They're good bets.

Blitz 08-11-2011 11:31 PM

If true, with all those schoolgirls in, I feel like Xiaoyu would be a pretty solid bet for Tekken.

Drakul 08-14-2011 07:24 AM

A new version of the game will be at Gamescom this week and we'll get more characters revealed. US media needs to learn its Gamescom, with an "m" at the end. Everyone in the Us keeps calling it Gamescon.

Imagine if the "twist" was that they included pretty much all the characters from both games. No one said there was a cap on how many they could have and they say they have free reign to do whatever they want with whoever they want.

I looked it up and both series have around about the same number of characters (the high 50's). I'm not saying I think it'll happen but it would be cool.

Kalyx triaD 08-14-2011 10:59 AM

I'd think they'd wait for a sequel to get numbers like that, if it went past one game.

Drakul 08-14-2011 03:55 PM

English site is up.

Hugo looks great.

Wont mind giving Kuma a try out either.

Drakul 08-15-2011 12:46 PM

Some think you can see the next SF to be revealed next to Ibuki at about 3:19. It looks to be Elena.

Edit: 2:26 = Every ranked match in SFxT, guaranteed.

Kalyx triaD 08-15-2011 12:53 PM

I'm just waiting for the 4plyr confirmation.

Blitz 08-15-2011 11:38 PM

Ibuki and Raven <3

Funky Fly 08-18-2011 10:58 AM

Bear farts are vicious, apparently. Digging Raven being in this.

Boomer 08-18-2011 03:38 PM

I'd be floored if Xiaoyu didn't make it in. My heart wants Lei to make it in too.

Street Fighter, they can pretty much do what they want. Bison will always be in my heart, but we haven't seen a ton of charge characters yet.

Funky Fly 08-18-2011 03:49 PM

Hoping for Bruce Irvin, Eddy Gordo and Bryan Fury to make it in.

And for all the Eddie/Christie haters: not everyone is a button masher. You don't believe me, ask Figburt. He's a fair bit better at Tekken 6 than I am, but he's played me enough times to know when I'm mashing buttons under pressure and when I'm coming at you strong.

Kalyx triaD 08-18-2011 06:51 PM

I love Christie. They are not button mash friendly.

Our final two questions were about different game modes and online play. On the topic of cooperative, four-player tag teams, like in Mortal Kombat, or a one-on-one game mode without a second character, the only thing Ono could say was, "Wait unit Tokyo Game Show." With regard to online play, he assured us, "You're not going to see less [online features] than in Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition," and you might see some new additions as well.
If/when they confirm a 4plr mode (and even a 1v1 mode), this will easily, easily replace UMvC3 and SSF4AE as my main Capcom fighter. I care more about this than the roster reveals.

Drakul 08-22-2011 08:07 AM

Judging by the way the character page on the site is set up, some people are thinking we could have 10 more characters to be revealed.

Kalyx triaD 08-22-2011 12:39 PM

That could easily be adjusted but ten more characters seems about right as well. Five more tag teams....

Drakul 09-01-2011 10:12 AM

A blurry shot from Ono, possibley showing a new character.

http://media.eventhubs.com/images/20..._SFxTtweet.jpg

Looks like Vega to me. His hair/head by Ibukis hand, his claw by Blankas foot and his mask, in a "thrown away" motion by Blankas hand.

Didn't see the second one coming.

Quasi-excited for this game now. It plays like a genuine arcade fighting game. Doesn't take itself too seriously, lots of flash, nice gimmicks. Should be fun...

WHEN FOUR PLAYER IS ANNOUNCED

Drakul 09-01-2011 01:53 PM

That image makes sense now. Sean and his basketball. It's one of those "Duh!" moments after it get's revealed.

Drakul 09-01-2011 02:02 PM

People seem to be thinking the basket ball is a red herring. Other than the basket ball nothing else points towards Sean. Most think it's actually going to be Rolento.

Blitz 09-02-2011 12:01 AM

Can't even tell who the first one is.

Kalyx triaD 09-02-2011 12:26 AM

Kazuya's papi.

Blitz 09-02-2011 12:37 AM

Bah.

Kalyx triaD 09-02-2011 12:40 AM

He catches bullets with his teeth.

Drakul 09-03-2011 03:51 AM

Ono posts two images that basically confirm who the new characters are, even though he put his Blanka toy in the way.

Street Fighter:
SPOILER: show
Rolentos glove and baton can be seen next to Blankas head. Considering we're getting most of the FF cast and we have the Truck stop stage. My hopes for Sodom to be in the game are high.
http://media.eventhubs.com/images/20..._SFxTtweet.jpg

Tekken:
SPOILER: show
Heihachi's hair can be seen behind Blanka.http://media.eventhubs.com/images/20...fxttweet02.jpg

Blitz 09-03-2011 03:52 AM

Happy for Rolento.

Kalyx triaD 09-03-2011 01:51 PM

Blanka himself?

Drakul 09-04-2011 05:06 AM

Some of the voice actors for the game could have just let slip that Blanka is in at 5:15 though they could have been talking about when he voiced him in SFIV.

Drakul 09-05-2011 02:36 AM

Kalyx can maybe get excited now.

http://media.eventhubs.com/images/20...notwosuper.jpg

Two super bars instead of just the one we've seen up until now. 2 players on the same team, maybe, with a bar for each player?

Edit: On a side note, there are gameplay videos uploaded to CapcomUnityVideos YT channel. One fight (Poison & Nina vs Ryu & Ken) takes place at a skate park. You can see Yun skateboarding in the background and Yang watching. So, maybe they wont be in.

Edit 2: A cool musical touch in the game. When two Street Fighter characters are on a team and are both on the screen at the same time or doing a tag team ultra, the Street Fighter II theme tune kicks in.

Kalyx triaD 09-05-2011 03:16 PM

Ono is a fucking master at this.

Ono: Thanks, but we'll be announce about new system in Tokyo Game Show... so busy... ;)
Also, Ready-Up.net put up a short podcast interview with Yoshinori, where he mentions that the storylines between Namco and Capcom's versions of SFxT won't cross over and hints at mini games or some other kinds of extra modes like Tekken Ball could be added in, potentially as soon as TGS.

This isn't a long interview, and there's interesting stuff discussed, so it's worth hoping the link to hear Ono talk shop. You can skip straight to the Ono interview by jumping to the 01:09:00 mark of the podcast.

A lot of the comments for the story are people crying that it'll be a "comeback mechanic" of some kind and that such a thing is stupid and wrong because it means people who don't have "Mad Skillz" might win a round. We wouldn't want someone that doesn't play SF 24/7 enjoying it, would we?

These are probably the same people that play as Ryu/Ken and Shoryuken absolutely everything so, whatever.

Does anyone agree comeback mechanics are bad? I really can't see how they are.

I wonder how many fights the haters of comeback mechanics have won using the system they claim to hate. I'm sure they didn't hate it that day.

It's like spamming in the sense that it's ok as long as they are the ones doing it. If they are on the receiving end, it sucks, it's cheap and it's "scrubby".
God, I hate the term "scrubby".

Kalyx triaD 09-06-2011 09:44 AM

Well for one Ono and Seth already commented on the game not having a blatant comeback mechanic. And if it did, I'm betting it would work like the fairly benign Rage system in Tekken 6 (or in Tekken Tag 2's current build). Either way people should stop bitching.

More likely it's the multiplayer mode.

And for the record, the only comeback mechanic I hate is the fucking Blue Shell. I have absolutely no problem with Ultra Moves, K-Meter, Desperation Moves, X-Factor, Rage, Death Streaks, or anything else that keeps people in the game no matter how obvious or under the hood it works. If you're good you'll work the metagame. If you're bad you get victimized. The only comeback mechanic that legitimately rewards a bad player is the fucking Blue Shell. Fuck that thing.

I have to agree here, really. The Blue Shell is pretty ridiculous. Especially because if you're doing bad enough to get one, you already have almost no hope of winning anyway. Short of a massive clusterfuck at a bottleneck, I've never won a race in any Mario Kart game using the blue shell. It just fucks over whoever is number one and maybe one or 2 people without the sense to move when they hear the fucking thing approaching behind you. Since I'm usually top 3 (Mario Kart is the one racing game I've historically raped at), I tend to get get fucked out of victories when the blue shell is a-comin'.

As for comebacks in fighting games, the mechanics are usually subtle or they have a limited window or they have awkward execution methods/horrible recovery times. They're not meant to be crutches, but they can turn the tide in an instant if you know what you're doing.

Will be interesting seeing Drakul making Gief and Hugo work together.

<iframe width="560" height="345" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/CiVC9j7r4HY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Being that the roster is not really speaking to me (despite my excitement for the game), and I'm known for making cute little action girls my characters, I'll just try to make things work with Lili. Still hoping for Sakura, Karin, and Asuka.

Captain of Fun 09-08-2011 03:15 PM

Either Asuka or Jun are a lock, I'd say. Far too popular with tekken fans to leave out.

Kalyx triaD 09-08-2011 03:53 PM

Given the timeline of the Tekken roster, Asuka will be in over Jun. She was pretty much confirmed with that tease in the second reveal trailer.

Drakul 09-09-2011 02:20 AM

Zangief, awesome! I'm hoping Hugo works better in this than in SF3. So many times I'll grab someone with Hugo and his arms go right through them and the grab doesn't register.

I wonder who Zangiefs partner will be. R.Mika?

He wont be Rolentos partner because they don't do these reveals for both members of a team. Do they?
One guy gets revealed with these trailers, we see them in action and we see their partner in the water trailers who gets revealed later. So we have at least 2 more SF guys to be revealed.
