Another guy, and people might hate this, because they don't like the guy, is Mojo Rawley. Working with Cesaro might help him get better in the ring, and being with Mojo might mean that Cesaro gets pushed. In that mode, Cesaro and Elias could also be beneficial to both. I'm pretty sure Jinder Mahal is a lost cause in terms of getting better, but they're obviously going to keep him around, so there's that. Curt Hawkins popped into my head because it would be a "funny" team where Cesaro does all the work and wins all their matches for them. Ha-ha, right?
Cesaro and Samoa Joe as a team of destroyers would be ideal, but it seems kind of limiting for Joe, sadly. |
Those are all fine suggestions, but what if Cesaro just worked solo again?
As I said, I'd be cool with it. Don't see the WWE as having the patience for him though. That being said, he seems more "embedded" in their culture than he has ever been before.
Cesaro's contract was set to expire at the end of 2016, he was pretty vocally upset with how he was being used, and his work with Sheamus intrigued him enough to get him to re-up.
I think keeping him in a team is the way to go, as much as I love him as a solo guy. |
He's one guy I'd love to see in New Japan, should they ever do a talent exchange for some reason. Just a few tours there to be the wrestling machine. Would help refresh the fans' perspective on him a bit.
Cesaro gets a brief NJPW run, Kitamura does his excursion in WWE. You know Vince would get a raging boner the second he saw him.
With the caveat that Vince can't beat him.
Minoru Suzuki for feuds with John Cena and Johnny Gargano, thanks.
Suzuki-gun as a heel faction running wild in NXT is a wet dream of mine. Even if it was just a version like Suzuki, Smith, Archer, ZSJ, Michinoku and Kanemaru. Suzuki as NXT Champion, Smith & Archer as Tag Champs, Kanemaru as Cruiserweight Champ and ZSJ as UK Champ. Michinoku is there because "Hey! It's Taka Michinoku!" NXT Championship goes from Almas to Black at WrestleMania, to Suzuki, to Gargano.

WWE is so dumb sometimes. |
Maybe in kayfabe she feels shes not quite ready and wants to train more to make the transition, but she wanted the womens division know shes coming for them at mania?
As for your second question, the answer is "because wrestling". How did Triple H not know sting was coming despite having a new entrance theme and titantron prepared. If Vince is the boss, why doesn't he just not book austin and let his contract run out, if he hates him so much. Just wrestling things. |
I hate that lack of logic. You can get away with it when it's hot (Austin vs. McMahon started off logical until Russo got more power), but it's something that sucks the wind out when you're watching as a fan and it doesn't make sense.
Random question: After Jinder Mahal, is there really anyone who would shock you by winning the WWE Title?

Not saying the segment was perfect. Rhonda's stiff as a board pointing was awkward to say the least, but she'll get coaching on that kind of stuff. |

You would have a much tougher time making me get behind say, Curtis Axel. What demographic would he appeal to as champion. |
For the record, I think Jinder would have been great as an old territories champion, which is why I didnt completely scoff at him and gave him a chance, but as wwe champion in the current era, he never completely won me over.
Screw demographics, Curtis Axel for Universal Champion.
Jinder is, in my opinion, way too awful to ever be believable as a champion in any era. He just doesn't know how to make his shit look good, and he's been doing this for like 15 years now. It makes sense from a marketing perspective if you don't mind telling a market that you think they are stupid or don't have taste. An absolutely awful decision, and you could tell it was awful before they did it -- because no one has ever cared about Jinder Mahal.
At least two people care about Curtis Axel. And he's better in the ring. There have been moments in his career where he has not been a complete jobber too. Axel wins the IC title from Miz, defends it against Bray Wyatt and other people they are done with, then Axelmania runs wild at the Royal Rumble in Phoenix. Like a firebird, Axel's career has resurrected and risen to new heights. Brock is his friend and would drop the belt to him. Heyman would sell him. He could be IC Champion for over a year, theoretically, by this point. I'd take it over Jinder, that's all I'm saying. Axel would be more over with India. |
And drop the name Curtis Axel. Have him decide he is ready to embrace his family name. Joe Hennig as IC Champion, 2019 Royal Rumble Winner and Universal Champion. Yeah, that's the meal ticket.
Axel has forced charisma and it comes off really awkward.
Enjoyed him in Rybaxel though. |

I'm honestly shocked he's lasted this long

Yeah those Indians will be chanting SKOL SKOL SKOL all night. You lost me on the name change though.

Did some research into Axel's developmental career. Harmless trivia, really. But it reminded me that Brett DiBiase was in the business for a while. He retired because of knee problems and then became a referee before being released and then doing more wrestling and disappearing. Mike DiBiase was also a wrestler, but retired in 2008 and got into a shoot-out with police in 2014. Ted DiBiase, Jr. got further, but also left the business before long. Weird how those kids turned out.
Always found Ted, Jr. boring. But they had big plans for him. Put in The Marine and always seemed to be pushing him to some degree.
I have never understood the hype for axel. He comes off generic in every aspect to me, and the only time he was over was when he dressed up like the biggest star in the history of thd business. Which isn't really getting over as much as it is riding the coat tails of someone elses legacy.
I don't know if there's ever really been any hype for him. I think he's always just been regarded as a solid, if unspectacular hand.
He's shown flashes of greatness here and there like his run in NXT and teaming up with Ryback but WWE never bothered to put any real effort in him. Had a high profile IC title match one time against Triple H that didn't help him at all because of all the focus during and after the match was on Triple H.
Supposedly Axel's biggest benefit is him being really great as a trainer and WWE's top choice to workout with part-timers. Not sure if he works with Lesnar but he helped Goldberg and either The Rock or Batista for their returns. Might have also been Taker's WWE trainer in recent years. |
After the Miztourage run, he'll likely transition to the Performance Center.
Axel definitely helped out Brock.
