Move is so White Sox. They need to do a massive rebuild and they spend a huge chunk of cash on a Cuban hoping they get another Puig. Even if he is, does that team really compete for anything in the next few years?

Wasn't much of a real bidding war for him by teams. Of the three teams he had left, Astros only offered in the $50-$60 million range while the Red Sox went even lower at $40 million.

ClockShot 10-18-2013 03:57 PM

So, what does mean for Paul Konerko? I know he's a free agent when this season is over. But's like an institution on the North Side.

Think he leaves?

Adder 10-18-2013 05:11 PM

DH?

maybe this guy doesn't even make the team.

I didn't read too much that said he was a phenom.

At the least this gives them all the leverage they need to have him retire gracefully or accept whatever the team throws at him. I don't really think they want him back, but they want to avoid a PR nightmare. White Sox fans love Paule and would be less than thrilled if they pushed him out the door. Not saying that isn't an option but its not a road they really want to go down.

so the Cards are gonna be in the World Series again.... ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

SlickyTrickyDamon 10-19-2013 01:01 AM

Oh shut the fuck up. Who gives a fuck if the teams in the championship are "boring" this isn't entertainment it's sport.

Cards and red sox? No one really wins even if they are the best pound for pound teams. Didn't care much about the Dodgers other than I would like to have seen the new ownership rewarded for sinking lots of cash into the players. Same with the tigers. If they don't win in the next couple of years contracts like Fielder have the potential to crush them for years.

weather vane 10-19-2013 04:24 AM

Red Sox got this!

Skippord 10-19-2013 04:54 AM

Cardinals are mint, bruh

weather vane 10-19-2013 06:01 AM

Hi boyfriend

Skippord 10-19-2013 09:40 AM

Sup baby?

The Condor 10-19-2013 12:23 PM

Think what kills me about the Cards is that they have won just as much, if not more than the Yankees and Red Sux the past 13 years or so, yet are still treated as a Midwestern, "that's cute" type of team. East Coast teams get no such treatment, they would be labeled as some sort of "Empire."

weather vane 10-19-2013 02:28 PM

Thats cause they are gay.

Damian Rey 10-19-2013 03:15 PM

It's because the Cards create a their own success. How many key free agents do they really nab on a yearly basis? They draft and develop ridiculously well, and don't spend boat loads of money on their roster. They are unlike any team that made the post season. Mid market team that does everything right.

Wish the Padres would become the "Cardinals West".

I'd assume them not really being a big market team nor spending the huge sums of money every year to "buy championships" are a few reasons. Rarely crack the top 10 in payrolls during those years.

They win a lot because they've been really smart with putting together teams and having great luck than being an actual powerhouse in the NL.

Frank Drebin 10-19-2013 08:37 PM

They let their premier player go in free agency a couple of years ago, and wound up getting better. That right there says a lot. It's also their ability to not just develop guys, but bring them up at a time when their skills fit the team needs. For a competitive team, its not only developing all stars, but solid regulars like Kolten Wong or Jon Jay.

DaveWadding 10-19-2013 09:10 PM

And also developing perennial scrubs like Pete Kozma.

Supreme Olajuwon 10-20-2013 09:12 AM

I will root for Boston because they have Jonny Gomes and Jonny Gomes is a peach.

On that play, why didn't Victor Martinez just truck Dustin Pedroia when he stepped into the basepath? That's legal right? Would've broken up the double play and allowed the run to score.

Jim Leyland resigns as Tigers manager but won't be leaving the team entirely.

ClockShot 10-21-2013 05:04 PM

Tiggers ain't gonna be the same without him.

Quite the job that just opened up. Unless the front office already got someone in mind already.

Innovator 10-21-2013 05:06 PM

Fuck. I love Leyland.

road doggy dogg 10-21-2013 06:34 PM

Already rumours of Dusty Baker coming to Detroit :nono:

ClockShot 10-22-2013 08:44 AM

Reds are naming team pitching coach Bryan Price as their new manager.

Emperor Smeat 10-22-2013 03:26 PM

Dodgers fired bench coach Trey Hillman while Mattingly sort of gave an ultimatum of either they extend his current deal or get rid of him as well.

ClockShot 10-22-2013 04:27 PM

The option vested for him. By right he should be back.

I don't know what Magic & Co. is doing besides waiting on the beach with a dump truck full of money for the Cuban defectors who land.
