Sure. the animation is nice.
But if you like superheroes that look like they haven't hit puberty yet..
the characters appear to be based on those little figures they sell for kids that are marvel themed.

Kalyx triaD 09-15-2009 02:26 AM

Yeah... that's the idea...

Rammsteinmad 09-15-2009 11:55 AM

Sweet! I wanna check this out!

X-Men Films is reporting that Tim Pocock, who played Scott Summers – better known as Cyclops – in X-Men Origins: Wolverine will reprise the role of the beam-shooting mutant in Josh Schwartz's vision of X-Men: First Class. The information comes from an apparent Twitter posting made by Pocock stating that he'll begin production of the film sometime after February of 2010.

Fignuts 09-18-2009 01:33 PM

Why the fuck don't they just make x-men 4 already. I want apocalypse, damn it.

Kalyx triaD 09-18-2009 04:47 PM

There will be no X-Men 4. They want the First Class reboot/prequel.

LuigiD 09-18-2009 05:08 PM

x-men first class would be epic fail in my opinion.
Well, it would do great at the box office, epic fail from my perspective.
I did like the comics but I can just picture them turning into something among the lines of Smallville.

Kalyx triaD 09-18-2009 05:20 PM

But it's a movie, not a TV show...

Funky Fly 09-18-2009 09:53 PM

I kinda see his point though. The early years and the First Class books don't really have anything to them that would translate into a movie all that well, other than the development of the relationships between the characters.

Amen.
Kaylx, Smallville has taken the Superman mythos and dumbed it down pretty much for high schoolers in my opinion. I am not saying that all who watch it fit under that category, but come on. Who the hell does Flash wearing a red jogging suit? Aquaman? even worse. Look at all those Youtube videos people make as a tribute to Clark and his random crushes. X-men first class..unless I am wrong..they would try to bring all types of teen romance to it. Picture the Iceman and Shadowcat deal from the X-Men trilogy times 10.
I don't know what to expect from the X-men franchise in the future but I can't say I am to excited. I am more interested to see what Marvel will do with the Avengers.

Fignuts 09-18-2009 11:45 PM

I don't particularly care for rebooting a series that doesn't need it.

That was the initial idea. Superman with a Dawson's Creek spin.

And again, there's TV and then there's movies.

Kalyx triaD 09-19-2009 10:31 AM

Some updates on a lot of projects.

LuigiD 09-19-2009 07:22 PM

So many reboots..bah..does Blade really need a reboot? I don't think so. It just needs a good script. Fuck..with all the vampire characters in Blade they keep bringing in the stupidest villains.
So many 2011 releases too..pretty intense.
Anyhow, I have always wanted to see a Midnight Sons animated series in the vein of the Spawn series from HBO. It would perfectly fit the style of the characters imo.

Kalyx triaD 09-23-2009 04:04 AM

X-Men First Class does NOT go into production soon. Lil Cyke retracted his twitter statement. Hmm....

XL 09-23-2009 10:21 AM

Seems to me they are employing a logic along the lines of "Look how well they did when they rebooted Batman. Perhaps we should do the same!?".

Shame there's no real logic there. Like some have said, there are franchises that don't need a reboot (X-Men, Spider-Man, Blade) and others that won't be "saved" whatever you do to them. How well did the Hulk reboot do? They're already talking about a Superman reboot after, what, less than 5 years!?

Kalyx triaD 09-25-2009 06:24 PM

Fox won't allow it.

Boondock Saint 09-25-2009 08:04 PM

Rob Liefeld can suck a dick.

Fignuts 09-25-2009 08:55 PM

What did Rob Liefield do now?

Shadow 09-26-2009 07:19 PM

Create Deadpool?

Funky Fly 09-27-2009 03:59 AM

Let's be honest, Deadpool was not cool until Liefeld had nothing to do with the character anymore. He was just a rip off of Deathstroke with a slight name change (2 letters!), a palette swap and lots of pouches who got his shit pushed in by Cable and X-Force on the regular. Other people developed his personality and backstory.

Fignuts 09-27-2009 01:29 PM

Yeah, Fabian Nicieza is the real brains behind deadpool. Liefield just designed the first costume.

Fignuts 09-27-2009 01:31 PM

Should add that leifield was going to make him a serious character before fabian stepped in and said "you can't just blatantly rip off deathstroke."

Fignuts 09-27-2009 03:30 PM

Also, wtf is this I hear about steve rogers coming back already? What fucking bullshit.

Kalyx triaD 09-27-2009 04:06 PM

Yeah, what a wasted death. It was actually meaningful for a while.

Fignuts 09-27-2009 08:13 PM

Not to mention it was one of the most well executed "passing of the torch" stories ever. I like bucky cap.

Fignuts 09-27-2009 08:14 PM

I just hope the same thing doesn't happen with bruce wayne, because I love the grayson/damien combo as batman and robin.

Also Grant Morrison is a genius.

Kalyx triaD 09-27-2009 08:24 PM

Well Batman coming back wouldn't bother me because his death was kinda meh and against his mythology... just too other-worldy...

But the DC heroes are pretty much against passing any torch. Where's the universe growth there? I'd love for my kids to enjoy their own Batman, just to be able to say, "Back in my day Bruce Wayne handled things like this..."

There's a charm to telling kids how much their current Power Rangers suck compared to Mighty Morphin.

HeartBreakMan2k 09-27-2009 11:12 PM

Wait, I don't follow DC. How and when did Bruce die?

Kalyx triaD 09-27-2009 11:40 PM

During the Final Crisis arc. Darkseid takes him out.

Fignuts 09-27-2009 11:48 PM

I actually wouldn't care if bruce came back as long as he stayed awy from the mantle. I also, didn't find his death as meaningful as cap's, but like I said, I LOVE grayson ands damian as batman and robin. Especialy how the roles have been reversed, with batman being the more light hearted one, and robin being the darker one. And it will be cool to see how grayson wins the respect of the gcpd, the villains, and gotham as a whole.

Still havn't read battle for the cowl, but R.I.P. and morrison's whole run has been amazing. Mainly because I had read reprints of a lot of the crazy stories from the black case book as a kid. I imagine it was pretty wtf and confusing for people who havn't.

Marked out so bad for the zur-en-arrh costume.

HeartBreakMan2k 09-27-2009 11:48 PM

Sounds somewhat underwhelming especially when you consider Rogers death...

Fignuts 09-27-2009 11:53 PM

Kalyx's description is underwhelming, that's all. Batman kills darkseid at the same time, pretty much saving the universe in the process.

He also uses a gun to do it, breaking his greatest oath. Frankly, I didn't have a problem with it like other people did. I mean, it's his most sacred oath yes, but it took the fate of the entire universe to break. What was he supposed to do? "WellI could stop you right here and now, but I said I'd never use a gun, so I guess we're fucked."

LuigiD 09-27-2009 11:59 PM

I don't like the fact that DC barely makes an effort to pass the torch down.
I liked reading JSA mostly because of it. I liked seeing Flash, Green Lantern, etc talk to the newer heroes and try to introduce them to the world. I thought that the older guys would eventually sort of step down..but nah.
That is one thing I like better about Marvel. I really like reading marvel the initiative. I might be biased with DC because I only read a few titles..but it just seems plain. I feel like Marvel is miles ahead as far as story telling goes compared to DC. Final Crisis was a mess to read..even for some of my friends who have been die hard DC fans for years.

Yeah, DC's crossovers try to do way too much at once imo, just for the sake of being "epic". Marvel keeps the story simple and lets the characters drive the plot. Marvel is more character driven than DC in the first place, which I why I prefer it.

However some DC books are right up there with marvel's best. Green Lantern is probably the best mainstream book around right now. I used to put captain america ahead of it, but CA has slowed down while GL keeps getting better and better. Like I said, Morrison's batman has also been amazing.

Teen titans has its positives and a huge negative.

Positives: The anime style, that's more fun than anything else
No Superboy (thank GOD!)
Main Villian being Deathshot
The theme is one of the best ever
The episode where Robin is Nightwing. In fact, a Nightwing series is a good way to go.

Negative:
Deathshot being called Slade because Deathshot is too extreme for kiddies. I understand that his real name is Slade, but that's not the point. Call him fucking DEATHSHOT, god damn it!

Kalyx triaD 10-11-2009 07:48 PM

Logan Vs Japan, Bub:

For the next Wolverine movie, Logan will be facing skilled warrior's who aren't even mutants. Visually, they're working on a new way for Logan to fight with his claws as this sequel seems to aim for a martial arts presentation. Have we really been watching Wolverine go all animal for ten years? This should be cool. Fox is hooking up with their Japan branch for authenticity and they will film in Japan as well. The X-Men movies are liked in Japan so this movie should be an international spooning.

Class Is In:

The X-Men reboot, First Class is looking to the latter Harry Potter movies as inspiration (I don't watch the Potter films... is this good?). They want this to be a franchise so the casting will be important. If you're anything like me the only thing on your mind is OMG THERE'S NO X4?! :( :foc:

Say It With Me, "Merc... with a MOUTH":

Hey you, reading this update - yeah YOU. Kalyx wants you to know that they're gonna ignore my cousin, Barakapool. They're gonna reboot me, baby - origin and all! In fact... if those gray suits at Fox read my threatening- ah... I mean business proposals, my movie will have all the dark comedy and 4th wall breaking I want! The tricky part is getting a writer as crazy as me... Who wrote that Chun Li movie, again? It's not what you think - there's 30Gs on his head and Mystique has a head start!

...See what I did there?

...

Whatever, go back to reading your nerdy forum, loser!

It is a WWH movie. But if you mean live-action, don't hold your breath. I have a theory on how Marvel's gonna craft their live action universe in the future but it's speculation for now. I will say that I feel the days of direct comic-adaptation are coming to a close.

Ignorance Is Bliss: Singer's X3:

When Bryan Singer left to make Superman Returns he took his writer, Michael Doughtry with him - even as they were kicking around X3 ideas. What we got in it's stead was a superhero movie directed by the guy who did Rush Hour. But what of Singer and Doughtry's version of X-Men 3?

Well... it would have been fucking epic.

Here's Doughtry discussing for the first time an outline of their X3 (full quote):

Quote:

"The idea was that you open up with Alkali Lake but it's completely barren and dried up and there are these odd reports of strange phenomena going on around the world accompanied by bright lights in the sky.

"The idea would be that both the X-Men and the Brotherhood realise that essentially a very god-like force had entered their reality and that it was causing disruptions around the world, you know mutant prisons being decimated, I had pitched an idea about a fleet of cargo ships getting torn apart in the Atlantic and you found out that they were shuttling mutants as slave labour.

"You found out was that Phoenix was going round the world taking things into her own hands and that she had basically returned as a god, which they did in X3. She had viewed herself as above the conflict, that she was here to end things on her terms, she was sick of the fighting and she was going to take things into her own hands and she did not give a s**t what the X-Men or the Brotherhood had to say about it.

"And ultimately the way it was going to end, at least the version I was pushing for, would be that Phoenix was kind of like the Starchild at the end of 2001, she didn't just get stabbed and die again, but she kind of chose to leave.

"The one idea that I loved, that I really wanted to do, was that Cyclops would build the Danger Room. He felt guilty that because the X-Men were too weak, they weren't strong enough or fast enough, that was the reason Jean died. If they were a little bit better at fighting, then she might still be alive. It was all about this guilt he had about her death and he built the Danger Room to train them to be better. In the end it really was about him not being able to let go of her and that causes the chaos and disruption in the movie and in the end it's about him letting her go.

"Ultimately she kind of becomes that cosmic force that Phoenix is known to be, she leaves Earth and becomes a god or at least a higher level of intelligence and she goes into the cosmos possibly to kick-start life somewhere else. The final scene for me would have been her telling Cyclops or her telling the X-Men 'I'll be watching.'"
God... dammit.

Never Cross A Black Cat:

Sam Raimi is looking for a female lead to portray Felicia Hardy, who we all know to be the Black Cat. The front runner right now is Rachal McAdams. This confirms a character never spoken about previously. They're also looking for a male lead for a villain, but that's a little more mysterious.

Dylan Baker is back has Dr. Kurt Conners, and I'm reading that he'll finally do the Lizard thing this time. Does this mean we have two villains for Spidey 4?

Never Pet A Black Cat, Either:

We know Black Cat is in Spidey 4, but now we have a story to go along with the reveal:

Quote:

Apparently she is the daughter of the new editor of The Daily Bugle, a man who is also referred to as ‘a viper' (more on this in a second). She falls in love with Peter Parker, and uncovers his true identity. Her father then dies, and Hardy becomes a threat to Peter Parker (presumably as The Black Cat).
Does everybody hate Peter after their father dies?

Marvel is confident about Thor:

Quote:

We are incredibly confident [about the movie]. And there isn't much I could say to convince people beyond, "Look at these designs! Look at this script! Look at the moments in this story and tell me it won't be a huge success." But, that's obviously something I can't do, so the one thing I can say – and I've said as much to Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige – is that people are going to go into this movie with a preconceived idea about what it will be. If you're a comics fan, you'll have a preconceived notion of what you're going to get. If you're a non-comics fan, you'll have another notion of what the movie is all about. And what's really amazing is that both groups will walk away going, "I've never seen anything like this before within the super hero genre." It's so cool, and I don't want to use the word unusual, but it is unusual in the sense that it redefines what a super hero movie can be. It's not the expected story or settings. That part of it is incredibly exciting to me.

I read about it.
He is already dissing the costume. I am pretty torn up about the costumes in super hero movies. While some stay true to the source and look great(Iron Man, Batman, Spider-Man) others just look awful. I mean, Hawkeye does not feel like Hawkeye if it is just a guy wearing a trench coat with a bow. But it looks absolutely stupid if it's a guy wearing a big purple mask.

Fignuts 12-01-2009 12:23 PM

I know that Dubai is a hot and upcoming place with tons of resorts, etc. But I am sorry..I don't see a lot of people traveling all the way to Dubai. Specially with the way the economy is going and xenophobia. I am really impressed by the decision to be honest..but whatever..seems like a dream come true but I doubt many will ever even bother to visit.
