For some reason I had it in my head that the 2nd season of Severance was already in the can and, presumably, could be rolled out whenever Apple needs some new programming amid the strikes. Turns out I was wrong on that, filming was nearly complete but not quite done when the actors (understandably) walked out in support of the writers and now of course they're on strike too.

Anyway, glad there's solidarity etc and hopefully everyone holds out for a good deal. But damn, I miss this show a lot. Given the strikes have no real end in sight I guess it'll have to wait til 2024.

Might be time for a rewatch.

Ol Dirty Dastard 07-18-2023 09:15 AM

If Hollywood dies because execs can’t let go of their greed, let it die. It would suck but fuckem.

El Vaquero de Infierno 07-18-2023 03:01 PM

On the recommendation of Newstead, I've watched Andor.

I quite enjoyed it, and I look forward to a second season (presumably there will be at least another season). The series was definitely an improvement on the shitshow that was Boba Fett.

rez 07-19-2023 10:43 PM

Tonight's episode of Always Sunny in Philly did Black Mirror better than this season of Black Mirror did....

rez 07-19-2023 10:55 PM

Diving into Dennis' mind is always a good time...and relatable :wtf::shifty:

Emperor Smeat 07-19-2023 10:55 PM

Finished watching the first season of Sanctuary.

The one based on Japanese sumo and not the UK murder mystery one.

drave 07-21-2023 09:13 AM

So my MIL is very....... unaware at times.

She knew my wife and I started 1883 and she liked what she saw. So she watched the entire season, knowing we hadn't, and comes in and fucking SPOILS EVERYTHING from the last 3 episodes.

Wonderful.

I will now begin spoiling everything wrestling related for the forseeable future. She is still very much into kayfabe.

El Vaquero de Infierno 07-21-2023 12:43 PM

1883 is glorious and your MIL should receive a stunner, a last ride and a final finisher of your choice.

1923 is pretty good as well. I don't think it reaches the heights of the other show, but it is worth watching for the countess lady.

El Vaquero de Infierno 07-23-2023 11:39 AM

Following Andor, I decided to watch season 3 of The Mandalorian. It was as watchable as ever, but by the end I didn't really see the need for the season to exist.

I've watched the first two episodes of the final season of Jack Ryan, and also the first two episodes of season 1 Vice Principals. The latter I'm enjoying a lot; Danny McBride and Walton Goggins are fantastic in their respective roles. Goggins is essentially playing a camper version of his Boyd Crowder character.

Ol Dirty Dastard 07-23-2023 01:47 PM

Mando really fell apart in season 3. You could tell Favs clashed with the execs and shat out some scripts. Like you implied, still entertaining but entirely vapid and without a hint of the soul which made it so special.

rez 07-25-2023 09:29 PM

Watching a couple episodes of, "This Fool".

rez 07-25-2023 09:31 PM

Then binge all the remaining episodes of Eastbound & Down (went backwards: Gemstones, Vice Principals first).

rez 07-25-2023 09:58 PM

The Bear any good?

Ol Dirty Dastard 07-26-2023 07:56 AM

The Bear is great. Funny but real and makes anxiety inducement an art form.

Just finished ep 2 of season 2.

OssMan 07-27-2023 01:52 PM

Watched some "Quarterback"... all these guys seem like "live laugh love" and "my wife dresses me" style guys... even Mahomes... hate to say it

Lock Jaw 07-27-2023 02:32 PM

Watched the first episode of the new Futurama. Professor's voice seems a "bit off".... maybe "tougher" for Billy West to do the voice now or something....

rez 07-27-2023 10:51 PM

I just hope the whole play on Hulu was a one off because it could get old fast, Lock Jaw

Anyone binging the new Twisted Metal series? I'm on episode 4...def can tell it has Deadpool writers behind it.

Lock Jaw 07-27-2023 11:02 PM

Think it is obviously a one time thing, like when they joked about the "Box Corporation" last time

rez 07-27-2023 11:26 PM

Yeah but never underestimate a corporation throwing their will down. Shit, barely got Bender voice actor back over pay disputes.

weather vane 07-28-2023 10:57 AM

The new Beavis and Butthead is pretty good tbh.

weather vane 07-28-2023 10:57 AM

Also this season of It’s Always Sunny was decent.

Im on episode 3 now. Will Arnett is great and all, but Samoa Joe has a great voice, not sure why they didnt just use him.

rez 07-29-2023 10:57 PM

I binged the whole damn thing but I was pretty high/drunk the last few episodes so I'll need to revisit them

El Vaquero de Infierno 07-30-2023 04:38 AM

Finished season 3 of The Witcher. They pretty much sidelined Geralt in those final 3 episodes; Cavill must of enjoyed that send-off.

I've rewatching season 1 of Foundation at the moment. I really like this series and I look forward to watching season 2 once all the episodes are available.

I still need to finish the final season of Jack Ryan, but Foundation has been occupying my viewing as of late. I also need to continue with Vice Principals as well.

Helmsphere 07-31-2023 02:41 AM

Just finished Righteous Gemstones and also started Twisted Metal, already on Episode 3.

Will also start the fourth season of Harley Quinn at work tomorrow if it's slow.

How To Become A Cult Leader

This is going to be interesting and I hope informative because I have some ideas.

rez 08-06-2023 09:04 PM

BB25. Who ya'll gots?

rez 08-06-2023 09:05 PM

the women are the alphas so far. I haven't watched cams yet.

rez 08-06-2023 09:06 PM

I know there's one or two of you motherfuckers that watch it.

Emperor Smeat 08-06-2023 09:47 PM

Twisted Metal.

Currently about half-way into the first season and its been pretty enjoyable so far in a campy way.

The trailers for the series made it feel like it was just going to join the pile of failed video game adaptions but it turned out to be a lot better or watchable instead.

rez 08-07-2023 09:33 PM

Just finished ep 1 of The Bear.

El Vaquero de Infierno 08-10-2023 04:24 PM

I'm ten years behind the times, but I've finished the first season of Peaky Blinders. That is some grand stuff; Cillian Murphy is great. I'm going to start season 2 at the weekend.

I've also finished the second season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. It hasn't particularly interested me, especially the more preachy SJW-esque episodes, and I skipped the musical episode altogether; musical episodes were old 20 years ago, find something original to do.

I might finally join the Succession bandwagon, whilst I wait for all the season two Foundation episodes to appear; I'm not really decided yet.

El Vaquero de Infierno 08-13-2023 01:46 PM

Over the past two days I've watched the six-episode series, We Own This City, which is by The Wire's David Simon, and looks at the real-life police corruption of Baltimore's Gun Trace Task Force.

It's not up at The Wire's level, mainly because it is at times a bit too preachy, opting more often than not to tell rather than show. However, the programme does a great job, in the same way as the aforementioned series, in highlighting how fucked Baltimore is as city and how it is let down by both those in power and those with authority.

Jon Bernthal also gives a great central performance.

Lock Jaw 08-14-2023 12:32 AM

Decided to randomly watch "American Born Chinese" on Disney+

Based on a graphic novel that I have never read but is by a writer I've come to really like.

Was only gonna watch one episode while I ate supper but ended up watching 5 (out of 8) episodes. Really enjoying it, will most likely finish it tomorrow.

Lock Jaw 08-15-2023 12:02 AM

Finished the season of American Born Chinese. Really enjoyed it, hope it gets picked up for a season 2.

Debating whether or not to actually read the graphic novel now or not... dunno how much of it season 1 covered... or if it covered it all and a potential season 2 would be taking it into original story....

rez 08-19-2023 01:20 AM

I think I'm gonna binge Haven again next week. I wish Castle Rock was given that amount of seasons for King easter eggs.

Blitzed through The Bear. Excellent stuff. Now watching The Patient with Steve Carrell and Domhall Gleeson. Pretty good so far.

rez 08-22-2023 10:24 PM

This season of US Big Brother is ...yeah. These are the dumbest contestants ever. Real bad....

drave 08-23-2023 10:59 AM

Is it Big Brother or the next presidential candidates doing things?
