That was unexpected.

Which part?

SPOILER: show |
That's been announced for a long time

I like that Keaton seems to have a pretty central role. Cool to see Affleck back. I’m definitely interested to see what they do with this.
Looks good

ezra miller sucks. predicting that everything will go horribly wrong, then be undone in the last few mins because "time travel".
It’s so weird to finally see a trailer for this movie, because the movie has been around for so long now.
I kind of thought the movie was just an urban legend at this point. |
It’s hard to release films at the right time when the star of them keeps committing crimes on islands
"Crimes on Islands" sounds like the name of a band that would be highly rated by obnoxious blowhards on pitchfork.com
Sadly that is the exact demographic that Ezra Miller should be victimising on archipelagos
If they beat up and rob a guy named Archie Pelago on an archipelago whilst screaming “Atoll show ‘em!!!” you know they’re just showing off.
In the era of cancel culture i have no clue how miller remains unscathed. Welli guess i do have an idea. He's in the club. Regardless the film doesnt look bad. My ideal scenerio is there's a scene at the end of this flash point story where a new actor becomes the flash and the credits roll.
Honestly I think it’s because his movies were so far a long they had to go through with them.
We will see what happens with him after this movie is released. |
They canned completely finished projects(see:batgirl)
The problem is so much of their "story" hinges on this one resetting the universe, so was harder to just cancel
And as long as that ends with a new flash im completely on board. I get the whole flash point arc is convenient for them.
Doesnt make me any more ok with the guy who is very likely a pedophile and at best a groomer as lead of the picture but i get it. Sunk cost and all that
Looks alright, but just oozes DC trying to catch up with Marvel and the whole "multiverse" thing.
Destor is right…if there’s one thing a multiverse scenario can do it’s recasting.

It honestly looks really good

boner

Early reactions calling it one of the best superhero films ever
Dope
Just wish Ezra Miller wasn't so "problematic"...
Having "mixed emotions" about them continuing as The Flash in the DCEU :smh:
If they want me to watch a film with Ezra Miller in it now they’ll have to bring back a previously unfairly cancelled person to level out the outrage.
I suggest Danny Masterson. |

Hmmm that seems fair but how about we compromise and go with Armie Hammer. That poor bastard has to live in the Cayman Islands selling timeshares because he got too kinky in text messages. I’ve never felt pathos like it.
We're talking about letting a pedo slide i think we can work some sort of 2 for 1 deal
And while we're on the subject of willfully not canceling perdophiles can we at least keep the talented ones? I thinj Kevin Spacey had a lot left to offer as a performer.
Kevin Spacey hates kids, he only likes pubescent boys.
That’s pure talent straight from the ancient Greeks themselves and it’s a fucking disgrace that Anthony Rapp was the guy to take him down. All for what in my head plays like a bigger boy giving him a typewriter. Shocking. |
They couldve refined a supply chain. Michael Jackson gets them until they hit puberty then spacey takes over from there. Least they could be efficient. Ezra miller takes em once spacey gets bored.
Michael Jackson probably is Ezra Miller.
He showed up around the time when he died… |
How come a gender queer is playing Barry Allen anyway? Barry Allen was all man. Need straight white men playing our straight white heroes.

It goes like this; only a minority can play a minority. A straight white man can be played by anyone. |

Early reports say that this is one the best super hero movies ever made. Feels like the same is said about every single DC film these days.
They need to fix these actor problems before they try to sell us this shit.
I’m pretty done with any Superhero shit now that both brands are pumping out duffers and retaining psycho’s with sexual issues. |

Getting choked up seeing Michael Keaton. Can’t wait. I hope this is fun. Decent chance I’ll see it opening day.
Early word of mouth is great for this
I just read a spoiler on Ars Technica and am processing it as I type this out. Holy shit!
Just about to see this. Will confirm if it’s the best movie I’ve ever seen.
If Ezra Miller wasn’t such a fucked up person he would be the biggest star in the world after this movie.
Ben Affleck’s bat-suit in this movie is the worst bat-suit ever put on film.
Tracking for a 4 day 75mil cume. Hopefully some good word of mouth gives it a spike.
With the extensive reshoots and reedits this was always going to lose money the question now is how much. Initial budget was $220 million but the troubled post production puts this into who knows what.
Marketing efforts havent been small either. Good word of the mouth though...with small week over week drops this could have legs. It will have to. Ultimately though i think warner know this is going to be a loss and are just looking to build forward. |
Gonna see it tonight. Really excited for Keaton. I was 3 and 6 when Batman and Returns came out. He’s the reason I fell in love with Batman and why he ended up being my favorite superhero. Returns was also the last movie I saw with my parents, just us 3, before my siblings got old enough to study moviegoing with us. So there’s definitely some sentimental value in getting to see Keaton as Batman over 30 years later.
I’m sure the movie will be fine. Affleck suit sucks but I’m happy to see him get one more quick shot at a character he really was perfect for but got salted with a shitty director way when for BvS. I don’t expect it to be groundbreaking or anything. If it’s enjoyable for 2 hours that’ll be enough for me. |
Also going to see it tonight. Already had one thing semi-spoiled, so I gotta see it sooner rather than later.

And there's still hope, but its not great. Cinemascore has the audience reaction as a B making it tied for the lowest audience rating of a DC property with Batman v Superman. For someone who wants a recast this is good news but for the people who love the character id like to see it perform a bit better. |
I don’t think it was getting a sequel regardless. I enjoyed it greatly. It’s nothing amazing. Just a decently good story about loving your mom and accepting your fate. Keaton was stellar. Gets a great sendoff.
I think this movie does have one of the best endings ever. It’ll never be paid off, but that’s ok.
This could end up passing John Carter as the most expensive bomb of all time. Warner is offering 2 for 1 tickets in major markets to try and get any money whatsoever just 10 days after release.
Oof.
Come a long way from the "hype" it was seemingly getting from critics about being one of the best super hero films of modern times.....
I did enjoy it and all but I feel like the "critical hype" hurt my experience because it was just like "that was ok, I guess". If the critics had trashed it and I went to see it I might have come out saying "that was great!" |
If you make a movie or really anything don’t say it’s the best … ever!
Just be like “it’s pretty good :y:” |
Again it is an awesome ending.
And the CGI is atrocious. |
Overhyping things is def an issue viral marketing has (and a ton of reviewers are just paid shills)
Do you think Tom Cruise was a shill?
Id say thats pretty unlikely. I think he's contracted at paramount so i lean hard towards no. I dont think tom cruise is a person id go to for good taste either but hey im glad he liked it.
My comment wasnt about this film as much as the state of the industry. Most of these reviews coming out today have been financially compromised.
Reviews are worth reading if you have already seen a film, if not they are as likely to misguide you. I’ve been using bad reviews as a sign that I’ll enjoy a cheap comedy pretty consistently for years with solid success. Other than that, I only read them if I like the reviewer.
I like metacritic to see what a general consensus is shaping up to be but I think the real strat is finding a reviewer who likes things for the same reasons you like them. You may not agree on every movie but if you're looking to tick the same boxes youll land in the same spot often enough. And that could mean finding a horror film reviewer and a comedy reviewer etc
I enjoyed this movie a lot. Cried like a baby at the end.
