After years of arrogance and demeaning ad campaigns and practices; eat it, Sony. I can't begin to feel sorry.

Ubisoft reveals its new MMO game currently in development from their Ubisoft Shanghai studio called Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Online.
The game will be free to play but also offer the ability for micro-transactions for those who want more from the game at a cost. Ubisoft did not reveal what or how much the DLC stuff will be. Gameplay-wise, the game will play just like any other Ghost Recon game with the usual 3rd person perspective, tactical shooter with the biggest changes being class-based multiplayer to go along with upgradable weapons and abilities. Ubisoft is planning to add more classes in the future but as of now the closed beta will only be 3 classes. Another Ubisoft goal is to provide constant content either by special organized events, game updates, and customized stuff based on the community's feedback. The current plan is for the closed beta to arrive this summer with the actual game coming late 2011 for the PC. http://cache.gawkerassets.com/assets...ering_fire.jpg http://kotaku.com/5804532/tom-clancy...ly-this-summer ------------------------------------------------------------------ Sony misses another target date with the PSN restoration as PSN Store misses its initial relaunch date with the excuse being another "maintenance." Sony did stress that they never had a date set in stone and still are pushing for the vague "before June" as their goal. |
Terraria is out and is totally awesome. It's a 2D sprite-based Minecraft but with a million more things to do.
Last night we tunneled to hell, managed to get some lenses to summon the Eye of Cthulu and killed him to get some demonite. Then a meteorite hit, taking out the corruption. All for $10 on Steam! http://www.terraria.org/ |

Cool and everything but I wish you played as Rockford from the NES version. The human miner. |

Your character is also persistent between single and multi-player, so all the kit you have carries over. |
Ubisoft reveals based on box art for a brief time on Xbox.com that Ghost Recon Future Solider on the Xbox 360 will have Kinect controls and is seen as the better version of the game.
It is assumed Kinect will be incorporated for hand signals to go along with voice in giving commands and head tracking to move the camera. The game has been in a few delays and now it appears this was due to the last moment addition of Kinect for the Xbox 360 version. Ubisoft was not willing to launch the other versions until the Xbox 360 version was done. The game still is listed as TBA late 2011 to early 2012 for PC, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, DS, and PSP. http://cache.gawkerassets.com/assets...con_kinect.jpg http://kotaku.com/5805566/will-ghost...er-with-kinect ---------------------------------------------------------------- Quick News Round-Up: 1) Nintendo Power leaks that a new Shinobi game from SEGA is currently in development for the Nintendo 3DS. 2) Twisted Pixel holding a closed beta for Ms. Splosion Man open to any Xbox Live user as long as they fill out an application request form and have a Gold account for Live. The beta will only be available for 1,000 people and lasts from June 6 to June 24. https://connect.microsoft.com/site1241 3) The Witcher 2 is rumored to be arriving on the Xbox 360 and should be announced as a console exclusive during Microsoft's E3 conference. |

That's a shame, because I was hoping to play The Witcher 2 on PS3.

and this: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/e...8-d35c013c3b97 See if it works then. If not, then grab this: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=MBCL8TKC |
Got it working... Apparently there's this bug which stops it from working... Had to change my audio options to get it to work. Just lost 5 hours to this game, took me ages to get the hang of it, just built a concrete house with a pit room next door for easy access to deep caves :). Building the house took long enough, stupid fucking flying eyes and zombies.

Sweet! And I know what you mean. Started playing properly on Monday and logged 14 hours already.

If you're wondering about the new 360 console update, here's the details.
* Reflashes the DVD drives : PLDS DG-16D4S, PBDS VAD6038 and PLDS DG-16D2S, to a new stock firmware : 0272, 04421C, 02510C. * Table and anti-piracy 2.5 scheme updated. * Support for the new XGD3 disk format for games, adds 1GB of usable disk space and extra anti-piracy features to new games (This may not be compatible with some older Xbox 360 SKUs, e.g. those with Lite-On drives circa 2009, which require a console replacement). [2] * Adds a new 1 hour Auto-Off setting in addition to the 6 hour Auto-Off setting previously available. * Adds PayPal support as a payment option for all Xbox Live users, except Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Czech Republic, Finland, Greece, Hungary, India, Japan, Russia, Poland , South Africa, South Korea and Taiwan[3]. * Avatar Kinect. Allowing players to scan their face in real-time to match with their avatar. * Adds multi-language voice commands for Kinect. (French and German confirmed.) * Minor bugfix. |
EA has decided to charge for the web-based online parts of Dynasty and Road to Glory mode in the upcoming NCAA Football 12.
This is also seen as the start of a bigger plan by EA to include more micro-transactions in their sports games beyond their current DLC stuff. EA had been planning to start charging for game modes and extras for a while but waited to decide which game to use as their "test." The one time fee of $3 per mode will be strictly enforced in online leagues due to everyone needing it or else the league can't progress. Also being charged is the Super Sim mode for online leagues that will allow the league to sim games for players who can't play on certain weeks as a way to prevent the entire league schedule from being held up. EA's is blaming the rising costs of their sports games development along with "competition" as the reasons for the sudden charging of modes and also confirmed this idea was in the making for a long time. EA failed to mention how their current practice of charging for cheats and other stuff in their sports games has generated lots of money. The worst part of the news is EA took what the community had requested for additions and features and then decided to charge them as extras instead of using it to improve the game for everyone. This news along with Take-Two potentially dropping its MLB and NHL franchises adds more power to EA's stranglehold on the sports market. http://cache.gawkerassets.com/assets...mp_jpgcopy.jpg http://kotaku.com/5805720/new-featur...ree-in-ncaa-12 |

Amazon's deal of the day is WWE All-Stars fightsticks. Pretty much the same as the SF4 sticks just with different artwork and they're now $60.
They've got the pads at $30 if you prefer. |

As long as it's as deep as the other games, I have no problems with it.
|
If it's a FB game, I can't see it being all that deep. The idea of FB games is to be easily accecable, playable in short bursts, simple.
I can't see us having to adjust the education budget or look at the crime or pollution rates. |
Well then there's no point.
|
Facebook games are supposed to be simple to use and enjoyable in quick bursts as well as being sociable.
Simcity as we know it isn't exactly simple and enjoyable in quick bursts, is it? They'll strip the depth away so everyone can jump right in. If they have SimCity FB and a proper SimCity 5, I'd be fine with that but it sounds like it will just be a Facebook game and nothing more |
I like SimCity enough to play it as a Facebook game. Surely they kept most of it's elements, I think you could fit most of SimCity's mechanics on a browser...
|
It's not a question of fitting it on a browser. Can you really see the same audience that enjoys Bejewled and Farmville willing to put in the time to play SimCity decently?
If they don't strip it down, I can see that audience try it, find it too dull, slow or complex and ditching it. |
Maybe it could be one of those things that deeper the more involved you get. Like Tetris.
Doesn't matter, they're probably make building railroads a micro-transaction. |

First set of details regarding the upcoming Ninja Gaiden 3 was revealed in the recent Playstation Magazine.
Tecmo's plan for the game include allowing more accessibility for newcomers while keeping the game itself hard enough for Ninja Gaiden fans, expanded multiplayer for up to 8 players, and a lot more blood and gore than in previous games. The PS3 version will have Move support but no news on if Kinect will be a part of the Xbox 360 version. Quote:
The game is still set for a TBA date and as of now only Xbox 360 and PS3 versions were hinted at having the game. http://bulk2.destructoid.com/ul/202056-header.jpg http://www.destructoid.com/ninja-gai...d-202056.phtml -------------------------------------------------------------- Quick News Round-Up: 1) SEGA is porting House of the Dead Overkill from the Wii to the PS3 and confirms the game will be remade in HD, contain bonus missions, and PS Move support. 2) Problems on Steam's side of The Witcher II has the patch not downloading correctly while the game itself tries to reinstall itself when updating. CD Projekt has confirmed the patch itself is only 20 MB in size and not the 9 GB Steam tries to download. 3) Sony again moves the relaunch of the PSN Store from "before end of May" to now June 1st at the earliest due to the recent "maintenance" announcement by Sony. |
