Blaqk Audio - Bright Black Heaven 7/10 As far as the whole techno sound goes, it's pretty good. I still prefer their previous album but this one does improve upon the old. So hyper critical of any Davey Havok/Jade Puget work due to my ex-fiance's obsession with them. It has a nice mix of popular techno style mixed with 80's synth. Add in the weird vocal style of Havok and it's a 7. |
Quatuor Ad Libitum - Enescu: String Quartets Nos. 1 & 2 8/10
|
everything Wiz Khalifa right now
|
Tegan and Sara-Heartthrob: 8.5/10. Straight up pop. Pretty damn catchy.
|
I REALLY want to get that. Little bit Closer is my ringtone right now.
|
Shit. I like the same act as Gertner. Well, this has spoilt Tegan and Sara for me now.
Anyways, I have to wait another 2 weeks until Heartthob comes out in the UK. |
Steely Dan - Can't Buy A Thrill 7/10
Jean-Philippe Collard - Faure: Complete Piano Works 8/10 |
My Bloody Valentine - m.b.v. 9.5/10
Bleeding Rainbow - Yeah Right 7/10 Vatican Shadow - Ornamented Walls 8/10 Unknown Mortal Orchestra - II 6/10 Doldrums - Lesser Evil 7/10 Christopher Owens - Lysandre 5/10 Hunters - Hands On Fire 7/10 Calvin Love - New Radar 8/10 |
Grimes - Oblivion
It's pretty decent. Best one off the album is this, love her voice. AMAZING SONG: <object width="640" height="360"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/JtH68PJIQLE?version=3&hl=en_GB"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/JtH68PJIQLE?version=3&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object> |
Big Shiny Tunes 2- 10 of 10 for pure nostalgia
|
Queenadreena - Drink Me 7/10
Alexander Melnikov - Brahms Piano Sonatas Nos. 1 & 2 9/10 |
Nicki Minja- Roman Reloaded 8/10
|
|
Isabelle Faust/Alexander Melnikov - Beethoven: Complete Sonatas for Piano and Violin 9/10
Tegan and Sara - Heartthrob 7/10 |
John Adams - Son of Chamber Symphony/String Quartet 8/10
Julliard String Quartet - Brahms: Complete String Quartets/Clarinet Quintet 8.5/10 |
Days Go By- the Offspring: 7.5/10
After a decade of mediocrity, self parody and "meh" this album is actually their best offering In at least 15 years. There are about 2 "sellout" or mainstream humor hits like the band typically does and one is completely awful and Katy Perry-esque. Overall, it's a more than solid punk album and enjoyable. |
Pig Destroyer - 8.5/10
Nigel Kennedy and the London Philharmonic Orchestra - Elgar: Violin Concerto 7.5/10 Radu Lupu - Schubert: Impromptus 8/10 |
Arockalypse- Lordi 8/10
Reminiscent of KISS and its all European, monster/horror themed power rock. Saw them live a few times with other bands, enjoyed it and finally got around to their popular album. Also was at a GWAR show where they ripped off the singers head and it spat out green liquid. It's kitschy and schlock but of the highest degree. |
Frontier Ruckus - Eternity of Dimming 7.5/10
|
Kyung Wha Chung - Prokofiev/Stravinsky: Violin concertos 8.5/10
Pierre Monteux/Chicago Symphony Orchestra/Boston Symphony Orchestra - Franck Symphony in D Minor/Stravinsky Petrouchka 7/10 |
Bought:
David Bowie- The Next Day 8.5 / 10 How To Destroy Angels- Welcome Oblivion 7.8 / 10 |
David Bowie - The Next Day - Probably the best Bowie album since Scary Monsters, a couple songs I don't like, but overall this is pretty great. 8/10
Youth Lagoon - Wondrous Bughouse - Like this a lot more than his debut which kinda sounded like a generic bedroom pop album to me. His voice still kind of annoys me on some songs though, sounds like the old man from Family Guy. Like this a lot though. 9/10 Autre Van Neut - Anxiety - Not bad, gets kinda annoying though. 7.5/10 DJ Koze - Amygdalya - Good but super long. 8.5/10 Haxan Cloak - Excavation - 9/10 |
The Florestan Trio - Mendelssohn: Piano Trios 8/10
John Adams - Harmonium/The Klinghoffer Choruses 8/10 Converge - When Forever Comes Crashing 8.5/10 |
Ferry Corsten "Twice in a Blue Moon" 9/10
|
Domus - Faure: Piano Quartets 8.5/10
Oleg Kagan/Yuri Bashmet/Sviatoslav Richter - Shostakovich: Sonatas for Violin and Viola 8/10 Miles Davis - Bitches Brew 9/10 |
Rilo Kiley - Rkives 8/10
Christopher Hogwood/The Academy of Ancient Music - Albinoni: 12 Concertos Op. 9 7/10 Caitlin Rose - The Stand-in 8/10 John Adams - Gnarly Buttons/John's Book of Alleged Dances 8/10 |
A Flock of Seagulls - Listen
6/10 :) |
I like the new Deerhunter album and Kurt Vile album and Rilo Kiley RKives.
|
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs- Mosquito 9/10
This band can do no wrong it seems, at least as far as my tastes are concerned. They get a little experimental with the synths and electronica. Love how every album they make sounds noticably different from the last. Dunno if I like it more than It's Blitz! yet. Need to give it a few more spins. |
Ghost - "Infestissumam" - A solid 8/10
Kvelertak - "Meir" - 6/10 |
The Knife - Shaking the Habitual 9.5/10
Kurt Vile - Wakin' On A Pretty Daze 9/10 Deerhunter - Monomania - 8.5/10 Lots of good stuff lately, really hope the new National album pulls through too. |
Black Prairie - A tear in the eye is a wound in the heart 8.5/10
Jordi Savall/Le Concert des Nations - Jean-Baptiste Lully: L'Orchestre du Roi Soleil 7.5/10 |
Isabelle Faust - Bartok: Violin Sonatas 8/10
|
Depeche Mode - Delta Machine, not bad but my love for them is way back in my teens / early twenties, they just don't do it for me anymore sadly
Ghost B.C - Infestissumam - Decent, some good tracks, but I need to listen to it more I'm also looking forward to the new Filter album coming out. |
Arcade Fire - Neon Bible 8/10
The Chandos Baroque Players - Telemann: Chamber Music 7.5/10 |
Chance the Rapper - Acid Rap: 9.5/10
Totally got his own thing going...Crazy delivery and flow, clever word play and a good sense of humor/self awareness. About to put a few rappers out of work. I love it. Kurt Vile - Wakin on a Pretty Daze - 8.5/10 Deeper and more fleshed out than Smoke Ring, really diggin it right now. Love him. Alpoko Don - The Ol' Soul: 7.5/10 Might remember this guy from his youtube videos: <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/amVmLX8fXp4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Really love what he's doing, and he sticks to this aesthetic on the album but it gets a bit stale after 11 tracks. Still though, lots of "dope tracks". |
Peal Jam - Vs. 8/10
Christopher Hogwood/Handel and Haydn Society - Handel: Concerti Grossi Op. 6 8/10 |
"True North"- Bad Religion: 8.5/10
It's only something like 35 minutes long with 16 tracks and it is blistering and fantastic. They've still got it |
Really like the new Vampire Weekend. Less vampire weekendy than their other albums, for better and worse. Sweet.
|
Herbert von Karajan/Berliner Philharmoniker - Brahms 4 symphonies 8.5/10
|
The Mars Volta- Noctourniquet 8.5/10 Love it.
Rob Zombie- Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor 8/10 Great! The Flaming Lips- The Terror 8/10 Awesome. Ghost BC- Infestissumam - 8/10 Love it! |

Dont know if I ever gave my thoughts on this album, but
Ronald Jenkees - Days Away 10/10 If this style of music is your thing, you absolutely can't go wrong with Jenkees. Where 'Disorganized Fun' was all about the "solo", leading you through every song with a sick keyboard-shredding riff every time, Days Away is way more subtler than that. He really tries new things, the solo becomes more of a background noise while the rhythm and beat takes the lead. It's such a subtle album that it took a few listens before it clicked. Now, it's possibly my favorite thing he's put out. If you're not aware of who Ronald Jenkees is, fucking YOUTUBE THAT SHIT GOD DAMN IT. Sidetracked is possibly one of the sickest songs I've ever heard. |

I liked Hellbilly Deluxe 2 a lot. Educated Horses was my least favorite but still a pretty good album. But the new album has 2 ex-members from my favorite band so I might be a bit biased when judging it  I heard mixed reviews as well but I don't know what people expected from it. |
Awesome. Have the same thoughts as you about Zombies solo career and I liked the single off the new album.
|
Bush- Sea of Memories 7/10
Surprisingly good. Most Bush albums have a couple good songs and the rest is forgettable. This is the first effort since Sixteen Stone that I've enjoyed all the way through. |
Gil Shaham/Jian Wang/Berliner Philharmoniker/Claudio Abbado - Brahms: Violin Concerto and Double Concerto 8.5/10
Fleetwood Mac - Tusk 8/10 |
Queens of the Stone Age - ...Like Clockwork 10/10
Wow, this is the best thing they have ever done. It is incredible. Never expected anything like this out of them. I mean, I love QOTSA and Josh Homme, but this is far different and better than anything I could have imagined him putting out with QOTSA. |
Maxim Shostakovich/LSO - Dmitri Shostakovich: Symphony 10 9/10
|
She & Him - Volume 3 6/10
Same ol' schtick. You expect an act to develop over a number of albums, but there has been no growth at all. |
I have "hated" on Good News For People Who Love Bad News for years for no reason and I've just listened to it for the first time... I wish I listened to this when I was 15...
|
Fallout Boy- Save Rock and Roll 8/10
A return to form. Better than a return to form, really. |
Belcea Quartet - Schubert: Late Chamber Music 8.5/10 (9/10 for his 14th String Quartet)
|
Heinrich Shiff/Maxim Shostakovich - Dmitri Shostakovich: Cello Concertos 1 and 2 8.5/10
Louise Williams and David Owen Norris - Viola Sonatas: Idylls and Bacchanals 9/10 |
"10" New Kids on the Block "8.5/10"
Tremendous album. Best boy band ever! |
New kids on the block had a lot of hits. Chinese food makes me sick.
|
Chevelle - Hats off to the Bull 8/10
I'd say it is their best album since Wonder What's Next Valery Gergiev/Kirov Orchestra - Shostakovich: Symphonies 5 and 9 8.5/10 |
Killswitch Engage - Disarm the Descent 7/10
This is the only KsE album I have other than Alive or Just Breathing, which I bought around the time of its release. The record is solid, though not particularly "engaging," and I can't say I like it as much as the the previous album with Jesse Leach. I've never bought any of the albums with the other fella, as they sounded a bit too melodic for me. |

Phil Collins: No Jacket Required 10/10 it has Sussudio and Take Me Home that they used on Saturday Night's Main Event in the 80s. Phil Collins > all
|
Kanye 8/10
|
9/10, becoming "obsessed" with it
|

I have to be in the right mood to listen to Death Cab or the chap's voice just irritates the hell out of me. Clutch - Pure Rock Fury 7.5/10 |
Coalesce - Ox 7.5/10
|
Can't wait to hear Miley Cyrus's album

Black Sabbath - 13 - 9/10
Airbourne - Black Dog Barking - 8/10 Steel Panther - Feel the Steel - 8/10 |
Jay-Z - Magna Carta... Holy Grail 2/10
I really feel he should have stayed "retired" after "The Black Album" |
Kuniko Kato - Cantus 7.5/10
It hasn't grabbed me the way her ...Plays Reich album did a couple of years ago. I'm sure it will grow on me over time. Palms - Palms 7/10 I like it but nothing really stands out to me. |
Phil Anselmo and the Illegals - Walk Through Exits Only 7.5/10
Machine Head - Through the Ashes of Empires 8/10 Kirov and Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestras/Valery Gergiev - Shostakovich: Symphony No.7 "Leningrad" 7.5/10 Konstanty Kulka/Chee-Yun/Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra/Antoni Wit - Penderecki: Violin Concertos Nos. 1 and 2 8/10 |
The Dillinger Escpe Plan - One of Us is the Killer 8/10
I prefer it to the other Greg Puciato album that I have, Ire Works, but doesn't touch Calculating Infinity. |
Boris Giltburg - Prokofiev: War Sonatas 8/10
Gil Shaham/Adele Anthony/Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra/Neeme Jarvi - Arvo Part: Tabula Rasa 9/10 |
Washed Out - Paracosm

Nick Kamen- Move Until We Fly 7.5/10
Really listening to a lot of his music lately, great artist, his song,"I Promised Myself", is probably one of the best songs I have ever heard. |
Lamb of God - Ashes of the Wake 8/10
Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir/Tallinn Chamber Orchestra/Tonu Kaljuste - Arvo Part: Te Deum 7.5/10 Gregory and the Hawk - Leche 7.5/10 |
The Final Frontier by Iron Maiden: 6.8/10
Not a big fan of post 2000 Maiden but it's still better than a lot of contemporary stuff. A lot of longer songs and can seem pretentious at times. |
My Head is an Animal by Of Monsters and Men: 6.4/10
By contemporary standards, this is a fine album and deserves credit both musically and lyrically in a vast wasteland of auto tuning + vapid and superficial lyrics about dancing and partying. However, it cannot be ignored that this album drags and a lot of the songs have an AC/DC quality of sounding similar or just run too long. The standout tracks are 1,3,6,8 in my opinion. They're mostly the singles, so it was a wise decision to put their best feet forward into the mainstream. One of the better albums of 2012 but must be listened to only on occasion in its entirety, otherwise the droning of some songs or the sameness taint it after consecutive repeated listens. |

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PoXiHMNvCAQ Erasure's being slightly above a 2/10, beating Nick fucking Kamen. But you know, we all light different things. At least it's not the usual wanky pop like Gaga, Bieber and stuff / Rap shit that is thrown in our faces. |
Bitches need to understand that classical music is where all the kool kids are at...yo!
|
Norma Jean - Wrongdoers 8/10
Grigori Zhislin/Tatjana Vassiljeva/Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra/ Antoni Wit - Penderecki: Viola Concerto/Cello Concerto No. 2 7/10 |
Born in Hell by Viking Skull 8.8/10
Awesome album that can probably best be classified as hard blues rock. They can be heard throughout various episodes of Viva La Bam and have a great sound. This album is a number of years old but I believe they still tour and produce music. Stand out tracks would be "Seed Dealer" and "Crank the Volume." |
Lamb of God - Sacrament 7.5/10
Miles Davis - On the Corner 8/10 Domus - Brahms: Piano Quartets 9/10 |
OMG. Postiljonen - Skyler. It gets better with each listen.
