I have enjoyed the few matches I have seen from Steen. Seemed like a solid "heavyweight" type. He also wasn't entirely reliant on being a "spot monkey", and he also showed personality.

El Generico losing his mask and being renamed as Sami Zayn has made him more appealing to me, and I do look forward to seeing him on the main roster in the future. I'm not really a fan of "indy guys" bringing their "indy thing" to WWE. :-\ As for Steen, I don't know what it is, but there's something about him I don't like. He reminds me of Rusev though. Just the fact that he only seems to have two facial expressions, judging by his photos. I do think though that Steen could benefit a lot from getting a different look. Right now, he just looks like your stereotypical "neckbeard" wrestling smark. Maybe lose the beard and grow his hair a tiny bit more. I do hope I'm proved wrong though about these guys, as I actually like it when I'm proved wrong when it comes to the "indy darlings" being signed by WWE. It's happened with CM Punk, Daniel Bryan and Cesaro. I had heard all about them during their time in the independent scene, and when they arrived in WWE, I just thought "meh", but they all won me over and now I love all three of them. I'll just have to wait and see what these guys are like in the ring. |

I dunno, I don't think CMLL is an indie promotion. Pretty sure they are considered a major promotion, just on smaller level than WWE. Might actually be bigger than TNA though.

Kasssius Ohno was an Indy darling who didn't make it. Cool King doesn't watch NXT so he probably never saw him, though.

CMLL is not an indy promotion. they have out drawn the fed within a matters of days when running near the border in the exact same buildings. AAA as well.

They're a "Big Indy" in real terms. They've no global market. Doesn't Devitt work for one of the big Japan companies? You'd still class him as an Indy guy.
