No Flash series or other any superhero in the same universe as Arrow.

Keep everything grounded.

Kalyx triaD 07-30-2013 07:25 PM

They're not having that conversation. Barry's appearing in Arrow, his origin may take place as soon as this season. It's happening.

Now how do you suggest they handle his signature ability?

DaveBrawl 07-30-2013 08:12 PM

A really fast Segway.

Lock Jaw 07-30-2013 08:17 PM

The suit's worse than George Clooney's Batnipple costume.

Kalyx triaD 07-31-2013 12:40 AM

I like the Clooney better in general, since I always thought that Flash suit was overly buff.

Batman, Incorporated ends today, as does Grant Morrison's seven-year run on the Bat.

I predict, like most Bat-things Morrison writes, it will end with a whimper rather than a bang (Final Crisis, Batman RIP, etc).

Lock Jaw 07-31-2013 01:34 AM

Disliked most of his run. Loved what other writers were able to do with the status quo he created, though.

slik 07-31-2013 01:39 AM

I would agree with that statement.

I'm really enjoying Scott Snyder's take on the bat so far, I hear Tomasi's stuff is often outstanding.

slik 07-31-2013 02:21 AM

I think Grant's problem is he doesn't follow thru on anything he writes. He introduces twists and new plot developments and tends to leave them as is. I heard Kathy Kane was revealed alive in Batman Inc. I imagine nothing will come of this.

Final Crisis for all it's hype, ended up being dull and was way overshadowed by Blackest Night and Flashpoint. Batman RIP promised 'the most shocking moment in Batman's 70 year history,' and ended with Batman disappearing in the Gotham River in a helicopter explosion.

For everything I enjoy, such as the explanation for Batman's wacky adventures in the 60's and Bat-Mite, and the existence of Damian, there are all the things Grant starts and never resolves, like Dr. Hurt, Damian making a deal with the devil, the entire storyline of Mandrakk the Monitor, etc.

I was reading an interview with him where he discussed his take on Wonder Woman and I caught myself going 'oh, that sounds interesting' and then remembered it was Grant Morrison and it will go absolutely nowhere with any form of resolution, just ideas thrown up all over the place.

Lock Jaw 07-31-2013 02:32 AM

Yeah, Snyder and Tomasi have both been doing great things

dronepool 07-31-2013 03:29 AM

Batman Incorporated I'll get it next week. I loved Grant's run. I just dropped Snyders book in issue 22 or something, it's not bad I just don't care anymore and I'm not interested in the recent arc one bit.

So yeah, no more DC books for me until Multiverse or whatever Grant is doing.

Damian Rey 07-31-2013 10:10 PM

I have loved Snyder's run. The Court of Owl's was really good. Loved the Joker arc, and, while building slowly, the current Zero Year run is promising.

Kane Knight 08-01-2013 09:27 AM

Amazon's advertising the Kindle versions of all 66 issues of the Flashpoint series for .99 apiece temporarily. Don't know if the series is any good, or if people here even use the kindle app for comics reading, but there it is.

Reavant 08-01-2013 12:04 PM

If you havnt been reading the injustice comic... get on it

Lock Jaw 08-01-2013 12:06 PM

Does it require the game to "fully get"?

Reavant 08-01-2013 02:08 PM

nope... in fact the game spoils some of the twists

Lock Jaw 08-01-2013 02:23 PM

Reading up on it. Apparently it is a prequel to the game? So I will never get a complete story unless I buy the game. Nuts to that.

Reavant 08-01-2013 02:43 PM

ugh... yes its a prequel, but one you can watch the cinematics of whats going on in the game on youtube, and the story is awesome

Kalyx triaD 08-01-2013 05:13 PM

Awesome's a strong word.

Lock Jaw 08-01-2013 05:17 PM

I do hear good things about the comic. Though if I am not gonna get the whole story, I don't want it. I will see if they adapt the game story once they get to that point.

have you been reading the comic?

Kalyx triaD 08-01-2013 08:33 PM

I seen the entire story of the game, which I figure you were referring to, and I wouldn't call it 'awesome'. Me and the guys did find it hilarious, though.

I read a few pages of the first comic issue. Not my cup of tea. I mean, while it may make for an interesting videogame we're talking narrative threads that's been done to death in the comics and at least three times in the DCAU alone. I'm straight.

Reavant 08-01-2013 11:00 PM

read more than just the first couple pages of the digital comics

Kalyx triaD 08-02-2013 12:35 AM

I don't owe any story more than the initial pages that should have hooked me to begin with. Even that was me being generous since I think Injustice is kinda ass anyway.

Lock Jaw 08-02-2013 12:52 AM

Come on bro, most comics can't hook you in a few pages alone.

Fignuts 08-02-2013 02:34 AM

I'm with Kalyx. I enjoyed the Injustice story for what it was , but its nothing special IMO.

At this point, I'm getting a bit sick of alternate reality stories. And I'm a guy who used to love that shit.

Which is why I don't read most comics. In fact I said before how most my consumption of comic characters come from every media but comics themselves. It takes something badass to make me sit down and deal with wacky continuities, the worse art in years, and silly stunt arcs. I. Am. Straight.

2001-2009, for me, was a great time to read hero books. I still have original prints of Superman/Batman with the Ed M. art. I have Ultimate Spidey number 1. A gang load of Transformers by Dreamwave before they folded. But at this point I'm good off that. Cartoons and movies for me.

Fignuts 08-02-2013 03:22 AM

Worst art in years? I believe you're thinking of the 90's.

Kalyx triaD 08-02-2013 03:32 AM

No reason to count back that far. The art from the time I was buying every month is way better than now, save for the occasion event story where a great artist gets to work. Saying it's better than the 90s is a cop out. Everything is better than that period.

Fignuts 08-02-2013 03:33 AM

Honestly, over the past 10 years, the art work has been one of the best things about comics. It's a big part of what got me back into comics in 03'.

So many distinct, yet recognizable styles. Feel like there were a ton of books in the 90's that looked like the artists were just phoning it in. Like the art in the 3 musketeers advertisement was better than the art of the actual book.

Dunno man, I've seen no drop in quality in the industry as a whole. Maybe the books you were reading switched to artists you didn't appreciate as much, but speaking as someone who has a massive pull list, there is just as much great art now, as there was in 01'-09'.

Kalyx triaD 08-02-2013 03:42 AM

Perhaps I could be swayed, but that's still one gripe out of two. I can't keep up with Marvel and the New 52 can go fuck itself.

Fignuts 08-02-2013 03:46 AM

Marvel is easier to follow, but by biggest gripe is how they never commit to anything.

Fignuts 08-02-2013 03:56 AM

Like why the fuck should anything matter when the status quo is going to be reset to default anyway.

I mean they still manage to tell some great stories, but there's potential for hundreds more if they would just stick to their guns.

Did any one give a shit about Scarlet Witch's return to the avengers recently? Does any one here even know about it? Imagine if they would have committed to her as a villain. Just this psycho reality warping, galactus level threat, for like 10-15 years. Her redemption could have been the event of the year, and in the mean time, you e got a truly scary threat for the marvel universe.

That's just one example. There have been countless others.

Kalyx triaD 08-02-2013 04:11 AM

I remember tearing in to that before.

Fignuts 08-02-2013 04:25 AM

I also loved the way she "attacked" people by disassembling them into thousands of puzzle pieces. Was a really cool looking effect. Would have liked to of seen her do that to more heroes over the years.

There's also the potential of her teaming with her brother after his fall from grace. Another lost opportunity.
