Reviving Pointless Wrestling Trivia

I remember "this was a thing" awhile back in the forums, so I thought I'd bring it back.

This time, I say we "pose a question" and once it is answered, then the next one can be posed.

I'll start, in 2001 who said "nobody is gonna see me beat you, because when they heard your horrible theme, everybody changed the channel!" I'll give you a hint on who he was talking to....

Jericho?

Lock Jaw 05-09-2015 02:05 AM

Edge and/or Christian?

Anybody Thrilla 05-09-2015 05:47 AM

Sounds like Edge, because I remember him also saying "Hey X-Pac, 1998 called, and they're sick of you".

Jordan 05-09-2015 01:55 PM

Not as bad a theme as I remember

DAMN iNATOR 05-09-2015 08:22 PM

Rock?

What Would Kevin Do? 05-09-2015 09:26 PM

Bubba Ray Dudley?

SlickyTrickyDamon 05-09-2015 11:15 PM

Def Edge in his promo about how he used to be Gothic but he changed his character and how XPac hasn't changed in a decade. It's called Quote Character Development Unquote.

SlickyTrickyDamon 05-09-2015 11:19 PM

Does the first person who got it right asks the next? Or do we wait for confirmation?

Lock Jaw 05-10-2015 01:05 AM

I will go on the record of stating that if I am right, I don't really have a follow up question to ask. Terrible at coming up with questions.

James Steele 05-10-2015 01:48 AM

What wrestler who is well known for his involvement in stables only has 2 runs as a tag team champion, both of which were with a different Hall of Famer from Texas?

Lock Jaw 05-10-2015 01:49 AM

My first thought without even finishing the question was "Triple H"..... Finishing the question, I think it is indeed Triple H....

James Steele 05-10-2015 09:43 AM

Correct. Triple H's 2 runs with the tag titles were in 2001 with Stone Cold and in 2009 with HBK.

James Steele 05-10-2015 09:44 AM

What wrestler is the only man on the current WWE roster to be born in New Hampshire?

Bad News Gertner 05-10-2015 10:52 AM

Probably some highly over-rated mid carder who only got a push because of whom he slept with.

MoFo 05-10-2015 11:22 AM

Who is the only person in WWE history to have lost and won a major title* in the same match.

(*not including Hardcore title)

SlickyTrickyDamon 05-11-2015 12:17 AM

Cody Rhodes

SlickyTrickyDamon 05-11-2015 12:21 AM

Westbrook Maine has produced two WWE Superstars. Name them.

Is he considered on the current WWE roster?

James Steele 05-11-2015 12:31 AM

He is regularly on TV and has headlined multiple PPVs in the past 3 years.

SlickyTrickyDamon 05-11-2015 12:32 AM

You consider him a man and not a god?

Durring the IRS Undertaker feud, The Million Dollar Corporation "hired two druids" to be lackeys to IRS. Who played the two druids at the 1995 Royal Rumble?

Lock Jaw 05-12-2015 01:36 AM

So, was the answer to the first question Edge?

I wanna say Jimmy Del Rey and one half of the most useless tag team of all time, The Harris Boys. Lets say it was Eli Blu.

Yup, it was Gigolo Jimmy Del Ray and one of the Harris Bros (not sure which)

Bad News Gertner 05-16-2015 01:28 AM

Name the only wrestler to defend the WWWF International Tag Team Championship, the WWWF Tag Team Championship and WWF Tag Team Championship.

SlickyTrickyDamon 05-16-2015 02:56 AM

Either Fuji or Tanaka. Probably Tanaka.

Bad News Gertner 05-16-2015 08:00 AM

Noppers. Fuji is a good guess.

Hint: he had a different gimmick/name while defending each belt

Nicky Fives 05-16-2015 05:34 PM

Nikolai Volkoff

Bad News Gertner 05-16-2015 06:43 PM

Correct boy wonder!

International WWWF Title as Bepo Mongol. Nikolai used to be billed from Mongolia

WWWF Tag Team Title: Killer Kowalski and Big John Studd wore black masks and called themselves the Executioners and.became WWWF tag champs. Well one day a third black masked man showed up and defended the tag belts, known as Executioner #3. That man was Nikolai Volkoff. It also caused the team to be stripped of the titles.

WWF Tag Team Belt: with Iron Sheik of course.

SlickyTrickyDamon 05-16-2015 06:49 PM

Who competed and who won the first ever match carried live over the WWE Network?

Lock Jaw 05-16-2015 07:26 PM

Pretty sure it was Cesaro at the first NXT special?

SlickyTrickyDamon 05-16-2015 09:05 PM

Your answer should be Sami zayn vs. Cesaro with Cesaro winning but still incorrect

Rusev defeating Sheamus for the US Title?

SlickyTrickyDamon 05-16-2015 09:18 PM

Nope.

Droford 05-16-2015 09:42 PM

You would think Cesaro Def Sami Zayn at NXT Arrival..probably an episode of main event though

Droford 05-16-2015 09:48 PM

Titus O'Neil Def Zack Ryder

SlickyTrickyDamon 05-16-2015 09:51 PM

No but droford is on the right track

Droford 05-16-2015 10:04 PM

It actually has to be ArrivaL which was live on 2/27, the network launched on 2/24, the first live main event was 3/4 and superstars was never live

SlickyTrickyDamon 05-16-2015 10:04 PM

Clue 1: Winning wrestler got his name mispronounced by a Nascar Dude.

Clue 2: Losing Wrestler is Lebanese.

SlickyTrickyDamon 05-16-2015 10:04 PM

Kofi Kingston Defeated Damien Sandow on the Raw Pre-show (match taped for WWE Superstars) but aired live for the pre-show festivities.

Bad News Gertner 05-16-2015 10:09 PM

Who was the first 5 time WWF tag team.champion

SlickyTrickyDamon 05-16-2015 10:12 PM

Billy Gunn?

Droford 05-16-2015 10:14 PM

I wanted to say Mr fuji and then I looked it up and it wasnt

Bad News Gertner 05-16-2015 10:15 PM

Noppers to both. Droford is in the right era.

SlickyTrickyDamon 05-16-2015 10:15 PM

nvm I'm wrong but based on judgment call there could be two answers.

Bad News Gertner 05-16-2015 10:20 PM

Hint: he still works for the company

Bad News Gertner 05-16-2015 10:26 PM

Tony Garea

Dean Ho once
Haystacks Calhoun once
Larry Zbyszko once
Rick Martel twice

Dean, Calhoun and Zbyszko were WWWF
Martel WWF.

SlickyTrickyDamon 05-16-2015 10:30 PM

So the answer is Mike Rotundo then?

Two as US Express and 3 as Money Inc.

Bad News Gertner 05-16-2015 10:31 PM

Which foreign object caused the U.S Express to lose the Tag Straps to the Dream Team

SlickyTrickyDamon 05-16-2015 10:31 PM

If it wasn't for pointless House show title changes Billy Gunn would be the answer! :D

I should have just worded it "first 5 time tag champ in the company"

Btw, you'd think Tony Garea would be in the Hall of Fame, although I thought he was awful.

SlickyTrickyDamon 05-16-2015 10:33 PM

He isnt? He reminds me of Dennis Stamp with his looks.

Nope. Looking back, you'd think he would have went in with Johnny Rodz and Baron Scicluna: company guys who were around for a long time.

Tony had a waaaaay better career. He was literally the first tag team specialist in the company. He more often than not lost all his singles matches, but was unbeatable in teams.

SlickyTrickyDamon 05-16-2015 10:36 PM

Shows how much Vince values tag team wrestling.

Bad News Gertner 05-16-2015 10:38 PM

His dad was the same. There were some awful teams who held the belts in the 70's. They were really treated as second class belts.

Bad News Gertner 05-16-2015 10:40 PM

Hint: a valet in the mid-late 90's used to carry this object with her to the ring.

SlickyTrickyDamon 05-16-2015 10:48 PM

Johnny Valiant's Cigar

Bad News Gertner 05-16-2015 10:49 PM

For What reason was Jerry the King Lawler disqualified in the Karate Fighter's Holiday Tournament?

Bad News Gertner 05-16-2015 11:14 PM

Didn't he glue his fighters legs down or s something ridiculous like that

DAMN iNATOR 05-17-2015 02:38 AM

You were on the right track, though.

This one is pretty easy, what was the name of Adrian Neville's first tag team partner he won gold with in NXT (and what was the team name)?

Bad News Gertner 05-17-2015 04:38 PM

Oliver Grey. British Ambition.

Bad News Gertner 05-22-2015 06:20 PM

SlickyTrickyDamon 05-22-2015 06:22 PM

Xpac on Kane?

DAMN iNATOR 05-22-2015 06:35 PM

Or Kane on Chyna maybe?

At any rate, anyone who's ever used it ultimately needs to thank the original Sheik for innovating it way back when.

Nicky Fives 05-22-2015 06:59 PM

its not WWF, but lets all laugh at Hogan's attempt at Halloween Havoc versus Warrior (my guess is Kane on Chyna as well)

As Chris Hardwick on @Midnight would say, Points!

Your question, BNG.

DAMN iNATOR 05-26-2015 07:38 PM

I was originally going to ask what titles unified to make the IC title, but apparently the story I've heard is at least in part a lie.

I always thought Patterson unified the WWF North American and South American Heavyweight titles, but it appears there never was a WWF South American Heavyweight Championship, instead the Intercontinental Championship originally only represented the continents of North and South America, which may or may not explain how the European Championship came into being.
