Just watching/fast forwarding through RAW right now....
WHAT It is like they are intentionally doing the worst things possible.... So, instead of having Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn in a one on one blood feud type match.... they are now both stuck into a multi-man ladder match. Meanwhile Kallisto gets the one on one match spot against Ryback. Kallisto, the guy who you would think would be the one to fit right in defending his title in a multi-man ladder match if they wanted one. This seems totally ass backwards to me. |

Ryback doesn't really play to Kalisto's strengths either. Their match during that WWE title tournament was pretty dull. Especially considering that realistically Ryback would walk right through a guy like Kalisto in real life. But also, long matches don't really favour Kalisto, and Kalisto would be better showcased with someone he can fly around with.
Whatever though. It might be a short match full of fast, furious action. |
Maybe we get another 17 second title match.
|
There are so many matches that don't matter on this card it's like going back to Wrestlemania 1.

finger poke of doom at mania. vince finds out the injury and curses the sky "Oh okay God! you don't like Roman either huh?! well he's still goin over, dammit!" |
Was gonna call Titan Towers and pitch my award-winning feud with Norman Smiley to fill a spot on the card if needed.

Guys, look on the bright side. At least Mojo Rawley doesn't have a match at Wrestlemania.

RE Owens match
They wanted to get a ladder match on the show to help load it up. It's not like Zayn is incredibly over right now. I think vs Owens one on one would be a dead segment. Even though it's a cluster, the Ladder Match is pretty close to a can't miss segment on the show. You can spin off Zayn-Owens post Mania. Ryback vs Kalisto needs to be one on one because of the story they are trying to tell there. |

Plus WM crowd usually packed with smarks. |

I actually do kind of agree the ladder match is the right call. Us hardcore rasslin'/NXT fans would love it because for us it's been building for a very long time. To the casual fan, Zayn isn't at the level to warrant a 1-on-1 title match at WrestleMania yet. The live crowd would be into it. The live Mania crowd isn't a good representation of the majority of the people watching though.
Then again, looking at how unappealing the card is, I guess it couldn't hurt too much... |
Regardless...... Kalisto would have been "more of a spectacle" in the ladder match.
|
I'd actually be fine with them finding a way for Owens to avoid Zayn at WrestleMania and just throwing the guys in that match into a ladder match with Kalisto and Ryback. Maybe put Owens in Jericho and Styles' feud for a triple threat for the IC Title.
Seems like Kalisto would benefit more from retaining in such a match on such a big stage while Owens-Styles-Jericho would be a WAY better use of a singles match than Ryback-Kalisto. Granted I haven't paid much attention to the Ryback-Kalisto feud. Maybe it's brilliant and has the fans clamoring for that epic showdown. |

He's just not a hot enough babyface right now. Plus I don't think the plan was ever for a singles. KO Mania always sounded like they were planning to have him defend against multiple people. |
What feud?
I think Ryback tried to call him out for being "little" but that's it. |

Going by what exactly? KO Mania, per KO was to have a #1 contenders match so he could face the winner (no "s" on the end) at KO Mania. Unless you are going kayfabe and believe that was "The Authority's" plan all along. |

WIth what build tho......
There hasn't been one. Mind you, that is me "reading" and not watching the programming. |

Just my interpretation of the phrase. |

I get that :| BUT WHERE IS IT OUTSIDE OF 1 COMMENT? |

Ever since he has come back he has looked out of shape and sloppy, though.... missing Cena's ability to heal from injuries quickly and come back looking the exact same. |
I won't say Zayn is Neville yet because that would be a huge insult. He has time to show his charisma but as of right now he's just some new guy that has not done much.

Catchy theme helps. I wouldn't put him in the same class as Neville either. When Neville moved to the main roster I could tell from the start he was doomed. Maybe it ws the cape maybe it was the name being shortened to just Neville (which is stupid who thought that name was marketable?)Sami I see the chance for a really bright future. |
I'd argue Sami is closer to Cena than Neville for comparisons and possible future star ceiling.
His character already shares a lot with Cena's but without the negative baggage. Also is one of the few guys from NXT that didn't have issues with promo skills. Unlike Neville, he also already has his blood rivalry established with Owens that could easily be made into this gens Rock-Austin or Cena-Orton. |
Yeah I agree the singles match should be Zayn/Owens. They have a built in feud that has lasted years and WM is the perfect place to have it culminate. Ryback/Kalisto is about the weakest WM match ever with a shit quick build that no one cares about. If the match last longer than 17 seconds its a joke, even bigger if Kalisto wins. Match should be used to put the US title on Ryback in a dominating fashion. It's just a shit program thrown together at the last second, there is no story to it at all.

I kinda wanna see Owens and Zayn build up a Tommy Dreamer/Raven feud where Zayn just can't beat him. Not a sped-through feud for those with short attention spans where Zayn loses two matches in a month and then the next month "finally" beats him. I wanna see Owens actually win the feud and move on. Then come back to it in a year and Owens wins again. Both guys have years ahead of them. In like 5 years if Zayn has never beaten Owens, a WrestleMania match where Zayn finally gets the job done would be awesome.
|
The Ladder Match with Owens is fine, but Zayn being in there kind of dilutes their personal history. I'd have just waited until after WrestleMania to call up Zayn. Have him attack Owens on the post-Mania RAW as Owens bitches to Shane McMahon about how he doesn't have the IC Title because of some bullshit multi-man match.
I've got more of a problem with who they've put in it. Not the talent themselves, but just how that talent has been perceived for years. Stardust is fine. He stands out and always performs well in Ladder Matches. Ziggler and Miz are fine. They've both won big Ladder Matches and have been IC Champion numerous times. Plus they have a storyline reason for being in there. Zack Ryder and Sin Cara are just two characters that haven't been presented anywhere near being a threat though. I get that Neville was hurt, but at least someone like Tyler Breeze has been on TV. He could have appeared behind Owens on RAW as he backs away from all his challengers, laid him out and then taken a selfie with the "uggo." I really thought Kane would find his way in there, but they're forcing this Battle Royal on the pre-show in yet another "get everyone on the card" match. This is what that Ladder Match is for. Having both Big Show and Kane in a Ladder Match might seem lumbersome, but the spectacle of Big Show climbing and then falling off could get a big pop. Owens could powerbomb him through a ladder or something. If he's healthy, Bray Wyatt should be in there. I really feel that it should have been Kevin Owens, Big Show, Dolph Ziggler, The Miz, Stardust, Tyler Breeze (replacing Neville), Bray Wyatt & Kane. Has got more "cred." |
