Speaking of "Storm The Beaches", I really like Fozzy's 10+ minute songs that they seem to be doing now at the end of their albums that also tell a story. I really liked "Wormwood" from "Chasing The Grail". But yeah, I would also give Sin And Bones 9/10. :y: |

Took me a little bit to get into it, but by the second time around absolutely loved it. Bought the new fozzy album yesterday too. Need to give that a couple more listens, but am really liking it. |
Krystian Zimerman/Pierre Boulez - Maurice Ravel: The Piano Concertos 7/10

Gianluigi Trovesi/Gianni Coscia - Round About Weill 7.5/10 |
Flying Lotus - Until The Quiet Comes 9.5/10
Album of the Year Candidate |
The Carpenter by the Avett Brothers : 7 out of 10. Falls short of their last album by far but a solid release. A lot slower if you don't mind that sort of thing.
Dave Matthews Band - Away From The World : 7 out of 10. Lacks a really big hit but they haven't really had one of those since the mid 90s. A few amazing ballads but the majority is middle of the set list fodder for the next few tours. Not one bad song but def lacking in that lasting sound overall. |
Go Radio-Close The Distance: 9/10. Pop perfection.
Blaqk Audio-Bright Black Heaven: 7.5/10. Need a few more listens, but I might like it a bit more than the first album. |
Coexist by The xx - 2/5
Bring back Baria! |

Frehley's Comet - Second Sighting (1988): 9/10 Very underrated post-KISS album from guitarist Ace Frehley. Love the switching back and forth of the singing from Ace and guitarist/keyboardist Tod Howarth. |

Devon Sproule - Upstate Songs 7/10 The English Concert/Trevor Pinnock - Corelli: 12 Concerti Grossi, Op. 6. 8.5/10 |
Abandoned Pools-Sublime Currency: 7.5/10, pretty solid return.

Lupe Fiasco-Food & Liquor 2-The Great American Rap Album Part 1: 7/10. A few excellent tracks. Battle Scars should be huge. |

Mistur - Attende 6/10. Great album, but very repetitive.... |

but you suck so no |
Yes, I think you are a dick as well.
But anyways, I saw them last month supporting The Dum Dum Girls, whilst I was in Copenhagen, and I thought they were pretty decent. Better live, methinks. The singer almost spilt his drink on me after their set, the dozy sod. Actually, the singer and his brother reminded me of you at the time, Fakelaser. |
They live down the street from me. I have chilled with them a couple times. They are big in this local music scene. I've booked them for shows a couple of times. They own and live in the DIY venue Shea Stadium.
|
Blunderbuss by Jack White - 3/5

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_f1N3dpNTjW.../s400/1100.jpg
Enslaved - Frost. 10/10. They don't make music like this anymore, phenomenal black metal from Norway. The only thing that detracts from this album for me is that the lyrics are in Norweigean. |
Marcus Creed/Akademie fur Alte Musik Berlin - Handel: Ode for the Birthday of Queen Anne/Dixit Dominus 8.5/10
|
http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/9...rahadabraf.jpg
Dimmu Borgir - Abrahadabra. 9/10. Really awesome album. I know Dimmu get a lot of criticism for moving away from the pure BM sound, but I love the symphonic style they've acquired. Really enjoyable album, and I liked the guest female vocalist on the Gateways track. Wish they would have a permanent female vocalist... |
Paul Simon - There Goes Rhymin' Simon 7/10

Dimmu Borgir - Abrahadabra. 9/10. Prefer Dimmu being all big budget. Glad I caught them live last year. |
Dordeduh - Dar-De-Dah - 8/10: Negura Bunget-ish black metal; Band's formed by two NB members; Soothing, chilling, inspiring.
|
Deadmau5 -"Insert Album Title Here" 8/10. Not as good as 4x4=12, plus pretty good. LOVE Professional Griefers
David Guetta- "Nothing but the Beat 2.0" 5/10. Remember when Guetta wasn't a complete sell-out? |
Nevermind - 10/10
|
Deftones- Koi No Yokan 8.5/10
|

|
Black Circle - A Distand Wind.
Good black metal, but most of the songs sound the same on this album. Could use a lot more variety. 6/10. |

Beach House - Bloom
9/10 Amazing album. |
http://www.metal-archives.com/images/7/6/6/5/76659.jpg
Bombensturm - Machtwerk. 5/10. Totally average, nothing really stands out, which is a shame because everything on the album is good, it's just all extremely bland. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_27L_frzBWG...s320/Front.JPG Bahal - Striges. 9/10. Really good stuff and I enjoy the italian language vocals. |
Punch Brothers - Ahoy! (EP) 7/10
Gianluigi Trovesi and Gianni Coscia - Round About Offenbach 7/10 |
http://www.metal-norge.com/images/Qu...ticaAlbum3.jpg
Quintessence Mystica - The 5th Harmonic of Death. 10/10. Freaking incredible, never thought an album this good could come from Ukraine of all places. Also impressed that it's pretty much a two man project, http://a1.ec-images.myspacecdn.com/i...876ed641/l.jpg |
It would be cool if the dude with the pipe smoked in when in concert
|
"Holy Diver" by Dio is one of the greatest hardrock albums ever and I just listened to it in its entirety for the first time (I had previously only listened to about 5 songs or so). Easy 9/10
|

Now listen to Last in Line, Dream Evil and Magica. |
Pintint, you seem to be into the metal scene, are you familiar with Swedish group Sabaton? I've seen them and they are phenomenal, and their album Art of War is one of the best to come out in a while. Easy 8/10.
|
Ashdautas - Shadow Plays Of Grief and Pain.
5/10. Poor production quality combined with generic music make for an extremely average album that seems to try too hard for the "kvlt" sound of older albums. Quote:
|
Check out "Ghost Division" "Coat of Arms" "40:1" and "Midway". See if you like those tracks.
|
Pintint, i need to spread some reputation around. Great choice in albums. Mind listing your 2012 best of?
|
Al DiMeola - Land of the Midnight Sun 8/10
Fine Arts Quartet/Cristina Ortiz - Faure: Piano Quintets 8.5/10 |
Marduk - Serpent Sermon.
Just found out that I somehow missed that Marduk had a new album out this year. Pretty good, I need to listen to it more, but first impression is easily a 9/10. |

Kaskade "Fire and Ice" 6/10. Kinda disappointing.
Armin Van Buuren "Trance Classics 6" 10/10. Brought back so many great memories Armin Van Buuren "Trance Classics 7" 7/10. This should and might be the end of these. A few good tracks from Armin, Marco V and Above&Beyond but it seems like he's pretty much run out of classics that were good. Ferry Corsten "WKND" 9/10. Not as good as Right of Way which is my fav Trance album of all time, but pretty amazing. Brute, Not Coming Down and Live Forever are the standouts. |
Damn, that Kaskade Fire and Ice is disappointing? I was about to go get it too =(
May give the Armin Van Buuren 6 a listen b/c i may be the only person in the world who's unfamiliar with his work. |
Tom Waits - Blood Money 8/10
Patricia Kopatchinskaja - Bartok/Eotvos/Ligeti 8/10 Maria Kliegel/Nina Tichman - Faure: Cello Sonatas No. 1 and 2 8.5/10 You won't find any trance crap near me. |
The Lumineers (2012)
Not one bad song on the record. Unique band to come out of 2012 and have a mainstream hit song. 9/10 Very much enjoy everything about this album. A little Mumfordy with a little folky bluegrassy feel at times. Quite enjoyable in the background. |
There is something rather contrived about Mumford and Sons, and The Lumineers. I don't know what it is, but it stops me from listening to them.

Deliberately created rather than arising naturally or spontaneously. Giving a sense of artificiality. The same could be said for any and all music on the radio. Sometimes it's fun to crawl out from under the rock known as "indie" and just enjoy some awesome Earthy music that was created with basically no intention of succeeding. Do you think M&S thought they would get to perform with Bob Dylan 2 years ago? No. They may have shared some commercial success but it came from a very natural place. Me thinks. And that is after much research on the roots of the group. The Lumineers may very well be a ripoff of Fun. or Mumford & Sons, however. |
Boo Clan - Angel City Rippers. 8/10.
|
Quote:
That Armin cd is a compliation album of old Trance songs from his radio show. It's fantastic though. |

Conor Oberst, on a smaller scale, brought back folk in america before Mumford came along. And old crow medicine show too.
|
It is more a case of that I feel the likes of Mumford and Sons are just putting this act on, and don't have any real substance to backup what they play.
Same can be said of manufactured pop. But you know what you are getting with such "artists." |

http://images.cryhavok.org/d/8897-1/...s+Endeavor.jpg
Nevermore - This Godless Endeavor. Absolute instant classic, 10/10. |
Sufjan Stevens's five-disc Christmas Sing Along album, very good "takes" on Christmas classics, also like ten "original" Christmas songs pretty crazy, very Sufjan
|
Death Cab for Cutie - Plans 7.5/10
Trampled by Turtles - Palomino 8/10 The Florestan Trio - Three French Piano Trios: Faure/Debussy/Ravel 9/10 |
NOFX-Self Entitled 7/10
The Descendants-Milo goes to college 8/10 |
Quote:
Just listened to Lagwagon's "Blaze" for the hundredth time. LOVE it. |
I haven't heard of anything any of you people listen to. I assume its all noise and not nearly as good as the last tape I listened too: Genesis-Invisible Touch 9.5/10 one of the best tapes of the mid 80s.
|
Emma Johnson - Brahms: Clarinet Sonatas 8.5/10
|

10 Years - Minus The Machine 8/10 Pretty decent. Seemed a little rushed to me considering I never heard any hype for the album until it was already out. It's taking time to grow on me but it I don't think it will feel better to me than Feeding The Wolves, and it certainly isn't it as great as Division was. Still a great album and should definitely be checked out, especially if you're into any of their work including "Wasteland", "Beautiful, "Shoot It Out" and "Fix Me". |
Taylor Swift-Red: 8.5/10. Fantastic pop album, just overlong. Cut it to 11 or 12 songs and it could be album of the year.
|

I thought Axe to Fall was great, but this album is even rawer and bad ass. Tasty shizzle. |
all the cold play albums - .05/10 they make good target practice.
