I cannot state how excited I am for X-Men 97 to be on the air.......

I don't watch really anything at all, but will be watching this like it was my first time seeing the Dark Phoenix Saga.

I remember that one episode "Orphan's End" that had her with a ponytail. I think it was the only time and I was kind of disappointed that they didn't stick with it. Cyclops got to keep that brown jacket so what gives?

Jennifer Garner Elektra confirmed to appear in Deadpool 3. Multiverse, yeah!!!!! Are we tired of it yet?

Destor 07-08-2023 03:23 PM

Personally? No, not really

XL 07-08-2023 03:24 PM

Yes. But I trust they can do enough fun stuff with it in a Deadpool movie to get by. Maybe it’ll be the thing that kills off multiverse movies for a while. The teen slasher movie trend was effectively killed off by the spoofs that followed it, over saturation of that genre meant it are itself and we're back with new instalments of the teen slasher movies. It all comes around again.

XL 07-08-2023 03:25 PM

Oh. Just thought, this whole saga of the MCU is about the multiverse. So no, it’s going nowhere any time soon.

I'm not so much tired of it as just not interested, let alone Garner being horribly miscast as the character to begin with.

X-Men '97 Footage Wows Comic-Con Crowd As First Details Surface Online
Story by Danny Bojic • 1h ago

***NOTE FROM M-A-G***: Going to take some precautions in case you don't want anything spoiled. Not sure if this is the kind of show that would necessitate such actions, but if you are curious, by all means, click on.

SPOILER: show
San Diego Comic-Con is in full swing, and despite actors not attending in solidarity with the SAG-AFTRA strike, there's still plenty of news coming out of the legendary convention. During the "Designing the X-Men" panel, Marvel surprised audiences, giving them an exclusive first look at the upcoming animated series "X-Men '97."

According to The Cosmic Circus, one clip shows the X-Men interrogating Dr. Bolivar Trask, the creator of the Sentinels, who will be one of the primary antagonists of the reboot. Jean Grey uses her telepathy to enter his mind, and not only is she pregnant, but it looks like Rachel Summers is on the way. @UncannyLZ described Jean using Cerebro, which induced a vision where she was no longer pregnant, and a baby resembling Rachel approached her.

Cyclops also got his time in the spotlight at SDCC, with footage featuring him saying a variation of his iconic "To me, my X-Men" line. Another clip showed the X-Men falling through the air and Cyclops using his laser beams to slow their descent. According to CBR, one clip revealed Master Mold's presence in the series and confirmed Archangel and Bishop as official members of the X-Men.

Yeah..... don't like it. Almost like the 5th season of the OG run of the show where their budget was slashed and they had to outsource the animation. Quality took a nosedive that 5th season.

Just.... keep it like it was, why change was doesn't need changing maaaaaaaaan?

Lock Jaw 08-11-2023 10:52 AM

It has to change at least a little bit due to everything being done by computers these days, which was always gonna make it lose a little bit of its charm. Like the new Animaniacs show didn't deviate from the designs really, but it still felt like it "lost" a bit of "charm" due to the smooth computer animations and rendering.

I think it's a pretty fair middle ground between the original style and the one used for that final season. I did, however, appreciate that last season moving Jubilee a bit towards her Generation X look.

Also, shoddy animation aside, I think "The Fifth Horseman", "Descent", and "Graduation Day" were pretty OK episodes. Could they have stood to use a bit more polish? Sure, but it was as good as it was going to get that season. Unless we count "The Phalanx Covenant" as part of that season.

I think the picture is more about the X-Men in the 90s in general, but you never saw the episode "Cold Comfort"? Bobby was pretty much the focus in that one. Unless you mean he wasn't part of the main cast, then yes, you're right, but neither was Elisabeth.

Either way, it's a funny picture, I think. I'm imagining Hank being his nerdy self cooped up in his room with a book while Xavier's downstairs in the den.

This almost reads backwards. Due to advancement in technologies, they could 100% re-create it if they wanted. That's not what I'm saying though.

It just..... doesn't look as great, IMO, as the original did. Not because of "smoother" whatever. Just don't like the way the new ones look compared to the original. I will try to get some good comparison screenshots or something, later. it's just "off" for me.

Lock Jaw 08-14-2023 02:02 PM

I reserve all judgement until I see it in motion, anyways.

And yes, of course they could use tech/AI/whatever to make it look exactly like the original... but they won't, and I know that.

Things looking "bleak" for the new Daredevil show:

Quote:

According to a new report from The Hollywood Reporter, the reset button has been pushed on Daredevil: Born Again following its shutdown due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. It's noted that less than half of the show's 18-episode order had been filmed, but the result had Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige feeling that the series "wasn't working." This led to the quiet firings of head writers Chris Ord and Matt Corman, while the directors on board for the remaining episodes to shoot were also let go. The search has since begun for new writers and directors.

......

Ord and Corman reportedly developed a series that was more of a legal procedural drama, and the issue was that it felt too far removed from the action-packed three-season Daredevil series. Cox is said to have not even put on the Daredevil suit until the fourth episode, and this seems to have left Marvel Studios feeling like Born Again wasn't exciting enough in this form.

While Marvel will "keep some scenes and episodes," much of what was shot could wind up getting scrapped with other serialized elements added in. Ord and Corman are also still on board as executive producers. The report also referred to Daredevil: Born Again as a two-season series, so there are apparent plans to keep the show going for at least another season, despite these behind-the-scenes issues. Meanwhile, this new plan for Marvel shows will also entail hiring showrunners, creating show bibles, and shooting pilots to better assess a show's potential before ordering full seasons.

M-A-G 10-11-2023 11:08 AM

Have She-Hulk be the legal procedural and keep Daredevil as a traditional action superhero series.

drave 10-11-2023 11:15 AM

Deadpool 3: All major villains to appear in the film
Story by Bhavya Kapoor •
1d

Deadpool 3 is the next release on May 3, 2024, in the United States as part of Phase Five of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). This latest edition is projected to feature a group of baddies in the forefront battling it out with Deadpool in yet another action-packed, dark comedy.

The slated villains each have their own characteristic combination of skills and motivations and are bound to set up interesting interactions with Deadpool, developing a plotline that is connected to the MCU's overarching narrative arc. The villains are Daken, Evil Deadpool, Mister Sinister, Stryfe, and Lady Death. Ellen Whitby, T-Ray, Bullseye, and a new Emma Corrin yet-to-be-unveiled villain are other speculated cameos.

The assumptions are that these adversaries, who all have their own axes to grind or objectives to accomplish, are likely to not only oppose Deadpool but may also open the vistas for the introduction of other narrative threads in the MCU.

Unmasking supervillains in Shawn Levy's Deadpool 3
1) Emma Corrin as Cassandra Nova
Emma Corrin has been cast as Cassandra Nova, the evil twin of Professor X in Deadpool 3. Cassandra Nova is renowned for her powerful psychic abilities and intense animosity toward mutants. This role marks an exciting new venture for Corrin, who enthusiastically embraced the opportunity to portray a villainous character.

Initially surrounded by speculation about a different role, Corrin's official confirmation as Cassandra Nova adds a compelling antagonist to the narrative of Deadpool. Cassandra Nova's hatred for mutants, specifically the X-Men, is an interesting storyline for Deadpool 3. This brings a tough antagonist for Deadpool to fight and a more complex development within the X-Men lore of the MCU.

2) Matthew Macfadyen in an undisclosed role
Matthew Macfadyen has a major yet undisclosed role to play in Deadpool 3, with the strong speculations being that he is portraying a character known as Paradox, an agent serving under the Time Variance Authority (TVA). Ryan Reynolds has also made comments that he would share quite an amount of screen time with Macfadyen, which led to such speculations of a major character in the plot.

This prompts a whirlwind of speculation, particularly in light of the fact that both Deadpool and Wolverine have crossed timelines before, and it also suggests that a very complex inter-dimension narrative is lurking in the background with the pair.

3) Jennifer Garner as Elektra Natchios
Jennifer Garner will also reprise her character Elektra Natchios in Deadpool 3 as she returns after playing the same role as Elektra in 2005 as well as the 2003 film, Daredevil alongside her then-to-be husband Ben Affleck. The news comes as a huge surprise and appears to be a cog of the greater narrative machinery as the new installment goes into the Multiverse Saga.

This reprisal will reunite Garner, Ryan Reynolds, and director Shawn Levy. They previously collaborated on 2022's The Adam Project. Garner's return as Elektra is anticipated to bring a nostalgic and exciting element to Deadpool 3. Her previous portrayals of the character were well-received, and her complex assassin persona will likely add an interesting dynamic to the storyline.

Known for her martial arts prowess and sai-wielding skills, Garner's Elektra may have significant interactions with Reynolds' Deadpool and possibly Hugh Jackman's Wolverine█, who is also set to return in this installment.

4) Ian McKellen as Magneto
There have also been rumors that Magneto, likely played by Ian McKellen, could feature in Deadpool 3, with these speculations partly informed by Patrick Stewart's hints about the possibility of McKellen's Magneto making appearances in the MCU.

During an interview with ET Online, Patrick Stewart spoke about his role in the X-men film series and also mentioned Ian McKellen, he mentioned that the Magneto actor expressed his happiness after hearing Stewart's cameo in Doctor Strange 2. He further hinted at his character, Professor X and Magneto to get more screen time together and mentioned:

"Actually, it went very well. He did say something like [‘Hey, I would've done this!'], yes that's true," Stewart said. He then hinted that there might be more Professor X and Magneto in the MCU. "But we're not done, Sir Ian and myself. We're… we got plans."
Some potential Rumors are that there is a variant of Magneto from Earth-838 who is looking for revenge on Deadpool and other mutants. The buzz also dovetails with the MCU's developing multiverse storyline, which could help Magneto slink his way into this new narrative, especially with talk of eventually revisiting Fox's X-Men.

5) Typhoid Mary
Typhoid Mary is a complex character from Marvel comics, and rumors are holding that she might be among the villains in Deadpool 3. Being one of the adversaries that Deadpool has clashed with makes Typhoid Mary a potential antagonist. Their story, when published in the comic books, starts when Deadpool is paid to terminate a patient in a mental asylum that later turns out to be blacked out by Mary Walker.

Deadpool is embroiled in a complicated relationship with Mary who has multi-personalities among them violent Typhoid Mary. The actor's choice to portray Typhoid Mary in Deadpool 3 is still unconfirmed, causing ongoing discussions and fan speculation within the narrative.

Deadpool 3 is slated for its theatrical release on May 3, 2023.

It seems weird to see "Phase 5".

I'm not part of the crowd experiencing the superhero burnout, but I get it. And anytime shit gets done like She-Hulk, or possibly even Secret Invasion (I liked it, but it felt a bit... lazy? On autopilot? I dunno), it only adds more folks to that side of the equation.

Its nice to have a wealth of stories from a genre long ignored because it had to be distilled through the "for kids" filter, but it seems inconceivable that it has been able to be such a relative success for so long without the wheels falling off... and that's only counting the ambition of the MCU/Fox* in particular, not other shit like Sony, the DC live action movies, the superior DC animated movies, or the various other properties like The Boys or Invincible.

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ is back in production with a stellar Marvel trio
Story by Cristian Ciuraneta Catalán •
18h

A few weeks ago alarms went off in Marvel Studios because of the restart of production of ‘Daredevil Born Again’, the next MCU series focused on Matt Murdock and his universe adopted from Netflix, all after his appearances in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ and ‘She-Hulk’, even with part of the filming already completed. Well, as revealed by The Hollywood Reporter, the production now has a new production team in the form of two directors and a showrunner, all of them old acquaintances of Marvel.

The new Daredevil series is now underway
After throwing away everything done up to the moment of ‘Daredevil Born Again’, Kevin Feige already has a new team that will be in charge of giving a new look to the long-awaited series, now as part of the MCU. Starting with a showrunner, Dario Scardapane, who has already worked with Marvel on ‘The Punisher’ for Netflix -forming part of the same television universe as ’Daredevil’- and in other successful productions such as ‘Jack Ryan’.

The director duo formed by Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, directors of ‘Moon Knight’ at Marvel Studios and right now the second season of ‘Loki’, will be in charge of directing the new Matt Murdock series for Disney+. Let us remember that this is a pair of very versatile directors who have among their works productions such as ‘The Infinite’, ‘Spring’ or the most recent ‘Something in the Dirt’.The director duo formed by Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, directors of ‘Moon Knight’ at Marvel Studios and right now the second season of ‘Loki’, will be in charge of directing the new Matt Murdock series for Disney+. With the writers strike now resolved, its teams can now start working under the guidelines of both the new directors and the new showrunner, waiting to complete the new script and start filming once the SAG-AFTRA strike gets a resolution. With everything, ‘Daredevil Born Again’ still does not have a release date on Disney+.

so it looks like theyre going to go the most basic route they could with the xmen. Alt universe. Shove em in. Not exciting at all. Ive said before if all my chips are on the xmen. The fuck them up and im out.

Blah. I'm in the same boat.

Pedro Pascal tapped to play Reed Richards.

Destor 11-16-2023 02:17 PM

I love him but i dont see it

Lock Jaw 11-16-2023 02:37 PM

I think he'd be a better Dr. Doom

Fignuts 11-16-2023 04:12 PM

Y'all might be jumping the gun on the marvels post scene pessimism.

SPOILER: show
I don't believe this has anything to do with merging the fox universe into the mcu. Rather I think it's a set up for deadpool 3 and more specifically how he joins the mcu, which we've known for a a while they've planned on doing.

Monica's gotta get back somehow. Deadpool hitches a ride with her for whatever reason.

Saw someone mentioned Hayden Christensen, and I actually think thats a good fit.

Agreed. I'm having a hard time seeing him play a arrogant genius asshole.

John Krasinski was fine. But that would just create a bunch of problems.

I definitely prefer your take and will bandwagon you in hopes of willing it into existence

They want to go young but i dont think reed richards works well as a 20 something

I got up to Captain America: The Winter Soldier in my re-watch of the phases 1 to 3 films. It is such a superior instalment in the series. A great story with its own unique (for Marvel films) feel, but still being part of the wider universe. If only Marvel could have built upon this, but sadly they descended into the wokery, and story, etc took a backseat.

Destor 11-21-2023 10:07 AM

Winter Soldier is very high on my best marvel list. Maybe at the top.

Big Vic 11-21-2023 10:18 AM

No Way Home for me dog.

drave 11-21-2023 10:37 AM

Did your dog get lost? What's wrong?!

I personally have a hard time with John Krasinski, but that's because my brain automatically views him as a live-action stand-in for Roddy from "Flushed Away" and as such, can't take him seriously in ANY serious role he is in. And it isn't just the ears... but they don't help.

M-A-G 11-26-2023 08:23 AM

So now they've made it official that the Netflix pre-Disney+ stuff doesn't count, which is fucking dumb.

There's so much of this happening, plus all the different versions of the same stories.....

Just blow it all up and start over FFS.

Lock Jaw 11-27-2023 08:52 AM

Time for the new DCU to creep in and take over!!

(Except my faith is not high with all the news from the Superman movie and how many characters are being shoehorned in)

El Vaquero de Infierno 11-28-2023 01:16 PM

I'm up to and I've finished Doctor Strange in my rewatch of phases 1 to 3 of the MCU films. I feel fatigue creeping, though I don't know if it is just me or the MCU itself. Therefore, I'm taking a break from it for most of the week, and either Friday or next week I'll watch GOTG Vol. 2.

El Vaquero de Infierno 12-01-2023 12:20 PM

I watched Spiderman: Homecoming, last night. I'd forgotten it had Laura Harrier in it. My brain had to keep rebooting itself, as it could not compute how ridiculously attractive she is. I've seen some recent photos of her, and she appears to have had a minor boob job, which is a shame, as she was perfect the way she was.

M-A-G 12-06-2023 07:47 AM

The bakery truck that Steven drives in Moon Knight and the Red Skull's car from Captain America: The First Avenger were spotted on the set of Deadpool 3. This is sounding so fucking random.

Destor 12-09-2023 10:56 AM

A rated R MCU film still feels impossible.

El Vaquero de Infierno 12-10-2023 05:47 AM

I watched Endgame last night, and with it, finished my re-run of phases 1 to 3. I'm also going to watch Spiderman: Far From Home, as it deals with the immediate aftermath of Endgame, and I'll probably also re-watch Far From Home, but after that, I'm done... until Deadpool 3 comes out.

I was initially excited about Blade, but from what I've heard, its becoming an absolute shitshow and is probably going to be woked-out of all recognition.

M-A-G 12-13-2023 10:50 AM

So now "early 2024" is the line we're getting for the release of X-Men '97, which is vague as fuck and a big "well no shit" at this point. It's especially hilarious with all of the talk of the work being done for the second season when the first is still MIA after all of this time. I will say props to them for giving the Val Cooper character a shot.

M-A-G 12-17-2023 09:46 AM

So both "What If...?" and "Echo" are having all of their episodes dumped in one go. I don't know if I should take that as them having no confidence in them or having all the confidence in them.

ClockShot 12-19-2023 07:04 AM

Jonathan Majors found guilty of assault and harassment. Marvel immediately drops him.

M-A-G 12-19-2023 08:22 AM

Pssh, you won't find any self-respecting A.I. getting busted for reprehensible behavior, that's for sure!

Big Vic 12-19-2023 08:41 AM

Hopefully they just close that whole storyline.

Lock Jaw 12-19-2023 08:42 AM

They should rename it The Krang Dynasty and do an Avengers/TMNT movie

M-A-G 02-07-2024 07:10 AM
