..... if your a Manc.

LUISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

I'm almost disappointed....it was just too easy.

Dazz 03-09-2005 08:10 PM

Happy with that, I would have liked to face Madrid but Oh well. Always wanted Liverpool to go though so woo. Plus Arsenal going out when they needed just the one goal is great.

Bring on the next round.

Cactus Sid 03-09-2005 08:31 PM

As strange as this sounds, the only team I really don't wanna face in the next round.....is Lyon.

Dazz 03-09-2005 08:36 PM

They beat a shit team, you will paste them. One scoreline does nothing.

Mr. Monday Morning 03-09-2005 09:58 PM

They finished above Man United, that surely says something.

Mr. Monday Morning 03-09-2005 10:01 PM

Ah man, I completely missed 7000.

Oh well.

Danny Electric 03-09-2005 10:15 PM

Wahoo for Mr Monday Morning. :)

I'm still ecstatic about tonight. :)

Dazz 03-09-2005 10:18 PM

It says about as much as them ebing top of the French League. United didn't pull their shit together till after Xmas.

Danny Electric 03-09-2005 10:35 PM

I'm going with Milan to win the Champions League but my heart is with my boys.

Wgat about you?

Dazz 03-09-2005 10:50 PM

Juventus.

Wengerland 03-10-2005 05:12 AM

Milan or Chelsea, but if i had to pick one i'd say Milan.

Lyon are a good side, i don't know if Bremen were very poor on the night but they're no mugs, and to get 10 goals over 2 games at this stage is a great achievement.

Dazz 03-10-2005 05:21 AM

Lyon are gay, we will murder them if we get them.

I don't think there's much in it between Milan, Juve and Chelsea, just I think Cappello is the best manager of the three.

Cactus Sid 03-10-2005 06:59 AM

Anyone but Liverpool would beat Lyon, I just have this feeling.

We've gotta hope for PSV, realistically we can get a draw out there and beat them at home.

Wengerland 03-10-2005 07:30 AM

I wouldn't say Lyon are up there with the best in Europe but that's 2 years in a row they've reached the quarters and are on course for a 4th successive French title and as poor as that league might be, it still has to be won. Last year Marseille and Monaco both reached European finals but didn't come close to Lyon in the league.

Just think that it would be a mistake to underestimate them, very technically gifted side and i doubt anyone would thrash them.

Wengerland 03-10-2005 07:41 AM

Also, Liverpool wouldn't be guaranteed qualification if they win the champions league but finish 5th :| Then again, the FA would probably get UEFA to have them in and move Everton to the UEFA Cup, should they finish 4th.

It would be harsh on whoever misses out really, if Everton finish 4th then they thoroughly deserve a champions league place, but if Liverpool win it then they should be in as holders really. I can't see them winning it anyway, but still..:|

Dazz 03-10-2005 10:09 AM

Are you sure Wengerland? We had this discussion on Rajah's, and apparently if Liverpool won and finish fifth then they take fourth spot, as you can't have five clubs in Europe from the same country.

Mr. Monday Morning 03-10-2005 10:43 AM

You can't have 5 clubs in the same competition, I think is the rule.

Considering up until Tuesday there were 4 English clubs in the Champions League, and Newcastle and Boro still in the UEFA Cup, doesn't make sense otherwise.

Cactus Sid 03-10-2005 11:19 AM

Stop talking like Liverpool could actually win it

Dazz 03-10-2005 12:27 PM

Yeah what MMM said is right.

Sid, anyone can win it, it's doubtful you win, but there is a small chance.

Steve Claridge is stupid.
Yes we didn't create chances against Olympiakos but we weren't playing agaainst 9 men.
That's why Newcastle are creating so much.

That's what i was saying ;)

It would just be cruel on Everton if they finish 4th but end up having to settle for a UEFA Cup place, but 5 clubs from one country in the same competition would be too much. I guess the rule has probably been around for a while, they've just not had to use it as the winners tend to finish in their leagues qualification placings.

Decent game, Newcastle did pretty well.

Mr. Monday Morning 03-10-2005 03:30 PM

Claridge is a cunt

Cactus Sid 03-10-2005 05:01 PM

I've had it in for Steve Claridge since he scored on Champ Man, which cost me the title.....

That was like 8 years ago

yianni 03-10-2005 06:10 PM

UEFA Cup first leg:

Olympiakos (Greece) 1-3 Newcastle United (England)

Wengerland 03-10-2005 06:14 PM

Looks like me and RBF are alone in loving Steve Claridge :'(

Newcastle got a bit lucky really, i still don't get the 2nd sending off, whether it was that lad who fouled Butt, but he seemed some way away. First wasn't a penalty, so never a sending off, the guy's got to go for it otherwise Dyer scores.

yianni 03-10-2005 06:18 PM

All results in UEFA Cup:

Partizan 1-1 CSKA Moskva

Olympiakos 1-3 Newcastle United

Shakhtar 1-3 Alkmaar

Austria 1-1 Zaragoza

Middlesbrough 2-3 Sporting

Lille 0-1 Auxerre

Sevilla 0-0 Parma

McDoogle 03-10-2005 06:25 PM

Fucking Inter, i love them to death but they cant win a fucking game.

Dazz 03-10-2005 06:41 PM

I would love it if he fucked off sooner and we wouldn't have lost five out of six possible points to them.

Cactus Sid 03-10-2005 07:06 PM

You'd have everything sewn up but for King Kev :(

Oh yeah, how much are the cheapest tickets at Chelsea?

Cactus Sid 03-10-2005 07:36 PM

Just found that this thread has the 2nd most replies of any thread on the entire forums.

Its also officially the greatest thread, because the only one with more is the "What Are You Listening To Right Now?" thread, which has one line answers all the time.

Therefore..... Best Thread Ever....

Dazz 03-10-2005 08:25 PM

I dunno Sid, not too sure, for members I think its around 45 quid. For general sale, well, that never happens. Might works out to be 39 quid a ticket but it's on a season ticket.

Dazz 03-10-2005 08:28 PM

Looks like it has that amount of replies mainly down to people like us Sid.
