You can't be considered the best in Call of Duty by only playing cage matches with RPGs. You can't be considered the best Rock Bander by only mastering one song. You can't be considered the best racer by only racing with PT Cruisers.

You can't be considered the best Street Fighter by only mastering 1 character. There are 35. I'm only asking you to master 5.

Sports games are exempt from this logic.

Actually, I take that back. I would consider someone who played well with any team much better than someone who runs the table with only the Lakers/Yankees etc

- Switching up classes in CoD is akin to switching characters, yes, but if someone uses a single class the entire game I don't see how that's a strike against his skill. In fact if he can make one class work in multiple situations his adaptability should be celebrated.

- The Rock Band analogy might work if it's a competition that forces people to play Face-Offs with each instrument. But I doubt people would accept such terms.

- The best racers only ever choose a single car to use, particularly in games where a player would have no real reason to use a lesser vehicle. He might need something that handles different, but then I might need another character to handle an opponent in Street Fighter.

Bear in mind this is an argument for people who don't play 5 characters competitively. I got my four, and then I could use Ibuki and Juri adequately if push comes to shove. Alva has who, Abel and Sagat? That's a series right there if they lose all their credits.

May we can discuss this 'fuck up' in the proper thread? I played 30mins of campaign and I was sold on it (and I rarely enjoy single player as much as multiplayer). So I'd like to hear this.

My point is, someone who is a jack of all trades will be considered better than someone who is proficient in only one area.

How did that 'across the board' proficiency work when we had those TBs and it's best to choose your mains for your team? Rather have a bitchin Alva/Abel than an Alva of all trades. There's nothing limiting about being awesome with one character.

and also, to touch base on the subject, i would get bored as fuck using the same character in ANY game. Im a diehard Laker fan but i rarely (other than Roxer and mine's Suns/Lakers series) use them, most of the time picking different teams.

In UFC i never shoot for the same character, or go for Brock Lesnar/GSP/anyone i know who is ridiculously overpowered in the game.

To be honest, i dont see how anyone can use a single character time and time again and not get bored as shit. Me personally, aside from the boredom, i like to test my ability with other characters.

Okay: watching replay and posting results:

Match 1: Abel v. Ken - Came out strong as Abel, actually taking a big lead health wise before Ant began to work his magic and beat me the first round, and taking any momentum i had away. I avoid the sweep of the match but ultimately Ant puts in work.

Ant wins by score of 3-1

(Ant-1 Alva-0)

Match 2: Sagat v. Cammy - Pretty much stuffed Cammy's offense the entire match, keeping her at a distance while playing more 'defensive minded'

Alvarado wins by score of 3-0

Match 3: Cody v. Juri - Really good fight but some big lag kicked in. At one point in time the lag stopped but my guy was still idle for a solid 3 seconds (Ant backed away because he's a standup guy). Had a scare in the second round where i barely won by throwing a rock. Ant worked me in the first match with Ken definitively, and i'd say this was my redemption win.

Match 4: Bison v. Ken - Good match. Went back and fourth the majority of the time, with close victories and wide margins both being had. In the end i was able to keep Ant guessing enough to make the right calls offensively.

Match 5: Sagat v. Cammy - Okay here is where it gets sticky. The match was almost over with me about to take a W when it lagged out and took us back to the lobby. Me and Ant agree'd on calling that one a match and starting over with the same character. I know its best of nine, which means i had to win five, but seeing as how we were in agreement, we went ahead and used the same characters again.

Match 6: Sagat v. Cammy (rematch) - Close ass game, with me taking the first two rounds then Ant battling back the next two. Though techinically we used Saga/Cammy 3 times against each other, like i said, we agree'd it was cool in order to settle the score. If this is a big deal and im DQ'd so be it.
