what happened to abadon are they letting her contract expire or is she hurt.
|
Has she been on dark or elevation at all? I don't watch those so I have no idea.

That’s where we’re at. There definitely is a “cult”-like contingent of the AEW fan base, just like there was with ECW (yeah, yeah, why am I comparing?). It goes with the territory; they’re taking on the behemoth, it’s David vs. Goliath, you find it with pretty much every sport, and in many facets of life beyond. Thing is, there’s a contingent of WWE fans that are very much the same (but we don’t talk about <s>Bruno</s> that so much). The thing is, if these “AEW Tweets that ALWAYS bring up WWE” are so ubiquitous it should be really easy to use one as a starting point/further evidence to your point. But you haven’t done that. You’ve doubled down, then tried to move the discussion in a different direction. That’s what you’re taking flack for. It’s not “AEW fans closing rank”, nobody has “taken offence”, it’s your inability to go “yeah, do you know what, that tweet I used didn’t actually provide an example of what I’m talking about, bad example. Here’s a bunch that do.” It’s very similar to what Noid does, which is why you get lumped together; seemingly always trying to have the “last word” as if that means you “win”, and a complete inability to just reflect on the words that you have said. |
Really weird that he keeps bringing up "AEW cultists" to help his argument when none of those people post here.

aew is the best wrestling organization of all time

yea, you can't name one better
even their third show, dark elevation, is better than any of that attitude era nonsense, and especially better than any of that 'territory' bullshit |

Some quotes from the interview:
“As far as have I been reached out to, legally it's not smart for me to answer that question but what I can say emphatically is that there is an absurd amount of interest in me. Tony Khan knows that. Tony Khan claims he's not afraid of that and that's good, so I hope you're not afraid to shell out a lot of f*cking money." “I genuinely love WWE programming. It's great. There's so many charisma machines on that program. I think it's a great show. They had a makeout competition this past Tuesday; gripping television. How could you not like a makeout competition?” MJF is outstanding. |
0% chance MJF goes anywhere.

By the way, Defender Dave is reporting that this story is true. His damage control consists of him saying that they’ve sorted it out and didn’t have a physical altercation (lol wtf?), but if Dave is conceding that the story is essentially true and it doesn’t make AEW look wonderful? Well, make of that what you will. It’s UNLIKELY this leads to MJF quitting tomorrow or whatever. That wouldn’t be a smart move even if there was legitimate interest in going to the WWE on his end (despite his recent jabs). But there appears to be smoke to this fire. If, how and when that kicks off remains to be seen. |
It’s a work brother.

"They had a makeout competition this past Tuesday; gripping television. How could you not like a makeout competition?”
dude is dead serious FOR SURE also funny to constantly talk about how out of touch meltzer is then namedrop him as a source here. |
There is apparently a significant push amongst the women’s locker room to sign Toni Storm.

I really don’t know if my penis could survive Toni Storm vs Jamie Hayter.

But the content of it is not even the point. The dispute is. Allegedly it is about money and whether or not he should have approved the interview in the first place, and whatever has fallen out from that. Different things. And yeah, Meltzer is out of the WWE loop and is kept in the dark about AEW like a mark. But if EVEN he is reporting truth to it and it makes them sound like a mess people are going to scream “work!” about, then it’s like your own doting mother testifying against you on the stand. It’s about the only time you should take her testimony seriously. |
Doesn’t mean it’s going to lead anywhere! But given the mess AEW is and how there are way more politics going on there than people think—I actually believe the core story. TK and MJF got into a bit of a tiff that is probably about way more than one incident. Can they sort it out like big boys? Of course. But it doesn’t mean there wasn’t a tiff and that one or both parties are going to get more and more frustrated.

Oh man you know what today is! Huge debut on Dynamite tonight boys!
|
I really need a huge debut to fill out the roster!
|
Well whoever it is will have their first match tonight vs THE BUNNY!
|
PS I'm calling Ember Moon or Athena or w/e she will go by in AEW.
|
Very possible. Her and Storm are the two safest bets.
Wild card possibility is Nixon Newell/Tegan Nox but she seems pretty well snakebitten with injury. |
Imagine if they pulled a legit shocker and it was Tessa Blanchard.
|
Suppose Mia Yim can't be ruled out either via her being married to Keith Lee but she seemed sloppy in most of her NXT run so kinda hope it's not her.
|
It will be all of them. Toni, Moon, Nox, Kim, they will ALL debut, and get paired in other random faction. Kim and Moon join Keith Lee. Toni Storm will join JAS. Nox will join with Nyla and Vickie. They will all be all time record breaking debuts. Dynamite will get an extra 35,000 viewers. In three weeks they will no longer be the 4 newest signings, as Tony will add at least two more new people by then.
|
Athena should be Deonna’s opponent at Supercard of Honor and be saved for that. Whoever else can be Bunny’s opponent in AEW.
|
OH SHIT!!! Fan is gonna be PISSED! People aren't allowed to get annoyed at AEW needing to talk about WWE all the time!

“I know MJF is frustrated about his contract. Wants to be paid more and that’s just the long and short of it.
There are a lot of people who have come in after him and are getting paid way more” - Sean Ross Sapp on the matter. When the Khans first got into wrestling, I thought we could be moving towards a “post-Vince world.” What I didn’t have the foresight to comprehend is that there is a downside to TK having these resources. And this is why Vince has historically tried to keep a lid on what he pays guys — you can’t pay a bunch of guys $5 million then expect to get away with paying other guys chips (comparatively). Tony’s also paying these guys enough money that they won’t need him. They’ve got enough money after one cycle to retire, or even go somewhere else that pleases them more or start their own thing. The only reason these large contracts was justified in the beginning was to secure the stars to get the platform to generate the attention to attract the revenue. You don’t have forever and a day to do that before the guys you are paying so much ask for more money, the guys underneath ask for more money or the guys making money to be invisible decide to go back to fame or do their own thing. Or decide they just don’t want to take bumps anymore. We don’t know what happens when talent asks for their release in AEW. Is TK going to play things like Vince? Is he going to be able to standup to guys telling the truth about situations on Twitter? Is he going to be able to fight to keep guys locked into contracts they want out of? Interesting times ahead. More interesting than the actual content. |

Fuck yes!
(Haven’t kept up with him in WWE. Can he still go or is his body tapping out?) |
He can go. And he promo, which is half the battle if not more.
|
He has been plagued with injuries though
|
Starting to find it hard to like Tony Khan, he's got such a "booker boner" for himself. He has to sneak in at almost every press conference that this was "the best PPV yet/of the year/all time/ever/etc"...
Last night saying that his ROH show is maybe the best ROH PPV of all time after jobbing the entire OG roster to his AEW guys... which on some level is fine but maybe he could have thrown someone a bone in that regard. He also said that he's capable of booking both ROH and AEW and tonight is proof. He said he will listen to peoples ideas but it's his show and he writes it. He said you can only listen to so many ideas that he gets pitched about 100 times a day and you can't please everyone. Which is true I get that. Just don't come onto a presser and bitch about things like a little shit millennial and try to take some inspiration from the guy who invented the business and incorporate some stoicism into your character. Still, the ROH roster presented last night is fantastic and I am excited to see the first slew of shows to see if I will be a regular viewer or not. I think there is a chance for sure that I can get back into ROH. |
Tony is a fucking asshole lol. I think he has enough money to keep things afloat and keep his company going as the "workrate" company. But the happy family vibes of AEW are just about on their way out with all the contracts coming up. Suddenly, it's not going to be "the place to be" it was for the WWE refugees.
|
I can't help but fill in my own narrative to the events we've seen take place at AEW with the EVP's and Tony. Clearly, it would seem that Cody had very strong opinions and likely a bit of resistance to Tony's ideas or vice versa. I can see that Tony probably cooled off on Cody as a real leading player after the TNT Championship angle with Brodie Lee.
Cody hung on for another year after that, bouncing between outside projects and decent but not main event storylines in AEW. He is a main guy, no way should he have been relegated to less than. Hoping that Regal, Danielson, Punk, Jericho, The Bucks... Daniels ... somebody can get the respect of Tony to get some influence on him. |

Cannot care about anyone signing with AEW.
|
yeah we know
|
Tony is a double edged sword. A real life wrestlenerd long time Observer subscriber EWR & TEW player, he still watches Thunder and Nitro repeats on Peacock for fucks sake.... I mean one one hand that's cool that we have someone who loves wrestling so much.
And because of that passion and love he has put on some incredible cards because he's bought some of the best talents in the world. So it's working in a big way. But the way it's not working is that he's a fucking dweeb with almost zero cool about him and comes off like the biggest loser ever. |
I don’t think Tony being a nerd is a good thing beyond him wanting to fund it. I’d rather have someone capable running the #2 so actual good can come of it.

I think JR is gone when his deal expires. I think he’ll want to call more Austin matches and be in the more polished environment. Danielson? There’s enough to keep him busy for his 3 years, but it’s got to be annoying when you want to do the best thing for wrestling and you just end up doing the Cha-Cha Slide on loop forever. I can see him and AEW reaching an “amicable” split at some point.
|
I wonder what would happen if guys like FTR and even MJF asked for their releases?
|
It's easy to assume there are issues because of the way that Tony behaves but likely most of the main roster in AEW is happy. It's the ones that have lost their shine that are probably a bit uneasy. But I'm sure their getting paid and generally can still work other promotions.
|
There may be plans in AEW, but there is no vision. If you just want to go to a place and wrestle and don’t care about the quality of the show around you, sure. Or if you don’t mind sitting at home for weeks on end while still getting paid. That too.
|
Toni Storm was doing an interview/signing and she was completely off her face. For those wondering why WWE washed their hands of her.
|
So I’m pretty sure JR is going to leave, unless WWE just whiffs on making him any kind of offer, but another name whose deal is coming up soon is Jon Moxley.
It might seem likely he re-signs with AEW given his dissatisfaction with WWE while he was there, and how much “freedom” AEW allows him, and how much he seems to value that. But a lot has gone on in his life, and there has been evidence of cracks that lend possible credence to the rumors that the relationship isn’t perfect. And if you look at his booking right now — he’s getting to do something he would “love,” but they’re pushing him alongside someone so if he does leave, someone else has been benefitting from that TV time too. WWE may have a way better chance at bringing back Dean Ambrose than people think. Roman Reigns is going to need opponents. Or maybe he signed an extension yesterday? But that will be an interesting situation. |
