Rogue one - 8.5/10 loses points for lack of character development, but everything else was good. plus, finally the death star flaw is explained.

But yeah, it was a pretty lousy film. The only reason I watched it was because my nephew wanted to watch it.

I had no idea that was her when I watched Elf, as I'm so used to seeing her with dark hair.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 10/10
|
Passengers - 8.5/10 - Not usually a huge fan of many outerspace/sci-fi movies, but this one was excellent. Perfect "date movie" with just enough story, comedy, action and romance to appeal to pretty much anybody
And Jennifer Lawrence is hot as shit..... |
Spotlight
2/10. Such boredom!! |
Spotlight - 8/10

Sing 3/10 ... just drivel

10 Cloverfield Lane 7/10 (the wife did not like the ending)

Star Trek Beyond-7/10
Not as compelling as Into Darkness but it's a fun 2 hour episode. Villain origin was pretty creative and the movie as a whole was a blast. Don't think it did well box office wise, but I hope it's not the end of this casts run. Really have enjoyed the new movies. Hope there's more. |
It's good. Good n fun. Which is ok I guess...I dunno. I'm not as big of a fan of fast paced never ending action Star Trek than a slower, more thoughtful one.
They still need to do stuff with the Klingons/Romulans though. Have to have a movie centered around them before you can come up with am excuse to involve the Borg. |

Oof
|
Convoluted, too many plots, lousy pacing. I get why it's getting trashed in the reviews and bombed at the box office. But I wanted to give it a chance.
Better off reading the book. |
Bye Bye man 1/10....can I give it a 0? It was just awful.

Penner from Survivor wrote and directed that :(

Superman Returns-5/10
A boring, uninventive, suffocated slog that tries too hard to pay homage to the previous films so much that it fails both as an extension of the original 2 it's supposed to follow and a platform for future movies that could've been. The actors, Routh especially, are so bogged down in trying to playv an actor playing a character that it comes off as a high budget fan film. The recycling of plot, motives, lines, and assumptions in knowing the source material going ruined this movie. As much as I disliked Man of Steel, I respect that it very much tried to pave its own way as a new direction for its title character. Returns just apes the original and isn't even fun in doing so |
Trainspotting - 7/10

Captain Fantastic - 8/10

Cinderella.
5/10 There's a lot to be explained from my upbringing. |
Thank you Mr. One Ball.

The Shining 6/10
Maybe back in the day it was amazing but found it overall meh Carrie 5/10 See above. The revenge part was pretty sweet though. |
Captain America: Civil War - 4 out of 5
|
dawn of justice - 6/10
it was fun i guess. can't understand why he didn't give that spear to wonder woman instead of sacrificing himself like a dumbass. good think i watched on the pc. could skip emotional bullshit like supes conversation with his dead dad. if i watched it in the cinema the rating would have been lower. |
Children of Men 5/5

I watched Hackers for the first time last night and it was funny seeing the imaginary visual side of hacking. I guess it was Science Faction if you could call it that. Kinda reminded me of The Net and Johnny Mnemonic, ExistenZ and all those other dodgy yet awesome techno-net films nobody really admits to watching back then. I also saw Spotlight and despite it being a very good film, solid performances across the board and very well researched it is no Best Picture. People will forget it existed in a few years and in a few decades it will be on lists of least stand-out Oscar winners ever. That is a big budget daytime movie dressed up. Lastly The Internet's Own Boy is excellent. I knew next to nothing about Aaron Swartz but this kept me involved all the way through. Give it a go. |

Damn, you watched that even with the dog abuse that happened to create the movie? |

The Founder - 4.5/5
|
I watched "Rising Sun" with Connery and Snipes which was fairly awful, "Down In The Valley" with Ed Norton which was pretty fantastic with a bit of a crap ending and "Deep Blue Sea" with Saffron Burrows and Sam L Jackson because it's just class.
I keep buying movies for a pound from the charity shop. Some sucker priced Con Air on Blu Ray at £2 so I had to buy that too because what sort of a man would leave it there? |
John Wick: Chapter 2 - 10/10
Everything I loved about the first movie was done better in this one. I will say, the first bit of the movie is a little too samey as the first, but after a little bit it definitely feels like its own movie. Loved it. |
Sold!

Last movie I saw OK 6/10
|
Finally sat down and watched The Last Samurai and I have to say it was the tits. It was a little corny how much they played up the "way of the samurai" as a noble thing but the action sequences were tremendous. I even held my breath a few times but that may also be down to the flu. I'm going to go on a Tom Cruise jag and pick up Magnolia and a few others.
|
I remember absolutely loving The Last Samurai when I saw it...... and I kept meaning to buy the DVD to watch whenever..... and I think I almost did a few times....... but then for whatever reason I never actually did, and I don't think I have seen it since that first time that I watched it. Which is really weird considering how much I loved it at the time.
|
I watched the documentary The Wolfpack tonight. Wow man... That was something else. Half the time I spent in awe of these guys and how amazingly well adjusted they were considering their awful upbringing and the other half I wanted to shoot their parents for causing their fairly obvious social issues.
It is ultimately a lovely inspiring film but it will piss you off if you have any compassion. |
The LEGO Batman Movie - 8/10. Was enjoyable. Not as good as The LEGO Movie, but some pretty funny moments/lines and also some "poignant" Batman moments.......
|
The Lego Batman Movie - 5/10 - Honestly, I thought it would be more like the Lego Movie... but I understand that I am probably not the target audience.
This should have been a direct to DVD movie. |

|
John Wick Ch. 2 5/5 ....it was fun, the first one was good and I thought this one was better!
|
Lego batman - 7/10
It was very well done. The tone was identical to the first Lego movie which was good but kind of wore on me a bit. Feel like they tried to hammer home the singular message too heavily (but it's mostly a kids movie so understandable). Some of the cameos were great |
Lego Batman - 6.5/10 - Some great inside Batman jokes, graphics are pretty amazing and could only imagine how great it would have looked in 3D.
|
Arrival 9/10
A little slow in places but very deep. Brilliant twist that threw me for a loop. |

Storks-3 outta 10
Got outvoted when we went to rent movies at the Redbox. This would have made a great 10 minute Tex Avery short or even a decent 30 minute short film. But stretched out to almost 1 1/2 hours it is just bad. Inferno-0 outta 10 When they told me they rented Inferno I thought they had gotten the Dario Argento film. Nope it was some Tom Hanks bullshit Davinci Code drama. Hanks sucks in dramas and hasn't been worth watching since the late 80s. Born Losers-7 outta 10 No this isn't a documentary about Merc's life story. It is the first of the Billy Jack movies. Pretty decent for a late 60s biker movie. But not nearly as good as Billy Jack. |
Inferno was better than 0 out of 10 but it was objectively the worst da Vinci code film. They should have made a film version of the lost symbol instead.

A Cure For Wellness
7/10 Really wanted this to be a 10/10 because it starts strong. Visually it's really awesome. Gore-wise it's pretty good. Reminded me of early 90s gore. Narratively it stumbles halfway thru and keeps stumbling on and off. It should have been 30 minutes shorter and the story tighter. |
"The Abyss" gets a near perfect 9/10 for being exhaustingly brilliant. I have never physically held my breath so many times whilst clinging to the edge of my seat before.
The cinematography is out of this world for an 80's film... Probably because this film innovated more or less that entire style of film. I read a bit of background on this and it sounds like everybody nearly died filming it. Ed Harris should have won an Oscar for this. I very nearly burst into tears during a particularly emotional scene. Fuck me I love this film. I watched the Special Edition with an extra 24 minutes restored because if I'm going to watch a movie I want it to be the one the director intended. Cutting this film is understandable but foolish given that people will sit through a 3 hour film quite contentedly if it is good enough. |
LMAO at reviewing a Billy Jack film by the way.
I've heard Billy Jack referenced in a couple of films (Yes Man was one of them)but I've never seen any of the movies. I imagine I would like them a lot. |

The Great Wall . I'll go a 7/10
|
Kung Fu Hustle 10/10
I have seen it before about twelve years ago and I just watched it again today. It would be hard to pin this film as any one genre because as far as I can tell it has elements of Kung fu, comedy, romance and it's done in almost a comic book style with cartoon elements thrown in for fun. This is a perfect film. |
Carmen: A hip hopera 10/10
|
Ghostbusters 2016: 3/10
Ive said before it takes structural failure tongo below a 5. This movie was broken on half a dozen levels. Im really glad there wont be more. |

Jerry Maguire 7/10
I have "Lions For Lambs" left to go in my Cruise binge. I may watch "Valkyrie" again first. |
"L'Homme Du Train" 10/10
One of the best foreign films I have ever seen and I have seen a fair few. I just don't know what else to say. |
Finding Dory 7.5/10
Was perfectly average..... on the whole felt like an "unnecessary sequel", but it wasn't "bad"...... Doesn't even come close to Finding Nemo, though....... |
28 Days Later - 8/10
Saw it for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed it. The Overnight - 2/10 It has a very good rating on Rotten Tomatoes. I did not enjoy the film at all. |
"Come and Find Me" - 7.5/10
Aaron Paul was really good. Thriller, sort of noir, sort of Hitchcock, sort of beautiful but I did not like the last 10 minutes of the film. |
"Get Out" - 9/10
Best horror film (so far) of 2017. So good. Recommended to everyone. |
Get Out - 4/5
|
Superman 2, Donner cut-8/10
What a great movie. I'd never seen it. A lot of what I wish was done in Man of Steel with Zod was done here, with Zod getting to earth and feeling his way around before causing havoc. Also liked that we saw them after they escaped. Chris Reeve is so damn charming in this film. His bumbling self deprecating Clark, heroic then helpless Supes, was all so well done. The role cast, really, was spot on. Really loved it. Had a very marvel vibe to it in being whimsical but also with high stakes and escalating circumstances. My only gripe is the ending. Zod and co just kinda die, but the bait and switch was great. |
Lego Batman Movie-8/10
Really funny. Ran a little long but I enjoyed it as well as the little jabs and nods to the other films. Score was pretty good, too. |
Wanda Nevada, with teenage Brooke Shields and Peter Fonda. 1/10
Really bad acting and the worst gun fight in movie history. |
Hacksaw Ridge - 9/10
As good as any war story i can think of |
Logan: 9/10
I was hoping for a 7. Absolute home run. Took 17 years but the finally made a good wolverine adaptation |
Doctor Strange - 2/5
Maybe just a notch above Iron Man 2. Not one of the better Marvel movies. |
Logan: 9/10
Was good. |
Table 19 - 7/10 - Great date movie. Anna Kendrick sexy as hell
Before I Fall - 5.5/10 - Average, hated the ending. |
