Shout outs to Irish promotion OTT who are about to sell out their 3rd 2,000 seater show in 8 months. Not bad for what was considered to be a dead market before they started up.

@Fignuts

Of course not, but there's going to be certain things, especially pertaining to dialogue, that are geared with kids in mind. Kane's over the top, super villain dialogue is one of them.

I mean, how many of us were mesemerized by Undertaker's dark cryptic promos as kids, despite how cheesy they were looking back?

Fignuts 12-06-2017 06:46 AM

I guess I just don't think the line was so bad or out of character that it needed to be called out.

Fignuts 12-06-2017 06:52 AM

But, I honestly don't see a lot of things that catch shade as worth complaining about, so whatever.

Do you.

Just my opinion man. I enjoy their work on 205 Live

Evil Vito 12-06-2017 08:34 AM

Yeah, I'm easily enjoying wrestling more than I have in the past decade. Not bad considering that only 2-3 years ago I was so fed up that I was starting to think I finally just "grew out of it" like my parents always told me I would.

Then I watched New Japan and Lucha Underground and I was back in full force.

Ol Dirty Dastard 12-06-2017 08:35 AM

I dont think kids would be scared of kanes current incarnation. However... I was shit scared of him when he debuted

Ol Dirty Dastard 12-06-2017 08:36 AM

Wrestling is still amazing. Just not a lot of current WWE is. Which is fine. You have tons of options to choose from including older stuff

Ol Dirty Dastard 12-06-2017 08:36 AM

That said.... Kane is awful and I will stand by that lmfao

#BROKEN Hasney 12-06-2017 08:55 AM

Like, current Kane or just Kane ever?

Ol Dirty Dastard 12-06-2017 09:31 AM

Current Kane

Ol Dirty Dastard 12-06-2017 09:32 AM

Kane in the 90s was great. Honestly, minus being good in the ring during the early 2000s... The character ran its course somewhere in 1999

#BROKEN Hasney 12-06-2017 09:46 AM

Yeah, they had a chance to fix it when he unmasked, but ruined it straight away by making his first feud Shane when he needed to recover from the awful HHH feud.

Still had it's moments though. The Lita wedding and Matt feud was a lot of fun.

Evil Vito 12-06-2017 09:54 AM

I liked Kane longer than most, but I think I was ready for him to retire around the time they shipped him to ECW. Oddly enough, that's also when heavy rumors started up about Kane getting one last run before retirement, and that was nearly a decade ago.

In hindsight I'm glad he didn't retire then because I fucking adored the Team Hell No stuff. But he could've hung it up after that and I'd have been happy as a clam.

Corporate Kane made for an interesting character and comedic foil, but I felt sad watching him go out and wrestle.

Ol Dirty Dastard 12-06-2017 09:57 AM

Oh yeah forgot about hell no. But that followed a decade of blunders.

Jordan 12-06-2017 10:29 AM

MAYBE if they ran Chicago and got Punk for the main.

slik 12-06-2017 12:15 PM

Corporate Kane and DBry/Kane were the last time I enjoyed Kane tbh. I don't dislike the guy or anything - I'm ok if his current feud with Braun is his 'send-off'...tho Kane also is a big enough name his send-off should be on a big show...I guess RAW 25 could be a big show.

Cool King 12-06-2017 04:10 PM

I liked Kane from the beginning to before Corporate Kane.

I felt Corporate Kane was just a shit on the Kane character and also on around fifteen years of character development.

Corporate Kane wasn't as bad as it could have been but it was still bad and easily the worst Kane for me.

Personally, even though he was only like that around for ten months, my favourite Kane was 2002-2003 Kane. The only black mark on that Kane was the whole Katie Vick fiasco.

Nah, it was awful. And "geared with kids in mind" is a huge problem, because these adults can't even gear things to people in their own demographic.

That's fair enough. I'm sure they're fun in their certain ways. It's good to know that someone is a fan, haha.

Mr. Nerfect 12-06-2017 05:40 PM

On Kane:

He's actually a big part of why I got into wrestling. Not his ring work or even the character, but something about his positioning endeared itself to me and then he had that 2001 Royal Rumble appearance which I wasn't expecting. It was a nice little vindicating moment for supporting him.

They've fucked up his gimmick so many times. I mean, they basically just threw a lot of it out the window right after his initial run was done. He served his purpose, but then instead of going away he stuck around and they gave him a voice, a singlet, a new mask with a different singlet, a sexy backstory, took the mask away, turned him face and heel so many times, put the mask back on, made him a social climber and now put the mask back on him again.

I've always considered Kane a "solid" big man, but he really hasn't had that many matches that even approach good, and my subjectivity was probably clouding that. I think people were just taken in by similar things as me, or variants. There are lots of things that "work" about the Kane gimmick, and I think many of us have felt sorry for how they've "fucked him" over the years, despite him turning something that should have lasted two years into something that has stuck around for two decades.

I'm sure he's a good presence in the locker-room, and I did get a little kick out of Team Hell No, and how helped provide a platform for Daniel Bryan to get "WWE over," if you know what I mean by that? But WrestleMania XXX was a fine place to squash him and then send him out. But then he was top heel again. Then he dominated the 2015 Royal Rumble. Now he's top heel again. It's just enough.

In all honesty though, they'll never get over by just going out and wrestling, when the main eventers who have well established characters and time to connect with the audience wrestle the same style.

Cruisers in wcw got over with just their ring work, because 99% of the time, everything else on the card was dogshit.

Feel like cruisers should have been an nxt thing where the smark crowd will cheer great work regardless. Then they could move up to the main roster and see some actual progression in their career instead of being deadlocked into a sigle division that will never be anything more than a third string title.

Destor 12-07-2017 12:26 AM

Hate that camera cut half was through. Keeps you from really taking it in

Emperor Smeat 12-07-2017 12:52 AM

Yeah, the shot itself would have been pretty great with just 1 cut instead of two. The last cut wasn't even needed since it ate into the move's impact and like everything in WWE, was micromanaged more than needed.

Jordan 12-07-2017 01:00 AM

That move is fucking stupid.

Jordan 12-07-2017 01:04 AM

Imagine Cactus Jack wrestling in little tights.

Now wait, stop imagining that, just look at Kassious Ohno.

Yeah, I honestly believe that half the time I think the actual matches are so much better outside the WWE, a lot of it is down to the camerawork.

#BROKEN Hasney 12-07-2017 06:44 AM

Congratulations are in order!

Sasha vs Alexa Bliss happening r/n in Abu Dhabi, the first women ever allowed to wrestle for WWE there...but due to women showing skin being illegal they must be covered from neck to toe.
