the last number of years?

And yes, I know Noid will rationalise why they’ve “wasted” him, or that they’ve brought him in specifically to fill a spot on the card and thus they’ve got out of him exactly what they wanted.

Bad News Gertner 01-13-2021 12:27 PM

He also really hasn't had a lot of stand out matches.

Evil Vito 01-13-2021 02:23 PM

Nakamura reminds me of Del Rio in that he's a great worker who phones it in 95% of the time.

Not meant to be a knock on him either, no sense in killing yourself in random matches when you're a good enough worker to get by half assing it unless it's a really big match.

Damian Rey 2.0 01-13-2021 05:03 PM

Going all out in NXT where you might have a TV match every other week plus the takeovers made sense. Doing in WWE with their previous touring schedule was a death wish.

screech 01-13-2021 05:04 PM

The fact that he can phone in it and still do good work is pretty great, really.

Mr. Nerfect 01-13-2021 05:51 PM

I’ve never seen Nakamura “phone it in.” Don’t watch every week, obvs, but whenever I see him I see a dude in the moment working exactly how he needs to work.

He’s not punching a dude as hard as he can in the fucking neck anymore. But his timing, facial expressions, how smooth some of his shit looks — he’s sublime. As far as his choices go in the ring (say what you want about his look, size, booking, the language barrier, etc.), does he have a single flaw?

The guy doesn’t look lazy at all. He always looks like he’s there to be in a fight. Del Rio seemed almost hypnotized half the time. Del Rio was silky smooth too, but nowhere near as good as Naks.

drave 01-14-2021 07:48 AM

The quality is shit, but this is still one of my favorite NXT matches.

I saw this live, was sitting in the last row at the top of the arena and it's one of my favorite wrestling memories

Mr. Nerfect 01-14-2021 02:44 PM

Nakamura has to be the greatest Japanese wrestler in WWE canon outside of Yokozuna.

GD 01-14-2021 04:12 PM

Funaki?

Bad News Gertner 01-14-2021 05:32 PM

How are we defining "Greatest Japanese wrestler".

Mr. Fuji arguably had a better WWF career than Nakamura (I'm aware he's Hawaiian)

Damian Rey 2.0 01-14-2021 09:30 PM

Nakamura is this era's Kenzo Suzuki. Tons of hype, jobbed out in title programs, then permanently moved into midcard obscurity. The one plus is Nakamura actually got a title shot at Mania, which was the beginning of his end.

Jordan 01-16-2021 09:25 AM

Well Pearce is out if the Rumble, KO is in.

WWE are the absolute kings of making something into nothing. I remember tuning in just out of intrigue to see this match and I was blown away. His entrance, his charisma and just how good he looked.

Once Vince gets his hands on someone, he makes sure he strips away whatever energy they have built up and WWE’s them (50/50 booking, nothing feuds, comedy skits etc...) until there is nothing to see anymore.

Lock Jaw 01-16-2021 10:56 AM

Probably because Drew has the rona so they have to take their other big title match seriously now

Damian Rey 2.0 01-16-2021 03:29 PM

Adam Pierce v Roman Reigns was easily the most interesting program they could've run for Rumble. Hasn't Owens been feuding (and losing) to Reigns for a few months now?

XL 01-16-2021 04:50 PM

Tbf he’s lost twice and not been pinned/made to submit.

Damian Rey 2.0 01-16-2021 07:25 PM

I know he lost a ladder match. Idk what the other match was, but back to back losses? Even if there hasn't been a definitive loss, seems like overkill with a fresh match right in front of them and an event perfect for that type of match.

Imagine AEW being good enough to announce a show 2+ years in the future...THEY CAN'T BECAUSE THEY AREN'T THAT GOOD AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Volare 01-16-2021 09:14 PM

Imagine a WWE thread that is for everything WWE period...and can't get more than 2 pages in more than 2 days.

Yet AEW hits 4-6 in here weekly....preaching to the wrong choir sir.

Damian Rey 2.0 01-16-2021 09:57 PM

They're gonna have mania in a 65k seater this yr? Why? Maybe they're really optimistic about a combo of vaccine distribution and Florida being a lot more lax on large gatherings. But still, why hold it in such a give venue when the livelihood you're gonna be able to pack is prob slim at best?

To be fair, they're prioritizing giving vaccines to seniors first. Given that makes up the majority of WWE's fanbase nowadays, they should be able to fill it okay

BOOOOOOOM!

Damian Rey 2.0 01-16-2021 10:56 PM

Verbose with a bomb. It'll be interesting to see how many people they can pack in.

Was thinking if they hadn't already blown the match, and if he was available, a heel Reigns w/Heyman taking on a returning Cena would be a fun little story for Mania.

Because posters like you bump AEW threads with literally ANYTHING you can. Example from the AEW thread:

No comment, no reason, just a random YouTube video that you HAD to share because "YEAH AEW!"

I can bump every WWE thread with random things too.

drave 01-17-2021 09:13 AM

GD 01-17-2021 10:08 AM

Can we take a moment to acknowledge and appreciate the 8K upgrade/presentation on Smackdown?
