CM PUNK vs PENTA OSCURO announced for Dynamite. Calling this now: this will be the greatest match in AEW history, bar none.

Nothing wrong at all with Bret Hart as a template, obviously! |
is it not paying tribute? why the quotes? it's not like he hasn't been long vocal about his bret love and was trying to keep it a secret.
|
The guy took “set your DVRs for an overrun” as “Meltzer doesn’t want people to watch live.”
Understanding human language is a tough ask for cumdorxbot. |
Of course it's a tribute. Being someone who speaks the English language, I'm sure Roddy has heard that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery
XRod is just fueled by AEW fan hate that blinds him from the truth but admittedly leads to hilarity. It's a delicate balance. |
Quote:
That was the joke, "oh he ripped off Bret, oh no I mean he "paid tribute" to Bret". Not a knock on Bret, not a knock on emulating a Bret match, JUST a knock on how Phil waited until he got a little negative feedback before he brought it up. |
Giving Punk any negative feedback for using a Bret Hart template is fucking idiotic in and of itself and speaks to how annoying a lot of wrestling fans are.

Punk is not for everyone. I like him as a performer, but there is definitely something irritating and “unearned” about how he holds himself as a performer. I like guys taking themselves seriously. But it’s like Punk thinks he is a draw when he has been responsible for moving numbers maybe twice.
|
you know a joke is great when you have to explain it and it still falls flat. but this is how most of your "jokes" go.
rub out your tiny little hard on for punk, cumdork. you'll feel better. |
Quote:
You dislike Punk enough to not have to invent reasons to hate him. |
Quote:
I do dislike Punk, I do not need to invent new reasons to hate him, I already hate him. It is embarrassing to a company saying they want to be more like real sports, yet they are pushing the one guy who we all know would get his ass beat by any of the wrestlers being forced to job to him. And why just because he is their boss' favorite wrestler. This dude who went 0-2, got absolutely destroyed in one with zero offense, then got toyed with so badly that the boss fired the opponent that beat him. His entire MMA Career consisted of 1 takedown. 2 fights, 1 takedown, yeah let's push THAT guy. |
|
Given that I similarly sewered HHH in his retirement thread, I must leave you to your opinion, kindest of sirs @RodX
|
Fortunately I don’t feel the same obligation that Dale feels.
Xrod, you are shockingly stupid. |
Ease up, it's still real to him damnit!
|
The stretching is getting genuinely cringe inducing.
|
my overall take on punk is better late than never. you can't deny that he brings established appeal and match quality to the table, but i'm sure even he would admit that his status has diminished as a result of his extended hiatus from pro wrestling, to where he is not quite the needle-mover he once was. wrestling has changed a ton in his absence. mma w/l record doesn't really hold any weight, not sure why cumdorx has to make that argument, or why there's any reason to hate, when hate carries such a strong connotation and considering you can still stomach watching his matches
that being said, i look forward to seeing perhaps the only penta match i have given a FUCK about in forever tonight. a fresh match that i really don't know what to expect from either guy in terms of chemistry, story, anything really. it is yet another one of those matches that could have been actually booked better but we're just seeing it for the sake of a good paper card on free weekly tv. by the way, was really surprised/relieved that there are no stupid, meaningless and unnecessary gimmick matches for dynamite tonight. huzzah! |
Are we sure Punk didn't fuck X-Rod's mother, sister, or girlfriend? Maybe even some combination thereof?
Not sure how else I can fathom having THIS much vitriol toward CM Punk of all people. |

I know people who know Punk by the shitty horror film and don’t take him seriously because of that. What you do outside wrestling does matter. |
From what I'm to ascertain, there's lots of "hypocrisy" and "homerism" in the AEW versus WWE battle. In that the collective "we" ignores the shortcomings of AEW while complaining about the same things in WWE.
Also, apparently everyone "rides" Noid for criticizing AEW without watching it while many of us criticize WWE without watching it. This is from an inside source, close to the action. The only one I find annoying is Noid because he literally thinks he's the main character of all life. XRod is humorous to me. |

He clowned AEW for a solid 2 and a half years. He mocked them for their contract offers. He consistently said he would Never EVER EVER EVVVVVER wrestle again. He is STILL talking about FEDBAD even though he asked to go back. He took a job with Fox on a show about WWE to try and get his foot in the door. He THEN tried to get WWE to take him back again, and again WWE turned him down. Fox offered to pay Punk's salary if WWE would use him on Smackdown, Vince STILL said no thanks. He is as thin skinned as Tony Khan, and acts tough on Twitter to fans who don't virtually blow him, but everybody knows how easily he got his ass beat, twice. He FUMES over a throwaway comment Miz made on a backstage show, but then has to name drop Miz on AEW TV. He bitches about WWE getting blood money, but then thinks it is bullshit Bret Hart doesn't get to make that Saudi money. He complained about old stars coming back and takings spots, yet that is exactly what he has done. Regardless of my being wrong about who filed suit first, he absolutely dicked over Colt Cabana, mainly because Cabana visited friends when WWE was in town. He has the same music, same moves, same T-Shirt as he had in WWE, good thing he has that creative freedom to do EXACTLY the same character that FEDBAD FORCED him to do. He is a turd of a person. |

Oh, man. Xrod made a list of facts. That tends to always hold up against scrutiny in his favor.

I don't think AEW's shortcomings are ignored like they aren't there inasmuch as the regular AEW viewers here are willing to give those things a pass because the show is overall enjoyable. I certainly have my gripes but it's nothing "gamebreaking" for me and hopefully remains that way. I don't feel like my time is wasted watching AEW, and at the end of the day, with a litany of entertainment options available, we shouldn't watch shit that makes us feel like we're wasting time that could be spent on things we enjoy. |
Also, if Xrod said “I went to a cemetery, dug up a random grave and shit on the coffin”, Noid would respond with “I don’t see why anyone would have a problem with this…”

My understanding is that AEW dicked him (because they are morons/possible some were threatened), but I did hear he tried to get back into the WWE. I didn’t believe they would say no to him, but when you think about what a headache he must have been (WWE were trying to push him for years before the pipe-bomb) and they probably knew they’d get no return off their investment, I tend to believe it now. Punk’s not a draw. He’s kind of a Trojan horse you can let go to a rival and watch them get nothing out of him. |

This place is getting fairer, it seems. The magic is wearing off. People realize “Eh, this is kind of the shits.” In my opinion, I don’t think the calibrations are completely honest just yet. People are still willing this thing to be better than it actually is. They’ll tell themselves it’s entertaining. Criticism is becoming more commonplace though. Guys like xrod, Lock Jaw, XL, Fignuts, Maluco and even Mr. JL with his rare appearance lately deserve credit for that. |
The followers begin to realize “hang on, AEW isn’t perfect” beyond it being the line you can hide behind.

Also, can’t agree with your last assessment. Noid can be a blowhard but his criticisms of AEW hold water a lot of the time. He loses me by going “too far the other way” to create “balance” in the argument. However, he does form his own opinion (usually) and contributes his own thoughts. On the other hand, xrod spends a lot of time reposting crap from Twitter and Reddit, neither of which are platforms I care for, and making exceptional reaches to criticise Tony Khan and/or Punk. Like, there is a decent amount of stuff you can legitimately criticise AEW for (too much garbage wrestling, too much blood, etc), that you shouldn’t need to reach that far. That said, it’s his prerogative to do all of that, and if it brings him joy, let it be. |
Dont really care if Punk is a shithead in real life, so long as hes entertaining when hes on my tv. And he is.
|
Like, do you know how many wrestlers could be classified as awful people by those same standards?
|
Shawn Michaels was a shithead and lost real fights on a regular basis.
Shawn Michaels is also the GOAT |
He lost to 100 marines, all fully equipped for combat.
|
Seems quite an appropriate time to mention that CM Punk blocked me on Twitter for suggesting AJ Lee looks like Gilbert Gottfried in their wedding photo. I hope he occasionally hears his voice when he’s banging her.
|
Xrods posts read like a 16 year old girls by the way.
There’s a strong chance you’re all picking on a 16 year old girl you bunch of bullies. Just leave her be. |
So we should all approach x-rod posts as if it's a teen girl? How quickly would we end up on a list?

So the same AEW fans who were booing Cody before he left are now chanting for him because they want what they can't have?
|
Wrestling fans aren’t known for their intellect or life choices.
|
Pat Buck quit WWE and is now working for AEW. Pretty wild, he was one of the top agents for WWE. I wonder if he can be responsible for limiting superkicks and dives outside of his brother Buck's matches? plz.
|
Amazing how nearly every time a "giant size" wrestler appears they're almost always 7'2". Must be a hard on for that height in the wrasslinn business
|
|
I liked Cody im AEW. Think he should’ve turned heel and ran with it, and that his Ogogo feud stunk because if the patriotism angle when the betrayal angle was right there.
He put Sammy over big time on the way out abs I think his match with Dustin was the best storytelling AEW is likely ever gonna do, and I credit Dustin and Cody for that. I’m rooting for him in WWE but man we all know how that’s likely gonna go. |
I really like Cody, I expected I would tune into WWE to see him. I haven’t. With each day it’s less likely I will I think.

Sammy Guevara’s in hot water again. More clips of him making a “joke” about someone’s mom being black, so “fuck her, right?” and saying that he will rape Miley Cyrus. They sent him to sensitivity training, and this stuff is probably from the past, so who knows if the company will do anything about it, or if they see his changed ways and aren’t going to fuss too much about it. But don’t expect him to be a babyface anytime soon.

Wouldn’t shock me to see him Controlling His Narrative very soon.

Sammy's matches lack structure and pacing. He's overrated.

Haven’t watched but saw Sammy won’t the belt back. Meh. The title took a dip the minute he won it the first time. However, Ethan Paige cut a terrific promo that was only shown on Twitter I believe, and if that’s the direction they’re going in then great
