I would be pretty bummed if they ended the NEVER openweight title. I've enjoyed the matches I've seen from that division.

Just say where 48 year old Yugi Nagata wins the belt and put on a great match.

Seeing Orton and Harper argue and Bray trying to separate them, I could actually see Bray kicking Harper out. At that point, WWE would have two choices.

Either Orton then immediately turns on Bray. Shocker! He outsmarted Wyatt and got Bray to dissolve his own family!

Or the better option, Wyatt and Orton remain a dangerous team and end up in a feud with a face Harper and Rowan team.

Mr. Nerfect 01-01-2017 10:09 PM

Harper as a babyface going against Bray and Orton? That has...intrigue. I'd be for it any other time of year, but I think we'll be seeing a lot of stuff happening at Mania and I worry if many things are going to get lost.

Evil Vito 01-01-2017 10:14 PM

Yeah, the one problem is it'd probably require Alpha dropping the belts back to Bray and Orton soonish. The feud doesn't NEED the tag belts but realistically the SmackDown tag division isn't getting two WrestleMania matches.

Not even sure you could have them wrestle a non-title tag match at Elimination Chamber either. First off I don't know if Rowan will be ready to go by then but also I think one or both of Orton and Wyatt will be needed to pad out the Chamber match itself.

Evil Vito 01-01-2017 10:17 PM

Actually, that might not be true.

If the Chamber is for the WWE Title, you can have Cena, Styles, Ambrose, Miz, Corbin, and Ziggler.

If you take Cena and Styles out and have them wrestle another title match...the Chamber would be for #1 contendership. So Undertaker would be in there and the last spot could go to someone like Kalisto just so he can do something batshit crazy off the cage.

Mr. Nerfect 01-02-2017 01:28 AM

I'm not sure the WWE won't just blow through things until then. I could see Orton facing Harper at the Chamber to set up a WrestleMania match with Bray, who is in the Chamber trying to achieve his ultimate glory. If Cena wins the WWE Title at the Rumble, or doesn't, whatever, then a Chamber of Styles, Cena, Ziggler, Ambrose, Wyatt and Corbin makes enough sense. You could also put Kane in there. Or have a lucky dip guy like Apollo Crews or Kalisto. If Sami Zayn ends up traded, they might not just shove him with The Miz and let him go into the Chamber to create an illusion that Daniel Bryan believes he can "win the big one."

Let's just go with Corbin in the Chamber:

* Cena (c) vs. Styles vs. Ambrose vs. Ziggler vs. Corbin vs. Wyatt for the WWE Title

* The Undertaker makes an appearance

* Randy Orton vs. Luke Harper

* The Miz (c) vs. Sami Zayn for the IC Title

* American Alpha (c) vs. The Fashion Police for the Tag Titles (or really any team)

* Alexa Bliss (c) defends the Women's Title

* Becky Lynch vs. Alexa Bliss' new minion

I mean, it's not the most epic card ever, but it's "solid" in terms of filler PPV.

Skinny little legs must struggle to hold up giant torso.... probably why they are all taped up..... extra support......

He should bust out a moonsault at Rasslemania

It feels like Orton vs Wyatt needs to happen at Mania. To me the SDL side is a little weak without that program in there. Let's say it's Taker vs Cena, then maybe Ambrose vs Miz, and something with Styles. Compared to RAW, they need another big match.

Alpha could either fight the Usos or maybe even The Revival if they come in prior to Mania.

I get this feeling that Ellsworth enters the Rumble when Lesnar and Goldberg are in the ring by themselves, and tries to dump both at once. It ends either with the two double eliminating him, ala Trips and Austin or with a humorous "who ragdolls Ellsworth better" contest.

According to PWI, first name expected to be announced for this year's WWE Hall of Fame class will be:
SPOILER: show

Won't be the headliner though since a bigger name is getting revealed later.

Evil Vito 01-03-2017 07:03 PM

That's a much deserving choice.

No. We hate WWE just as much.

Juan 01-04-2017 05:37 AM

I dunno, STD seems to get really upset when someone tries to praise anything TNA or ROH or any Indy fed does.

Juan 01-04-2017 05:40 AM

I only watch WWE, but I don't feel the need to bash other feds just because it's not WWE

SlickyTrickyDamon 01-04-2017 05:42 AM

Young Bucks are trash.

#BROKEN Hasney 01-04-2017 08:01 AM

Wrestle Kingdoms main event is better than anything WWE put on last year and I would dare to bet anything next year. Omega even had an amazing intro video.

Didn't get to watch live, probably won't be able to sit down and watch the whole thing until the weekend.

But based on what I've heard it's kinda sad to realize that wrestling in 2017 has probably already peaked on January 4th.

Eh, it happened last year too. I mean, AJ Styles was in NJPW for a week or so last year, yet had his best match of the year there.

Evil Vito 01-04-2017 08:52 AM

WWE must now top it by having Reigns/Taker go 50 minutes before Reigns gets his feel good moment of retiring The Undertaker clean. Genius.

#BROKEN Hasney 01-04-2017 08:56 AM

Nah, they'll just have an episode of Bring it to the Table where JBL will yell about how you're wrong about liking other brands of wrestling like he shilled for 3 hour Raws.

The only appeal whatsoever I can find in Bring it to the Table is that it's a 30 minute exercise in corporate insecurity.

Lock Jaw 01-04-2017 12:16 PM

WWE version of "Guess Who": https://www.amazon.com/Winning-Moves.../dp/B0188R0MMC

"Was your person born and bred to rip and shred?"
"Yes"
"Are you Konnor?!"

As football season is basically over and Rumble is at the end of the month, I signed back up for the Network last night. I watched Bring It To The Table. It's basically Heyman and JBL daring the fans to boycott the product. The whole premise of the show is let's look at what fans on the internet are complaining about and tell them their opinion's are irrelevant because none of the fans are Vince McMahon.

While it's true that no matter what the fans think nothing will change unless Vince says so, it's not really a counter argument re: the actual flaws or quality of the product. It's basically saying "you're wrong and you can't do anything about it because you have no real alternative other than to stop consuming the product. Go ahead stop watching. We dare you."

Big Vic 01-04-2017 01:47 PM

Was the "this day in wrestling history" thread deleted? It was quite comical.
