If you also think about it, in Rhode Scholars and with Miz he always has someone to play off of (and that person he played off of was REALLY good)

I think when he debuted and was just "generic baby face" he had no direction, he had no real discerning reason for me to cheer him. At least as a heel, he makes it very easy to hate him. He's not a jacked monster like Lashley or doing cool flippy stuff like Trevor Lee. Maybe it's just me.... But he just has one of those faces you want to punch

Side note, I thought it was really creative when they did the "gimmick cheating" when he was turning heel. Like one show he has his knuckles all taped and they speculate if he's got rings on under. Another match he wipes his hands all over his towel and he guy makes it seem like his eyes are burning when he rakes his eyes. I really liked those attention to detail

Yes he's one of those guys that's easy to hate. I did like when he turned heel but he keeps the silly pink and yellow knee pads that kind of contradicts being a bad guy and looking mean. The cheating was ok but can you get DQed in a Impact Grand Championship style match? He definitely works better with someone to play off though and was probably best when working with Eli Drake.

Even when he turned they made him look like the biggest idiot ever.

"Gonna turn on Miz now instead of waiting for us to get Big Show out of the fucking match first."

Rollermacka 01-07-2017 01:42 PM

Hmm, I thought this week's Impact was.... solid. The matches were good (really enjoyed Bennett vs Moose and the Main). Although, I was somewhat disappointed that there was no Aaron Rex or Drew Galloway on the show :-\. I think this was a good start for the "new TNA" (this is like the third or fourth time they've tried to reestablish but oh well) it was nowhere near as "over the top" as the last two New Year shows.... but that isn't a bad thing

Simple Fan 01-07-2017 01:51 PM

Moose vs Bennett was probably the best Grand Championship style match. I still hope they drop the round format and think they are headed that way with the first wish of that match. I don't see Bennett being happy about not being pinned and losing. Main event was good but Eddie's surprise wasn't all that surprising.

SlickyTrickyDamon 01-07-2017 01:58 PM

Wasn't that one of Corgan's ideas? Seems likely if so. It also sucks the big one. Rounds are only for real sports or maybe British Wrestling.

A Rhode Scholars reunion would be nice if TNA can afford Cody.

Ultra Mantis 01-07-2017 03:42 PM

Cody is already in TNA, where he is clearly setting the world alight.

I don't think he has really signed anywhere just get though. Had already performed for TNA, ROH, and NJPW. Might continue to just do what ever he wants for a while. I just wish he could use the Rhodes name.

Nope, he only signed a one-day contract to get Brandi signed to a deal.

SlickyTrickyDamon 01-07-2017 09:35 PM

She is pretty terrible as a wrestler too. So, he basically hosed them and left.

Simple Fan 01-07-2017 10:01 PM

She did pretty well to be as green as she was. She really only came along to have the Rhodes name on TV and she got to wrestle which is something she wanted to do. He had a good program with Bennett and had a match for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. Was attacked by Lashley the last time he was seen on Impact so they left the door open for more appearances if he chooses.

Mr. Nerfect 01-08-2017 01:13 PM

I think Cody could have value to New Japan, and given that they are the #2 promotion in the world, I wouldn't risk getting into bed with TNA at this point.

Simple Fan 01-08-2017 01:17 PM

No doubt I think NJPW is the best place for him as well. Not sure what he really wants to do though. I think he likes doing the freelance thing.

Mr. Nerfect 01-08-2017 01:25 PM

Yeah, you're right, but that's why he shouldn't buckle down with TNA. He's going to have more freedom with New Japan and can probably make shots with ROH and some west coast promotions, like PWG and PCW. I am determined to get PCW over, dammit.

Simple Fan 01-08-2017 01:46 PM

I don't think he'll "buckle down" anywhere just yet. He could work TNA, ROH, NJPW, PWG, and PCW and not sign exclusive deals with any of them.

My only "gripe" with Brandi is that yes she's green.... but I think she was originally signed to a WWE contract in 2011, then went back to the WWE in 2013. Three years of having (arguably) the best trainers in the world, and she still looks like that in the ring? :-\

True, but didn't Eva "supposedly" only have like 4 weeks of training before she was put on the main roster? When she came back I thought Eva's performances were completely acceptable. Brandi spent 3(ish) years in NXT and her matches in TNA, well....

No, still can't use the Rhodes name on TV. Kind of found a loophole in TNA using Brandi as Cody & Brandi Rhodes. In ROH he went as Cody R and goes as The American Nightmare Cody in NJPW.

Ooo what I suggested

Mr. Nerfect 01-13-2017 05:11 PM

He should spell his name in capitals in Japan, like TAKA.

Mr. Nerfect 01-13-2017 05:12 PM

CODY

Mr. Nerfect 01-13-2017 05:15 PM

Brandi is gorgeous and it feels like she has personality to share with the wrestling world, but not everybody needs to be in-ring. It feels like the acts most people rave about in the WWE these days are acts that would make better managers than wrestlers. But I'm more interesting in Brandi "standing by her man" than getting in the ring herself. She's the Pepper Potts to Cody's Iron Man -- you don't need to give her her own power suit (although I'm sure there's a Marvel storyline where she does have one).

When Maria and Mike Bennett sign with the WWE later this year, Cody & Brandi can fill that roll in New Japan and on the independent scene. It looks like he will be working with TNA for the foreseeable future too. If they can get The Young Bucks in there for that program with The Hardys and to pimp some Bullet Club merchandise, I can see their viewers climbing to 500,000.

Mr. Nerfect 01-13-2017 05:17 PM

I'm not the biggest fan of the guy, but why they haven't signed Ryborg and had him just destroy jobbers that basically work for free every week is beyond me. I can legitimately see people looking forward to the Ryborg squash each week and it takes away one segment you need to put a lot of creative effort into.

You know, there are other TITANic guys on the indie circuit who can do an awesome job squashing little people :shifty:

As far as this week, another decent show. DCC were the definite standouts of the show. I really liked the promo, and I chuckled when they said Bram was 6 ft Seven  I will say also, Kingston has really won me over. I wasn't a huge fan of his in the beginning, but he's lost a ton of weight (I like the new vest as opposed to the singlet or the "catchers pad" it look like he wore one week) his part of the promo was good and I am overall enjoying his stuff in TNA.

...... And then there's Sandow. Now when I saw it I had a large groan just like most other people but then a friend brought something to my attention. He said that the character is suppose to be a "modern day Adrian Adonis", and I can conceivably see Aaron Rex pulling that off. "Supposedly" this gimmick was his idea, and he has made ALOT more out of less, so I'm gonna keep an open mind for this one.

Final mention, it may have been just me, but the crowd really seemed to be into the show last night. It may have been because this episode was filmed when they just started tapings (and there's some "shenanigans " that I read about that happened in the last couple of days) but it does seem to help that the crowd seemed into the show as opposed to just sitting on their hands.

Mr. Nerfect 01-14-2017 07:03 PM

I'd be all for Paul Titan TNA World Heavyweight Champion. I'm not going to blow smoke up your ass though, man -- I will probably still hate the Grand Championship even if you win it.

Mr. Nerfect 01-14-2017 07:04 PM

You're right with Sandow. Honestly, I don't really think Mizdow getting over was anything he particularly did, but the Intellectual Savior of the Masses thing he deserves all the credit in the world for.

Mr. Nerfect 01-14-2017 08:57 PM

Matt Hardy is a former two-time TNA Champion. I had no clue. Was this during his "Big Money Matt" run?

Simple Fan 01-14-2017 09:18 PM

The first time he won it was in a triple threat at BFG with EC3 and Drew Galloway. EC3 was the undefeated champion and Hardy pinned Galloway to win the title. However EC3 filed an injunction which forced Matt Hady off Impact for a month which meant he had to give up the title. The second time was a Last Man Standing match with EC3 where they did the double turn and Big Money Matt was born. Last Man Standing match was pretty good.

Mr. Nerfect 01-14-2017 09:35 PM

Ah, that's right. That Bound For Glory in North Carolina.

Simple Fan 01-14-2017 09:42 PM

Yeah Jeff was forced to be EC3s personal assistant and was also the special guest referee in that match and why EC3 filed the injunction.

Glad to see Caleb Konley finally debut this week. He's been signed awhile and only showed up on ONOs. Really think he has AJ Styles potential in the company. Can be a guy to revitalize the X division and a guy they can build up the card.

New Impact is off to a fast start. First 15 minutes and The Wolves have brawled, Josh Mathews and JB argued about JB being added to the announce table, and Cody came out and called out Moose who isn't there.

#BROKEN Hasney 03-10-2017 12:21 PM

Woah, it finally happened. The last TNA was so bad that even Voices of Wrestling hate it. They usually love all the shit TNA pumps out.

http://www.voicesofwrestling.com/201...eview-march-9/

Simple Fan 03-10-2017 05:25 PM

First 15 minutes were probably the best. Opening video they played was pretty good but filled with guys currently in WWE which is fine I just felt like they over did it a bit.

Dutch Mantel had a promo that pushed the line of copyright laws as well, almost introduced himself as Zeb before stoping and saying he'd get in trouble. Went on to talk about his previous time in TNA when it was great and that they lost the fans and that was going to change be cause We the People will make Impact Great again.

Just a lot of WWE references on the show and that was kind of the theme of the show. I do like JB being added to the announce table and that led to a WWE references with Josh saying this isn't Smackdown Live where they have 47 announcers. Pritchard talked about his time in WWE and they had two former WWE guys in the main event.

I did like how they wrote the Hardys off with Decay tampering with Vanguard 1, I assume they'll explain exactly what they did to him but I won't hold my breath. Really need new titles though as it's kind of dumb to announce TNA is dead but still have your championships branded with TNA logos. Also Cody had his GFW NEX Gen title with him and Reno Scum had the Future Stars of Wrestling Tag Team titles with them.

Overall the look of the show was a bit better with the new logo but was very strong with the WWE references to the point it was kind of ridiculous. X Division match was ok, and the main event was good til it got to the finish.

#1-norm-fan 03-10-2017 05:47 PM

Watching out of curiosity. Never cared for Josh Matthews and I kinda cringed when I heard he was gonna do the heel announcer thing but he was great in that segment.

#1-norm-fan 03-10-2017 05:49 PM

2 minute win by Reno Scum over DCC. Are DCC supposed to be not jobbers?

#1-norm-fan 03-10-2017 05:54 PM

New match. It seems to be a fatal fourway but only one guy got and introduction and the other three's names weren't even mentioned until after the match had started.

Yeah that's a head scratcher, especially when you just lost your tag team champions and you Decay and DCC are the only teams you have. Wasn't really impressed with Reno Scum.

#1-norm-fan 03-10-2017 05:57 PM

Laurel Van Ness coming out still in a wedding dress and holding her shoe and a bottle of wine from last week. Ridiculous. lol

#1-norm-fan 03-10-2017 06:00 PM

lol Loving Josh Mathews' "I'm a company guy and couldn't give a shit less about wrestling history" gimmick. Schilling some Pop TV show while being confused about who Rachael Ellering's dad is.

#1-norm-fan 03-10-2017 06:03 PM

Really just skipping through matches and looking for parts where Josh Mathews snaps. "NO ONE CARES ABOUT THE NAMES OF THE MOVES!"

#1-norm-fan 03-10-2017 06:04 PM

Final appearance of the Broken Hardyz tonight I guess.

#1-norm-fan 03-10-2017 06:13 PM

Lashley and El Patron fighting for the title is a good step in the right direction at least. They both come off as stars. They need more of this to build credibility and less Chris Sabin/Eddie Edwards championship reigns.

#1-norm-fan 03-10-2017 06:15 PM

EC3. Eeeeeh...

#1-norm-fan 03-10-2017 06:15 PM

Lashley could use a mouthpiece though.

#1-norm-fan 03-10-2017 06:19 PM

Cody is awesome. I hope that GFW title he's got gets re-named and becomes a legit Impact title. Do they even have a midcard title?

#1-norm-fan 03-10-2017 06:20 PM

God, these WWE references. Dutch almost calling himself Zeb as if he's being super controversial or something. So awkward.

#1-norm-fan 03-10-2017 06:23 PM

I don't get what Decay did to "delete" the Hardys.

The dumb Impact Grand Championship with the rounds. It's a good looking title but it's defended in stupid matches. Moose is the champion right now and he won it by split decision from Drew Galloway.

#1-norm-fan 03-10-2017 06:29 PM

Moose is champion? Perfect. Maybe they'll do a unification match.

Like I said I hope the elaborate a bit about what they did to Vanguard 1.

#1-norm-fan 03-10-2017 06:33 PM

I didn't really mind the ending.

They didn't need Dutch AND Pritchard to both do "TNA sucked but it will be good now" promos. It was overkill. Also, there wasn't a lot of substance to anything in the middle of the show. Matches seemed really dull.

#1-norm-fan 03-10-2017 06:36 PM

And I think the three guys Braxton Sutter wrestled were actually supposed to be at least kind of a big deal. Why were they treated like enhancement talent? It felt like a fatal fourway jobber match. Weird.

Thought that was weird as well especially since it was taped. I could understand if they were live but made it real obvious they have a hard on for Braxton. I like Caleb Konley and think he's perfect for the X division.

I made my feelings known about the "regime change" Impact show in the backyard wrestling/Impact superthread... because I felt it belonged in there. They kinda need to pump the brakes on the "EVERYTHING IS DIFFERENT NOW" vibe, partially because TNA did that so many times already (much like doing the world altering surpise announcement that was almost always a disappointment until the next one next week), and partially because the bad was way over the top bad.

However, I will continue to sing the praises of Cody (Rhodes) anywhere I can. And how he can still work in the name (like not saying it into a mic, referring to his wife, the cowbell, etc.) Classic old-school WRESTLING shit. Is he in a feud in every fed he's in? Does he have a different tshirt in every fed, too?

Big Vic 03-22-2017 02:12 PM

Bucks/Hardys ladder match should be good.

Is there an Iconic tag team the Hardys haven't faced? Would like to see them have a short feud against New Day for promo purposes.

Simple Fan 03-25-2017 07:59 PM

Really glad to see Christopher Daniels as ROH World Champion (of the World) but a summer of Dalton Castle as champion could be entertaining. Plus the guy can flat out wrestle.

Hardys vs Young Bucks should be a good match but with the Hardy WWE rumors the result seems pretty obvious.

I'm thinking Bully Ray is going to turn on the Briscoes and join Bullet Club. Could be wrong though, just a feeling.

Cody and Lethal in a bull rope match also should be good. Cody's everywhere these days.

Supercard of Honor is looking like it will be a pretty good show. I think I seen that Marty Scurl will face Adam Cole as well. Been impressed with The Villian for what I've seen of him.

Big Vic 05-31-2017 11:02 AM
