Its how they explain why Peter's folks aren't alive anymore. Easy backstory to write really.

During the Real Steel truck event at the San Diego Comic-Con earlier today, Hugh Jackman confirmed who the villain will be for The Wolverine.

He told the crowd that filming is scheduled to start in October and that "Chris McQuarrie has written a fantastic script." He added that he will fight the Silver Samurai in the new film and "that should be exciting."

As we've previously reported, Jackman said that most of the filming will take place in Japan.

A new director for the film has not been announced and 20th Century Fox has not set a release date yet.

And a collective "Meh" came forth from the masses.

Lock Jaw 07-21-2011 08:40 PM

Really, with it being already confirmed as a mostly Japan story, Silver Samurai was kinda obvious.

Fignuts 07-21-2011 09:35 PM

Yeah, and not to mention he's the only other really cool wolvie villain besides Deathstrike, and they obviously can't go with her since Logan has already lost his memory.

Who else could they use? Romulus? lol, no thank you.

Fignuts 07-21-2011 09:45 PM

So my thoughts on Fear Itself so far:

SPOILER: show
Really not liking this. Just don't like the flow of this. Doesn't really hook me in any way. And I'm already pissed off cause they killed off bucky cap. And since they had this big dramatic moment with Steve redonning the stripes, I don't think he's coming back. Which is incredibly fucking stupid for a number of reasons.

One, it renders one of the greatest sagas in Captain America's history to be pretty much meaningless. Two, we lose the potential years of great sories of Bucky trying to fill the shoes of rogers. The recent Trial storyline was great, and just the tip of the iceberg, in regards to what could be done with the character. Three, we miss out on all the great stories that could have come from Steve Rogers becoming the new Nick Fury, and doing that job in his own way.

Seriously, Marvel spent all this time freshening up these two characters in ways that would give them years of original new stories, just to hit the reset button and go back to square one.

Cap didn't even die in a cool way. He just got owned by Sin. Even the art was lazy. I didn't realize it was a killing blow til a page later.

What a fucking joke. I really don't care how good the rest of this is, I won't like it unless they somehow bring back Cap at the end.

Reavant 07-22-2011 12:36 AM

to be fair they didnt actually confirm
SPOILER: show
he died

Inadequacy 07-22-2011 02:47 AM

It feels like there are too many stories happening in the main book. I know they did that as to not force people to buy more tie-in series; but with so little time to devote to every story it doesn't feel like any of them progress naturally. It always feels rushed or like there isn't any progression.

Also
SPOILER: show
issue 4 confirms he's dead

Fignuts 07-22-2011 12:41 PM

What Ina said.

Fignuts 07-22-2011 12:42 PM

Siege had the same problem, though it's 4 issue structure didn't help either.

I pretty much agree.

I saw Thor online and First Class and honestly Thor was sorta boring. Thor was good, but not anywhere near Iron Man good. Maybe Incredible Hulk good but not close to great. First Class was way better, surprisingly.

Shadow 07-22-2011 05:26 PM

Just cause he's dead doesn't mean he's dead. This is comics after all.

Fox 07-24-2011 05:26 PM

So, what, am I the only one who went and saw Captain America this weekend?

7/10

I really enjoyed it for the most part. Chris Evans surprised me in that I don't usually care for his work, but he was a pretty great Captain America. Hugo was awesome as Red Skull, although I kind of wish he had gotten more screen time. I would've liked to see a little bit more intense action - I mean, I was basically expecting a war movie with a superhero on the battlefield, and that's not what we go. Director Joe Johnston has some quirks that I don't really care for, but they're all small things and overall I think he did a good job.

I guess there's not much to be expected out of an origin story since you already know what's going to happen for about 2/3rd's of the movie, and then the rest is predictable. You have to wait until the sequel to decide whether this character can really stand on legs or not. Looks like we'll be waiting awhile to find out since Cap's next feature will be as part of The Avengers.

Anyway, good movie, I suggest seeing it.

LuigiD 07-24-2011 09:43 PM

It was pretty good. I felt the musical part went on for perhaps..too long. I don't have much of a patience for musical segments so I suffered through it. The fair part was cool..specially for the cameo that I am sure some picked up.
Couldn't get over the fact that there was a multiracial unit during WWII. It bugged me throughout the whole movie. Pretty good tho. I think I give it a 7 as well.

dronepool 07-25-2011 05:28 AM

Captain America was way better than Thor. Thor was pretty alright, but Cap was very good.

Who was the cameo?

LuigiD 07-25-2011 09:32 AM

<spoiler> The original Human Torch. I think it was discussed here?http://media.comicbookmovie.com/imag...s/8073/ht2.jpg</spoiler>

Rammsteinmad 07-25-2011 10:40 AM

Oh wow, that's pretty awesome! So if they ever make a second Avengers movie, you think this is preparing for a Vision appearance?

LuigiD 07-25-2011 12:07 PM

I am thinking more Captain America 2 perhaps. I would love to see them expand stories from the WW2 period. Possibly introducing the Invaders?

Inadequacy 07-25-2011 02:28 PM

There's one really small part where bucky snipes a guy and cap gives him a sort of disapproving look. I really hope that was foreshadowing some winter Soldier stuff in the future.

Kalyx triaD 07-25-2011 02:57 PM

I would love for Winter Soldier to be a focal or secondary enemy in a future movie that takes place in the present (Cap 3?). All the talk points to Cap 2 being a WWII flash back.

OR, have Winter Soldier appear in some other Marvel movie. SHIELD? Maybe his own short film like they're planning.

Lock Jaw 07-25-2011 03:01 PM

I'd like to see Cap 2 in the present. Adjusting to his new time, but with flashes to the past that inevitably intertwine with the story in the present.

Jon Kano 07-25-2011 04:05 PM

OMFG you guys don't you just wanna blow a load over Caps shield let hulk rough fuck you from behind while Ironman is filming and Thor jerks off in the corner while Nick Fury slowly dies in the corner?

Kalyx triaD 07-25-2011 04:19 PM

I missed you.

Rammsteinmad 07-25-2011 06:26 PM

Is Thor jerking off in the same corner where Nick Fury is dying?

Corporate CockSnogger 07-25-2011 06:30 PM

Why do you think he's jerking off in the first place?

Rammsteinmad 07-25-2011 06:32 PM

Jon Kano said he was.

Rammsteinmad 07-25-2011 06:32 PM

I would look for that Sam Jackson 'read the thread before you post' gif, but I can't be fucked.

Corporate CockSnogger 07-25-2011 06:36 PM

I would look for some sort of image to suggest that my joke was either shit or went over your head, but I can't be fucked.

Rammsteinmad 07-25-2011 06:42 PM

Oh see now I get it. Sadly, your 'joke' is ruined and no longer funny.

Rammsteinmad 07-25-2011 06:42 PM

Sorry for ruining your day.

Part of me still can't believe this is a thing.

Lock Jaw 07-26-2011 02:22 AM

What is that? Ghost Rider movie sequel?

Kalyx triaD 07-26-2011 02:58 AM

Yes. Nic Cage returns. New director(s) and approach to the character. Apparently the first one wasn't hardcore enough.

LuigiD 07-26-2011 10:22 AM

Interested to see what they pull off with the new one. Huge Ghost Rider mark and the first one literally killed my interest with the character. Not getting my hopes up but something a little darker would gain my love.

First one was definitely emulating the 90's comic. Which kind of sucked.

Modern era Ghost Rider has a different feel. Don't really want to say "darker", but it's not as bright and colorful as the 90's one. Doesn't really feel like a superhero book either.

It's also a pretty good read. Some of the artwork is amazing too.

Jon Kano 07-26-2011 06:18 PM

That Ghost Rider poster looks like its from Robot Chicken or something.

Kalyx triaD 07-26-2011 06:49 PM

Well in their defense it's more production pic than poster. I miss the spikes, though.

alvarado52 07-27-2011 11:29 PM

Yeah, finally saw Cap...and proceeded to get goose bumps and squirm like a excited 10 year old for the end credits scene
