Buck needs to be canned. It is incomprehensible that Ubaldo Jimenez got into this game before Zach Britton.

Damian Rey 2.0 10-04-2016 11:33 PM

Buck handing Toronto the game right now. And instead of saying fuck it and bringing in THE BEST RELIEVER IN MLB he's having a fucking mound meeting while E2 comes up

Damian Rey 2.0 10-04-2016 11:34 PM

BWA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

There is not a manager in baseball who I would keep under my employ for bungling up the end of a game like that. None.

Ol Dirty Dastard 10-04-2016 11:35 PM

it was a good thing Showalter used that manager know how to save Zach Britton for that special save situation

SlickyTrickyDamon 10-04-2016 11:36 PM

No Intentional Walk, No Britton, No Job.

Damian Rey 2.0 10-04-2016 11:36 PM

Buck Showalter gives Adam Jones the stunner. Rips his jacket open to reveal a Toronto jersey

Ol Dirty Dastard 10-04-2016 11:36 PM

what a 1.2 by Liriano.

hahaha I'm so happy it was a bad decision by Showalter to cost Baltimore.

Frank Drebin 10-04-2016 11:38 PM

Shocked that in an 11 inning wild card game, the seasons best closer didn't get used. How does that happen?

SlickyTrickyDamon 10-04-2016 11:38 PM

Too bad they didn't have those "Post Season is Ours" t-shirts this year. Can't photoshop it to "Hours" like I did against the Yankees.

Missed opportunities. :(

Droford 10-04-2016 11:38 PM

I thought maybe Britton would come in
.. No idea why not. Ugh

Nicky Fives 10-04-2016 11:38 PM

As soon as I saw Ubaldo warming in the bullpen I knew the game was over, he got lit up back in June at the game I went to....

Evil Vito 10-04-2016 11:39 PM

I'd fire Joe Maddon after a 103 win season if he pulled that stunt to end a season. I don't know how it's possible to screw up that badly.

Damian Rey 2.0 10-04-2016 11:39 PM

What makes it better is Buck walked his dusty ass out there to fucking huddle and the best strategy he came up with was to leave a guy with a 5+ ERA out there against a premier power hitter with the game on the line. Meanwhile, THE BEST RELIEVER IN ALL OF MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL WAS SITTING ON HIS FUCKING HANDS IN THE BULLPEN BWA HAHAHAHAHAHA.

Say what you want about it, but the new wild card format has been amazing.

Excellent game.

You already answered this question. "Get the lead first".

Evil Vito 10-04-2016 11:41 PM

The Orioles wouldn't be the first team to fire Buck Showalter.

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/KV-GJ9iNX8g" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Damian Rey 2.0 10-04-2016 11:41 PM

Man Buck is gonna have to really own up. He lost this game. Had multiple chances to use Britton, and when the game was on the line, he went with a pitcher that was so awful he got demoted to the pen on a team with no starting pitching.

Lock Jaw 10-04-2016 11:42 PM

I'M HYPE

Frank Drebin 10-04-2016 11:44 PM

Love the wildcard game. Good teams still get in. Gives the casual fans a taste of how crazy and intense the postseason can be. How every pitch, every move (cough Zach Britton on the bench cough) is a conversation.

I get it, it's a coin flip. You condense a 162 game season I to one game. Same principle applies to a 5 or 7 game series. Bottom line is it's exciting and good for the game.

Damian Rey 2.0 10-04-2016 11:44 PM

Buck ain't hype

RP 10-04-2016 11:45 PM

So who is managing the Orioles next season? Not Showalter for sure.

Bad News Gertner 10-04-2016 11:45 PM

O's peaked too early in the game.

Better luck next year. Wah! Wah!

Ol Dirty Dastard 10-04-2016 11:45 PM

good buddy of mine is always bestowing the virtues of Showalter and how much better he is than Gibbons. I hate Gibbons, but Showalter literally just saved John Gibbons his job.

Stickman 10-04-2016 11:46 PM

Jays!!!!

RP 10-04-2016 11:46 PM

How the fuck do you not use Britton?? Might be the worst decision ever. I'm not even joking.

RP 10-04-2016 11:46 PM

LOL Showalter is gone

RP 10-04-2016 11:46 PM

Showalter just lost his job on one of the biggest stages.

Frank Drebin 10-04-2016 11:47 PM

Lol at the champagne being used just for winning the play in game. So fn stupid. Division series too. So lame.

RP 10-04-2016 11:47 PM

LOL Britton for Ubaldo is like Lebron for ELton Brand

Jesus Chist.

Lock Jaw 10-04-2016 11:48 PM

Jays busting out the champagne again........ wasting a lot of champagne again.........

poopfromweiner dude 10-04-2016 11:48 PM

SIKE SUCK MY DICK DROFORD

RP 10-04-2016 11:49 PM

There needs to be an investigation. I'm not ruling out Showalter throwing that game right now.

Evil Vito 10-04-2016 11:49 PM

I pray to whatever baseball gods are up there that if the Mets do lose tomorrow, it doesn't come down to Terry Collins doing Terry Collins things.

I can live with losing conventionally, getting shut down by Bumgarner, etc. but my heart cannot take a season being thrown away in the way the Orioles just lost. Man that was bad.

oh come on man, I get it's a bit over the top but 163 games s a fucking grind, and they just essentially won the wild card "pennant" in a fucking crazy game.

Emperor Smeat 10-04-2016 11:50 PM

Really dumb decisions by the Os late in the game. Saving Britton as their last pitcher was extra dumb.

Frank Drebin 10-04-2016 11:50 PM

Surprised Buck didn't call in the San Diego Chargers to help.

Evil Vito 10-04-2016 11:50 PM

So you get champaign when you:
- Lock up a playoff spot
- win the division
- win game 163 if necessary
- win the wildcard game
- win the LDS
- win the LCS
- Win the WS

Jesus.

I haven't heard of teams celebrating just clinching a playoff spot UNLESS their division is already decided tbh.

Fucking Buck avoiding admitting he made the wrong move in leaving Britton on the pine.

Trying to pretend Ubaldo was a better choice lol. Keeps saying a lot of different options. Yes guy. But THE BEST option was left sitting on his fucking can in the most important game of the year.

Now the ex players trying to protect Buck. How can you defend Showalter there? Even Droford couldn't.

Lock Jaw 10-05-2016 12:06 AM

Beer all over the mic..... ugggghhhhhhh

RP 10-05-2016 12:07 AM

I think Buck Showalter may have just threw the fucking game. I'm being serious right now.

RP 10-05-2016 12:12 AM

Full discloser. I have a great DK lineup going. And i have Encarnacion. I'm currently winning $5 dollars with a backloaded lineup full of Mets.

I want to state that because i still for fucking Lord, dont understand why Zach Britton didnt get a single pitch in that fucking game. Buck Showalter may very well have thrown that fucking game. LOL I'm not even joking. i'm fucking stunned and i'm 100% sure he wont have a job next season.

WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

Damian Rey 2.0 10-05-2016 12:12 AM

Nah. He has no reason to throw the game. He just made a dumb decision (over and over and over again).

RP 10-05-2016 12:13 AM

LOL no.

He threw that game.

RP 10-05-2016 12:13 AM

Ol Dirty Dastard 10-05-2016 12:14 AM

lol RP my fb status is "Thank you Mr. Showalter, you'll be getting your cheque from Mark Shapiro in the mail"

I honestly think Showalter "managed for the sake of managing". Along the lines of psyching himself out.

Emperor Smeat 10-05-2016 12:15 AM

Maybe Buck forgot the Os didn't suddenly inherit the Tigers 2 chances at a Wild Card spot when the 3-way tie didn't occur.

Showalter had the fix. INVESTIGATE!!!

RP 10-05-2016 12:16 AM

IT WAS EXTRA FUCKING INNINGS TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOLOLOLOLOLOL

RP 10-05-2016 12:16 AM

Ol Dirty Dastard 10-05-2016 12:18 AM

Ol Dirty Dastard 10-05-2016 12:21 AM

Givens was electric.

RP 10-05-2016 12:29 AM

I leave you with this. Britton face 3x as many Right hand batter. Gave up a .151 average compatred to .185 to lefties.

Encanacion was a right hand batter.

Buck Showalter just threw a fucking playoff game. Launch an investigation right now.

Jimenz vs Righties lol

I'm crying right now.

I cant wait for Droford posts.

Damian Rey 2.0 10-05-2016 12:41 AM

To make things worse, Showalter had Dylan Bundy, who was better than Jimenez. If he gets brought in, easier pill to swallow. At least you could say Showalter went with a guy who's been good.

Damian Rey 2.0 10-05-2016 12:42 AM

Droford will prob be gone until the offseason.

Droford 10-05-2016 12:47 AM

I'm still here

Ol Dirty Dastard 10-05-2016 12:50 AM

lol it is what it is though. 2 evenly matched teams, came down to a weird decision by the manager. One of the few nights where the Jays bullpen matched up well with Baltimore's.

Nicky Fives 10-05-2016 12:54 AM

I understand wanting to save your closer for when you get a lead, but runners on the corners, less than 2 out and one of you opposition's best hitters at the plate seems like the best time to bring in your best pitcher, considering the game is on the line right then and there it should force your hand.

Ol Dirty Dastard 10-05-2016 12:55 AM

the 11th inning in an away 1 game knockout all or nothing game seems the time to bring him in.

Droford 10-05-2016 12:57 AM

Ubaldo only has one year left on his contract there's Zero chance they resign him. Maybe if he repeats August/September for 3 months he could be a trade deadline deal.
Full season of Gausman and Bundy in the rotstiob will be good.
Trumbo is gone like Cruz...I'm 50/50 on Wieters coming back..probably not but they don't have a better option ready next year
Kim gets a full year playing hopefully not pulled against lefties.

Ultimately the biggest difference from this year for 2017 will be replacing Trumbo. Proven they can hit the jackpot in 1 year reclamation projects so I'm sure they can find someone to play RF.

Ol Dirty Dastard 10-05-2016 12:58 AM

Ubaldo getting put into the game not loosened up was not his fault.

Droford 10-05-2016 01:04 AM

I'm pretty sure he was warmed up..that was just sucky Ubaldo making an appearance after two months of being in hiding. It was due to happen.

Damian Rey 2.0 10-05-2016 01:13 AM

Bundy wilted down the stretch, as I had predicted. You can't count on him long term. Maybe they sign Trumbo. He's smart to start there. Should prob dh tho because he's fucking awful on defense.

RP 10-05-2016 01:30 AM

/sigh

No good team leaves there Cy Young caliber closer on the bench in hopes that they get a lead. Thats, in fact, a bad team. A very bad managed team.

RP 10-05-2016 01:31 AM

If you're going to tell me that Britton, a guy who was a starter and switched to a closer, cant come in and give a optimal performance in a tie game... YOU ARE A FUCKING MORON.

Zach Britton trying to keep classy

RP 10-05-2016 01:36 AM

In fact.. You keep Britton in there for atleast 2 innings if you need him in this situation. The whole point in a one game playoff that is tied in extra innings it to give your batters a chance to get ahead. Britton is you best chance in INNing 10 and 11. You bring Ubaldo in 12 or 13 if you have to. I mean, Buck really mismanaged the living shit out of this game.

Droford 10-05-2016 02:52 AM

He's going to leave for a long term bigger deal just like Cruz did . Theoretically he's younger than Cruz and a long term deal is less risky BUT I doubt they'll pay him big money off a career year especially when I think they might finally target a decent starting pitcher instead.

Damian Rey 2.0 10-05-2016 02:59 AM

You're over estimating his value. Cruz had shown to be a great hitter before. Trumbo was and still is a mediocre hitter who hits the ball over a fence every now and then. But he's never as good a hitter as Nelson Cruz.

I'd be stunned if a team gives him more than 3 years.

What wasn't shown was Britton spitting in Showalter's face and spelling "NPB" in the air with his finger.

Ruien 10-05-2016 07:53 AM

Maaan, can't wait to see Baltimore in the world series. Going to be amazing.

Ol Dirty Dastard 10-05-2016 08:53 AM

#1 team of all times.

Ol Dirty Dastard 10-05-2016 09:26 AM

Woulda been better if Eddie hit the homerun off of Britton to shut Droford the fuck up.

But now MLB fans have much more of a reason to hate Toronto fans after that bullshit beer can incident. Typical desperate, pathetic Toronto bullshit. Though the general consensus amongst Jays fans is that guy is a fucking asshole.

Having been at the Rogers Center though, Jays fans are a bunch of fucking crybabies.... does make it a crazy place to play though.

Ruien 10-05-2016 12:04 PM

Who was the oldest MLB player ever? Feel like Ichiro will beat it with his full head of gray hair.

Sepholio 10-05-2016 12:12 PM

Easy one there. Julio Franco. He's like 55 now and could still play. as a utility guy. He was 49 or 50 when he retired. Some pitcher retired a few years ago that was in his upper 40's as well, Jamie Mauer or something, can't remember his name.

Frank Drebin 10-05-2016 12:36 PM

lots o names of old players

Ruien 10-05-2016 01:01 PM

Damn. 59 by some guy with the last name Paige.

Frank Drebin 10-05-2016 01:46 PM

Wonder if he had an "Alberto" tattoo

Frank Drebin 10-05-2016 01:47 PM

Cubs are saying rotation is gonna go Lester, Hendricks, Arrieta and Lackey. No surprise but I wonder if they give Lackey the Ted Lilly treatment and bump him for Lester if game 4 is a must win.

Frank Drebin 10-05-2016 01:51 PM

Wondering who the hell the Mets are gonna start if they win. Nats are broken but they'll throw Scherzer, Gio and Roark. I can't name a Mets starter other than Synderguard and Bart.

Frank Drebin 10-05-2016 02:08 PM

If they advance rookies Robert Gsellman and Seth Lugo will be their other two starters to go along with Thor and Bart. They were both unbelievable down the stretch replacing deGrom and Matz, they team couldn't have gone on a run without them.

I think Gsellman and Bart would get the first 2 games of the NLDS, then Thor in Game 3 and Lugo Game 4 if needed.
