El Vaquero de Infierno 11-07-2018 03:50 PM

Steam have Civilizations V on sale, so I got the whole Civ V bundle for less than a tenner; downloading at the mo, and will play it this weekend. It has been a while since I played Civ IV; don't want to splash out on Civ VI.

SlickyTrickyDamon 11-07-2018 11:47 PM

Gwent sucks. Makes a great game into fucking Magic The Gathering. Failing those card missions was very rewarding.

Ultra Mantis 11-08-2018 07:58 PM

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck, Carnal Sins sidequest is so good.

SPOILER: show
Priscilla did not deserve that. Fucking vampires. :'(

Totally Geralt's fault for making her write that play too.

Destor 11-10-2018 05:02 AM

Playing AC:OD

Way more loading than AC:OR

El Vaquero de Infierno 11-18-2018 06:59 PM

Blasted Civ V; you lose most of the day to it.

Also more leveling from what I hear. Lot more grindy.

omenfarmer 11-20-2018 08:32 PM

Not me personally. I just could never get into it. FF7 starts with you hopping off a train to fight. FF9 starts with a kidnapping plot. FF8 starts ... in school before the plot. Every time I try, I just end up playing the card game awhile and turning it off.

If Triple Triad were in FF9 instead of Tetra Master and they relaxed the random battle frequency a tad, it would be the perfect RPG.

Fignuts 11-21-2018 07:31 AM

There is a lot I like about ff8, but yeah, it's definitely jarring going from action packed prologue levels in the previous games to wandering around a school.

Also, most of the playable cast didn't really do much for me.

Persona seems to manage it well

On that note I'm currently playing Persona 4

Destor 11-21-2018 06:07 PM

P4 is so damn good

Splaya 11-22-2018 02:09 PM

Final fantasy 8 was weird for me. I’ve beaten 7 five times from start to finish 9 four times from start to finish. I’ve only beaten 8 twice. It’s nothing the game has done it’s just it drags at times.

Sepholio 11-22-2018 02:16 PM

9 is the one out of those that I always struggled with. I love 7 and 8 both.

Ultra Mantis 11-24-2018 08:21 AM

FF9 is my favourite of the PS1 mainline trilogy, Tetra Master really sucks compared to Triple Triad though.

Sepholio 11-24-2018 03:30 PM

Yeah they should just update Triple Triad for all their games tbh. Best mini game they ever created by a wide-margin.

It's like Gwent in The Witcher. I can play that all day.

Destor 11-26-2018 02:15 PM

Dont make me choose between Gwent and Triple Triad :(

DAMN iNATOR 11-28-2018 09:50 PM

There are a couple of major free PS+ games for November (Yakuza Kiwami and BulletStorm: Full Clip Edition for those not in the know) but I decided to download the 2 other, possibly more overlooked free games for this month, Burly Men At Sea and Roundabout.

A.J.K 11-29-2018 10:03 PM

Popped Final Fantasy 1 in the ps2 just yesterday.

Destor 11-29-2018 11:18 PM

Still say ff1 holds up well

Simple Fan 11-30-2018 12:29 AM

I've updated to the X Box 360 and have been playing NCAA Football 14. Not a fan of gaming these days and not being able to play the game as soon as I pop it in the console.

Ultra Mantis 11-30-2018 10:46 AM

Finished the main story and all base game sidequests / contracts for Witcher 3.

SPOILER: show
Was kind of underwhelmed by the end game, which is a real shame because all the way up to the finale was solid stuff. Going to assume it was revealed in a prior game that the Wild Hunt are just some shitty elves in big armour because they just dropped that in there out of nowhere after calling them wraiths for the first half of the game.

The other thing that bothered me about the finale was the end of the war questline, specifically Dijkstra suddenly abandoning all of his smart guy puppet master routine and trying to kill a witcher and two veteran soldiers head on with the help of four shitty guards (and one good leg). Had no hesitation opposing him but he double crossed a double cross and THAT was his gambit. What?

My ending:
I was a great Dad so Ciri survived the white frost, told Emyrh that Ciri never talked about him because I figured that would hurt him the most, fuck that guy. Then gave her a fancy silver sword and she became a Witcher. I think this is the "good" ending, seemed very fitting to me.

Nilfgaard won the war, but Temeria was kind of free(?) and I guess Temeria is where all Geralt's buds are from so, good? At least Radovid got fucked up.

Baron survived and went to find a way to cure his wife. As a result Crow's Perch is now rape and pillage central, so I guess he was actually good for the place. That character is so many shades of grey it's brilliant.

Chose Yen over Triss, never really needed to give that one much thought. Seemed obvious from start to finish.

Cerys rules Skellige, another obvious choice to me. She was the best.

Disappoined Geralt had his banging limited, should have banged at least 6 more named characters. Let Geralt Bang.

No update on Priscilla, Dandelion doesn't even mention her now. How could you, Witcher 3?

Going to "plough" through the DLC now, great game.

Lambert, Lambert, what a prick.

Destor 11-30-2018 11:18 PM

DLC might be better than the main game...def debatable

Destor 11-30-2018 11:19 PM

Cosmic Star Heroine

Turn based action. Chrono Art style. Characters are funny. Good music.

Good buy.

A.J.K 12-02-2018 04:15 PM

Chrono Trigger

I killed the chick Lambert was gonna bang in the end. So, fuck him. He's a prick.

Ultra Mantis 12-02-2018 06:36 PM

SPOILER: show

Yeah that pairing was unexpected, I had previously thought Lambert was gay due to his personal quest. Oh well, she was the worst sorceress Geralt banged anyway, actually since Geralt already banged, Lambert is hopefully mad about it.

At least Gwent can be played in a standalone game. I would buy the hell out of a Triple Triad game from the XBL Store. Or on my phone. Or on my work computer...

Destor 12-02-2018 11:48 PM

Theres a fan made rom you can download...somewhere.

RP 12-04-2018 01:56 PM

I dont know where to put this questions so i'll do it here.

I recently had to buy a replacement AV cable and AC Power adapter . I paid 8.99 on ebay. I havent tried it out yet, but the power adapter is 9V and I thought the original SNES power supply was 10v.

I have the very first model of SNES. Is 9V plenty enough or can this fuck my old system?

Fignuts 12-04-2018 04:10 PM

There is a good chance you could fuck it regardless of voltage. Go online and get yourself an original snes power adapter. They're not expensive or hard to find.

I went online and purchased the best available. The power adapter came from Retro-Bit.

RP 12-04-2018 04:34 PM

If finding the original SNES gear was that easy and cheap, I would have done it in a heart beat.

Ultra Mantis 12-12-2018 02:50 PM

Finished the main questline of the Blood & Wine DLC last night (I already did Heart of Stone) and apparently I got the bad ending... But I personally think it was the best ending.

SPOILER: show
Basically all three antagonists end up dead, and yes I am calling Anna Henrietta an antagonist because the massacre at Beauclair was entirely her fault. She definitely did not deserve a happy ending after blazing a path of destruction and wanting to execute everyone linked with the murders by circumstance but protected the one who actually ordered them. She even threatened me with treason for pointing out vampires are fucking immortal killing machines, but when presented with evidence that her sister wanted to murder her and she greets it with a hug (and dies like an idiot). Anna Henrietta deserved to die. Any ending where she doesn't answer for her tyrannical decisions cannot be considered good IMO.

Detlaff and Syanna were shitheads too. Read that in one ending Syanna dies at the ruins and you go to jail. That sounds worse. Worse still is the "good" ending where the sisters make up and all those murders are laughed off and swept under the rug. How dare you disgrace the good name of Ser Milton de Peyrac-Peyran like that.

Just going to tie up some loose ends (Skellige Gwent!) and then it's back to Persona 5.

ClockShot 12-13-2018 07:33 AM

Finally finished the story of Red Dead Redemption 2. That's going on the back burner on a simmer for now.

Starting up Assassins' Creed: Odyssey today. Hoping for the best, I guess.

A.J.K 12-13-2018 06:15 PM

The Black Wind Howls....One among you will shortly perish.

It's from one of my favorite games.

SlickyTrickyDamon 12-13-2018 06:45 PM

Star Trek Online. Just put out some Discovery questline.

Splaya 12-14-2018 08:09 AM

I'm committing to playing a lot of Red Dead redemption for Christmas Break from school ( I teach middle school) for two weeks. Forgot that Kingdom Hearts 3 comes out Jan 29 (which we have discussed here before) but once that comes out, that will be front and center in terms of what I play till I beat the game

ClockShot 12-16-2018 11:07 AM

My god Ubisoft needs to just end the Assassins' Creed series or they need to spend like 3-4 years working on the next one.

I'd figure they'd get some things right in Odyssey. Instead, it's worse.
