Ruien 10-25-2016 09:09 PM

Frank seems to be mad how casual of a baseball fan I am. :(

Ruien 10-25-2016 09:10 PM

Hell, I still don't know his name.

Evil Vito 10-25-2016 09:15 PM

Wish someone would tell John Smoltz that the word is "height", not "heighth".

Ruien 10-25-2016 09:20 PM

Why can't Lester throw to first base? Does he just not like to do it or does he have some prior injury that prevents it?

Frank Drebin 10-25-2016 09:38 PM

yah. He's got the yips throwing there. Cubs are aware of it. One of the reasons David Ross has 6 pickoffs this year.

Frank Drebin 10-25-2016 09:40 PM

Nobody bunts/steals anymore so this quip of Lester's hasn't been overexposed as much as you'd think. Indians can do both of those though as we saw in the 1st.

Ruien 10-25-2016 09:42 PM

Feels like that is the first legit run of the game.

Ruien 10-25-2016 09:47 PM

Wonder if Miller and Chapman had a convo with each other talking about how happy they were traded this year.

Frank Drebin 10-25-2016 09:50 PM

Maddon with another "cute" decision with coghlan.

Frank Drebin 10-25-2016 10:12 PM

this game is over

Ruien 10-25-2016 10:38 PM

Lol at the Indians center fielder missing the double play.

Ruien 10-25-2016 10:43 PM

Damn. That was insane.

Evil Vito 10-25-2016 10:44 PM

christ Miller is ridiculous

Triple A 10-25-2016 10:44 PM

damn

Evil Vito 10-25-2016 10:45 PM

David Ross had the chance to put himself in the lead for 2016 World Series MVP to go along with his 1908 World Series MVP award.

http://www.tpwwforums.com/images/icons/icon8.gif Wish Miller had been this good during his time with the Red Sox.

Most of the time he was either injured or very inconsistent for quality.

They probably would have kept him if they knew he'd stay consistently good afterwards or Sox pitching not being as bad as it was making him more valuable for trades.

Ruien 10-25-2016 11:12 PM

Seems like the Cubs did a lot of homework on Miller.

Ruien 10-25-2016 11:15 PM

Really think the Indians need this game much more than the Cubs too.

Clerk 10-25-2016 11:24 PM

This ump is on the cubs side and their still losing how embarrassing sucka's

Correct. Cubs have a much better rotation even with Arrieta at 75%. Lose this game and you're down 1-0 looking to Trevor Bauer and Josh Tomlin to stop the bleeding. While both of those guys have certain positives going for them, that's not something to hang your hat on.

Frank Drebin 10-25-2016 11:29 PM

Also, I would have gone lester, Lackey, Hendricks, Arrieta if I were Maddon. I don't trust Arrieta right now.

Frank Drebin 10-25-2016 11:30 PM

Leading up to this, it felt like the cubs are just happy to be here which is extremely disappointing considering they won 103 games. They partied like they won it all when they won the pennant.

Frank Drebin 10-25-2016 11:32 PM

Ball game, maggle.

Gene Tenace was the first player to hit homeruns in his first two WS AB and won the WS MVP in 72 but otherwise he's An outlier on that list too

Another lineup without Heyward. At least it's Soler.

RP 10-26-2016 09:05 PM

Go CUBBIES!!!!!!!

Schwarber what a story.

Evil Vito 10-26-2016 09:15 PM

Joe Buck might wind up performing fellatio on Schwarber before the series is over.

Not sure I'd blame him.

Frank Drebin 10-26-2016 09:20 PM

Trying to imagine a Joe Buck and Joe Morgan commentary team for this.

RP 10-26-2016 09:24 PM

I'd leave Arrieta in the game for 150 pitches if it means a no hitter.

Frank Drebin 10-26-2016 09:29 PM

Should I wear my Andre Dawson Road Expos Jersey or Mark Grace traditional home pinstripes to game 5?

http://www.cubsgearshop.com/598-home...MLB-Jersey.jpg

Probably Cubs gear, right?

Ruien 10-26-2016 09:34 PM

This is why the Indians needed to win game 1.

Damian Rey 2.0 10-26-2016 09:46 PM

Was just gonna say those who said as much were spot fucking on. Their rotation after Kluber is lacking and you can't rely on long relief dominance from your bullpen every night.

Smoltz making a point about Arrieta being in the dugout twice as long than on the mound. I feel like that eliminates pitch countv fatigue. He's just cruising and getting a nice long break to catch his breath.

DaveWadding 10-26-2016 09:52 PM

I can stop holding my breath now.

Damian Rey 2.0 10-26-2016 09:58 PM

Of course I mention that and Arrieta runs outta gas. Oh well. Strong performance.

Frank Drebin 10-26-2016 10:03 PM

Drebin still  u DR2

Damian Rey 2.0 10-26-2016 10:04 PM

Drebin, you handsome bastard.

DaveWadding 10-26-2016 10:09 PM

Shit, that Lindor flip could have been an all time classic.

Frank Drebin 10-26-2016 10:12 PM

I mean, not as sexy as Dave Wadding doing a moonsault off the upper deck during the Arizona Fall League, but nothing will ever reach that level for me again.

Damian Rey 2.0 10-26-2016 10:16 PM

We all have our best moments. I'll take what I can get.

Yup. I'm still feeling good about my Cubs in 5 pick.

Homefield advantage generally doesn't mean much in baseball but Wrigley is going to be absolutely bonkers. The Cubs rattling off 3 wins and winning the whole thing on Sunday wouldn't be too big of a shock to me.

Frank Drebin 10-27-2016 11:42 AM

Lollllllllllllll Chicago Alderman

whiny little bitches

Emperor Smeat 10-27-2016 05:18 PM

MLB announced they are going to review the Indians logo during this offseason due to growing complaints.

One reason is due to the club being split on keeping or dropping Chief Wahoo as a club logo. Management's been trying to push for "C" to be the only logo used but deferred to the players who voted for Chief Wahoo to be used during this playoffs.

poopfromweiner dude 10-27-2016 06:03 PM

What exactly is MLB going to review? Are they going to do polling if somebody is offended or not? What % of the gen pop could make MLB act on something that stupid? What % of real "Indians" need to be offended to address the change...

Well, there was some movement for the Redskins to change their name. Lost their trademarks and Trey Parker & Matt Stone took advantage of that.

The argument resurfaces once in a while. Braves usually take some heat, too. But they've been left alone lately.

Ruien 10-27-2016 07:58 PM

I can't wait for everyone to get up and arms over the Cowboys name in 5 years.

Droford 10-27-2016 08:14 PM

Redskins should move to Boise Idaho.
Indians should move to India.

Problems solved

Does the name itself even have any real negative associations?

At least in the Redskins case, the name itself used to be a slur against Native Americans. With the Indians, its usually their mascot getting the brunt of complaints because of it being seen as a negative stereotype.

Believe most of the complaints against the Braves is more due to the Tomahawk chop and chant their fans like to do than the name itself.

Ruien 10-28-2016 08:31 AM

I have complete faith with this world to find something negative to say about it.

I am offended at the name Patriots. It implies only people residing in New England love their country.

Even if he ran hard from the start it's doubtful.

Ruien 10-28-2016 10:57 PM

Agreed. 90 more feet is a long way. He barely made it to third as it was.

Frank Drebin 10-28-2016 11:19 PM

Damn. Taking pitches over the heart of the plate, swinging at balls in the dirt.

God dammit. Would have marked out for some Baez magic at the 11th hour.

Evil Vito 10-28-2016 11:42 PM

Still...only a 1-0 loss, Cubs bats I think will fare better seeing Kluber a second time. Tough lineup to hold down 2 nights in a row.

Emperor Smeat 10-28-2016 11:45 PM

Ol Dirty Dastard 10-29-2016 11:31 AM

gonna be a longgggg series.

Ruien 10-29-2016 11:55 AM

Yup. Game 1 Indians needed to win. Game 4 though Cubs need to win with Lackey pitching. Going to be an interesting game.

Damian Rey 2.0 10-29-2016 12:35 PM

Drebin was right. Cubs struggle against guys who attach the in the strike zone. Tonight's obvs a must win.

Ol Dirty Dastard 10-29-2016 01:57 PM

I hate how even in the regular season pitching performances are all or nothing. If they give up more than 2 runs by the end of the 6th inning, they get yanked. You barely ever see a guy pitch 8 innings and give up 4 runs or 3 runs in 7 innings. I guess it has everything to do with the 100 pitch limit, but i feel like it's some kind of pussification of starting pitchers.

Emperor Smeat 10-29-2016 02:56 PM

Booze and cocaine being blamed as the cause behind Jose Fernandez's death last month.

This isn't little league. Only hot bats bat in October unless you are Heyward.

Frank Drebin 10-29-2016 09:38 PM

Does whomever win tonight get to have another champagne party?

Frank Drebin 10-29-2016 09:42 PM

Should have sold tomorrow's game. Gonna be cold af and prices are tanking so it almost seems futile to sell. If Indians clinch tomorrow there might be some very drunk and upset cubs fans. More worried about that than I would have been if they'd won.

Ruien 10-29-2016 09:43 PM

Duh? In game 7 you get one for every run you score too.

Frank Drebin 10-29-2016 09:45 PM

Yeah, I thought whenever you took a lead in the series you had one.

Frank Drebin 10-29-2016 09:51 PM

Fav part of the champagne parties are the ass hat employees of the team who have nothing to do with the game but find themselves in the clubhouse for the party and just kinda stand around smiling in their khakis with ill-fitting team apparel on over their business casual colored shirt.

Frank Drebin 10-29-2016 09:52 PM

Here's management's favorite pet, Chris Coghlan. Why is he here and not Tommy La Stella or another pitcher? Fn redundant.

Frank Drebin 10-29-2016 09:57 PM

This sucks. At least it isn't another round of God Bless America.

Frank Drebin 10-29-2016 10:00 PM

Pretty sure RP went into a death pact with some Craigslist girl he met if the Cubs lose.

Ruien 10-29-2016 10:11 PM

How deep is the Cubs relief pitchers?

Frank Drebin 10-29-2016 10:14 PM

Chapman, Strop and Monty are trustworthy at this time. Rondon usually is but isn't now. Grimm had gone up and down but is up right now. Travis wood would be a situational lefty right now. Overall good. They made their big trades this year to strengthen the pen since that was their biggest weakness early in the year.

Ruien 10-29-2016 10:25 PM

Damn, that's a lot of relief pitchers who are good with Lackey coming out early.
