Imagine how dead this (and the Marvel thread) would be if we only reported things when the ink dried. I wouldn't know what to do with all the extra time.

Blitz 03-04-2013 08:08 PM

I'm not referring to you, I'm referring to idiots on Facebook, Twitter, and the internet in general posting "OMG BALE IS GUNNA BE BATMAN AGAIN!1111!"

parkmania 03-04-2013 09:28 PM

Leave Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan (even though I said since day one that he'd have made a better Guy Gardner), but make the GL in the JL movie be John Stewart. That'd solve the "We need a black person in the movie" dilemma. Have a throwaway line or two about the Corps, and problem solved. At that point you could even switch back and forth in future team-ups depending on which actor's available/desireable.

Kalyx triaD 03-04-2013 09:38 PM

I pretty much refuse to believe Green Lantern's movie would exist in what we see in The Dark Knight and what Man of Steel's looking like. Reboot GL.

Lock Jaw 03-05-2013 01:22 AM

New ongoing Superman comic apparently called "Superman Unchained". Pretty "bad" name.

Should have just brought back the "Superman: Man of Steel" name. Especially since they are doing this to play off of the movie, which happens to be entitled Man of Steel.

Written by Scott Snyder, though... so hopefully it will actually be good Superman. Though I still have a hard time seeing past his DCnU costume.

Nowhere Man 03-05-2013 09:13 PM

"Unchained?" Has Superman ever been successfully 'chained' before to make that adjective fit? I mean, yeah, Clark usually holds back on using the full scope of his powers, but that's because he wants to-- or rather, because he doesn't want to accidentally destroy everything and everyone around him-- and not because someone or something is holding him back against his will.

My guess is they're trying to go with the whole notion that "Oh yeah, now you're gonna see Superman really kick some ass!" At which point I would say that was never the point of the character in the first place.

I still like Scott Snyder and think he can do a good job on the book, but that title really puts a bad taste in my mouth, and doesn't exactly do much to make up for all the other questionable-at-best things they've done with Superman since the reboot.

The character is going to get a new look, DC co-publisher and series artist Jim Lee told USA Today. "We’ve been pushing the creators to not be beholden to the past conceits and understandings of Superman," Lee said. "So we will speak to a new generation of readers."

Lock Jaw 03-06-2013 12:09 AM

A new new look?

I bet Superman says the N-word a lot in his new comic book

Nowhere Man 03-06-2013 01:41 PM

Awesome. Just in case I was actually interested in reading this comic, now they're explicitly saying he's not going to be anything like the character I want to read about.

parkmania 03-06-2013 06:33 PM

Here's the pic that was included with the article. Not sure if it's representative of what's to come or not.

Coming out of Seattle's Emerald City Comic Con, DC Entertainment has announced two new series premiering in June.

First introduced in Flashpoint and teased as an important figure in the "New 52," Pandora receives her own ongoing, monthly title in Trinity of Sin: Pandora. Penned by Eisner and Harvey Awards nominee Ray Fawkes (One Soul, Justice League Dark, Constantine) and illustrated by Daniel Sampere (Batgirl, Justice League Dark), Trinity of Sin: Pandora traces Pandora's personal quest to confront the guilt, pain, and anger associated with her mythic name. An action and horror comic, Trinity of Sin: Pandora will coincide in parallel story developments alongside J.M. DeMatteis' rechristened Trinity of Sin: The Phantom Stranger, originally titled The Phantom Stranger.

Also coming in June, from Vertigo, is Brian Azzarello and Eduardo Risso's return to the world they created in 100 Bullets with Brother Lono. An eight-part mini-series, Brother Lono centers on Lono along with an entirely new cast of characters. Brother Lono will also feature covers by artist Dave Johnson. Although 100 Bullets ended in 2009, Azzarello and Risso have recently worked together on Vertigo's Spaceman (see "'Spaceman' Hardcover").

This is the most disappointing thread on the forums for me. Check in here every time there is a new post, and my heart sinks when when I see its just some dumb dc news instead of a new jl8 strip.

Damian Rey 03-07-2013 08:01 AM

Fignuts knows.

Kalyx triaD 03-07-2013 11:19 AM

This'll tide you over. A remixed wallpaper with Barry playing the game. Nice and hi-res.

Nah, but Barry will ALWAYS win when it comes down to being a button-masher.

Kalyx triaD 03-07-2013 09:56 PM

Kinda makes think about how Cyborg can be challenged by any other Titan at Titan Tower. He should have gaming hands down.

Bruce: "UGH! HE'S JUST SPAMMING ME IN THE CORNER!!!"

All of Clark's focus is on not losing his toppings.

HOLY SHIT!!!! Young Justice was amazing AGAIN today. There were a lot of loose ends tied up, and some questions revealed themselves. I hate CN for cancelling this show as it is amazing. Sadly, it feels like even the show creators knew this, as some of the lines seem to be bringing closure to everything. Next weeks episode seems sooooo apparent, with the.....well I don't feel like doing the spoiler tags so when you see it we'll talk.

Kalyx triaD 03-09-2013 01:08 PM

Due to a death in the family, Yale's Little League will have a little hiatus.

Krimzon7 03-09-2013 01:37 PM

Did you watch the video?

Kalyx triaD 03-09-2013 01:45 PM

Only read a message. Is there more to it?

Krimzon7 03-09-2013 03:42 PM

Well his grandmother passed, and then his grandfather passed shortly after. I believe that he will take a couple of weeks off but he has committed to coming back soon

Damian Rey 03-09-2013 05:31 PM

Very sad. He should take all the time he needs.

It's still a DC comic universe, and Bruce Wayne can never not be Batman. The city needed him before and he did right by them, but perhaps the world needs him now. He'd suit up for that.

Wanted to get back to this topic...

I agree that, in a comic book universe, Bruce Wayne will always be Batman. I think that the only character to don the cowl in any film or tv adaptation should be Bruce and only Bruce.

With that said, the entire DK trilogy was based around Bruce inspiring the city to the point where they no longer needed him to give his body, or his life, to push the city to save itself and not allow the corrupt to run it into the ground. This theme is present in each film.

By TDKR's end, Bruce finally found closure. Batman was finally Gotham's true hero, and, as Alfred said before Bruce suited up again, Bruce gave back to Gotham using more than his body.

To drag that particular take on Bruce Wayne back into a new universe that will be completely different and in no way related to TDK universe cheapens the ending is an excellent trilogy.

Even if it's a different Batman, bringing Bale back is only going to confuse general audiences who think he faked his death and retired. It would make absolutely no sense in any way to use Bale. They should recast, and create a new Batman take that has zero relation to Nolan's interpretation.

Scott Snyder's next big Batman story:

The story takes Bruce Wayne to the very beginning of his career in the New 52, DC Comics' year and a half old relaunched universe, and shows "how Batman became who he is," writer Scott Snyder tells the AP.

"It's not 'let's redo the origin,'" Snyder clarified. The story will focus on how Bruce Wayne figured out how to be Batman, and what challenges he faced when he first wore the cape and cowl.

"We tried to preserve as much of Batman's history as we could," said the writer. He promises this will be a story no one has told before, including how Bruce "built the cave" and "faced off with his first super villain." He also says it won't retread or "take apart" the seminal Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli story "Batman: Year One."

As to who that villain is for this 11-issue storyarc, the writer didn't spill in the initial announcement interview with the AP. However, he may have already let that slip. In a January 2013 interview with Newsarama, Snyder said, "I don't want to give it away, but I tried to hint before that, like, Riddler is a character that we're really going to be focusing on in 2013." Readers may also expect the Red Hood Gang to make an appearance in "The Year Zero," as was teased in 2012 in the pages of Batman.

But.....that is "let's redo the origin."

So apparently (according to Wiki) this week is the last episode of Young Justice. I was looking at how last season had 26 episodes, and this would only be episode 20 this season, so I assumed we had 6 more to enjoy, but I guess not. Really sucks.

DaveBrawl 03-15-2013 11:52 AM

At least I still have Arrow I guess...until DC has that cancelled for no reason as well.

mitchables 03-15-2013 07:21 PM

it's been picked up for a second season, so we'll get that at least.
