WWE has had Austin the whole time. He just hasn't wrestled. Which at this point, isn't something I can imagine being very good. Will be cool to see him walk down the ramp at mania though.

I actually enjoy Buddy Matthew's work, but he's another guy that AEW didn't need to sign. Their roster is bloated enough that if they are going to sign new talent, it needs to be people that stand out. Brody King and Keith Lee were good gets in that regard. Buddy, as much as I like him, is not.

Buddy Matthews is just spot, spot, spot. Maybe he’s changed radically, but last I saw him was a Rumble pre-show match where KENTA was easily the guy who stood out. I think Matthews would suit New Japan and be a good underneath guy there they could elevate if they become desperate for gaijin because Ospreay and White leave.

In the US scene he best fits ROH and/or Impact, I think.

Big Swole is going to earn her second Tony Khan meltdown badge. Yeah Dustin is cringe posting. Trying to decipher his intent behind the posts I'm thinking that he's attempting to "prove" to Tony Khan and the other EVP's that he's "cool" with them and "please don't make me leave too I don't like WWE".

I am going forward with the story that Cody and Tony and the EVP's can all co-exist together and even have a good time when the situation calls for it. But the hard lines that Cody has for himself and his growth weren't really on the table moving forward at AEW because of the big names coming in.

It makes sense. Cody's gotta go back to WWE and prove himself as a main eventer so he can come back to AEW and be a "real Champion". It's like no matter where he goes he's just not "the top guy" even if he was writing the show himself!

Yeah this keeps coming up in my mind when I see Christian cutting a promo for Lucha Express. It bothers me. Christian is a guy who will sink or swim based on how he's pushed to be perceived by the audience. He's super easy to get over as a nasty heel but as a babyface you really have to treat him well week by week so that his connection with the audience is fresh.

It's frustrating because Christian wants greatness in wrestling and he's capable of it but also he's capable of coming off boring when he's not in any kind of specific story that is interesting.

The only way out of this story right now is Christian eventually turns on the Lucha Express and has a nice feud with Jungle Boy to "get him on that next level". It's just frustrating in AEW sometimes. They have so many really amazing former WWE talent that can do really cool fun matches with a lot of former indy talent, just so many matches we've never seen that would be fun. Often times tough they are booking a level below that though and we get a Danielson vs Moriarty, probably not the best example because that match was really good. But what I'm saying is wouldn't you have rather seen a Danielson vs Chris Daniels match, or vs Pac, or Penta, or Malakai or Andrade or The Bucks or Brian Cage or Archer or Jay Lethal I mean the list goes on of interesting matches that people will be interested in. It may not always be an interest level that hooks the casual audience but AEW can always hook that wrestling nerd audience and that's their core.

In think they like to keep a lot “in the back pocket”. I’d guess Christian vs. Jungle Boy is probably the destination but you’ve got to let it “cook” for a bit if you want it to have impact. Same with the Danielson thing, they could put on all those matches but they can also keep them tucked in the back pocket for when they “need” them. Seems like they like to sprinkle a couple of matches on each show to get the audience to tune in, might be they need to start working at that “next level” if they want to get that audience above the million more often.

Dustin has to keep sucking up to Tony because unlike his brother who kept it classy, this idiot went out of his way to bury WWE every chance he could.

I think the roster is big enough and they have few enough hours on TV to go ahead and start booking on that higher level. They shouldn't be juggling 350k viewers each week, keep them hooked.

Think this is my favorite take on that matter so far. Andy I think you’re right. I could easily see Cody getting a world title run in AEW in a heel or face run. But not anytime soon and prob not for quite a few years with how the current roster is set up.

Hangman likely drops it to MJF, who maybe drops it to Wardlow. That’s prob a good 1.5-2 years worth of booking given they’ve booked every champ with an at least 6 month reign. And even if Cody stayed and got a world title win in 2 years, you can’t predict what his fan support or momentum would be.

I’ll add that I really do wonder if Cody was dead fucking set on being a babyface instead of embracing the heel role the fans wanted. And that maybe that’s where things broke down and Cody decided to money on a bigger stage for a company that groomed him and is in desperate need of babyface main event talent.

If that was the reason, that’s another bummer. I like heel Cody.

I think maybe the point of signing Christian was to have him wrestle semi regularly and build him up for programs when needed. I do think we get Christian v Jungle Boy at Double or Nothing, which I think would be the 1 year anniversary of JB eliminating Christian in the battle royal, where JB’s current push started.

I’ve low-key thought the video game is going to be a major moment in the history of AEW. They’ve sunk a lot of money into it. Potentially, it could switch a lot of people onto AEW. BUT…

I’m of the opinion that Kenny Omega is an actual idiot. You can hear it as he talks to fans, or about Shibata’s headbutts or in his wrestling choices. But I figured he might actually know video games. But secretly I’ve always been suspicious he’s got no clue what he’s doing.

He’s just released a new interview talking about the game. It sounds…messy. A lot of non-information about it just being designed to be “fun.” And he basically outright says that it won’t be able to compete with WWE 2k in terms of graphics. I’m getting major Homer designing Herb’s car vibes.

Also, what the hell is the roster going to look like? AEW’s roster never stays static enough for it to be accurately represented in a game.

So far, the game seems to play like the old school N64 wrestling games (No Mercy, WCW v NWO, etc.). If that is actually the case, that aspect alone will be enough to be a very successful game. Those games worked well because they were easy to play, and very fun to play.



Nintendo has shown that graphics are not the desire of every gamer, not even close. Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild, for example, looks "okay" but not "good" by today's standards, or even when it was made.


In terms of it being compared to WWE games...... if it does indeed play like the games above, it will destroy any game WWE puts out. 2k22 is looking like "more of the same" with a few changes. In my gamer opinion, they shit the bed by only scanning a portion of their roster. When you have someone who has been scanned vs someone who hasn't, its is blatantly obvious and makes the product look worse.
