Pumped but bracing for pain


I hope Randy Orton wins. I've started to become really appreciative of him of late and I think him vs Roman program leading to WM would be amazing.

It's the Rumble which I'll always be a little pumped for. It's kinda hard to fuck up a Rumble match and not make it at least be fun.

Can't say I have any emotional investment in the outcomes, so nothing they can do tonight would piss me off. I'm just hoping for a good time.

I’m curious about the show, but more the business around the show, and less the specifics of the show itself. That’s the interesting part of wrestling these days, lol.

Always love the Rumble, the most consistently good ppv in wrestling every year

I’m interested to see the sort of match Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley have.

Prediction for Women’s Rumble finish:

* Rhea Ripley throws out Lita and is the last obstacle for Bianca Belair who goes on to win.

I’m a big proponent for Ronda Rousey coming back. I thought she was excellent and is obviously a big star. But I REALLY think Bianca Belair should win the Rumble. Not just for this year’s story of her repeating, but next year’s story of her potentially being the first person in history to win three Rumbles back-to-back. You can then also promote Ronda Rousey ahead of time as entering her first Rumble, ala Kurt Angle in 2002. Those two become the big focus, and the finish can even come down between them. It could be a big enough moment to justify closing the show with.

I was totally fine with Sasha eliminating Charlotte to get herself into that SmackDown title picture too, but with Bayley ready to come back (apparently), it could also be fine for those two to splinter off into their own feud (maybe they eliminate each other?) or get another run as Tag Champs.

Royal Rumble almost always fun... best WWE PPV of the year :-)

I predict Kota Ibushi. He was slated to be ready to return at the start of this month, but New Japan weren’t in the position to build around him for that time, so it could have been a plan hatched when all this WWE/Anthem/New Japan stuff started kicking up, and he could have gone into quarantine and all that jazz by now. He’s also technically been in the WWE before via the CWC and I think he even worked NXT. It’s “obscure,” but it wouldn’t even technically be a debut.

Yes, it’s wild. If the Rumble piles up with the likes of Finn Balor, AJ Styles and Nakamura…be ready, lol.

The stadium set up looks really good for this show. Looks huge and yet not too big somehow.

I think a lot of these "Forbidden Door" predictions are a fun and all but I'm not expecting anyone to cross company lines beyond Mickie James.

But I always get a Domino’s Pizza for the Rumble. Can’t help it. It’s my “tradition”.

This is just something I want to see, as opposed to something I actually think will happen: In the Women’s Rumble, the crowd piles up with bodies and then a new entrant is scheduled to come down. The lights go down and there’s an evil girl’s giggle and Alexa Bliss is revealed to be standing in the ring doing that shitty fucking gimmick. The crowd groans, because it sucks, and then every single woman in the match starts putting the boots to Alexa and tosses her ass over the top.

It acknowledges that the gimmick is fucking stupid, ends it and could also be taken as the WWE poking fun at AEW overusing the lights out trope in wrestling.

Alexa doesn’t need to be fired or anything. But now that Sonya is abusing her power, she could apply to be Adam Pearce’s new assistant, now that she’s had her therapy and she’s all better.

You’re not going to make this evil doll/supernatural shit work. Even though Alexa looks good in the gear. She can still wear it in a team or a feud with Sonya.

I think Randy Orton wins because I dont believe WWE has any idea what they want to do other than to have Lesnar and Roman headline on consecutive nights. So I think Vince goes with his bread and butter. His most trusted and one of his more over faces atm, Randy Orton.

Yeah, and look, one is enough, right? It’s going to be surreal enough seeing an Impact champion walk into a stadium full of people. But it’s still just so fucking weird that WWE are doing this in the first place. I’m not going to be the least bit “shocked” if more is to come, for whatever the reasons might be.

Was leaning that way myself, but then I thought about his partner winning, and it makes a fair bit of sense.

It’d be a fresh guy winning they clearly like, isn’t robbing them blind on a contract and has been a focal point of Raw. I think Orton winning would still get a collective groan from people, as awesome as he is, because it’s “same old, same old.” Orton can be dumped, Riddle can get back at the guy who dumped him and win, and dedicate the match to Orton.

Orton’s character could win the Rumble and surprise people by still being dedicated to the RKBro cause (man, I’m talking myself back around to Orton), but Riddle’s gimmick just seems way more natural to have a WWE Title match in his back pocket and be doing scooter races on Raw.

Everyone and their dog will be waiting for Orton to turn, which can be useful drama, especially if it never happens. Orton goes the whole way and supports his buddy in being the WWE Champion.

I’d say Booker might’ve just blown a “surprise” except I find it hard to imagine anyone on the pre-show panel knows what is actually happening.

I think Lesnar loses to Lashley, wins The Rumble, rematch with Bobby at Mania. That's a story I'd like to see.

Then I'd have Ronda return, eliminate Charlotte, Charlotte eliminate Ronda and cost her the match. Then have Charlotte and Ronda at Mania but no title on the line, do a blood match.

Women's Rumble going on last? I don't watch RAW or SD and still have heard more buzz about that match than any other one

I’m just worried he’s going to slow everything to a halt, eliminate a bunch of fan favorites and take all the fans out of it.

But I’m telling you — Omos to confront Kane on behalf of Drew Carey and you’ve got yourself gold. “I’ve waited 21 years to get revenge on your freaky butt, Kane!” Omos can eliminate Kane and then get tossed out by everyone else in the match.

Brock winning the Rumble makes sense. It’s just…rote at this point. I think you can get there more effectively by subverting that expectation.

The only way to throw it off a little is to have Brock go over Lashley AND win the Rumble. Title unification match at Mania with Roman. I don't think people expect a title unification match.

To be fair, they’ve got champions appearing all over the place in the Women’s Rumble. And Brock has entered the Rumble as champion before. So even if Booker was in kayfabe, it kind of makes sense to say that Brock is going to beat Lashley and then try and go on to call his own shot and get back at Reigns.

It’s a bit silly to bring it up as a possibility if it’s going to happen, and even if it’s not, but maybe they’re just thinking “fuck it, think whatever you want.”

The women’s Rumble invariably looks sloppy even in the best of times. Many of them can’t bump over the top rope cleanly.

As mean as it sounds I firmly believe Doudrop got the title match because getting a woman her size over the top rope would look like shit.

I thought that was the smart way to go until they started making Lashley look like a bit of a scrub in this feud. But I dunno. Maybe tossing Brock around for 5 minutes will be enough to make Bobby look like a god?

Can’t stand Women’s Rumbles for this reason. You have women literally springing off the bottom rope to eliminate themselves. It’s so fucking stupid.

Progress in women’s wrestling is not to present the women exactly like the men. It would be to present the women in their own way, that suits their style, that can draw money.

Give them their own stips, and let it come out of an evolution of their work. They can do gauntlets, Iron Man matches and I even buy Ladder Matches between the two right women. But Battle Royals are basically big brawls. A lot of the guys can’t even do them well now.

Oh, that being said, I don’t think Doudrop got put in the match for that reason. She could be eliminated in a number of different ways. She can get herself in and out of a wrestling ring. I think it’s more they wanted a match for Becky — because they are proving they can have women in all these different spots and still fill a Rumble — and this is just the match they chose. It isn’t important enough to sell a PPV on its own, but it’s not completely unworthy either.

I’ll predict a spot: Just to prove that’s not the reason Doudrop is in there, Becky and her do a spot where she goes over the top rope to the floor.
