Tough Enough was always an awful concept. Sorry to go all Cornette on y'all, but it exposes the business. Also, when you get a rookie and give them a contest win, it's still going to be a few years before you see a return on that investment. Tough Enough should have been a tournament featuring OVW guys or a show more like The Ultimate Fighter, where Al Snow and Tazz choose teams, then those guys eliminate each other until one has a contract and a European Title shot or something. Whatever.

Savio 01-15-2018 06:32 PM

Oh Sara Lee who also won that season was released in 2016.

Lock Jaw 01-15-2018 06:37 PM

Emma :'( :'( :'(

#BROKEN Hasney 01-15-2018 06:38 PM

I liked the first Tough Enough, but they should have given Maven more time developing. Dude had charisma and was a great athlete, but he was wrestling, what, 2 months after winning so they could cash in?

Mr. Nerfect 01-15-2018 07:00 PM

I marked out for the Taker elimination as much as the next kid, but it didn't amount to anything until about 2005, when he turned heel, was surprisingly refreshing, but that's just because he was shit instead of shitty white meat.

Mr. Nerfect 01-15-2018 07:01 PM

Jason Jordan is apparently hurt now. They're not sure how serious it is, but he had to miss some Raw house shows.

Mr. Nerfect 01-15-2018 07:02 PM

Other places are exploding with "Vince needs to stop getting these guys to work so much," whereas I think it is probably closer to "these guys need to learn how to work more wisely."

Danny Electric 01-15-2018 07:04 PM

Anyone know why the Royal Rumble and Wrestlemania in '96 aren't on the Network.

Or just don't work with Seth. Even when it's not his fault, he's just cursed to be around.

They are both on the Network. Just pulled them in up on my phone.

Emperor Smeat 01-15-2018 07:15 PM

Tough Enough as an idea was pretty good but like a lot of things, WWE handled its execution poorly. They treated it similar to the Divas Search where they just signed a bunch of people per season making the contest part a bit moot and never bothered to really develop the winners into future stars.

Them refusing to learn from their mistakes was a big reason why USA Network got pissed off with the revival.

I just used the search and typed on Royal Rumble 1996 and Wrestle Mania 12 1996. They're both there though.

#1-norm-fan 01-15-2018 07:30 PM

I just went the long way and did WWE PPVs in 1996 and I'm seeing them both.

Danny Electric 01-15-2018 07:43 PM

Must of been a fault.
Very much enjoyed Royal Rumble 95, the time where it seemed like every new wrestler also had a job. Be it a Binman, Clown , Baseball player etc

Mr. Nerfect 01-15-2018 07:48 PM

JR and King confirmed to be calling Raw 25. I hope JR doesn't give a fuck and just drills logic holes through everything.

Lock Jaw 01-15-2018 07:57 PM

Can't wait to hear JR yell "STONE COLD! STONE COLD! STONE COLD!"

lol I remember that. Same show that featured Tony Atlas making potato salad in his shitty apartment.

Holy shit, this story from Cornette's Drive-Thru is fucking amazing:

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/igvR2CgHZYU" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Savio 01-15-2018 10:44 PM

With Santino winning Miss WrestleMania and Ellworth winning the first Money in the bank I hope Titus wins the Womens Royal Rumble.

It almost could have worked with both people ducking. If he had any awareness, upon missing the clothesline, he should have had the momentum cause him to fall out of the ring. His partner checks on him, and the babyface could roll him up for a three count.

Mr. Nerfect 01-15-2018 11:11 PM

The problem is that they clearly didn't have awareness.

Holy shit, I knew I'd seen these for a few years now but I didn't realize this guys' series goes back a fucking decade. Time flies.

I'm listening to the Wrestlenomics podcast right now. It's long, but I'm finding the discussion very interesting. My key take away is that digital expansion is not going as well for the WWE as much as they seem to be focusing on it. Their biggest revenue increases are in television rights (which is widely reported), but also from WWE Shop. It's possibly because the WWE have opened up a whole new bunch of international channels, partnerships, etc.

I've never listened to the podcast but I follow the guy who hosts it on Twitter and he always seems to have great info/insight like this. If Mixed Match Challenge is a hit it could increase Facebook potentially offering the E a deal for RAW/SD rights as well.

Sixx 01-16-2018 11:04 AM

Is Jason Jordan black? I can't tell.

Danny Electric 01-16-2018 11:32 AM

Just done a bit of research and he's mixed race , his dad is black and his mom is white.

Sixx 01-16-2018 11:33 AM

Hm, well, that's what I thought, although he seems pretty pale for a mixed race even.

Danny Electric 01-16-2018 11:36 AM

It all depends on genetics I guess, for example I am mixed race english white / Iranian and I I have friends who are as well and are considerably lighter skinned than me. One of my sons is a quarter Iranian, rest English and he's darker skinned than me.

It will all come out that his dad is the Junkyard Dog.

And his mom was Sensational Sherri

That would be a massive shock moment.

I think that in about 10 years time the should give a wrestler the backstory that he was the hand that Mae Young gave birth too. Shame it's a bit too early for Jordon cos Marc Henry would be his dad.

Tonya Harding 01-16-2018 12:14 PM

Kurt Angle is my American hero!

Sixx 01-16-2018 12:49 PM

Damn, I didn't know Lashley did good in MMA. Watched some highlights and he even powerbombed a dude, which was awesome.

Tonya Harding 01-16-2018 01:11 PM

Lashley should try boxing.

Sure does.

His yearly "Future Endeavors" videos are just one of the things I look forward to every new year.

When I went to SmackDown in Glasgow in November 2016, I invited my best friend to come with me and when he saw Jason Jordan, he thought he was a really tanned white guy.

I had to tell him that it wasn't a tan and that Jason Jordan was black.
