Yeah the window's only for the lower league clubs, the one that's used in the top leagues is being enforced on us next season.

Doink 03-25-2005 01:34 AM

carlo gash sorry nash has joined preston north end on a 3 & 1/2 year contract, last news from boro was he was out with a groin tear, mind you he was crap, hes the only keeper i know who can throw a ball further than he can kick it.

its now time we get some serious copotition in for schwartzer as he has gone too long unclanged. he apparently had a stipulation in last contract that said if he's fit he plays! apparently this was reason its taken so long for him to sign a new one as steve gibson refused to put that in his new contract (go on gibbo you the fuckin man)

mark crossley deserved better from us as he was quality but was shit on once schwartzer was fit. so are there any good keepers out there who could challenge him? i like the look of paddy kenny at shef utd.

have you guys heardof any stipuations in contracts that your team members have? i heard shearer has it in his contract that he has to be the highest earner at newcastle so it they sign someone on higher wages, his auto increases!

Do you know of anymore daft things that go in contracts?

Cactus Sid 03-25-2005 05:35 AM

I know Sunderland put a "No Going To The Moon" clause in players contracts

toxic rooster 03-25-2005 08:01 AM

Schwarzer worries me. Come November, we're relying on him to get us to the World Cup :nono:

Well, there'll be 10 other Australians on the field helping him out, BUT YOU GET THE PICTURE

Stan Collymore had that same stip when he was at Villa.

Same here, but not just him the defence in general. At the moment Neil at right back, Moore in the centre and Lazaridis at left back pleases me, however we need someone else to fill in the other centre-back position. Not only that, if any of these three gets injured we have limited back up so that fucking worries me.

This said, I'm liking our starting line-up for the friendly tonight against Iraq:

Mark Schwarzer
Lucas Neill, Tony Popovic, Craig Moore (c), Stan Lazaridis
Marco Bresciano, Josip Skoko, Tim Cahill
Scott Chipperfield, Brett Emerton, John Aloisi

I'm glad Farina is sticking to the 4-3-3 formation so our lads can get used to it and see how well they're used to it when we play in the Confederations Cup. In a way it's good that Viduka and Kewell are injured (Kewell's playing shithouse anyway) so it gives lads like Chipperfield and Aloisi (who is underrated in my opinion) a chance to press for starting selection come the big games. When Kewell and Viduka are fit and firing (hopefully come November) our squad, complimented by the 4-3-3, should look like this:

Schwarzer
Neil, Popovic, Moore, Lazaridis
Cahill, Bresciano, Kewell
Emerton, Viduka, Aloisi

Only problem I have with the lineup for tonight is Bresciano on the right, he does his best work in the centre or on the left but the left SHOULD be Kewell's spot (though Farina the dumb cunt will put him up front).

Btw we're actually playing a proper game in Australia, with a proper squad, and not in London. :|

Dazz 03-25-2005 08:12 PM

Duncan Ferguson had the same clause, which gave Everton problems when trying to give Rooney a higher contract.

Ahahaha the wog cat wears Kappa

Also, what's you got against Popovic?

yianni 03-26-2005 01:12 AM

:D

Nothing against the big fella except he's not playing football consistently.

id get use to playing without Viduka, romour has it he will be retiring at the end of season due to arthritus of the hip. Apparently we are trying to get him fit enough to make two more apperances so that we can claim compensation!

Speaking of injuries, can anyone explain why robben at chelsea can break his foot after boatang breaks his toe and yet is back playing before him. :?:

Danny Electric 03-26-2005 07:02 AM

Better medical staff at Chelsea.

toxic rooster 03-26-2005 07:03 AM

Dunno, maybe it's due to severity or some crap, or because no 2 injuries are the same?

I don't think he strictly broke it, I think he re-injured his original break from pre-season.

Dazz 03-26-2005 07:58 AM

Nah apparently it was broken, thats why our old physio left, because Mourinho wanted him rushed back. We have now got this olympic guy who is the man at repairing injuries quickly do he helped sort him out, and AC Milan have some foot speacialist there or something, and as an act of good sportsmanship their guy also treated Robben. The two of those guys combined is why he is back quicker then expected.

Doink 03-26-2005 08:02 AM

i think its more to do with compitment to the cause and that boro have the worst medical staff in the world. i dont think we have had 1 player injure himself during a game, all our injuries come in training. Who trains us ths SAS?

i feel sorry for malcolm christie, he had to tell the medical staff something stil didnt feel right, they said he was fine, then bang he breaks it again. fucked up medical team if you ask me!

do you have any players you think are hiding behind injuries ?

Dazz 03-26-2005 08:04 AM

Gallas is permanently injured, the guy is a joke, no doubt he will get injured Vs Southampton next week.

Gudjohnsen apparently has an actual permanent injury but I forget exactly what it is.

Mourinho likes to take players returns very slowly if he can, Carvalho took 2 months to return from a broken toe, but we had ample replacement and didn't let a league goal in in his abscence so we didn't need to rush him.

Rob Ban Fan 03-26-2005 08:27 AM

Vincent Pericard was out injured with a thigh strain for a year, came back and played for the reserves and did his cruciate knee ligament after about 15 minutes.

Hayden Foxe has been out with a broken foot for over a year.

Toddy injured his cruciate ligament in training the day before the season began, Redknapp rushed him back and he did it again.

Toddy's injury is fair enough, thats just unlucky but how the fuck can you be out for a year with a thigh strain or a broken foot that doesnt seem to get any better :|

Wengerland 03-26-2005 09:00 AM

Lee Morris, been here for 14 months now and in that time he's made 1 start and 3 sub apperances i think. He was said to be close to a return this week but nope, his cruciates have gone again.

Nathan Blake has been out for a few months now, he's shit when he plays mind you. Jordan Stewart dislocated his shoulder for the 3rd time in our last game too. I wish Canero was injured, not out of malice or anything, but then Levein would have a valid reason not to pick him, as he looked good last year but now he's playing in the reserves and local cup competitions with the youth team.

Wengerland 03-26-2005 09:01 AM

Oh yeah, and would Tiatto be in the Australia first team? Also is Kisnorbo anywhere near it? :(

Mr. Monday Morning 03-26-2005 09:58 AM

lol less than a minute played and Beckham's already wandered into the middle of the pitch once.

Fucking idiot.

Mr. Monday Morning 03-26-2005 10:03 AM

jesus christ WHO THE FUCK THOUGHT MOTSON AND LE SAUX MAKE A GOOD COMMENTARY TEAM

Danny Electric 03-26-2005 10:28 AM

Some good saves from the goalie.

Danny Electric 03-26-2005 10:28 AM

Tiatto is a squad player, he's played in the recent friendly in London against Norway. Kisnorbo I don't believe will feature very much in this campaign but will be blooded for the next campaign for WC 2010. On a side note as Kisnorbo's recovering from an injury, he'll be in Melbourne next week and is special guest at his old club South Melbourne's game on the Sunday.

yianni 03-26-2005 11:09 AM

Btw it was a shithouse performance tonight but Australia came from 0-1 down (fucking defence caught out trying to play the offside) to win 2-1 against Iraq, with Bresciano scoring from a free kick then Ahmad Elrich coming off the bench and slotting the ball into the bottom corner. Like I was saying earlier, defence is FUCKING WORRYING, Schwarzer made some fucking stupid errors again and is really fucking worrying me. If we play anything like that against the South Americans in South America...forget it we're going to cop 5 or 6 :nono:

On a side note, Greece are on away to Georgia in an hour and a half. Fucken better win or I'm going to crack the fucking shits cos I'm staying up for it (kick off is 3:30am Melbourne time).

On another side note, fucking hell I'm watching England's game at the moment, I go to take a slash and come back and it's gone from 1-0 to 3-0 :|

yianni 03-26-2005 11:26 AM

Sodding hell 4-0 now and Lampard just hit the post. England's running riot and should be about 10-0 up

Mr. Monday Morning 03-26-2005 11:26 AM

4-0

Should be 5, Lampard cracked it against the bar from 10 yards :'(

yianni 03-26-2005 11:33 AM

Beat you to it :p

yianni 03-26-2005 11:34 AM

Owen hits it over the bar again...shoulda been 5-0 then

England is just crusing...:|

toxic rooster 03-26-2005 11:34 AM

Norn Iron were going well until they conceded FOUR GOALS

yianni 03-26-2005 11:50 AM

Full-time 4-0 to England

45 minutes til Georgia-Greece...come on Hellas score a fucking goaaaaaaaaaaal

Dazz 03-26-2005 12:19 PM

Played Chelsea.

Wengerland 03-26-2005 12:23 PM

Top performance, Joe Cole was great, though i can't fault anyone really.

Wales lost 2-0 at home to Austria, heading out.

Danny Electric 03-26-2005 12:24 PM

Well done Joey Cole.

Dazz 03-26-2005 12:28 PM

Joey Cole was outstanding.

Don't mention the under 21's, not after Carson fucked up.

England were good and Cole was amazing, half watched it at the pub while putting all my money in the machines :|

On the whole injury thing, it does seem that the big clubs can get players back quicker. While they aren't back yet, Xabi and Cisse are both back in training. Alonso broke his ankle in January, and he could be back by the Juve game, so 3 months aint bad. Cisse had a double compound fracture and he's back training 5 months later, so I guess that the bigger clubs have better medical staff and better links with medical people around the world.

Also...good luck to the Irish, I reckon this'll be a cracking game.

yianni 03-26-2005 12:53 PM

FUCKING HELL GEORGIA 1 GREECE 0
