New ep saturday

Destor 07-23-2018 10:18 PM

On occasion there's a delay on the dub and it takes an extra week.

Destor 07-23-2018 10:24 PM

Dub is in a 2 week delay

Destor 07-23-2018 10:25 PM

So make that an extra 2 weeks. Was 1 week when the season started but the JPN animation team fell behind so they dropped to 2 weeks.

Fignuts 07-24-2018 02:38 AM

New Alita Battle Angel trailer looks sexy. Fight scenes in particular look crazy good.

Fignuts 07-24-2018 04:53 AM

DAT fucking Broly trailer though, god damn.

Fignuts 07-24-2018 05:06 AM

Hiring a new animation director is already paying off, holy shit. Fucking gorgeous.

Does that mean I get a episode this week, or two more weeks from Sunday?

Destor 07-26-2018 02:15 PM

90% sure this Saturday is a new ep but dont hold me to that

Feel like Four Star nailed it

Lock Jaw 09-07-2018 10:20 PM

Yeah, it has been great..... I honestly don't remember the Gohan stuff being that "deep" in the original....... I mean it has been a long time, so maybe it was......

Tom Guycott 09-11-2018 03:04 AM

It wasn't. But part of the charm of the TFS series is the melding of actual series lore from every version of any dubs and original Japanese and any inconsistencies therein on top of their own lore that they fit in through the course of the series in the meta or in the actual plot and universe of the show.

I can't wait for part 3, and I seriously hope this isn't the end of DBZA. But, if it is, what a way to go out.

Helmsphere 09-12-2018 05:19 PM

I mean the Cell Saga seems to be the perfect way to go, then again as weird as the Buu Saga was, it would be cool to see them do it, They just got alot of projects. Honestly could see them revisiting the rest at a later time.

Fignuts 09-14-2018 11:49 PM

3rd and final part of ep 60 today.

So good. This whole finale was totally worth the wait. How often can you say that?

SPOILER: show
Completely shocked at the Season 4 announcement at the end. Thought for sure that after everything they've gone thrugh that they were done after cell.

Shadow 09-15-2018 03:26 PM

THEY SAID THEY WERE DONE! THEY SWORE UP AND DOWN THEY WERE TOO BUSY! AND THIS!? THIS IS WHAT THEY DO TO US!?

Well played Team Four Star...well played.

Emperor Smeat 09-15-2018 05:08 PM

DBZ Abridge Cell finale was really great.

Fignuts 09-15-2018 08:33 PM

That epic instrumental version of spirit vs spirit. So fucking good.

I have always considered Gohan going SSJ2 the greatest moment in DBZ (Followed by Gohan going Mystic) and I think TFS played the part incredibly well.

I was expecting it to be light and funny during the moment, but no they went all-in for it.

Helmsphere 09-17-2018 07:19 PM

#SCATTERBULLET

Fignuts 09-18-2018 06:21 PM

So happy that TFS didn't follow the show and do the ssj2 transformation twice for no apparent reason. Still one of the most confusing decisions in the original show.

I still say I believe that last part when I actually see it, considering everything that happened. Methinks that's why Goku's decision to stay dead was worded how it was: a metaphor for the state of the series... kind of a "don't give up hope; but don't hold your breath" statement.

The Manga is better anyway. There is really cool content that's not found in the anime. Main antagonist of the last arc is fleshed out a lot better.

Lock Jaw 09-19-2018 01:10 PM

It was never shown or mentioned, but it was more of a subtle Fuck You to GT

Fignuts 09-19-2018 06:19 PM

Freiza ark had its own separate manga adaptation when the movie came out, by the same artist, so they decided to just skip it when they started the ongoing series.

Pilaf and crew joined during battle of the gods.

Yeah, found that Freeza manga, but it didn't tell the whole story, it ended with "See the rest in the movie!"

I don't remember Pilaf joining them during that arc in the manga.... they just kind showed up.....

Fignuts 09-19-2018 06:32 PM

It might have just been in the series. I remember them sneaking onto a boat.

Dragonball has never been consistent. Regardless I still endorse the manga as the best version.

Lock Jaw 09-19-2018 06:51 PM

Ok, yeah, there was a boat party that was largely skipped over and suddenly Beerus was beating up Gotenks. It said "For the full story of the boat party see the movie!"

Apparently during a recent AMA, Kaiser said they wanted to do the Rooster Teeth thing of giving us batches of episodes rather then the way they currently do things. So....yeah.

Season 4 is how they'll truly finish off the DBZ content.

Shadow 09-21-2018 09:02 AM

Gonna be a super nerd here and say that the Live Action Bleach movie is good. Like really good. Ok so it helps that 3 of the main characters are played by Kamen Rider Fourze actors but still. Its not a perfect translation but what would be? You do get a lot of the same nice action and the fights are great. It does suffer from the usually adaptation problems these things have but its got the creator's approval.

Here's hoping for at least 2 more movies.

I will admit, I initially misunderstood what you meant by "Rooster Teeth thing" and got excited thinking they were joining up with RT and dropping their content on the channel (and thus making it watchable via VRV).

Either way is fine.

Has the Bleach live action movie been successful. Holding out a faint sliver of hope that it will do well enough to spark renewed interest and restart the anime. Its a longshot I know, but there are too many awesome moments in the last arc for me to give up hope.

Though I'd have to go through the whole Unohana thing again.

Not sure about here on Netflix, but it made 4 mil over in Japan. I'm thinking we'll be getting a sequel.

I really loved the glance at Soul Society that we got.

For real this time.

They're not owning up to the previous fuck-up, though, and just labeled it "season 3".

Yeah Bleach not getting to finish is garbage. Reminds me of when Inuyasha got put on hold for a damn decade, then they skipped massive amounts of important stuff and fast forwarded to the end. Really miss Bleach though.

Sepholio 10-18-2018 04:25 PM

I fill like Bleach is an anime that would benefit tremendously from the "DBZ Kai" treatment. A remaster that cuts out a lot of the filler arcs would go a long way.

If there is a Kai-like equivalent for manga, Bleach's last manga arc desperately needed it.

Think the last arc alone was almost as long as the entire Bleach anime series was in the US.

On a slightly positive note (even though I hate my spam filter; I just saw this even though I got it a few days back), it appears VRV is handing out a $20 credit as an apology for the inconvenience. That's a couple of months of everything else. And I can still watch Wolf Children a few more times before Funimation goes away...

Sepholio 10-26-2018 07:01 PM

Started watching Seven Deadly Sins on Netflix.....I really really REALLY dig this show for some reason. Meliodas might be my favorite anime character ever and I'm only like 8 eps in.

Destor 10-26-2018 09:45 PM

Show is an honest 10/10

Destor 10-26-2018 09:46 PM

I'd put 7DS in my top 10 fav anime. Maybe top 5.

Destor 10-28-2018 05:12 PM

Finished s2

Non spoilery thoughts:

Outstanding. Initially i was meh. Stakes progressed very quickly. I prefer a slow build in the background with a more OVA pace but by midseason this had hit all the right notes. And climaxed exceptionally well.

Very very very good.

SPOILER: show
The pride sin is fucking AMAZING and i want to see a fight between him and All Might in some fandom mashup in the future.

Where is Pintint?

Sepholio 11-06-2018 05:11 PM

Mob Psycho 100 is excellent. Can't wait for Season 2.

Also watched all of Castlevania. At first I feel like I didn't like it at all...but it grew on me and by the end I was pissed off at how short it is. They really need to have a longer season next year.

Now I am watching Re:Creators. It's on amazon prime video if any of you have it, otherwise I assume you know how to find your animes haha. I'm only like 4 episodes in but I like it so far. Basically characters from fictional worlds created by man start coming through into the real world and they start to realize that they could potentially rewrite and control their worlds and the characters in them by finding their creators. Really interesting premise. It is not dubbed however (as far as I know) so unless you don't mind subtitles then it isn't for you.

Sepholio 11-13-2018 11:22 PM

Binge watched s-CRY-ed again, just because. Prob watched it 3 or 4 times now.

Now I am watching The Devil is a Part-Timer. Seems different that what I would normally pick maybe, so I figured I would give it a go just for a change of pace. Still has a good bit of action but is more light hearted and comical and has a pretty interesting premise. Promising so far.

Sepholio 11-13-2018 11:44 PM

Ok yea, watched the next episode. Satan is a bad ass mofo when he decides he wants to be. Holee shit. Intrigued.

ClockShot 11-16-2018 06:49 PM

Adi Shankar, the executive producer of the Castlevania animated series over on Netflix scored the rights to create a Devil May Cry series.

And, he's gonna try to blend both universes together...………...somehow. Calling it the "bootleg universe".

I watched the original anime a while back and it was pretty good. So, with Shankar running this iteration, should be great too.

Devil May Cry mixed with Castlevania?

Sepholio 11-17-2018 04:30 PM

Yeah that is serious boner potential right there.

"Finished" Devil is a Part Timer. Highly disappointed. Not because it wasn't good, because it was. But it ended up being one of those short (13 eps) anime that was popular enough to warrant being continued, but ends up getting stuck in limbo. Like Deadman Wonderland. Really sad I seemingly won't get a conclusion unless I read the manga which tbh isn't really my cup of tea.

Sepholio 11-17-2018 04:31 PM

Now I need to find something else to watch and I don't know atm :/

Destor 11-17-2018 05:12 PM

Absolutely was and also felt it was one of the rare successes in walking the line between either being an action series or a comedy series. It handled itself well on both fronts without ever going off too hard in either direction.

I've always heard FMA:B is far superior to the original, of which I was a huge fan. But I've also heard it is very similar and is basically a slightly altered retelling of the same story for all intents and purposes so I have never been able to bring myself to watch it. Is it different enough or "more better" enough to warrant a watch?

Destor 11-17-2018 09:10 PM

The first third of the show is the same. The major differences start when the origional show got in front of the manga around the half way point. The ending is much much different and very much better in every way. Its the definitive version without question.

I loved it. The absurd tonal shifts and juxtapositions make it my cup of tea. I would have liked How Not To Summon A Demon Lord about as much, if it didn't go full harem.

I had someone who was both cute and in the middle of selling me a new phone suggest Ergo Proxy. I was kinda getting into it, but had to stop watching because of the whole Funimaton/VRV divorce. Does anyone know if it stays good, or does it trail off and get stupid halfway in like SAO and make it not worth the effort to track down?

Fignuts 11-20-2018 04:56 AM

Finally getting around to watching season 2 of Castlevania, and holy shit do these people love the series.

Every couple minutes Im marking out over something. Stuff from Curse of Darkness, Symphony of the Night, Lament of Innocence, etc etc etc

This show is great regardless of your experience with the series, but if you DO have a lot of experience your gonna have an ear to ear grin the whole time.

I also love the focus on characters and story. I thought this show would be a fun but brainless action romp, but it's got a lot more Game of Thrones in its DNA.
