It irks me how they keep referring to it as "Royal Rumble" and not "the Royal Rumble".

Rammsteinmad 01-31-2017 04:27 PM

Thank fuck my life's priorities are in check.

Big Vic 01-31-2017 04:28 PM

Has anyone been released by the WWE more times than Jannetty?

Ol Dirty Dastard 01-31-2017 04:46 PM

What's more impressive is how often he was re hired

HBK had a couple good years in his 40s

Is Roode in the same conversation as HBK?

In this conversation, he is.

Cynick brings up a good point. Rhoode is = HBM

Glad we settled that

I think he is the exception that proves the rule! They need to get Roode up now and stop wasting time in developmental when Smackdown is crying out for guys.

Mr. Nerfect 01-31-2017 07:30 PM

Roode doesn't seem to fit in NXT because his gimmick is too big for it. In my opinion. I think he should be in Kevin Owens' position.

Honestly after seeing Owens go up against Braun last night I really wanna see him get a babyface run. I think the dude could really pull it off. Unfortunately I feel like RAW is too busy now to fit Roode in, and even if you somehow found a place for him there you'd still have to find a way to turn Kevin and get Roode into that spot without it coming off as extremely forced. Personally I think the most natural place for Roode on the main roster would be Smackdown.

Mr. Nerfect 01-31-2017 07:54 PM

Right now RAW would be bad for Roode, but right not is not great on SmackDown either. Unless you have Roode destroy Dean Ambrose and then face John Cena for the Intercontinental Title at Mania or something. Not that thrilling and steps on a few toes, since they don't have much planned for Styles at the moment either.

Mr. Nerfect 01-31-2017 07:55 PM

I'd like to see Seth Rollins vs. Samoa Joe for the Universal Title at WrestleMania now, with Triple H working as Joe's manager. The odds of this happening? HAHAHA no, but I think that's a match for that belt that I'd actually like to see.

not talking about your post specifically, but this is the dumbest fucking saying ever.

Mr. Nerfect 01-31-2017 08:00 PM

I used to think so, until you work out that exceptions being exceptions actually do prove the widespread applicability of rules.

Mr. Nerfect 01-31-2017 08:48 PM

The Undertaker looked like shit at the Royal Rumble. :( Roman Reigns is a bad visual match for him.

DAMN iNATOR 01-31-2017 09:10 PM

So, just wondering, are we going to see Asuka make her main roster debut before WM 33 or will it probably be @ or after the biggest show of the year? Any consensus opinions or anything? I think she could add yet another much needed boost to the SD! LIVE Women's roster, but am afraid they are probably going to waste time with her and wait until Mania or after for her to debut, possibly dropping the belt to whomever at NXT TakeOver: Orlando.

Turned 40 in 1989
Flair vs Steamboat wrestlewar 89(Voted match off the year)
Flair vs Sting Starcade 89
Flair wins the 1992 Rumble
Flair vs Savage WM 8
Flair vs Vader Starcade 93
Flair vs Steamboat Spring Stampede 94

So a couple highly respected matches til he was like 45. Past that middle to late 90s WCW wasn't really conducive to Flair having good matchrs..

Emperor Smeat 01-31-2017 11:57 PM

Maluco is sort of right about not relying on older wrestlers as your main source for high profile matches at least in a modern WWE sense.

Historically it used to be the real big pushes and money making moments didn't happen till your late 30s but almost no company had as tough of a touring schedule as the WWE especially in modern times. Way too much wear & tear from it which affects older wrestlers a lot more.

WWE's current trend for high profile matches to be a lot more high tempo and hard hitting also does no favor for older guys without needing to go in the part-timer route. Not even Cena is immune to this which is why he's been more of a part-timer in recent years because the wear & tear started to affect him a lot.

Doesn't mean older stars can't produce great matches anymore but your going to be very limited on how many they can produce before breaking down (ex. Sting) or need long breaks (ex. Taker) in the WWE. Roode being 40 means his shelf life for top quality matches is going to be small and same goes for Nakamura and other older stars from NXT.
