T-Lo v. Johnny Ace Speculation
Now this is merely speculation on my part, and I haven't read anything about plans for this to actually happen, but judging from Raw, it looks like there's a chance that we'll get a match at Wrestlemania involving Theodore Long and John Laurinitas to see who gains control of both Raw and Smackdown.
It would be foolish and downright insulting to have the actual match be between the two of them, so I was thinking that maybe both men will find representatives and THOSE two will have a match. Otunga seems like a pretty clear choice for John's side. Who will be on Teddy's side? Maybe it'll be some sort of multi-man tag match involving Christian/Del Rio/Mark Henry as well? Are they even healthy enough to wrestle yet? I dunno, I'm just thinking about the situation out loud at this point. How do you guys think it'll go down? |
From Noid's Mania Card Thread...

They have 6 weeks to heal.
After the promo at the last PPV, I think there is no doubt it will be Christian, ADR and Henry, and probably Otunga in an 8 man tag. 8 Man tag matches have become a pretty common addition to WM the last few years. We hit this up a bit in the raw thread, would love to see Orton, Kofi, Santino and Anyone else that fits (Returning Rey? Young guy they are pushing like Ryan, Clay etc) facing those 4. |
I like the idea of each of them having a representative, although Christian and Del Rio have been ready to wrestle for a few weeks now and Henry wrestled last night
|
Oh thank god, I thought you meant I the ring for a second there.
I'm not saying it won't happen, but with MITB allegedly being back on the card, I don't think it could support a multi-man tag match with enough talent to support that and MITB. However, make MITB an even number of people and split them between Johhny's guys and Tesdy's guys for a little team element on top of going for the briefcase and decide it that way and it could be delightful. |
Should have saved this Angle for Bragging Rights if they're bringing that PPV back.
|
Team Money in the Bank...that might be kinda awesome.
|
I don't mind Money in the Bank at Wrestlemania, and I actually prefer it there...but do they plan on keeping the Money in the Bank PPV still? If so, it's overkill.
|

Also, if there is a MitB, the likes of Christian, Cody, Del Rio, etc. should be in there. |
Quote:
|
They've already scrapped the Mitb PPV haven't they?
Also yeah I mentioned in another thread where I was trying to fit guys into both an 8 man tag for this as well as a Mitb but ran out of eligible faces quite quickly. |

Instead, lets have Teddy Long Vs Johnny Ace in a steel cage match.

called this before the chamber, either a one on one or Johnny Ace/Otunga vs. Teddy Long/Santino

want it to happen too, would be funny as fuck just like Cole v Lawler last yr.

Teddy Long vs. Johnny Ace *SD, RAW spoilers
As we saw at the Elimination Chamber, several superstars have sided with Johnny Ace and his bid to take over WWE television.
Teddy Long will not stand for this and the feud escalated at the end of this week's live Smackdown. No one wants to see these two in an actual wrestling match and I'm sure WWE management would not put it on. Could there be a potential tag match/ elimination-tag match at Wrestlemania to settle the score? Henry, Christian, Otunga, Del Rio vs. Santino, Justin Gabriel, "blank," "blank," I know there is a MITB match too, but guys like Kofi, Miz, R-Truth, Ziggler, etc.. should be in that... imo. Does anyone think this could go through? Any other suggestions on who could be in the match? Any shocking return entrants or Legends who could add to this? |
|
Money in the Bank:
1. Cody Rhodes 2. Dolph Ziggler 3. Jack Swagger 4. Justin Gabriel 5. Kane 6. Kofi Kingston 7. The Miz 8. R-Truth 9. Randy Orton 10. Ted DiBiase Team Laurinaitis vs. Team Long: Alberto Del Rio Christian David Otunga Drew McIntyre Mark Henry Vs. Big Show The Great Khali Rey Mysterio Santino Marella Shaquille O'Neal * Dolph Ziggler wins Money in the Bank while Team Long defeats Team Laurinaitis after Drew McIntyre turns on the heels and helps Shaq get the pin on David Otunga. |
So, whatever team wins that person gets power right? Is that how we're doing it. Could just be David Otunga vs. some Smackdown guy for it.

i can see a ten man tag featuring
team laurinaitus mark herny david otunga christian alberto del rio jack swagger vs team long santino ezeikal jackson randy orton (if not in anything else if so drew mcintrye) big show rey mysterio (if heatlhy if not justin gabriel) |
The way Big Zeke keeps getting bodied by Otunga, I dunno if he'll have a spot on the card or not. I'd be fine without him, honestly.

I think an 8-man tag and an 8-man MITB is a great idea. I don't like guys not getting on Mania when a lot of them deserve it.
Team Larry - Mark Henry, Otunga, Swagger, and Cody vs Team Teddy - Big Show, Santino, Big Zeke, and Shaq (I guess) MITB - Alberto Del Rio, Christian, Rey Rey, Dolph, Kofi, Orton, Gaybriel, and R-Truth |
I would rather have ADR, Xian, and Rey in the tag match. It's easier to cover for ring rust if you put them in something where they basically only need to do their key spots than something with the expectations of MITB.
ADR, Christian, Henry, and Otunga vs. Rey, Santino, Zeke, and Khali MITB - Orton vs. Dolph vs. Miz vs. Truth vs. Kofi vs. Drew vs. Gabriel vs. Swagger Throw in Show vs. Cody, Beth vs. Kharma, and Ryder vs. Kane and that's a solid undercard to support the four big matches. |
Teddy Long is horrible btw, absolutely horrible.

Wouldn't mind having MITB excluded from WM actually just as long it's not scrapped altogether and take place on a different PPV instead.
|
If the MITB Match is scrapped from WrestleMania, then I wouldn't mind it finding a new home at SummerSlam.
As for Team Johnny vs Team Long, Big Johnny's Team is pretty much set in stone. Alberto Del Rio Christian David Otunga Mark Henry I can see Big Zeke being included in Long's team, along with Santino too, with it possibly being Santino that wins it for the team. I was also thinking that Big Show could make the team, but it's quite obvious from Monday that he'll be facing Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania and most likely for the Intercontinental Championship. So thinking more about Long's team, I could see it being like this.... Ezekiel Jackson Justin Gabriel Santino Marella And a returning Rey Mysterio |
I can't see Jackson and Gabriel getting a WM payday over other people if they are leaving out the Mitb. Maybe put Kofi and R-Truth in their place in those teams.
On the other hand, I've got a feeling we might get Kofi and R-Truth vs Ziggler and Swagger for the tag titles, with one of the teams picking the belts up from Primo and Epico in the next couple of weeks. |
Well I was thinking that, hence why Kofi and Truth aren't on the teams I mentioned. I get the feeling that the Tag Team Championships will be on the line and we'll see something like the Fatal Four-Way Tag Team Match we saw at WrestleMania XX.
If it is indeed a Fatal Four-Way Tag Team Match, then I can see it being.... Epico & Primo vs Kingston & Truth vs Swagger & Ziggler vs The Usos. |
Through all of this, I can't think of a match for The Miz :-\
|
That's a problem? Shit, the way Miz has been going on TV I don't wanna see him.
|
Quote:
But I can't think of a place for him on the card either. Unless he takes Barrett's place and faces Orton, in what I would imagine being him pretty much jobbing in fantastic style. :-\ |
Maybe The Miz will be in Daniel Bryan's corner.
|
Quote:
At this point, I'd even be ok with Miz being a guest ref in the DB/Sheamus match. |
I wouldn't even be surprised if The Miz tried to get himself added to the match to make it a 3-way, since he's so obsessed with main eventing Wrestlemania. I just think he'll be involved in that match some way.
|
I'm almost certain of that ABT. Not using Miz at WM would be a complete waste, regardless of how much backstage heat he may have.
|
WrestleMania turning out something like this would not surprise me one bit:
The Rock vs. John Cena WWE Championship CM Punk (c) vs. Chris Jericho World Heavyweight Championship Daniel Bryan (c) vs. Sheamus Hell in a Cell The Undertaker vs. Triple H The Miz vs. Randy Orton Team Laurinaitis vs. Team Long Alberto Del Rio, Christian, David Otunga, Drew McIntyre & Mark Henry vs. The Great Khali, Justin Gabriel, Rey Mysterio, Santino Marella and someone like Ezekiel Jackson, Mason Ryan, Ted DiBiase or even Alex Riley (depending on who they want to give the pay-day to) Kane vs. Zack Ryder Intercontinental Championship Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Big Show Divas Championship Beth Phoenix (c) vs. Kharma WWE Tag Team Championship Kofi Kingston & R-Truth (c) vs. Dolph Ziggler & Jack Swagger The biggest question mark is just which faces they want in Team Long. They have had Ezekiel Jackson aligned with Teddy Long lately, but he just doesn't seem like he'd be a good fit for the PPV. He's been getting schooled by David Otunga, possibly just to get Otunga over. They slipped Justin Gabriel onto the Elimination Chamber PPV, so maybe they really want to get the kid over? They should probably have some solid workers in there, and not just big men they want to get over in time. That's why I went with Mason Ryan or Ezekiel Jackson. Right now, I think the WWE might have slightly more long-term interest in Ryan. I do think that Alex Riley would be much better choice, but he seems to have pissed someone off. Kane vs. Zack Ryder may also not have a match, but both men will be on the PPV. Perhaps Kane will just attack Ryder, or something? Or maybe Ryder will save Eve from destruction at Kane's hands, even though she's a bitch, just because he's a nice guy like that. The Miz vs. Randy Orton makes total sense in context to what is going on over on SmackDown! -- what with The Miz suddenly being on Bryan's dick, not having anything to do for WrestleMania and Randy Orton being put on the shelf with Bryan. It's easy to arrange some sort of Orton vs. Miz encounter from that. It's possible that they might get involved in the World Title picture more directly, though. |
Fun fact I realised while trying to decide who I would predict winners in a Kofi Kingston/R-Truth vs. Dolph Ziggler/Jack Swagger match: The WWE Tag Team Championship have not changed hands at a WrestleMania ever. The official WWE.com history lists them as the titles created on SmackDown! in 2002 (for whatever reason they chose this as the dominant history). To find a Tag Team Title change at WrestleMania, you have to go back to Edge & Christian winning the World Tag Team Titles at WrestleMania 2000. Well, I guess you could count Carlito & Primo winning the World Tag Team Titles at WrestleMania XXV, but that wasn't on the main show.
|
Also, I'm too lazy to really go back and check this, but I have a feeling that Santino Marella has actually technically defeated more people at WrestleMania than anyone else. Performing as Santina Marella, he beat 24 other girls in a Battle Royal at WrestleMania XXV. He was also on a winning team at WrestleMania last year which defeated Wade Barrett, Justin Gabriel, Heath Slater & Ezekiel Jackson. If he beats Christian, Alberto Del Rio, Mark Henry and David Otunga this year, that means he would have technically scored a win against 32 people at just three WrestleManias -- averaging out to about 10.67 opponents beaten each performance. If, as I hope he is, Drew McIntyre also makes it into Team Ace (since he has active problems with Theodore Long), then Santino winning at WrestleMania this year would bring his average up to a round 11.

Noid I don't think WWE will do 10 matches at Wrestlemania...
Rock/Cena Triple H/Undertaker (maybe with HBK added as ref or a three way) Punk/Jericho Bryan/Sheamus (probably with Miz attacking Bryan or Sheamus) Team Larry (Del Rio, Christian, Henry, and Otunga) vs Team Teddy (Orton, Santino, Ryder, and Mysterio) - Kane kills Ryder for Larry's victory Truth/Kofi vs Dolph/Swagger Beth vs Kharma or Nattie (or both) Big Show vs Cody |
The reason It hink eight would be better is so that the four main events can get their proper time, Rock/Cena, Taker/HHH, and Jericho/Punk all could/should go over 20 minutes in an ideal world. With Taker/HHH probably getting the most time other than Punk/Jericho. Punk deserves more time at Mania than anyone this year I think.
|
The Miz not getting a match at Mania would be great for his character because it sets up a feud with Sheamus if he kicks his ass after the match and then bitches about not getting booked (/dennis stamp)
|
Also Kane can stay off of Mania as far as a match goes, just continue his stuff with Ryder and cut to Cena backstage saying he doesn't have time to protect Ryder tonight. This could facilitate Ryder/Cena/Kane after Mania to carry for a few months.
|
This would've been the perfect time for the War Games match to happen.

bunch of awkward interference, Teddy eats an Ace Crusher, match ends.
|
Cmon misawa and Kenta v Steve Williams and ace was great!
|
I kind of like the idea of Teddy Long getting more involved in storylines for this year's WrestleMania. The dude has been in the business for ages, and although his gimmick is essentially a guy that is just happy to have his job, I'd like to see what sort of depth Long can bring to the table.

Raw and SmackDown get a General Manager facelift!
By: Greg Adkins February 28, 2012 Tags: WWE Raw SuperShow: February 27, 2012, SuperSmackDown: February 21, 2012, John Laurinaitis Both Raw and SmackDown are about to get extreme makeovers. In an effort to help determine which General Manager should control both shows, the WWE Board of Directors has decided to switch control of each show next week. SmackDown GM Theodore Long will take control of Monday night’s Raw while Raw GM John Laurinaitis takes the reins of next Friday’s SmackDown. The decision comes one week after Laurinaitis announced at Elimination Chamber that he will seek control over both shows, bolstered by flattering testimonials by Superstars Mark Henry, Christian and Alberto Del Rio. A perturbed Long made it clear to Laurinaitis that he’s not about to take the threat to his position lying down. Last week on SmackDown, the two got into a heated argument as they tried to overrule one another during a match between WWE Champion CM Punk vs. World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan. Last night on Raw SuperShow, the two were at it again as tensions continued to escalate. What will the GMs have in store for their respective rival as they switch roles? And how will each try to outshine the other? Tune into both Raw and SmackDown to see the lengths they’ll go to impress the Board of Directors – and get back at each other. |
