Give up? As in not make a Superman movie?

I'LL KILL YOU

Lock Jaw 03-11-2010 01:13 PM

Yeah, can't wait for this next Superman movie. Probably more hyped for it than BatNolan 3.

Jon Kano 03-11-2010 02:25 PM

Superman will fail.

Shadow 03-11-2010 04:20 PM

I don't get some superhero movies. Why do they constantly protray them in a universe where there are no other heros or villians in existance? It makes no sense.

Oh and FYI....Superman returns had Supes stopping a crime in Gothlam.

Interview with Chris Nolan. It's mostly about the Superman flick, but the most interesting tidbits are about the next Batman movie. Basically sounds like Nolan saying that this one will be the last one in his universe.

Nobody sets out to make a bad movie. Except for maybe Brett Ratner. And whoever wrote Meet the Spartans.

Two more cast members have been announced for the Green Lantern film. Taiki Waititi and Temuera Morrison (Jango Fett in the Star Wars films), both from New Zealand, have been cast as a friend of Hal Jordan’s, and Abin Sur, respectively, according to Hollywood Reporter. They join Tim Robbins, Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, and others (see “Tim Robbins in Green Lantern”).

Lock Jaw 03-15-2010 01:31 PM

Taiki as Pieface?

Kalyx triaD 03-19-2010 11:06 AM

Batman Beyond will receive a proper 6-issue comic. It's doubtful that it will become canon in the DCU, being that Terry already made cameo appearances as an alternate future Batman rather the Earth 1 future Bats - but it's good to hear about new material for a great series. Of course it'll be more mature than the (already mature) TV series, and success may give it life as an ongoing series. So buy it when it drops!

Kalyx triaD 03-22-2010 01:35 AM

To combat Marvel's aggressive film slate, and fill the void left from the ending Harry Potter series, WB will put DC movie on the forefront of their tentpole (Summer flicks) machine. Some overzealous bloke at WB expects Batman 3 and The Flash by 2012 - in 3D. Man of Steel may or may not be out afterward. No word on Wonder Woman. Also no update on an Avengers equivalent, though I assume they will not be ready continuity wise by the time Avengers drops.

I'd greenlight a JSA project instead of JLA. A less popular team where you have more room to reinterpret for film. It could ride the wave of the well received Smallville episode and give WB a live-action super team in half the time. And it wouldn't be as jarring as a JLA movie with no continuity build up (which the dumbasses almost did).

But that's just my idea, and what the fuck do I know, eh?

Kalyx triaD 03-24-2010 09:39 AM

Bah!

Lock Jaw 03-24-2010 03:56 PM

Pretty lame Batman story to turn into an animated movie. Though I can see it ending up better than the comic book story because they'll probably be forced to give a different reason for his resurrection other than "He was never suppose to die! So when an alternate reality Superboy punched a dimensional wall and changed reality, he came back to life!"

Kalyx triaD 03-24-2010 10:32 PM

Angela fucking Bassett is Amanda Waller in Green Lantern! The character is oddly named Dr. Amanda Waller, but we all know her place in the DC Universe is similar to Nick Fury. Could DC be emulating Marvel's use of Nick Fury as a cohesive element across multiple movies? If this is the case, it would seem DC is planning a certain super-team for real.

McLegend 03-24-2010 10:43 PM

They should have just gotten CC Pounder or whatever the fuck her name is to play Waller.

Kalyx triaD 03-24-2010 10:44 PM

That would be a dream. She has the visual demeanor and the voice recognized by many DC fans.

Lock Jaw 03-24-2010 11:34 PM

Green Lantern seems to be an odd movie for Amanda Waller to be in.

D Mac 03-28-2010 04:25 PM

Micheal Rosenbaum has stated that he is not coming back to Smallville at all. :(

If they bring Lex back, I don't think another actor would work.

Kalyx triaD 03-28-2010 09:09 PM

I call bullshit. They'll get his ass back for what may be the final season. Cameo or otherwise. Same for Kristen.

Fignuts 04-01-2010 03:11 PM

Been reading blackest night, and I have to say Larfleeze is fucking awesome.

"I want a whole FOREST of christmas trees! Whatever those are!"

Fignuts 04-01-2010 11:47 PM

Also, Blackest Night is cool and all, but it seems like one big cheap fan service trip at times. I do really like the occasional flashes of humanity from Sinestro. His character has fleshed out so much since gl: Rebirth, that he has become one of my favorite villains ever.

Lock Jaw 04-01-2010 11:59 PM

Blackest Night was an ok event. All the primary colors kind of did a number on my eyes, though.

Sinestro Corps War I think was the better event.

Fignuts 04-02-2010 12:25 AM

Definitely. Gonna try and get all of that in HC.

Fignuts 04-02-2010 01:59 AM

Right, just read blackest night 8, and I'm fairly dissapointed at the lack of closure for sinestro. Seems like everyone got some except for him.

Also, what happened to that vision Hal had of Sinestro saying "I can't do this without you" Did I miss it, or is that a loose end that will be adressed in another arc?

parkmania 04-02-2010 04:04 PM

Quite possibly that will be addressed in Brightest Day.

Kalyx triaD 04-04-2010 07:51 AM

Somebody please cast Julia Voth as Wonder Woman.

Kalyx triaD 04-13-2010 08:05 PM

Green Lantern's costume will be computer generated. Ryan's reportedly running around in a gray track-suit with red lights, where his costume will be super imposed during post. This is a peculiar decision...

parkmania 04-13-2010 08:31 PM

The only reason I could see doing that would be if they wanted to make the suit have a "glowy" effect or somesuch.

Kalyx triaD 04-13-2010 08:33 PM

I figured they could recreate the Rebirth effects with a conventional suit still. So long as it looks cool, though.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

BIG TIME

mitchables 04-14-2010 01:41 AM

...that is stupid. i know the uniform is generated by the ring and thus is "technically" made up of light and such but still. boo-urns.

Jeritron 04-14-2010 01:46 AM

It should just be a regular suit enhanced with CGI where needed

mitchables 04-14-2010 01:47 AM

yup, for sure. don't know why they'd cgi the whole thing.

Jeritron 04-14-2010 01:58 AM

I wonder if that includes a CGI mask. That would just be the peak of uneccessary CGI, and look so awful

Funky Fly 04-14-2010 08:26 AM

Maybe they are going for that Dr. Manhattan effect... which was hella expensive, mind you.

mitchables 04-14-2010 10:29 PM

yeah but manhattan didn't have to move around with anywhere near the kind of speed or agility that jordan does. he just walked real slow and pointed his finger at tanks.

mitchables 04-14-2010 10:30 PM

so it will be even more costly and look bad, is what i am saying.

Funky Fly 04-15-2010 06:08 AM

Yeah, or certain parts of it. The CGI should accent parts of it for that green glow effect.

Kalyx triaD 04-15-2010 02:53 PM

Well I'd assume since he's wearing a tight suit anyway there will be a primarily black recolor with some white (gloves?) and a soft green cover to avoid the Dr. Manhattan effect.

The Destroyer 04-15-2010 03:03 PM

Could also have something to do with the fact that green screen and green costumes don't go together.

Jeritron 04-15-2010 03:24 PM

That wouldn't be the reason for doing something like this. There have been green costumes and characters in CGI environments before.
They would just use a blue screen. It does the same thing, and is used just as often. In fact, blue screens were used before greens ever were

Kalyx triaD 04-15-2010 03:25 PM

I'm just trying to make since in what has to be the most superfluous use of CGI I've ever heard of.

Jeritron 04-15-2010 03:31 PM

I was responding to The Destroyer.

I'm sure the suit would be more than a recolor since he'll be covered with mo-cap balls. At least that's what the report said.

I really am curious to see if they CGI his mask. That would be ridiculous.
The "his suit is otherworldly" excuse is kind of lame. Yes, it has otherworldly powers that would call for CGI glow and CGI effects when he changes into it.
Still, it's a suit. It's a skin tight suit with a logo, boots, gloves, etc.
It's always been drawn as such and it's never looked like it wasn't a suit that Green Lantern wasn't physcially wearing.
I think that's lame logic for wanting to CGI the thing.

Jeritron 04-15-2010 03:34 PM

http://wengyuen.files.wordpress.com/...eenlantern.jpg

It's ridiculous to act like there is anything about his suit that is fundamentally different from Superman, Batman, Spiderman, etc., other than the fact that it has a bright green glow around his person.

Lock Jaw 04-15-2010 03:52 PM

I will reserve judgment until I see the result.

On second thought, screw it.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Jeritron 04-15-2010 03:58 PM

If it's good I will admit it obviously. I hope it is. I just think it's a shit idea.

I've been over CG for a while now though. It's over-used in general.

Here Come the Kids:

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...ungjustice.jpg

Peep the people behind this:

This series is produced by Warner Bros. Animation. Sam Register ("Teen Titans," "Ben 10," "Batman: The Brave and the Bold") is the executive producer. Brandon Vietti ("Batman: Under the Red Hood," "Superman Doomsday," "The Batman") and Greg Weisman ("Gargoyles," "The Spectacular Spider-Man," "W.I.T.C.H.") are the producers.

Holy shit, this is looking hot. Digging the art style and I love the roster. Bring it on, Titans.

Kalyx triaD 04-22-2010 12:08 AM

Why is Aqualad black, though? Should have went with Static Shock for the requisite minority...

Fignuts 04-22-2010 12:10 AM

Why is martian manhunter a girl?

Jeritron 04-22-2010 12:15 AM

Why?

Lock Jaw 04-22-2010 12:17 AM

Pretty lame. If you're going to do a Young Justice show, use the characters who were actually on the team.

Sucks that it is Kid Flash and not Impulse too.

Is the masked green lady supposed to be Arrowette?

Lock Jaw 04-22-2010 12:19 AM

Also, it is Miss Martian, a relatively new character. Not Martian Manhunter.

Miss Martian is really a "White Martian" or something like that, but disguises herself as a green martian because white martians are normally all evil or something.

Lock Jaw 04-22-2010 12:20 AM

Also, I HATE jeans/T-shirt Superboy. Give him his costume back. Some personality too.

Also, I will not slow down "bro".

I like this Superboy way better than that 90's loser (who was a stab at Marvel's dress code back then - jacket/coat over jumpsuits).

Lock Jaw 04-22-2010 12:58 AM

I like Second Costume Superboy. Didn't hate him before that, but his look was definitely dated to the 90s in his original costume.

Superboy was at his best when he was in Young Justice though.

I don't follow DC religiously, and have never seen a martian girl.

Jeritron 04-22-2010 01:51 PM

Either way, she's some lame progression from Martian Manhunter, and it should never have been done in the first place.

Lock Jaw 04-22-2010 01:59 PM

She was pretty much created just to give Martian Manhunter a teen counterpart in the Teen Titans. Don't know if they've even ever actually met in the comics.

Shadow 04-22-2010 04:18 PM

They have. She's as ditzy as they come.

Think Teen Titans Starfire(from the cartoon) only 1000 times worse. She defeated her evil future self by thinking of puppies and other cute things.

Common sense would still dictate that in a team of teenage counterparts to the Justice League - that cannot be Martian Manhunter. Layman or not.

Fignuts 04-22-2010 05:08 PM

I would not put that concept out of the question when it comes to a non-canon cartoon show.

Kalyx triaD 04-22-2010 05:28 PM

Well Aqualad is black.

Lock Jaw 04-22-2010 05:37 PM

This Young Justice show could have been tremendous if they chose to stick to the comic books.

Inadequacy 04-22-2010 06:25 PM

Well Spectacular Spider-man didn't exactly stick to the comics and it was awesome.

Nowhere Man 04-27-2010 03:18 PM

Since I'm pretty sure I'd go gay for Greg Weisman at this point (having grown up on Gargoyles, and Spectacular Spider-Man now being my second-favorite superhero cartoon ever, behind only the original B:TAS), I'm definitely on board for this.

Shadow 04-27-2010 11:37 PM

STARMAN

Pajiba reports a film based on DC's generational hero may be afoot. Unfortunately, they can't figure out which Starman the feature may focus on. "Which version is sort of unknown — he'l wield a gravity rod, have energy powers, and likely be able to fly. One of the more recent 'Starman' characters could also manipulate mass, but not word on whether that power will be present. It's being produced by Dan Lin ('Sherlock Holmes' — yay!, 'Terminator Salvation' — hmm…) and Gregory Noveck ('Jonah Hex' — jury's still out). No writer or director is attached yet, as the film is in very early development," they write. While I'd love to see Jack come to the screen, I don't know how much of his story would really make it to the screen.
I can see no good coming of this.

Boondock Saint 04-29-2010 02:55 PM

Erg. Robinson's Starman series is one of my favorite ever. I will follow this closely. Jack Knight is one of my favorite characters.

Lock Jaw 04-29-2010 05:34 PM

Same. Which is why I can see no good coming of this.

A looong time ago there was talk of a TV show based on the series, but it was going to be all weird and not have The Shade in it or anything. Luckily, that project halted.

Batman 3 - July 20, 2012. Chris Nolan and his bro, Jonah are working on the script now. Batman 3 joins the Spidey reboot and the Avengers for that summer.

Yeah, Jonah Hex is one of those characters who I know exists, but I haven't read ANY of his comics.

Movie looks like a pretty decent fun action-western movie.

The current series he has at DC is also supposed to be Awesome, but like I said, I have never read it.

Blitz 05-01-2010 03:50 PM

Jonah Hex looks like it could potentially go the way of Wild Wild West, but Josh Brolin alone is enough for me to give it a shot.
