Not news but not something I thought someone could do at E3:

Oh, something about a new XBox too. "Neat" I guess. |
Minecraft's servers have been hacked by lulzsec, if ya'lls care.
|
Here's hoping this coming generation addresses hardware failure rates. Blowing dust of a cartridge is a minor inconvenience. Having to send in a console for repair and either deal with atrocious customer service or pay out the ass for shipping/cost of the fix is ridiculous.

lulzsec also attacked Eve Online, which is a game. What a bunch of jerks.
|
The MS console is probably going to be rushed out to compete with Nintendo and beat Sony. Sega reckon the U will be out by spring/summer next year and this new XBox will probably be Winter 2012.
|
God I hope not... But Microsoft probably has it in their head "First out = Winners!!!!"
|
So, if that's the case, the next Xbox will be out January 2012?
|
I don't believe Crytek's supposed "release" for Wii U. And it's Microsoft, I wouldn't be surprised if that actually happened.
|
With all the news of Sony probably not going all out on a PS4 like they did with the PS3, I wouldn't be surprised if MS went all out on their next console since they still have a huge chunk of the original $18 billion they set aside for the Xbox brand when they first announced the original Xbox.
Sony can't do the same since they can't keep tossing around money while their divisions keep declining profits-wise and already decided to do another "eating" the losses this time with Vita to compete with Nintendo and Apple. Quote:

Hasney's been linking to his Dtoid posts for a while now.

I think Sony can afford to wait until 2013 for the PS4. This time they just need to be sure they've got a decent launch lineup with some good exclusives. Gimme a new MAG, Resistance and LBP at launch and I'm sold

News to me. I don't pay much attention to things in the VG forum though. I just happened to see it on dtoid. |
Bungie launches their Bungie App today and also stated it was the start of a bigger project as the studio continues its transfer away from the Halo series with Microsoft and 343 Studios to their new project with Activision.
Even though neither Bungie nor Activision revealed anything about the current project called Destiny at E3, Bungie did confirm the game is still on schedule and in development. Bungie's app as of now only keeps track of stats in Halo Reach but the studio revealed it will be expanded more over time and is part of their current attempt to expand into the mobile market for both games and apps. Bungie plans to treat their new app the same as they do with their Bungie.Net website with constant news, updates, and special stuff every once in a while. Bungie's other current project called Bungie Aerospace is expected to be revealed in detail during this year's Bungie Day festival during June 23 to July 7. http://media.giantbomb.com/uploads/9...en1_middle.jpg http://www.giantbomb.com/news/bungie...hing-big/3373/ ----------------------------------------------------------------- Quick News Round-Up: 1) EA reveals it will be opening its own retail stores for their EA Sports games following Apple, Microsoft, and others who have opened up their own dedicated stores. 2) THQ shuts down HomeFront's developer Kaos Studios as part of their recent layoff and reorganization plans. THQ is moving the series to their THQ Montreal studio after also closing down their THQ UK studio. 3) Valve expands the Steam store to include Free-To-Play games with five titles set to launch when the newest addition to the store is ready. The five games are Spiral Knights from Sega, Champions Online from Cryptic, Global Agenda from Hi-Rez Studio, Forsaken World from Perfect World, and Alliance of Valiant Arms from NHN. |
This an XBL Indie game but it looks more like a proper XBLA game.

Sony could be in huge trouble with the Japanese government and possibly the US government/FBI after the Japanese report showed Sony knew even earlier than originally revealed that their databases were hacked and information was stolen.
Sony's original stance was they had no clue when their servers had been hacked and if any information was compromised. Sony even considered just ignoring telling PSN users their email and passwords were taken if the attack didn't also go after the actual credit card and other sensitive personal info on the servers. In a move that might have fueled the potential EA-Valve digital distribution war, Crysis 2 and other recent games published or developed by EA were taken off of Steam today.
This move contradicts EA earlier statements saying they would not be removing their games from Steam but work as a partnership of sorts along with their own Origin service. EA also later updated reports of the removal by trying to blame Valve for the sudden removal of the games but EA also showed they have no intention of reuploading the games at the moment. Quote:
Valve and Crytek haven't responded to the removal but it is assumed Crytek's games were removed without their knowledge or permission. http://media.giantbomb.com/uploads/0...itv5_super.jpg http://www.giantbomb.com/news/crysis...-updated/3382/ |
Sucks for them. I won't even touch EA's shitty download service. Honestly, I pretty much only buy through Steam.
What about games that have been purchased already, though? Can you not redownload them? |
If you bought the game and/or DLC before it was taken down then like any other digital distribution service, it is still re-downloadable.
The stuff itself is still on Steam's servers but they can't activate the links for new buyers similar to when a company closes down and Steam no longer is allowed to sell the game for legal reasons. Any future patches or DLC for the games wouldn't be downloadable using Steam though. |
Forgot how sweet installing games were. Quite Xbox, quick loading times. Did MvC3 just now, will do Reach and Battlefield tonight.
|
I always install my games before I even play them once. Right now, I have MvC3, Duke Nukem and, I think, Portal 2 on there.

A Spanish retailer website reveals Devil May Cry series from the PS2 is preparing to be joining the recent wave of PS2/PSP games remade as HD Remakes or Collection sets.
The HD set is being done as the 10th year anniversary of the series and will include the first 3 games in the series with only updated graphics being confirmed. No bonuses or gameplay changes are expected to be done similar to all the other HD remakes and collections with the exception of the Metal Gear Solid set. Based on the source, the set should arrive this November and as of now only for the PS3 but neither the source no Capcom confirmed if it indeed is an exclusive or if the Xbox 360 will get the set at a later date. http://fastcache.gawkerassets.com/as...06/dmcpack.jpg http://kotaku.com/5812491/devil-may-...hd-re+releases ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Quick News Round-Up: 1) Bioware becomes the newest gaming company to get hacked as an attack on their serves resulted in around 18,000 accounts info being stolen. The attack occurred on Bioware's community server for their Neverwinter Nights forum. 2) After firing their external Public Relations firm and denying they are not blacklisting reviewers who give bad scores to Duke Nukem Forever, Eurogamer has confirmed 2K Studios indeed is blacklisting companies with themselves being on the list. 3) Microsoft officially releases the Kinect SDK or dev kits for sale to capitalize on the "hacking" stuff being done by people using the non-gaming features of Kinect. The only catch is as of now the kits are not for commercial usage but Microsoft is planning on removing the restriction in the near future. |

HD DMC3? Cool.
|
Def gonna grab that DMC collection when it hits 360.
Sony's gonna have to do some major damage control. Weeks after the hacking and bad news is still coming out. :nono: |
I don't think 360 will get lucky on this one. DMC1-3 were PS exclusives, it wouldn't be much to HD-up those PS button icons. Making 360 button icons for the re-releases seems unlikely, especially since Capcom's been penny pinching lately. It's a good thought, though.
|
A few of the planned or already released HD remakes/sets have been placed on brands the originals were not done on.
Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath got only a PS3 release even though it was on the Xbox original before and the Metal Gear Solid set including the Xbox 360 when the originals were PS2 exclusive. The biggest difference though is those games are expected to have some changes while most of the HD remakes are just quickly made upscale games like the God of War PSP set for PS3 or the Tomb Raider set. |
Speaking of HD collections. The reason MGS1 isn't on the MGS HD collection is because it'll take too much work to bring it to up to the standard of the other games graphically and they'd have to change details to make sense with the rest of the series. So, it's too much work, apparantly.
|
People purchase PS1 games on PSN all the time and even 80's arcade games on 360. Konami are just being stubborn, I'm sure barely anyone would complain if the game was there in it's original (or Twin Snakes) form along with the 3 other games.
|
I was thinking they could use Twin Snakes since it still looks good. Then again there's Nintendo references in there, could be a problem.
|
I always meant to buy Twin Snakes and I never did. Would have been good to get it on the collections.
Surely removing an object from a games code, to remove the Nntendo stuff, wouldn't be that big a problem time and money wise, right? |
Twin Snakes is well worth buying and blowing the dust off your Wii for. Fantastic game.

It's £25 from CeX. Plus, I need a new GC controller and maybe a memory card if I can't find my other 2. So it'll come to, maybe, about £40.
I'll probably get round to it eventually. |
I'll just leave this here

Nintendo confirms Zelda will not be getting a collection set to celebrate its 25th anniversary. They are still planning on celebrating the anniversary year long with other stuff but no actual collection set will be made.
Quote:
:( I was actually looking more forward to this being done than the Mario one once Nintendo hinted they wanted to do a special set for Zelda's anniversary. That one and Skyward Swords were going to be the main titles I wanted to pick up this Fall. |
