If you people think I'm being a homer, you are right.

DrA 09-01-2006 05:51 PM

I also told myself not to give into the Arizona hype before this offseason, so I'm going to stick with my gut on that one.

I also think that the New York Giants could even make it to the Super Bowl (in fact, I would say that they are the fourth most likely team to do that in the NFC this year). But, there is going to have to be one team that underperforms in that division this year, and my prediction is them, them or Washington or Philadelphia.

I took the pussy route on teams like Oakland and Houston, since predicting their sucktitude compared to other teams in their division is near impossible.

Crippla 09-01-2006 06:00 PM

As good as Miami may be this year, they won't make the Superbowl. I still think the Patriots will win the division. Also, how do you change your avatar to a football team.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 09-01-2006 06:12 PM

Patriots are winning the AFC East

They play the same schedule as the Steelers pretty much so who's to say they won't do it? With Carson the Bengals can beat any team in the league. Without him they'd probably get torched by the 49ers.

Of all of those shitty predictions I made, Miami winning the AFC East should be one you question the least.

Evil Vito 09-02-2006 11:13 AM

NFC East is easily the best division in football, but I still have to give the nod to the Giants. It's just so close that you almost have to pick the team who won the previous year. Of all the teams, I think they have the least flaws. All 11 offensive starters returning is gonna be huge if you ask me. Gonna be a fun year and September 10th can't get here soon enough.

This is more about everyone sucking New England's dick for so long than them actually being better than anyone.

Could they win the AFC East? Of course they could. But the fact that anyone could actually say that they might not, undermining the wonderful "genius" of Bill Belichick, is now a taboo in football.

If the Patriots were in, say, New Orleans, people would have stopped caring for them a long time ago.

Looks like Priest Holmes is done. :(

The odds of seeing Priest Holmes on the field this season got much longer when the Kansas City Chiefs put the three-time Pro Bowl running back on the "physically unable to perform" list.

Patriots resting starters the last game of last season have nothing to do with that record

I still think the Patriots are better than Miami, the team has definetly got a huge upgrade at the QB position though so we'll see.

2006 Dolphins= 2004 Seahawks and 2005 Vikings

AFC Championship

Indianapolis vs Chowds

NFC Championship

Packers vs Giants

Superbowl

Colts vs Packers

I'm basically picking the Colts based on the fact that they have to win sometime right? Oh yah and Bob Sanders.

Colts Packers Superbowl would be the best Superbowl ever.

Evil Vito 09-03-2006 06:59 PM

Some curious decisions by the Giants...carrying 10 O-Linemen and only 2 TEs despite the fact that Wade Fletcher and Darcy Johnson were working their asses off for that #3 TE spot and its pretty much out of balance now (they have 3 backup offensive tackles...FFS, just put someone on the practice squad and use the other spot on another TE, CB, or DT)

Yeah, I understand Miami has improved their offense and already has a good defense but I still think Pats are a better team and for the record anyone who is doubting the Pats will suck my cock when the AFC East and probably more.

Hubris.

The Patriots have lived past their shelf life and it's time for another team to step up and take that division.

DrA 09-04-2006 04:54 AM

Also, why is everyone so quick to put Carolina in the Super Bowl?

Yes, they probably will be a good team and be in the mix to be the best NFC team, but I don't see anything that makes them ridiculously better than what they were the last couple of years.

They kinda look like a shell of that Super Bowl team they had three years ago in my opinion.

All reports I've heard say that TO has actually been a good guy to work with in the locker room.

The whole TO/Parcells thing is just going to be one of those things that the media is going to scrutinize and take out of proportion all year long. I'm not saying that nothing will happen, but it's unlikely at this point.

If Jenkins can stay healthy, their D-line = Rucker, Jenkins, Kemoeatu (sp) and Peppers. NOBODY will be able to compare to that.

I don't know much about DeAngelo Williams cause I've never followed college ball but from everything I've read he can and most likely will be the real deal once Foster inevitably gets injured. Throw in Keyshaun to actually catch some passes opposite Smith, Delhomme almost always performs in postseason, and Fox's coaching track record, and yeah I think they might be on to something.

Crippla 09-04-2006 10:56 AM

Carolina is a great team this year and for once possibly better than any team in both the NFC or AFC. They've already had the defense and There offense has improved a lot. I also think Keyshawn is a good fit at wideout for the Panthers.

Supreme Olajuwon 09-04-2006 01:43 PM

CanadianCrippla, if New England is so much better than Miami, then obviously New England must be significantly better than Miami in some aspect. I would like you to tell me what that is because I'm having a hard time seeing it.

Crippla 09-04-2006 02:20 PM

Watch the games this season and you'll see.

Supreme Olajuwon 09-04-2006 02:26 PM

I'm not saying they can't do well in the playoffs or even go to the Super Bowl. The thing is that every preseason prediction (I'm not exaggerating; every) has them going to the Super Bowl over every other team in the NFC. They're getting Philadelphia hype from two years ago and St. Louis hype from five years ago, but considering how much more supposed competition there is in the NFC than two years ago, I don't see Carolina as being, as of today, the unanimously best team in the NFL (although they looked really impressive in the preseason and all I'm working with right now is what speculation.)

I hope I cleared that up, sort of. Give me a week or two to see some games before I can actually give comments with validity.

Apparently, because of their new stadium and all of that, the Arizona Cardinals got to choose any team they wanted to play in the opening game, so they chose San Francisco.

That's such a low rent thing to do. If I was going to have my team play a team in a brand new stadium, it would be a team that would actually be worth beating.

Just watch, this is going to curse the franchise and it will be another two hundred years before they win their first play-off game.

Kris P Lettus 09-07-2006 11:41 PM

I don't know why people are writing off Pittsburgh so much. Even with Batch, they have a hell of a team. Somebody today said they weren't even going to make the playoffs. Come on, they lost Randle El and Jerome Bettis.

BCWWF 09-08-2006 12:18 AM

Also, why does your school have the NFL Network? I didn't think that was even available outside of a satellite dish.

Kris P Lettus 09-08-2006 12:24 AM

I had a digital cable when I lived in NOLA right before Katrina and I had NFL Network.. You are prolly thinking of NFL Direct Ticket which is only carried through Direct TV..

weather vane 09-08-2006 01:14 AM

The better team won tonight, straight up. I think Culpepper did ok for his first game back but critics are going to crusify him. The Steelers defense is just ridic. Let the Dolphins work through this loss and Sabin should take them to the playoffs or very close to it.

BCWWF 09-08-2006 01:40 AM

I have the digital cable package, but it doesn't have any of those super-specialty channels. We get ESPNEWS, ESPNU, FSC, OLN, Golf, Speed, and a few others. My friend with DirecTV has all of them though, like CSTV and YES and MSN and all the FSN's.

Mediacom is the worst cable provider ever though, so meh.
