lol How long did it take you to choose which thread this goes in?

I would alternate the threads. To be a dick.

Lock Jaw 12-23-2013 08:23 PM

Not very long at all.

Kalyx triaD 12-23-2013 08:41 PM

I'll destroy you next time, Lock Jaw! I shall return...

Nowhere Man 12-25-2013 10:57 PM

So has anyone else been following the web-series The Joker Blogs? Because it's three episodes into its second season, and it's fucking amazing.

Here's the most recent episode....

....but if you haven't seen it, I really recommend starting from the beginning.

dronepool 12-27-2013 12:49 AM

Holy shit, part 3 was epic. Did it take that long to do this or why do they release it so slowly?

Lock Jaw 12-27-2013 12:52 AM

It is just one dude who is making it, so there is no "they"... I imagine it takes quite some time to create, plus doing it in his spare time....

Lock Jaw 01-13-2014 05:50 PM

So that "Gotham" TV show that is in development for Fox, is confirmed to have Bruce Wayne in it and "The show will track Bruce from a child (around 12 years old) until he puts on a cape (in the finale)".

Also various bat-villains confirmed to appear, including Catwoman, Riddler, and Penguin.

McLegend 01-13-2014 07:19 PM

So it's Smallville with Batman?

Lock Jaw 01-13-2014 07:48 PM

Well, the original news was that it was a show about Jim Gordon and his rise in the GCPD.... so it is Smallville with Batman and Gordon.

Kalyx triaD 01-13-2014 11:31 PM

So... Are we gonna see different recasts of Bruce or are they starting with a late-teens Bruce? How many seasons are we looking at? Didn't Bruce travel around the world training?

Lock Jaw 01-14-2014 03:45 PM

Aquaman getting a second ongoing comic book

Shadow 01-14-2014 09:23 PM

....WHY!?

Goyer, who of course has co-scripted and/or worked on the stories for the Dark Knight trilogy as well as Man of Steel and its upcoming sequel -- not to mention many other comics related projects -- will write the Constantine pilot with The Mentalist’s Daniel Cerone for Warner Bros. Television.

John Constantine is one of the best known characters from the supernatural side of DC. Created by Alan Moore and Steve Bissette (for Swamp Thing), his solo book Hellblazer was a Vertigo mainstay, running for 300 issues. Constantine has also been a key figure in Justice League Dark, and let's not forget that Keanu Reeves even played him on the big screen at one point!

The news follows today’s revelations about FOX’s upcoming Gotham TV series, which will reportedly be a Nolan-esque Batman origin story.

The History of John Constantine

Meanwhile, NBC has also ordered a pilot for a new procedural from Arrow's Greg Berlanti called Mysteries of Laura, which will be a “drama with a sharp sense of humor following a quirky female homicide detective who juggles high stakes crime as well as her ex-husband and a devilish set of twin boys.”

Aquaman has been one of the only books worth reading in the New 52. It was pretty sweet. I am way behind on it though, and haven't finished reading Geoff Johns' run on it..... so I don't actually know how the new writer is doing on it.

Unacceptable.

parkmania 01-17-2014 10:52 PM

The CW has decided not to move forward with its Wonder Woman prequel series Amazon, according to Hollywood Reporter. The series had been developed based on a script by Alan Heinberg, but the network was not satisfied (see "No Pilot Order Yet for 'Wonder Woman'") and requested a rewrite by Heroes writer Aron Eli Coleite last May (see "CW Puts New Writer on 'Wonder Woman' Project").

When the network started moving ahead with a Flash series, the Wonder Woman series started to lose momentum (see "Flash Origin in 'Arrow'"), and has now been declared dead in that form at the CW by network president Mark Pedowitz at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour.

New Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara wants to find a way to use the character (see "Warners Has 'Huge Plans' for 'Other DC Properties'"), but it looks like it’s going to take a different idea than the prequel concept that was being developed at the CW.

NBC also had a Wonder Woman series in development back in 2011; that series is also dead (see "NBC Dumps 'Wonder Woman'").

It's not like the rest of the Justice League look happy to see him either. I'm sure it'll be fine, maybe.

Fignuts 01-18-2014 06:39 AM

Yeah, guessing it's like Sabertooth's last venture with the x-men, where he was on the team due to the situation, and not because anyone actually wanted him there.

Nowhere Man 01-18-2014 12:26 PM

I'm honestly kind of amazed DC hasn't tried this before, given that "arch villain joins the heroes" is a favorite in Marvel's playbook, and DC has been trying to imitate Marvel for like thirty years or so.

Kalyx triaD 01-18-2014 02:01 PM

The 'strange bedfellows' thing is a fine line for me with comics. It bothers me for two main reasons:

1) It almost always demands somebody severely breaks character for it to work. Under no circumstance could Wolverine and Sabretooth share living spaces for more than a day, without turning it into a warzone. At the very least, I like that they ended that arch with Logan starting a fight for seemingly no reason while Creed was just watching TV. Course correction.

2) They pretty much never play it in reverse. When bad guys join the good guys they don't have to be mind-fucked or tricked or anything. It's something, somehow, the good team has to deal with it. 'Shake things up' and whatever. But when a good guy takes a trip on the dark side there has to be all sorts of narrative apologetics to explain it. So we have the spells, mind-fucks, illusions, possessed bodies, etc. By this standard villains have more capacity for change than the heroes.

Fignuts 01-18-2014 02:13 PM

You are thinking of the first time Sabretooth joined the x-men. The second time was acompletely different story. He didn't so much join them as he did place himself in their captivity to protect him from the Children.

Doctor Doom teams up with the heroes all the time, to tackle a larger threat. As does Thanos.

Point is, they don't have to stray from his character to make this work.

Lock Jaw 01-18-2014 03:24 PM

Apparently the Ted Kord Blue Beetle is back as well, and will also be a part of the Justice League.

Oh. My. GooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooD!

Lock Jaw 01-20-2014 07:25 PM

The movie will probably be better than the original story.

Also, I miss Damian.

:'( He really, really grew on me right before he died.

but death in comics is an inconvenience rather than a finality so heres hoping.

Also, I want my fucking Batwoman/Maggie wedding DC!

Lock Jaw 01-20-2014 08:43 PM

Hate that Grant Morrison took Damian away. Damian was the best when NOT being written by Grant Morrison. Feel bad for the other writers.

dronepool 01-20-2014 09:23 PM

I'm buying Son of Batman based on the fact it's based on Grant's run, which I love and is one of my favorite Batman stories.

Lock Jaw 01-20-2014 10:19 PM

I know it is still "early" to bring him back, but I'm hoping that the upcoming weekly Batman series somehow brings Damian back to the living.

parkmania 01-20-2014 11:01 PM

Dislike the new voice actor for Bruce. Sounds like DC said "Let's go see if we can find someone who can do a Kevin Conroy imitation so we don't have to pay the real Kevin Conroy."

Kalyx triaD 01-20-2014 11:51 PM

Bruce Greenwood would have fine as the new ongoing Bat-voice. He was fucking epic in Red Hood and Young Justice.

slik 01-21-2014 05:58 PM

DC has cancelled the following titles and they will have their last issues in April:

NIGHTWING (they better not kill off Dick Grayson in Forever Evil)

Superman Unchained (maybe Snyder and Lee's take on the man of steel isn't selling as well I thought it would).

Justice League of America (will be replaced by the new Justice League United)

Suicide Squad

Stormwatch (what will they do with Midnighter and Apollo now)

Teen Titans (what will happen to Tim Drake)

<s>2) O.M.A.C.</s>
<s>3) Blackhawks</s>
<s>4) I, Vampire</s>
<s>5) Voodoo</s>
6) Batwing
<s>7) Suicide Squad</s>
<s>8) Legion Lost</s>
<s>9) Men of War</s>
10) Red Hood and the Outlaws

I'm so close to winning!

slik 01-21-2014 06:41 PM

I don't see Red Hood and the Outlaws or Batwing going anytime soon....then again, I could've said that about Nightwing, Teen Titans, Justice League of America and Superman Unchained...
