Actually, pretty sure next week's Rams/Seahawks game decides the NFC West even with the loss today.

I actually want the Seahawks to win next week so a 7-9 team can get in.

parkmania 12-26-2010 07:03 PM

So, why exactly weren't T.O. and Chad Johnson playing today?

TOs out for the year, Chad's inactive today with some injury. DUNNO

Evil Vito 12-26-2010 07:04 PM

Pretty sure the entire coaching staff is gonna be gone after this year. I like Coughlin for the most part but I can't argue firing a guy after 2 collapses in a row.

Bring on Cowher.

You get two. If you don't win both, that's it.

If you win both, you get a 3rd.

parkmania 12-26-2010 07:08 PM

2 challenges per GAME unless you win both of them, then you get a 3rd. That's it. That's the list.

It's funny because in theory, today's game meant nothing for the Seahawks outside of momentum. It only helps their draft seeding.

parkmania 12-26-2010 07:09 PM

Also, you can't challenge if you don't have a timeout.

owenbrown 12-26-2010 07:09 PM

Current Playoff Standings and seeds:

AFC
East - Patriots #1 seed
North - Steelers/Ravens (division winner takes #2 seed, loser takes #5 seed)
West - Chiefs (#3 seed if Jags win South, #4 if Colts win South)
South - Colts/Jaguars (division winner is #3 or #4 seed, loser is out of playoffs)

Jets locked up #6 seed.

NFC
East - Eagles (Ranges from #1-#3 seed)
North - Bears (Ranges from #1-#3 seed)
West - Rams/Seahawks (division winner is #4 seed, loser out of playoffs)
South - Falcons/Saints (division winner is #1-#3 seed, loser is #5-6 seed or out)

Currently Saints hold #5 seed, Packer hold #6 with Giants and Tampa Bay on the outside.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Meanwhile, 49ers owner will fire the head coach and might not even wait till after next week since he gave a "no commitment" to Singletary.

Johnny Vegas 12-26-2010 08:24 PM

I would just like to say that Tom Brady will be playing until he's like 45 years old. The guy never gets hit, doesn't throw the ball THAT deep so his arm isnt being overused, and teams will still want him at that age. I was about 14-15 when he started, and i'll be about 35 when he's done. Wtf lol

SlickyTrickyDamon 12-26-2010 08:27 PM

Well, I have ended the TPWW Fantasy season with a strong victory. I ended up outscoring the team in the championship match :). In the end I was 5-8 in the Regular season and 2-1 in the Consulation bracket. So, I end up in 9th place but the Nexus will return next year and will do much, much better!

Johnny Vegas 12-26-2010 08:29 PM

And another side note: The Houston Texans are the biggest letdown to me this season. I know their defense isn't all there, but god damn.

CSL 12-27-2010 02:03 AM

Mike Singletary fired. Shame but not surprising.

CSL 12-27-2010 02:25 AM

Also, these celebration flags/penalties are bordering on parody now.

Evil Vito 12-27-2010 09:56 AM

lol @ Peyton sliding instead of running it in for the TD. It's the Brian Westbrook situation all over again, same week too.

Good football move obviously. Guarantee more than a few people are gonna lose their fantasy championships (and possibly money) because of it though. I could actually be one of them. :o

Innovator 12-27-2010 10:29 AM

Coughlin is done if the Giants don't get in the playoffs. Shame cause he's done a great job but someone has to take the blame for the collapses.

Evil Vito 12-27-2010 10:40 AM

Yeah. And if Coughlin goes, I hope the entire coaching staff is sent packing also. Let the new coach bring in who he wants.

Of course that won't happen. Quinn is the only coordinator who is definitely gone. Feel like ownership has a hard-on for Gilbride, and I see Fewell sticking around if only because they don't want to make the players learn from a 4th different defensive coordinator in 4 years.

Ermaximus 12-27-2010 10:56 AM

Hey hey, ho ho, Jack Del Rio's got to go.

Gene Smith, please draft some Safeties and CB's next year. Grab a QB too while you're at it. Kind of don't even want the Jags to make the playoffs now as they'd just get embarrassed by the Ravens.

OssMan 12-27-2010 11:12 AM

Here is something that has bothered me for a while actually and will not be changed until it costs a team a game. You get two challenges and if you get them both right, you get a third one. If you use that third one and get it right, then you're out of challenges. So if the refs fuck up again and make a terrible call, you're screwed. I'm not sure if a team has had the need to use a fourth challenge, but I feel like it will probably happen in a big situation. If they would just change the rule now it could be avoided altogether.

Innovator 12-27-2010 11:32 AM

Yeah when you get your two challenges right, you should be able to keep challenging until you lose one.

SammyG 12-27-2010 12:03 PM

Can't believe this. Week 17, primetime game in Qwest. OMGGGGGGG, for a PLAYOFF SPOT.

Kris P Lettus 12-27-2010 02:55 PM

Big game tonight, lads..

They don't want the game stopped all the time to check calls. The system seems to be working alright as it is right now. It benefits people who call challenges right, but doesn't give them a totally unfair advantage.

I remember when my friends and I went to a bowling alley and the scoring machine was broken. Somebody kept getting strike after strike and we let him go on until he stopped because we didn't know the rules without the automatic scorer since we usually played Candlestick bowling.

Since the machine was broken we didn't know how many games we were playing or being charged for. So, we ended up paying for way more games than we thought we played. I guess the machines worked to count the games at the paystation but not at the alley boo.

Amazing how they beat the Bills.. No one would have ever expected that..

Emperor Smeat 12-27-2010 03:06 PM

ESPN is predicting as high as 12 head coaches are going to be fired once the season ends or almost 1/3 of all the coaches in the NFL. So far just Minnesota, Dallas, and SF fired their head coaches.

*ahem*

You forgot Denver.

Emperor Smeat 12-27-2010 04:43 PM

Yeah ended up forgetting about them when looking at the list of coaches ESPN was reporting could be gone.

That makes it 4 fired during the season with another 8 possibly gone once the season ends (and maybe all of the intern ones to make about 16 total fired or released).

Kind of crazy how 2 divisions could drop 6-7 coaches (AFC South only keeping Colts and NFC East only keeping Eagles coaches, Dallas could get rid of Wade and the intern).

I hope Gilbride gets the axe. I wouldn't mind if Coughlin stayed, but Gilbride has to go. He is so predictable. Fewell is alright. He has games where the scheme works, and others where it seems that he is being out coached.
