Oh snap. Ryback will get the championship pretty soon and then it will be Rock vs Ryback at the Royal Rumble.

Emperor Smeat 09-30-2012 04:21 PM

If Ryback refuses, then I guess Matt Hardy would be next. Probably could out-eat the Rock and Ryback right now if he wanted to.

Still think they can totally get away with CM Punk holding the WWE Title until the Royal Rumble next year. It will be something like 435 days as WWE Champion for Punk, which would be pretty huge. It'd beat John Cena's longest reign, and move CM Punk into some pretty uncharted territory. Even if they decided to put the WWE Title on The Rock, then it would be a pretty fucking huge deal if he was unseating CM Punk who had held the title for so long.

Mr. Nerfect 09-30-2012 07:58 PM

Also, Hell in a Cell is a pretty perfect time for Dolph Ziggler to cash-in Money in the Bank.

I'm guessing Truth turns on Kingston after their match and PTP end up losing to Rey/Cara setting up a Rhodes Scholars vs Rey/Cara finals, which should be terrific.

This.

Ever since they first started teaming, I always got the sense that Truth would turn on Kofi as soon as they lost the Tag Team Titles. He just worked so well as an unstable heel last year, and he could put over Kofi in a pretty solid way.

I'm pretty sure they will put Marella/Ryder over Kidd/Gabriel, just because Marella/Ryder are so fucking over, but I do wish that they would give that one victory to Kidd & Gabriel, since I think they could use it. They would make great guys to put over this heel alliance of Slater, McIntyre & Mahal.

"Still"?

Did something happen to change that because I'm pretty sure that's what the general consensus is as far as what's going to happen.

Mr. Nerfect 09-30-2012 08:21 PM

Most respectable posters around here that I've seen have actually said things like there is "no way" Punk has a continuous run heading into the Royal Rumble.

Mr. Nerfect 09-30-2012 08:23 PM

Objectively speaking, does anyone here think that Sheamus vs. Del Rio deserved a Hell in a Cell Match to end their rivalry? It could have been a decent way to give Del Rio that "one last shot" against Sheamus, and put the Celtic Warrior over strong. You could have had Big Show return after the match and leave Sheamus laying, before Dolph Ziggler comes in and cashes in Money in the Bank.

#1-norm-fan 09-30-2012 08:23 PM

I do hate that Rock is likely gonna take the title off Punk though. Not just for the obvious reason. But also, you've built up this incredible reign that hasn't been seen in decades and the guy who finally takes it from him is... The Rock? Rock winning the title again is big enough. I don't know when we'll see a reign like this again. It's a chance to make a huge moment for someone and it's gonna go to a guy who's already way more over than anyone on the roster.

Mr. Nerfect 09-30-2012 08:27 PM

I agree with you. I'd have Punk win and rub it in John Cena's face post-match. "I beat the man who beat you." Have Cena win the Royal Rumble and lock in Punk vs. Cena again for WrestleMania. Yeah, they've had a few matches lately, but it is MAGIC whenever the two work together. You can maybe have The Rock squeeze his way into their issues, and Punk is all "I'm done with you, Dwayne" and Cena is all "We have unfinished business, Rock," and Punk is all "This isn't about you two -- this is about me!"

If Punk heads into Mania with his current reign intact, he'll have crossed over the 500 day mark as WWE Champion.

Mr. Nerfect 09-30-2012 08:28 PM

Punk would get the most out of a WrestleMania win there, too. Why not let this run go and see where it takes you? Punk vs. Ryback sometime next year could be massive given that Ryback remains winning and Punk remains WWE Champion.

#1-norm-fan 09-30-2012 08:32 PM

Punk vs Cena absolutely should not be the WWE Title match at WrestleMania. It's "magic" but it's "magic" that has been given away at Night of Champions, Hell in a Cell, Money in the Bank, SummerSlam and even RAW...

It's no longer a WrestleMania main event.

Mr. Nerfect 09-30-2012 08:38 PM

I guarantee you that Punk and Cena would be able to sell it as a main event.

#1-norm-fan 09-30-2012 08:48 PM

It would draw like it drew at Money in the Bank last year... or last year's SummerSlam... or the Raw the week after SummerSlam... or last year's Hell in a Cell... or Raw 1000... or Night of Champions... or this year's Hell in a Cell...

Not WrestleMania level at this point. Especially on their 8th, possibly more match in the last year and a half or so.

#1-norm-fan 09-30-2012 08:49 PM

Seriously... it would be at least the Eighth time they would have faced in the past 21 months. How does that scream "WrestleMania main event"? You'd be following Rock-Cena with a match that main evented Night of Champions among 6 other shows.

I could see it being a Wrestlemania worthy match but only if the end result is Punk finally gets cemented as the top star and clearly ends the feud in his favor.

Every big match he's had with Cena always enters with the match having the status of the defining moment/match only to have the following RAW having a promo by Cena or someone else claiming it wasn't but the next one will be.

Even then, at this point, it's not gonna come off as "the final showdown". It's not like either has given any hint of their career coming to an end soon. It's just gonna come off as the 8th installment of Cena-Punk... and a ridiculously huge let down after Rock-Cena last year. If Rock and Cena had faced seven times going into last year's match, do you think the 8th installment would have been WrestleMania worthy?

Lock Jaw 09-30-2012 11:20 PM

I agree that they shouldn't do it for this year's Wrestlemania, but if they make Hell in a Cell their last encounter, and keep them away from each other after that....

I could easily see Cena/Punk headlining a Wrestlemania down the line.

#1-norm-fan 09-30-2012 11:25 PM

I could see it at some point down the line if they go their separate ways. I think Punk needs to keep himself entrenched in that scene with Cena and Rock though. If they have him lose the title and he spends any time doing nothing and just kind of existing while the perceived "real main guys" go at it, kinda what a lot of newer guys end up doing after being pushed, it would be a huge blow to his character.

WWE officials are reportedly very high on NXT star Bo Dallas, brother to Bray Wyatt and son of WWE Legend IRS. The feeling is that he's excellent in the ring but needs some major work with promos.

Source is F4WOnline
I assume this means in the near future he's going to become the main focus on NXT.

Personally haven't really liked him on NXT and think Bray Wyatt is a lot better of the two brothers.

#1-norm-fan 10-01-2012 02:59 PM

It's not even close. If Bo Dallas becomes a major player before Bray Wyatt, wrestling is definitely broken.
