THE MANDALORIAN

WATCH CHAPTER 1 NOW OR ELSE!

Lock Jaw 11-13-2019 12:35 AM

I did. It was ok.

dronepool 11-13-2019 03:16 PM

I have no attachment to SW besides thinking it's pretty cool after finally watching them years ago, but I love this show so far. Very cool.

Ol Dirty Dastard 11-13-2019 03:50 PM

I spent the first episode thinking this was about Boba Fett and was confused as to why he wasn't riding Slave I nor did he have his jetpack. Now I realize it's a story about a different Mandalorian altogether.

Eitherway it was prettycool.

Shadow 11-13-2019 06:12 PM

I cannot wait to see where they go with
SPOILER: show
baby Yoda
.

I enjoyed it.

It felt like a western but in space. I'm not a huge Star Wars person and found it enjoyable.

JimmyMess 11-15-2019 08:58 PM

This show is fucking awesome

Lmao this is my exact experience after episode 1.

Lock Jaw 11-16-2019 12:04 AM

Episode 2 was pretty sweet. Love the feel of the feel of this show

SlickyTrickyDamon 11-16-2019 01:21 AM

I hope Werner Herzog is back soon.

Tom Guycott 11-17-2019 01:16 AM

Boba Fett - no disintegrations

The Mandalorian - DISINTEGRATE. FUCKING. EVERYONE!

SlickyTrickyDamon 11-17-2019 01:44 AM

That was Vader's rule not Boba Fett's rule.

Tom Guycott 11-17-2019 02:19 AM

True, but it was still funny to think about.

Tom Guycott 11-17-2019 06:02 AM

Is it odd that one of the things keeping me hooked is wondering what role ol' Billy Bitch-tits will be in when he shows up?

Blue Demon 11-17-2019 09:11 PM

Just finished the first ep....so far so good.

SlickyTrickyDamon 11-22-2019 01:12 PM

chap3 today

Ol Dirty Dastard 11-22-2019 01:48 PM

Really good 3rd episode

rez 11-22-2019 02:31 PM

Fell outta any sort of love for Star Wars but I might check this out over the weekend.

Shadow 11-23-2019 05:32 PM

Heavy Infantry Mando is my new favorite.

Lock Jaw 11-23-2019 05:41 PM

The worst thing about this show is ruining the eyeball door droid for me. At Jabba's Palace in Return of the Jedi it goes what sounds like "Aren't you a blinky?" which as a kid I was like "Hahahahaha because it is talking to R2D2, who is a blinky!"

But in this show it says the "Aren't you a blinky?" line to the Mando too, so it is no longer a "funny line that vaguely sounds like English"

mitchables 11-23-2019 05:58 PM

this is the most video game show ever and i am HERE for it

also disney knew exactly what the fuck they were doing with baby yoda. license to print money

Lock Jaw 11-23-2019 06:33 PM

Matter of time before Baby Yoda and Baby Groot team up in Disney Babies

SlickyTrickyDamon 11-23-2019 08:18 PM

Yes.

Lock Jaw 11-30-2019 12:09 AM

Pretty "vintage" story this week, seen it a dozen times. But, it was Star Wars so it was great.

I liked that they tried to make the AT-ST a "terrifying death machine" instead of a "joke that can be easily destroyed by teddy bears with booby traps"....... that is until it was destroyed via a booby trap. Booby trap is a funny word.

mitchables 11-30-2019 06:45 AM

have we seen at-sts self-piloting/sentient before? didn't seem like it was being driven by anyone, and the red eyes seemed to both show the cockpit was empty and symbolise that it was piloting itself/thinking about its surroundings etc (as when it decided not to take the step forward)

i mean i don't have a problem with it, i just didn't think even the first order had automated transports

great episode again though

SlickyTrickyDamon 11-30-2019 10:42 AM

It wasn't automated. Mando threw a grenade to kill who was operating it in the head of the machine.

Lock Jaw 11-30-2019 10:52 AM

It could have been automated and he threw the grenade in to, you know.... blow it up from the inside.

That being said, I didn't think about it being automated at the time. Just assumed their was a pilot. No reason why it couldn't be automated, though, or piloted by a droid.

Shadow 11-30-2019 04:11 PM

The lights in the AT-ST has always been red. Cause...tactical or something. I dunno.

Kalyx triaD 12-01-2019 08:43 PM

The mech did seem unusually empty and depicted as so. It's not so spacious that we wouldn't see who's piloting it, and the red 'eyes' seemed very pronounced. But it could be just effect.

This show is the best SW thing since Clone Wars/Rebels.

SlickyTrickyDamon 12-01-2019 08:45 PM

Clone Wars was good? The movie sucked a dick so I never bothered.

Lock Jaw 12-01-2019 08:54 PM

Clone Wars TV show is good, yeah. Though there are some skippable episodes.... And some Jar Jar Binks-centric episodes in the early seasons too....

Innovator 12-06-2019 09:05 AM

Lock Jaw 12-28-2019 09:20 PM

Pretty sweet episode/season finale. Can't wait for the next.

That Darksaber sword he has makes him the leader of the Mandalorians. Going to be interesting.

I already did that IRL. I keep calling him Gideon Fring.

Given the story about how he got the role in Breaking Bad, I wonder how much if this irredeemability is scripted vs improvised?

SlickyTrickyDamon 12-30-2019 12:34 AM

"Let's go to Space Dunkin"

Destor 01-04-2020 02:28 AM

Proof that good star wars stories can still be written. Looking forward to seeing what not just mandalorian can do going forward but the brand as a whole.

Damian Rey 2.0 01-06-2020 03:23 PM

Read High Republic era is being rumored for the next film series.

Blue Demon 01-08-2020 10:19 AM

I liked this show overall, with The Gunslinger being the only kindof weak episode. Definitely looking forward to see where they go.

Crimson 01-24-2020 01:11 PM

Liked this show more than the recent movies. Funny spot when the two troopers were going back n forth about checking on baby Yoda.

Tope Suicida done by a pigman, no less.

Big fan of Tim Olyphant, so that episode had a special place in my heart. And I'm not even talking about Deadwood Olyphant--never really watched it (will rectify that one day). My love stems from Justified.

Innovator 11-02-2020 07:30 PM

Love this show

Shadow 11-03-2020 08:58 AM

So any bets on who that guy was at the end and why was he important?

Spoilers: I know who he is and frankly, kinda hope that's it for his involvement in the show.

Innovator 11-03-2020 09:58 AM

SPOILER: show
definitely Boba Fett, considering that’s the same actor who played Jango in the prequels

Lock Jaw 11-03-2020 01:19 PM

Yeah, don't think they would swerve us with it being some other clone.

Ol Dirty Dastard 11-04-2020 09:18 AM

Why are we using spoilers tags? ffs it's the god damned mando thread. Hate people who come into a thread that'd obviously contain spoilers and lose their shit.

Ol Dirty Dastard 11-04-2020 09:18 AM

Also, yeah--what Lock Jaw said. it'd be a needless, nonsensical swerve.

Lock Jaw 11-06-2020 10:33 PM

Baby Yoda up in here eating potential unborn babies and making it cute. She wasn't even mad at the number of her eggs disappearing because awwwwwwww look at him

Kalyx triaD 11-07-2020 03:51 AM

I imagine they're babies after being fertilized, but yeah it was kinda bizarre.

Shadow 11-08-2020 09:18 AM

The entire GFFA is bizarre when it comes to the food chain. You think you're on the top because you've got hyperdrive? Here comes the next skyscraper sized monster to remind you of your place on the dinner menu.

Holy shit the cyclops in the first episode was John Leguizamo

Kalyx triaD 11-09-2020 09:47 PM

Yeah I had to double check when I seen the credits. Kind of a waste really. I hate deep cover cameos like that. Pointless. And Star Wars does that a lot now.

teamXtremist 11-10-2020 03:46 AM

the spiders were pretty badass, i thought the child would reach out to them like Kanan but no

teamXtremist 11-10-2020 03:47 AM

Timothy Olyphant's character is actually from the book series, apparently in the book he used mandalorian armor to retake his city like in that episode but they never said it was Boba Fett's

Bonus info his fucked up speeder was made from a podracer engine that's why it looked the way it did

Spoiler but I’m not blackening it because this is the Mando thread.

Apparently Bo Katan ages as slowly as Baby Yoda. Great episode this week.

rez 11-13-2020 07:00 PM

Katee Sackhoff

mmmmm

Lock Jaw 11-13-2020 10:22 PM

Nice to have an explanation as to why all the other Mandalorians we have seen before this series had no problem with taking off their helmets.

Lock Jaw 11-13-2020 10:22 PM

Now we need an explanation for why Bo Katan doesn't age for sure

Ol Dirty Dastard 11-13-2020 10:34 PM

she was always hot in a CGI way, though. So I'm happy she's not old and decrepit. Just makes no sense.

Fignuts 11-14-2020 01:19 AM

The Mando being revealed as Death Watch was a crazy swerve. So cool.

Katie Sackhoff is 40, so it's not that much of a stretch.

Lock Jaw 11-14-2020 01:25 AM

I guess. The timeline of Star Wars always feels longer than it is.

Kalyx triaD 11-14-2020 03:48 AM

From New Hope to RoS the main series runs in real time, which is relatively not that long (even if we add the prequels which was just the Star Wars analog of the 60s).

Ol Dirty Dastard 11-14-2020 06:10 AM

if new hope to RoS runs in real-time, that's 40-plus years. Beyond that, Bo Katan looked to be in her late 20s during the clone wars. So, she'd be in her 60s or 70s.

EDIT

Nvm I'm an idiot. Mando happens b/w RTJ and TFA, so I GUESS the timeline works out.

Ol Dirty Dastard 11-14-2020 06:23 AM

I'd imagine Bo Katan was in her 30s during the Clone Wars since her sister was the Dutchess or whatever, and she seemed middle aged.

teamXtremist 11-14-2020 06:27 AM

FINALLY a good episode

Took them long enough, pretty rad. As far as Ahsoka knows there’s only on Jedi left tbh

I wonder if that means Ezra is dead or not

It was cool to see Bo Katan, I knew she would appear in season 2 but not this early
She’s played by the same actress who voiced her in Clone Wars and SW Rebels , ans she looks like her because the animated version was based on said actress

Ol Dirty Dastard 11-14-2020 06:35 AM

Pfft both first 2 episodes were great Xtremist. Especially the first one.

Kalyx triaD 11-14-2020 07:51 AM

S2E2 is easily the first 'bad' episode. Three ideas that could have worked apart, but smashed together.

Ol Dirty Dastard 11-14-2020 09:10 AM

At first I was a little put off by ep 2 because of the frog lady. But once I got past that I though it was cool.

Wasn't the best episode but it was good.

It's one of those shows where the episodes don't need to be individual masterpieces. Sometimes the visuals and the world alone can drive the episode

But if you're overly picky then I suppose you'll find reasons to dislike certain episodes. I say this as someone who's witnessed you (Kalyx) pick Star Wars apart. The way you watch things is not the same way I do.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to sit back and eat piles of dung. But I'll look for reasons to enjoy a world that I'm invested in.

Kalyx triaD 11-16-2020 10:01 PM

On the contrary, in terms of movies and shows I'm very soft on them and let a lot of stuff slide. It's videogames where I'm a pretty hardcore critic. The recent Star Wars output in the Disney era were simply that bad. My arguments were more than reasonable in the Star Wars thread after Force Awakens dropped.

teamXtremist 11-17-2020 10:58 PM

Lol the Bosch cameo was awesome but damn he looked seriously sunburnt.

Starbuck was a nice cameo too.

Fignuts 11-21-2020 05:23 AM

Great episode

Gina Carano kicks all kinds of ass in this episode.

Guessing that lab is the early attempts to clone the emperor. That's why they need the child. It's incredible force sensitivity is needed for the cloning process. Maybe they'll get midichlorians involved.

Lock Jaw 11-21-2020 06:40 AM

They did mention blood with a high "M-Count"

Shadow 11-21-2020 11:14 PM

Mmmmmm, that was some good story progression.

Always nice to see it.

I also assume its for the emperor. It makes me worried since we already know palpatine will be back, that the child will not survive this series.

or maybe it will.

Kalyx triaD 11-22-2020 09:42 PM

What's not happening is killing off the most popular and marketable Star Wars character in decades. But it does raise questions as to the state of Baby Yoda during events we know to have past, being that the Sequel Trilogy came and gone.

I think Palpatine already had his clone body/bodies ready to go since before RotJ, being the type of guy he is. This 'Jedi Clone' army may be Gideon's own side ambition. The series seems to deal more with Mandolorian lore than the general track of SW canon given the main character and the Dark Saber.
