Yeah Savage is crying but to be fair, Toshack's answer for not picking him was kinda lame. Savage would walk into the Wales team on his worse day.

Wengerland 03-16-2005 03:27 PM

Plus he's said he'll be happy to play for them when Toshack leaves, he could have retired like the others when Toshack first got the job, but he decided to give it a go. Missed the friendly through injury and now he's left out of a squad that just has 6 midfielders and even then you've got Williams and Koumas, who aren't regular starters for their clubs.

Toshack quit his first spell as boss after 1 game, and managing your country should be one of the greatest honours in football, so i can see where Savage and the others who've quit are coming from.

When did he say that? If it was before all this then he's being a petulant little shit because of a personal problem with Toshack. If he said it after...well, he's being a petulant little shit because of a personal problem with Toshack, *and* it shows how serious he is about retiring.

Mr. Monday Morning 03-16-2005 05:00 PM

Anyway, can't believe I wasted 90 minutes of my life on Liverpool - Blackburn. Atrocious. Totally forgot that Newcastle were playing, wish I'd remembered cause they creamed Olympiakos 4-0, so fair play to them.

Wengerland 03-16-2005 05:21 PM

He said it after 'retiring', but he doesn't want to play for Toshack and Toshack won't pick him anyway, considering Toshack said he'd give those who were originally against his appointment a clean slate he's being as petulant as Sav.

David Weir has come out of international retirement, if Shearer would have they'd have mass celebrations, but if Savage does then it'll be because he was too petulant, sure. You'd be hard pressed to find someone who agrees with the idea that the midfielders Wales have are better than Savage and they'll be a worse team without him.

No quote but I think he did say that.

Regardless of his personality, do you honestly think he is not good enough to walk into the 24? Toshack clearly is holding a grudge instead of being a real man and living up to his word.

That's the story with it.

Olympiakos :'(

Shearer

Mr. Monday Morning 03-17-2005 11:50 AM

With or without Robbie Savage Wales are not going to qualify for the World Cup. The rest of the qualifiers are in effect friendlies, so what's wrong with Toshack assessing what other options he has. Besides which I doubt Savage would make it to Euro 2008 anyway.

Savage can dish it out but can't take it, basically.

For the aussies - Tim Cahill has won Oceania Player of the Year.

Also, found this rather hilarious:

Diouf in new spitting allegations

El-Hadji Diouf has been accused of spitting at a beggar and a Big Issue vendor after leaving a London nightclub.

The incident is alleged to have taken place in the early hours of Wednesday morning when the controversy-free striker left Chinawhite in Soho, according to the Daily Mirror.

After reportedly 'shouting obscenities at the paparazzi outside the club,' the loveable Senegal international then reportedly spat at a beggar and a Big Issue seller.

The Mirror quotes an onlooker stating: "He was really, really abusive and swearing at everyone in sight.

"Then he turned round and spat in the direction of a tramp who was outside the club. I couldn't tell if he hit anyone but it was still really disgusting."

As a rather bizarre conclusion to the night, Diouf then had to hail a taxi as his car had been towed away.

Fabien Barthez 03-17-2005 01:11 PM

I think Diouf has a saliva problem.

Rob 03-17-2005 02:04 PM

I think he is a filthy arab.

Doink 03-17-2005 04:47 PM

what a bastard, dont think we deserved to lose that leg at least! we had our chances but didnt take them, o well bring on the bigger more important competition,

you know the intertoto cup ;)

Doink 03-17-2005 05:00 PM

o and diouf is a disgrace, when he was at our ground he spat at a 10 year old kid then sprayed water at him from a water bottle, ok not the biggest crime the second thing but not proffesional behaviour.

h'e must have a physcological problem that only kicks in once he gets on a pitch, its like one of my mates, he doesnt swear at all but get him on a pitch and he gets football terets its funny as hell!

and i dont see what savage's problem is, toshack says he wants to look at some other options so savage retires, just goes to show he thinks he is a bigger player than what he really is.

has he even played 2 games in a row since january?? last i saw of him he was sat in the crowd watching blackburn (poss cup tied) but im sure they said he was injured aswell so why shouldnt he be dropped for wales??

i also dont agree with sven saying andy johnson might not be in his next squad which is stupid, give the guy a chance what have they got to lose. he's the only forward playing on a regular basis anyway as owen is on the bench most of time for real, defoe (who is quality btw) is on and off the bench all the time at spurs & rooney IMO isnt a out and out striker, i see him as more of a play maker.

Mike the Metal Ed 03-17-2005 05:17 PM

West Ham v Leicester tomorrow night, always a difficult match for me, I've got two Hammers in my family and now one in my class at college, plus we've only won 1 in our last 15 visits to Upton Park, as much as I like to stay faithful, we've got no chance.

Doink 03-17-2005 05:26 PM

but connolly returning to his former club, he's bound to put one away so you must be in with a shout!

He's a gun.

We'll need him firing now since Kewell's become a useless cunt lately. Then again the cunt never rocks up to play for us so it's not as if we're missing him.

The problem is it won't make a bit of difference because meteors hitting the Earth happens more often than Connolly hitting the back of the net.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE SEMI FINAL DRAW

CHELSEA/BAYERN MUNICH VS JUVENTUS

AC MILAN/INTER MILAN VS LYON/PSV

Cactus Sid 03-18-2005 06:22 AM

Mr. Monday Morning 03-18-2005 06:25 AM

Chin up. Rest of Europe will be willing you on to avoid another Milan/Juve final

Wengerland 03-18-2005 06:27 AM

Milan derby

Chelsea, Lyon, i'd like Inter but i think AC, and Juventus to go through to the semi's for me. Sorry Sid and Danny Electric but Juve have got too much for you :$

Chelsea/Milan final would be great, then again it could be Juve against Milan, which was poor 2 years ago

toxic rooster 03-18-2005 06:30 AM

C'mon Bayern :'(

Cactus Sid 03-18-2005 06:33 AM

Actually, I'll try and be optimistic.

At home, in Europe, we can be awesome. If we can get a lead and not concede....you never know.

I think he will, he looked great after his goal on Tuesday, and i reckon we've got a decent chance, West Ham fans will get on the teams back if they struggle and the pressure is really mounting on Pardew as it is.

Weird thing is the only time we've beat them was under one of our worst managers, Peter Taylor, and i was in Spain at the time. I remember asking 2 Portsmouth fans who myself and my dad met at a bar if they knew the score and they said we'd lost 4-2

Got the paper the following morning to find that super Darren Eadie had got the only goal. I suppose the moral of the story is not to trust people you find in a bar at 2am, who have clearly been drinking for hours :(

Wengerland 03-18-2005 06:36 AM

has the UEFA Cup draw been made yet?

Dazz 03-18-2005 06:41 AM

I'll take that. Means another 180 minutes of us chanting "Are you watching Ars-en-al"

Inter are one of the only teams with a real chance of knocking out Milan I think.

COME ON CHELSEA

Wengerland 03-18-2005 06:45 AM

Milan are the only team to have beaten Inter this season, but in that game Inter battered them but couldn't score so you never know, it was just a shot re-directed by Kaka which lost it for them.

Both sides are similiar in attacking options, but defensively Milan are much better.

Yeah I have a similar story to that, 2 years back Arsenal had a goalless draw with Ajax which I missed on TV that morning, was gutted all day because someone on the train said Ajax had won 2-0.

Felt slightly better when I found out we'd drawn, but that train guy is still a cunt.

Just seen it starts at 12, hopefully Newcastle avoid Villareal. CSKA Moscow shouldn't be under-estimated either.

Danny Electric 03-18-2005 07:22 AM

Newcastle got Lisbon.

Danny Electric 03-18-2005 07:23 AM

Well, I would have liked to have got PSV or mainly anyone else but oh well we are the underdogs and you know what, I fucking love that.
I just wish the first leg was at their place.

Dazz 03-18-2005 09:29 AM

Guess who is going to Munich from 11-13th April, if he can get a ticket.

The Mask 03-18-2005 10:14 AM

One time, we went to a sports pub in Spain, to watch the League Cup scoreflashes, as Leicester were away at Grimsby, defending our Coca Cola Cup, we lost 3-0.

When we got back to the hotel, there were two Grimsby fans sitting at the hotel bar.
