I'm far more interested in how they will spin the ratings than the actual ratings themselves.

Not sure how they will top bragging about the 25-54 Canadian demo

Haha ya that's true. This week they are blaming Rampage's shit ratings on a Colts vs. Cardinals game lol.

Mr. Nerfect 12-29-2021 03:22 AM

Awesome number for Rampage! That’s over 50% of what their peak was.

Looks like Hook is failing

Mr. Nerfect 12-29-2021 05:19 AM

The Rampage slot is death, but his fandom is ironic (even though he has talent). If they don’t go with Malakai Black, I do see value in Hook beating Cody for the TNT Title though. Especially since he started out as a Cody protege, didn’t he?

Dante Martin can beat Starks for the FTW Title at Battle of the Belts (an extended version filmed for YouTube or something). I don’t know why they aren’t doing anything with Starks. Hook can take it off Martin and then challenge Cody, title for title. Starks turns heel on Hook down the line.

TNARICK1 12-29-2021 05:58 AM

What's the cheapest way to watch AEW? I googled saying YouTube plus and Hulu premium. Is that correct? How far behind are the broadcasts?

I want to force myself through the boring programming so I can critique it better. Haven't seen a episode since Moxley was champion and God damn was it horrible then.

drave 12-29-2021 07:58 AM

Without pirating/streaming - Sling.

Mr. Nerfect 12-29-2021 12:56 PM

There has to be a way to get AEW to pay you to watch.

1.59 million for RAW

#1-norm-fan 12-29-2021 05:39 PM

Remember when AEW debuted and when the Raw ratings would be announced we’d get an “lol ONLY 2.5 times the Dynamite audience.”

Then a year later it was “lol ONLY 2 times the Dynamite audience.”

Well we’re just about ready for “lol ONLY 1.5 times the Dynamite audience.”

Damian Rey 2.0 12-29-2021 09:02 PM

Can’t wait till “it only took WWE 84 weeks to beat WCW” when AEW inevitably catches up to WWE by simply doing nothing and WWE continuing to follow its pattern of decline.

Mr. Nerfect 12-30-2021 12:20 AM

Wow, another win for the terrible 3-hour show, even when you factor in that third hour (a slot it dominates) to try and drag its average down. I wonder how much Vince sold the condensed editions for?

I bet USA is shitting bricks. That third hour is almost triple what Rampage gets. Lol, imagine if Dynamite had a third hour on Wednesdays every week to fill. What do you think that would do to 800k people who watch?

#1-norm-fan 12-30-2021 12:57 AM

LOL Gotta switch to comparing it to the late Friday night B-show now.

Next year when THAT gets too close for comfort it’ll switch to “Raw just KILLING AEW Dark!”

Lol Vince Russo actually gets paid by two sponsors to watch RAW. That's the only current product he will watch simply because he gets paid to do it.

---

WWE sucks balls too. I would watch AEW over WWE. They both suck balls. I wouldn't be surprised if AEW does catch up to WWE but not by AEW growing only because WWE is declining too. They have no storylines. They are just simply wrestling shows. Boring ass wrestling shows.

WWE rode the wave of superstars that Vince Russo created as long as they could. Now they have all finally got old and have mostly retired. I called it a long ass time ago. Now I get to smile and know I was right the entire time.

TNARICK1 12-30-2021 03:40 AM

Sling Tv is $35 a month. No way is AEW worth that. Especially with how Biden has crashed the economy.

I'll stick to my weekly WCW 2000 for now.

drave 12-30-2021 08:02 AM

It’s all trash. SmackDown is probably the best, which is why it holds up in the ratings. A lot of people do speculate that the WWE is going to decline to AEW numbers (and call that a win lol), but AEW is declining too. By the time WWE gets to 1 million viewers, where will AEW be?

TNARICK1 12-30-2021 02:32 PM

The difference is their audience. AEW has the die hard meltzer sheep. They eat sleep and breathe wrestling. Most likely live in their mom's basement. They have 20 years worth of brainwashed Meltzer sheep. These are the same people that followed ROH and other Indy wrestling and will chant cringe things.

WWE's audience is more of just mentally challenged people. I've met some of these people personally. They are usually really cool people. They are just a little slow in the head.

slik 12-30-2021 03:19 PM

I think if SD was on say, USA Network, on Friday Nights it would have less viewers than RAW tbh. I think being on FOX helps a LOT with them regularly cracking 2 million.

I think that's also why they loaded up all the men's main-event talent to RAW, WWE realized SD will get 1.9 - 2.3 million no matter what, so they left Roman/Drew/Brock and sent everyone else to RAW bc RAW needs all the help it can get.

slik 12-30-2021 04:23 PM

975k for Dynamite

.50 for Males 18-49

TNARICK1 12-30-2021 04:25 PM

Ouch. Couldn't even hit 1 million on their final TNT show.

That is typical WWE short term bullshit. Maybe had they kept Wyatt and Strowman they would not be so strapped for main eventers.

Mr. Nerfect 12-30-2021 05:57 PM

Lol at Dynamite rating.

Mr. Nerfect 12-30-2021 06:01 PM

Being on network television is clearly a big boon. The difference between it and cable is massive, as has been demonstrated by SmackDown moving to Fox Sports 1, as tiny as that station might be. Still, I don’t think you can take away from SmackDown’s consistency on there, even if network is a different beast.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens to Raw when the USA deal comes up. Do they try and move it to FOX or NBC? Or do they accept giant money to stay on USA and being the gem in its crown? Or is there some sort of streaming move where ratings become even more irrelevant? Or is there even some kind of split? It’s a way different game than the dirt sheets make out.

Mr. Nerfect 12-30-2021 06:02 PM

WWE is not above making a deal for way more money to appear on something niche as well. TNN in 2000 and a lot of their European deals highlight that. If a cable network or streaming service steps up to steal, that’s a real possibility.

Which would have never happened if any company would have gave Russo 100% control.

Instead the business pushed for a work rate promotions and this is the result. The industry died. AEW will never grow booking to these same fans that killed the business.

WWE, TNA, AEW all made the same mistakes.

I win and you lose.

You guys should have called me a prophet lol.

AEW grew over last year without having to go head to head with NXT. They did not actually grow viewership because they are still down from 2 years ago when they started and were head to head with NXT.

There was roughly 1.8 Million people that watched wrestling on Wednesdays in 2019. That 8% growth from 2020 compared to 2021 is the small amount of people who now watch AEW on Wednesday instead of NXT.

It's very good actually. The signs are pointing to AEW dynamite and the AEW and Tony Khan brand are testing high in focus groups.

xrodmuc316 12-31-2021 11:57 PM

What happens if a Smackdown clip show on FS1 does better rating than a special edition Rampage? Tony Khan might up and fire a few non-whites right on the spot.

TNARICK1 01-01-2022 12:10 AM

Tony Khan needs put behind bars.

It’s amazing how people try to pass off AEW no longer having competition within its genre as growth. Interest in wrestling and interest in AEW is declining. The TBS move is likely to be tougher on them than apologists make out (some try to present it as a promotion). They are taking over a slot from a show that is more popular than them. It’s not going to be pretty.

Jordan 01-01-2022 02:31 PM

It is a promotion because TNT has to justify paying so much for NHL so they bumped up to the bigger station with a storied history of pro wrestling. TBS is a huge move for AEW because TBS viewers are younger.

Putting a live show on a syndicated comedy network, what could go wrong?
